After tonight I knew things were going to change. For the better that is… I had a secret and I was finally going to tell the boy of my dreams, the love of my life, soul mate and boyfriend of the last four years. I wasn't prepared for what actually happened… I didn't expect to lose my boyfriend and best friend in one night…. Things weren't supposed to end this way.
My heart was ripped out, split in two and stomped on for all to see. I was humiliated and betrayed. How deep can the knife of betrayal cut before it’s too late to wrench it out and let the forgiveness heal? Is forgiveness even possible when you’ve been hurt in the worst possible way? Can a soul so broken and ruined ever be restored?
How am I supposed to heal from this when I have a reminder of the beautiful man whom broke me looking up to me every day?
**** Harley is the product of a one night stand. Her mother being an all-out train-wreck and her father the President of a notorious Motorcycle Club. She lives with her mother in a run-down apartment near the strip club she works for, her father lives a few hours away. To say she’s had a rough childhood is an understatement. Her life is the complete opposite to the luxury Caleb was brought up with. He is wealthy but never looks down at Harley since he is completely and utterly in love with her.
Harley has just graduated from High School, it’s their fourth year anniversary and tonight she has a secret to tell him before they head out to college and move into their new apartment together. They've been best friends since they met in Kindergarten and haven’t let anyone come between them despite being complete opposites. Caleb is the typical jock and Harley, his dorky sidekick.
What happens when Harley is betrayed...by none other than Caleb? What happens when Harley's secret is revealed? She runs to her father, now she has to learn to adapt to the Motorcycle Club life that her father leads. She has a long road ahead of her, surrounded by possessive bikers with dirty mouths and beautiful tattoo clad bodies she’s forced to understand the place of a woman in this club, even when she doesn't agree. Will Harley be able to resist Raven, the soon to be Vice President of the Club, when she captures his attention?
***AUTHORS NOTE: There is a cliffhanger so be warned ;)
I kept my writing a secret for so long, not wanting anyone to know about this passion of mine but eventually all those stories needed to be put on paper (or online in my case), I wanted others to enjoy these carefully crafted characters and to possibly get a glimpse into my imagination.
The first book I released was Alexia Eden and I hope all of you young adult fans of fantasy or supernatural go out and have a read.

Don't read if you don't want spoiler. My review/rant contains lots of spoilers.
To sum up what the story was about: Harley, who is 18, moved to live with her father, who is the president of a biker club, after a train of incidents... which was; she caught her soul mate and boyfriend for 4 years, sleeping with her then supposedly best friend which made her run and drive off that lead her into an accident. Though the accident wasn't her fault, someone run over a red light and hit her car!
Oh, and that she is pregnant with her boyfriend's baby... and she was suppose to tell him the happy news on that same night.
First, it really needs editing... way too many errors not to notice...
But moving on with the story....
I find so many things that is just so wrong in this story.
Like, Jace a.k.a. Raven, soon to be VP of her fathers biker club, is the one that hit her car cause he was speeding and did not heed the red light and through Harley's insistent not to tell her father who hit who in the accident.... Jace chose to not tell his president, Harley's dad, the truth on what really happened! And seriously, it would have been pretty obvious which car really hit which right? But I guess that really didn't matter...
Then, when Harley moved in her father's club house, she was placed in Jace's room, to sleep with Jace, cause Jace placed a claim on her? And her father was very much okay with that?!!
And Jace, by the way, turns into this raging person when he gets real mad specially when Harley don't obey or listen to him! He gets so violent!!!! And everybody in the club knows about his rage problem! But then, I guess it's safe for Hayley to be with him. NOT!
Then Harley, understandably, she is mad and heartbroken with what her boyfriend, Caleb, did! But she wasn't that broken to easily transfer her affection to Jace!
To top if off, Jace would go have sex with the club whore, which of course he'd tell Hayley that it doesn't mean anything.... did that not just ones too..... BUT of course Harley would easily forgive him but certainly NOT Caleb, her boyfriend of 4 years, her "soul mate". Caleb didn't even get the opportunity to speak to her at all!
Anyway, there's sooo much that is just sooo wrong!!!
I love that finally, nearing the end, Caleb was given a voice and somehow redeemed himself!!! And that Harley has stopped running (did I not mention she is a runner too?)!!! Oh and that Harley finally realized how crazy Jace is to be near her and more so with her daughter! Only took her 4 years to realize that!
But with that said.... this would have been a really good plot!!!! Specially with the ending.... It felt like now we are finally getting somewhere, but.... of course..... it's a cliffy!!!!
Would I read the next book? Why not! Maybe the crazies has stopped here.
Should have listened to my Goodreads friends here. There’s an example of how a young woman should never behave, and the type of guys she should never date. The heroine is basically a complete disaster as regards her choices of men. Her boyfriend of 4 years, the same guy who repeatedly asked her to marry her even if they are still teenagers and not even graduated, cheats on her with her best friend. Even the taste on her bff is quite disastrous. She’s bff with the school slut, who knows why, also because the heroine is just the opposite, that is a nice and nerd girl. But she chooses the hoe as her bff and as soon as she turns her back, said slut jumps her boyfriend’s bones. The heroine was just going to give the hero her good news, that she’s pregnant. Yes, that’s it. So, as soon as she finds the two cheaters together she leaves and goes to stay with er dad who’s the prez of a MC. We all know that a MC is not the best place to find a good and reliable boy who could replace her old and cheating one, at least not in romances… Sadly the heroine doesn’t know, and she falls from frying pan to fire and she finds herself a big bad scary biker, who in the beginning seems to be nice and loving but he slowly starts to reveal some nasty and disturbing traits. He basically cheats on her with club hoes, repeatedly, then has some terrifying bouts of anger, he is also borderline and under drugs. Yes, he’s traumatized and all that but who fucking cares? I mean. The poor girl has an alcoholic mother who’s also a stripper, is pregnant at 18 and has found her bff and her boyfriend together, so she doesn’t need this shit in her life, And sorry for the cussing. She tries to tell her ex that she’s pregnant but guess who answers his phone. Her bff. Who tells the heroine that the hero doesn’t want to have anything to do with her and her child. So, instead of asking her biker father to go and beat the crap out of the bastard cheater, she simply let the matter be and goes on with her life at the MC without trying to contact him anymore. The psycho biker and she have some kind of meaningless dating where they make out sometimes but nothing more and it all ends when she finds him again with one of her club hoes. Really girl, let him go. 4 years go by and then she accidentally meets her ex and guess what, he didn’t know she was pregnant because her bff never told him. Really? So now he’s all cozy and loving and sorry for his cheating and he swears he was in a bad moment because he had just seen his father cheating on his mother with his pa, so he had to do something and bff-slut was there to take it out of his pants and putting him on a condom and he didn’t even like it. And now he wants to have her and their daughter back because he always loved her. Ok, the book ends in a cliffhanger because, just when she and cheating boy are trying to rebuild a relationship, and she even has a better relationship with her mother, psycho biker comes back and is bent on having her back again, with him, at all cost. Sigh. I don’t even know where to begin. - the cheating is really without a cause. The couple were happy and they hadn’t had any arguments. And his excuse was pathetic. He was upset for his fathers cheating so, what did he do. He did the same to the heroine. Cheating scumbag. - the bad boy- biker with personality disorders. An example of a man you must avoid like the plague. They have anger issues and have a past. Let therapists deal with them, not you. When a man hits you or threatens you or make you feel scared, leave him. As in now. Already. Don’t even think a second. The heroine lets pass too many things. Hes a borderline psychotic. Bye bye. - the hero comes back and acts all jealous and possessive after he cheated on her first. I expected that at least he was celibate for four years. Not exactly. Oh he didn’t exactly went all the way but he did things. As in bj, hj, and who knows what else. And sorry, but how is a bj less than a screw? I really can’t. - inconsistencies galore. The heroine called the hero just days after she found out he cheated. Her bff answered and she believed her? Without even trying to meet him or to speak to him directly. How stupid is this. And how is that he didn’t want her and the child but kept on calling her and sending her texts for months? Didn’t the heroine find this fact a lil strange? Then 4 years later when they met again, he’s with her bff. But he tells her they’re not together and he hates her. So why is he still hanging out with her? And his parents? They never tried to get in touch with her, knowing she was with their son for four years. Oh, we’ve been so worried. Really? Not even a call! I don’t know if this is how young girls see relationships but I’m saddened that these days women still thinks that men or boys can cheat because well, they are boys and have needs. No, it’s not like that. And men can have their faults but no, they are not automatically all potential cheaters. There are also many good ones. So don’t give up and settle with the first idiot who make you suffer.
This book. I can't describe how I much I hated reading this book. The characters were absolutely shit, the guys were mostly total assholes, girls total bitches and seriously, you'd think that the main character is a total whore. Of course, with the exception of Willow. She is the cutest little thing ever and if it wasn't for her, I would have given this book 1 star.
TEAM CALEB.
Two words... Pure Genius! This book was AMAZING! I mean gosh, I'm still thinking about that ending. "This Broken Beautiful Thing" had every ounce of biker aggression, I loved every part and just cannot wait for the next book in the series. Jace (sigh)I don't even know what to do with you. One minute you're Jace, the perfect biker boyfriend and then you easily turn into Raven, the rampaging man set to break Harley's heart. Then there's Caleb... personally I don't even know what Harley saw in him, after what he did... I just hope there's no chance of Caleb and Harley getting back together. Hunter was the sweetest of them all and I really hope he get's his own book, but after cliffhanger I can't even tell who Harley's going to end up with. This book truly deserves 5 stars, but the cliffhanger just left me with so many unanswered questions, I really hope the next book comes out soon!
This book was hard to read. I never connected to the characters and didn't understand most of their actions. I also intensely dislike cliffhangers, and this book has a huge one. Harley is a weak push-over. Jace/Raven is a psychotic, cheating, abuser who needs intense therapy and jail time. Seriously. He is batshit crazy. Caleb screwed up, but he is on the way to redemption. I hope him and Harley find their way back to one another.
ETA: Even though this book didn't do it for me, I do want to know how it ends. I will read reviews before deciding to read next books.
On her four year anniversary Haley catches Caleb cheating with her Best friend Harley.
She leaves and moves to father's Motorcycle club. Unfortunately for me the character of Jace reminds me too much of Frankie from another author's book. It just felt like a copy.
Tropes and triggers in abundance! Reader beware. I am giving this three stars because regardless of my constant eye-rolling, I cannot deny the overwhelming urge to read book two.
Not a single thing to like!!! Especially the heroine! God! I just wanted her to be real so I could slap her! The story begins when she finds her 4-years of boyfriend cheating with her best friend when she goes to tell him that she is pregnant. After seeing them, she leaves and has an accident. The guy, Jace, who hits her works for her father who is the president of a MC club. I mean even in a situation as fucked-up as hers, she finds the time to fell in love with him! But she is carrying her ex's baby! Then, She calls her ex-boyfriend to tell him about the baby but her ex-best friend answers and tell her that he doesnt want her or the baby! She buys that even though they had been best friends even before they started dating! I mean c'mon! How could you not know your best friend+boyfriend! Aggh! And its not the worst! She is obliged to sleep with Jace, in his bed with him, because he doesnt ALLOW her to sleep anywhere else. She lets him snuggle her while they sleep, act like they are together and insult her in fronf of their friends and be violent to her, and in the mean time he keeps fucking clup whores. But she feels sorry for HIM after! BULL..SHIT! :) she lets Jace be a part of the baby, but not the real father! Jace keeps telling her she is HIS GIRL, acts like the baby is his. And so on! It was such a waste of time for me! I just cant understand how a writer could write a book like that!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m 36% in and I’m confused. So far I’ve seen more interaction with the OM Jace/Raven than with the MMC cheater Caleb. Yes I know that’s how the story is supposed to go BUT the FMC and the author can’t make up their mind on whether they like Jace or not. The FMC goes back and forth too much in a single paragraph as to liking or being afraid of the OM. I really liked him too until he started with that “knowing her place” BS. I was all for his level of crazy and possessiveness and was disappointed that he wasn’t going to be the main character. Now I’m annoyed that so much time is being wasted on the OM when he is clearly unstable. SMH.
The FMC is sleeping in his bed. Snuggling and his hands are all over her body under her clothes. She acts like they are a couple but then turns around and is like he is just a friend. She then sleeps snuggled up with a random third guy Jesse too. Talk about mixed signals! Jace tells the FMC her dad is okay with him being controlled by her. All the characters are all over the place.
56% UPDATE
This book is terrible! Every single character in it is stupid. lol. The FMC’s parents are dumber than dirt. They are so “happy” to see the FMC with Jace/Raven even though the dude has cheated on her twice now, to her face(!), and has broken her nose. That’s not including that he caused her car accident that almost lost her the baby, which is how they met. This guy is a disaster who is missing a ton of pop cycles lol.
The FMC is so desperate to be loved or not to be alone that she is clinging to literally any dude that gives her attention. Like I said before, she sleeps with Jace/Raven, Jesse. She now has Hunter and Brent chasing after her dumb desperate ass. And let’s not forget the actual MMC Caleb who we only seen three times so far in this book and he’s had only one POV so far. This is such a poorly written book on top of all the drama that is on page. Smh.
FINAL UPDATE
This book is so crappy it has the nerve to end on a cliffhanger at the 92% mark. This story isn’t worth this book let alone a second book. This story has no direction or character arcs. The MMC Caleb had one brief POV chapter in the beginning and then nothing else. Jace/Raven has to be bipolar or just plain abusive but still hiding it. We never get any explanation on the OW/Ashley situation. She had the MMC’s phone long enough to set this whole story in motion and she was still around him four years later but supposedly he was never with her and she basically is in no other part of the story. She is literally only seen when she causes trouble but has no consequences from anything that she does or has happened because of her.
The FMC flip flops between men all over this book AND claims that every single one has shown that they “want her” but she only sees them as her brother(s). Yeah okay. It’s a sloppy story that doesn’t follow through on its plot premise. I’ll finish the next book only because I can’t leave a book unfinished and this one is NOT finished. But after that I wouldn’t trust this author’s writing enough to read her cookbooks let alone a poem if she wrote it.
Oh and let me make this clear, it’s a clean read. The only sex in this book is very mild descriptors of the cheating that happens by Caleb and Jace. But no actual sex scenes with anyone on page. Just acknowledging grunts behind a door or the start of a possible BJ or that Jace was banging away with the OW, but no real on page sex or any sex between the FMC with anyone. God this book was such a waste of my time! Good luck.
I really hate writing negative reviews because I know authors work hard to weave stories, characters, and plots... but some books need it.
I HATED this book. Not disliked it. HATED IT. I skimmed through the last half just to finish it.
Why would the "heroine" allow herself to be treated so poorly, but stick up for other females? Why would her father allow Jace around her if he is such a bad guy? Why all the back and forth between so many guys... she looked desperate. Why didn't she tell anyone about the abuse? It wasn't like she didn't have people warning her and willing to step in.
Then the ending just seemed like a method used to be able to release another book in hopes that readers would agonize over the cliffhanger.
Honestly, the overall plot had potential but the details and small plot points made it generic and eyeroll worthy.
At first I thought it was a cliché, but then is it? Harley is betrayed by her boyfriend Caleb with her slutty bff. Harley crashes with Jace. Oh and just so you know she's PREGNANT from Caleb. And there you go Jace is Harley's happily ever after... PEOPLE WATCH OUT! This isn't as it seems.
****SOME SPOILERS HIDDEN BELOW. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN READING****
It's been weeks since I finished This Broken Beautiful Thing but I needed the time to come to terms with all my eyes had just finished consuming...seriously, I read the whole thing all the way through and smacked my husband out of a deep slumber to yell at him about what he absolutely had no idea!? My thoughts were all over the place, I hated everyone, I loved everyone, I AM SO CONFUSED!
But after stepping away and thinking back to the events of the book, I did come to a few conclusions.
1)
2) How on all that is holy and good in this world can so many people villanize Caleb after making one mistake with Harley but idolize Jace/Raven?
I mean, it's like the difference between this
and this
I'm a huge fan of the bad boy with major MAJOR issues but c'mon people!
I have definitely figured out which side I've come on but it wasn't an easy road.
And bravo to Sophie Summers for writing a book that creates such a slew of controversial and complex thoughts that it caused me to sit back and contemplate for weeks. I, of course didn't just sit there, I had to go to work and feed my kids. But in between, there was definitely a lot of contemplating.
As odd as I thought Harley's thought process was at times, I did enjoy her character and found it quite believable how she weaved her way through some of her decisions. I found her thoroughly likeable. She was surrounded with some awesome friends as well.
I can't wait for the next installment, I just wish it was here already.

DNF at 53% - I honestly can't understand how this got ratings this high.
I have a few issues with this book, so maybe that's why I couldn't bear to continue reading.
First of all Harley is such a weak little girl with no backbone at all. I didn't connect with her, in fact at times I felt like smacking her.
Right in the beginning of the book I was like WTF?! How on earth
And don't let me start about her dad... Neglect is child abuse too! sorry but leaving your child with a woman who you know for a fact is a horrible mother makes you just as bad. And no, the child has no say in the matter.
Now on to Ashley the deranged friend/ ho/ villain- Could you be anymore of a cliche?
And then the main issue with this book: The overbearing, deranged, foul-mouthed lunatic that is Jace. Oh. My. God. Are we trying to chalk his behavior up to being an Alpha-male? Because last I checked that ain't it.. What authors nowadays try to portray as Alpha male is for me the very definition of an abusive partner. Does no one else see his psychotic ways?
No, just no.. I'm sorry. He is an asshole and she should cut her losses and run far, far away from him. I hate how women are encouraged to stay with these tortured souls just in hope of redeeming them.
Besides those issues the author failed to recreate the complex world that is an MC, which really irked me. I mean I don't want the history of the club but at least say something about it, spend some time developing this.
Just btw. all trough the book Jace made me think of Tigs from SOA, and I swear Tigs is a much more likable character imo! ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This book was a whole lot better than I thought. Based on the little description, I didn't really have much hope for it and put at the end of my "Books to read for the week" list. And boy was I wrong, it should of have been near the top.
You are introduce to Harley who father is the president of an MC and her mother who is a stripper. She is also dating her best friend Caleb, and did I mentioned that she is also pregnant. On the day that she is about to tell her boyfriend that she is pregnant, she caught him with her best friend Ashley. So she do what most heroine in romance novel do, she ran and while she drove away, her car crashed into Jase/Raven, who is apart of her dad's MC. And this is the beginning of her romance story and her weird love triange...square...line angle?
First of all, while reading this book I have no idea who the main Hero is. At one moment I thought it was Caleb, then I thought it was Jase, then Hunter, then Bentley, and even Jessie who is gay or bi. I actually wanted each and everyone of them to be the main Hero. Harley comes off as stupid at times, but then I realized that she is only 18. Second I actually really like Jase, but the things that he do makes me think he will die. Which I really don't want to happen cause I actually feels sorry for him and want him to have a HEA.
Like I said, this book was a lot better then I expected. However there are things that I would change. One would be the grammatical error, which isn't that bad, but at times when I am really into the story and there is a spelling error I get really annoyed. Two would be more different POV, we get one section where it is Caleb's. That is just a personal preference, since I feel like we get a clear idea of whats going on when we see other's view of things. Plus I get tired of being in the same person's head.
Can't wait for the next book. I also wish Hunter, Bentley, Jase and even Harley's dad gets their own books.
If not for all the drama, I don't think I would've enjoyed this novel. & I use the term "enjoy" loosely, since for almost all of the book I wanted to hurt somebody: smack them in the face, punch them in the gonads or the tit, slap them with a dead fish, kick them repeatedly in the gut, hack them up with power saw. My levels of violence fluctuated so much that I found myself borderline insane laughing my ass off because I couldn't hurt anyone. The moment I started reading this novel I felt like killing somebody. Caleb, you are lucky you redeemed ur damn self is all I'm saying. Ashley....even a month after reading this, I still want to kick you in the lady business. Jace......naa, I'm straight. I am soooo not messing with your Crazy Frankie ass. I am jumping up & down on your balls in my head though! :) This novel was also RIDDLED with errors. I wanted to rip my Kindle reader apart every time I saw one. Jesus H. Christ! Oh, & shit....was this an MC or a fucking Daycare centre? Tickle time? Wtf?! All in all, an entertaining read with all the bi-polarisms of certain characters & all the drama that unfolded. Really am looking forward to Book 2 & hoping against hope, crossing my finger, that someone gets smacked in Book 2. *sweet, baby Jesus.....PLEASE let that happen!*
OMG! I finally got to read this book and loved it!My heart broke for Harley... There were times where I wanted to climb in there and punch Raven in the face, but Raven..Oh Raven you georgeous angry boy, I definitely had a soft spot for him and tried to look passed all he did. Willow was too cute and everytime there was a part where it got to her I had to smile. Even after what Raven did, I still kinda hoped things wouldv'e turned out differently... My my my Hunter I really hope Sophie makes a book just for you, I need to hear your story...boy had me drooling...you cuddly bear you...This book isn't heavy into the whole biker scenario where trouble is always after the club and there's no club rivalry...it all revolves around Harley and the experiences she's going through living with bikers. I need to know what happens next! How can you end a book like that? I nearly threw my kindle across my room! but after all is said and done I'll definitely recommend this one...
Received ARC from author for honest review. Just finished reading this book, and my heart is still pounding. What a cliffhanger. Can not wait for the second book to come out. If you like a good MC book then i would highly recommend this book. Love Harley and felt so sorry for her through most of the book, she really knows how to pick the crap men. Really liked Jace too and so wanted him to get his act together for Harley's sake. This book puts you through a roller coaster of emotions and would recommend for everyone to read it. Well done Sophie can not wait for the next installment.
Words arent enough to describe this book. I loved it! This book has it all, pain, love and a cliff hanger. Cant help but fall in love with the tortured but sweet Jace/Raven, he carries alot of darkness and is hungry for love and affection. I cant help but feel pain for Harley, I cant help but feel anger towards Caleb but at the same time I feel sorry for him. A must read , go get it , you wont regret it.
Harley mets Caleb... Caleb cheats on Harley with best friend Harley goes to live with daddy and gets involved with pyshco Jase Jase starts off as sweet but then the crazy gets crazier
Harley has Willow and she is adorable.... Caleb finds out ashley was lying and he never knew abouthis daughter
Crazy comes back and kidnaps Harley....then it ends
This was a really good MC based book I am very invested in all the characters I will be reading all the books in this series as I have to know what happens I hope the series evolves and we get to know all about all the other MC members in detail rather than the story simply being very focused on a few people
I actually adored this one, the ending was such a surprise. Jace is a fucking psycho, so you never know what will happen next. His issues escalated to the end.
This book seemed to be a huge list of pros and cons, never balancing out or finding its way. The story has both large and small issues ranging from faults in characters to huge issues with plot lines. The story begins with two protagonists in a perfect relationship - Harley and Caleb. The way the author sets up the plot it seems like the story will revolve around Caleb making a huge mistake in cheating on Harley and then working to win her back while figuring out he has a daughter. Classic misunderstanding-plotline that we see in all romance novels involving an unexpected pregnancy and cheating storyline. But things quickly get complicated when Harley is revealed to be the daughter of a notorious biker gang, introducing another protagonist and hero, Jace/Raven. This is where the author clearly doesn’t know which storyline she likes best: the one in which Harley and Caleb work out their differences over raising their child after a series of misunderstandings, or the one where Harley finds a new hero in the dominant and damaged Jace while trying to find her way in the new world of bikers and violence.
The storyline quickly confused me, pushing me and pulling me in directions so that I didn’t know whether I really liked or hated the book. Something that clearly the author struggled with as well. The biker plot line, including the heroine’s difficulty with promiscuous sex and the lack of monogamy in her biker hero, is a classic one. Harley, having never grown up with bikers quickly learns that her hero who saved her from a car crash is not so heroic after she finds him in a compromising position. The author then introduces a new twist - Jace’s obvious obsessive tendencies that lean towards psychotic. This is a common plot line in most YA novels, mostly due to the fact that this immature plot line is so attractive to audiences that are insecure. While most heroes and heroines in all romance novels need to be “saved” by their partner in one way or another, blurring the lines between needing one another and being involved in a clearly abusive relationship is something else. Jace’s issues, which are obvious and complex, as the reasons for his obsession with Harley are never explained, leaving a hole in their relationship arc which doesn’t make him attractive or redeemable to the audience.
The author’s confusion with plot arcs and story lines in general is continued when a huge time jump is introduced where Harley’s daughter is four years old and she has moved out of the biker bar and no longer has a relationship with Jace. How their relationship has kept its heat is not explained and the fact that Harley so quickly forgives him after going through labor is confusing and frustrating. Jace is obviously still a candidate for Harley’s heart but this is never explained, either how close he is with her daughter, if he does things to win her over, or if there is still sexual tension (common plot devices). So its even more confusing when Caleb is introduced back into the story - in which the readers are confused as to whose story this is - Jace and Harley’s or Harley and Caleb’s?
The abusive relationship plot line is even more enforced when Jace, out of the blue, kidnaps Harley and her mother and threatens them with violence before attacking Harley for spending time with Caleb. Confusing and frustrating story line which shows the author’s clear immaturity and lack of the most basic writing essentials.

This Broken Beautiful Thing By: Sophie Summers 5/5 stars
Harley is the product of a one-night stand between her stripper mother & motorcycle club president. She has lived with her mother, has had a wonderful caring boyfriend, Caleb, and has befriended & defended the school whore, Ashley. She is definitely considered lower-class & grew up in a trailer house, while Caleb & Ashley are both from upper crust, wealthy families.
After graduation, Harley & Ashley go to a party to meet up with Caleb & a bunch of friends. Harley has a secret, which Ashley knows, and which she plans to tell Caleb. She’s pregnant. But Ashley ditches her almost immediately & when she goes looking for Caleb, she finds him… having sex with Ashley. She is destroyed & runs.
While living with her father, Grimm and step-mom, Anna & the boys from the Devils Grimm MC, she is claimed by Jace. However things are not always easy, and the MC life is one to which she is unaccustomed. It becomes aware that Jace has some mental issues, but we’re not privy to that information. But I think this shows how important it is for people who suffer from a mental illness to get the help they need & to stick with it once they have it.
Jace’s best friend Hunter befriends Harley, and who learns where to place his loyalties in regards to Harley & her baby. While working in her dad’s bar, she also befriends Jesse, who most assume is gay, but may be bisexual, nothing is known for sure. But Jesse also looks out for and protects Harley and her baby. Harley also reconnects with Brent, Caleb’s high school best friend and he becomes someone that she can also rely on.
Will she ever see Caleb again? Will he want anything to do with his child? Will she be single mother, raising her daughter within the club with a bunch of male role models?
Now I would love to go into more detail, but I don’t give spoilers, so buy this book!! I will say that there are some resolutions, but this book ends on a cliffhanger. Luckily, book 1.5 a novella entitled A Broken Beautiful Beginning is out now. So you can immediately continue the story.
There are some minor editing typos & misspelling of character names or using the wrong name, however, they weren’t so glaring as to distract from the story. And overall, it still earned 5 stars.
This book is a hot mess and is really hard to rate. The writing was very awkward and confusing. It sounded to me like it was written by a group of high school girls but then I saw the writer was only 22 so guess that explains it. There were so many things going on that caused me to scratch my head, thinking "who does that?". You expected one of the characters to react a certain way in a situation but their reaction would be something totally different that didn't make sense. The dialog was off too - how many 18 year-old girls who live in a trailer with a stripper for a mother say "whilst" and "amongst"? All the long, heartfelt declarations of love with her father and stepmother got really old so I just started skimming those. It felt like "how do I love thee, let me count the ways"! The editing was probably the worst I've ever read and I read 6 - 7 novels a week. Spelling errors, crazy punctuation, run-on sentences, extra words, missing words, incomplete sentences, grammar mistakes, you name it, this book had it. And it wasn't like one error per page or something, it was multiple errors in each sentence. I lost count of how many times I had to edit a sentence several different ways in my head just to figure out what was going on. Harley was the biggest mess of all. That chick seriously needed to stay single and focus on growing up. The fact that every time one of the guys cheated on her she wondered if it was her fault was so incredibly annoying. Even more annoying was how quickly she would take them back, especially Jace. All that being said, I still couldn't put this book down. I think it had the same appeal that a show like "worlds fattest man" or "woman with three heads" has - you don't want to look but something just draws you in, some sick fascination you can't resist. I would say there's a pretty good chance that I'll buy the next book once it comes out.
What did I just read ?! I have whiplash from this book, the last 50% was a total 180 from the first half.
I randomly came across this book and I'm so glad I did, this book and author certainly deserves more notice.
*Minor spoilers read at your own risk*
The story is about 18 year old Harley, she finds her childhood Sweetheart Caleb cheating on her with her so called best friend Ashley, who by the way is a raving bitch! Absolutely hated Ashley I would have kicked her arse!! Anyway Harley is devastated and events happen that leads her to meet Jase/Raven one of the brothers of her fathers MC club. She goes to live with her dad for a while to get away from everything and this is when I believe her life turns Into even more of a train wreck.
I do really recommend reading this it's not your standard Mc biker book, and that's one of the reasons I enjoyed this book. but there were certain bits annoyed the hell out of me, couple of them being the main characters, we have caleb, I just couldn't understand the reasons of why he cheated on Harley if he loved her so much ? Also when Ashley and his best friend Brent knew she was pregnant with his baby he never knew, or didn't even fight to win Harley back, even 4 years later?? so I was defiantly team Jase at this point. And That brings me to Jase/Raven I really liked him when Harley first met him then he turns out to be some abusive cheating arse hole and can I also say psycho?! I seriously did not see all this happening. I seriously don't want Harley to be with any of them now.
Overall a good read, there's Lots of drama, cheating, bikers, and a crazy arse ending.
Can I also say I want hunter to have his own book, pretty please Sophie summers?!
