Feeling “out of balance” is a common occurrence. Perhaps it’s digestive issues, or repeatedly injuring the same shoulder; feeling over-whelmed by e-mail, texts, and social media, or lacking closeness in your personal relationships. Balancing The Wheels can help you identify the patterns and connections from seemingly disparate aspects of your life as relating to your specific chakra energy centers. Once identified, this book provides specific tools, tips, and exercises including: yoga poses, pranayamas (breath exercises), and meditations to address your imbalances holistically. Aimed at yoga students, teachers, and novices alike, this book provides a practical introduction and application of the ancient teachings of yoga and the chakra system to contemporary daily life.
Sarah has practiced yoga since childhood and has published a book on chakras and yoga, Balancing The Wheels. She is an E-RYT 500 with ISHTA Yoga and Alan Finger (soon also with YogaWorks) as well as holding certificates in prenatal yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and in Yin Yoga with founder Paulie Zink. She also has a background in Ashtanga, Sivananda and Jivamukti (with David Life and Sharon Gannon in New York City) and has a led a number of yoga retreats in the US and in Costa Rica. Her style of teaching is vigorous and deep. She is warm and encouraging, and loves to share her passion for the benefits and joy of yoga in life as well as in class. She is trained in Reiki and Tarot and is the mother of two daughters, three cats, and a dog who have practiced yoga with her starting prenatal!
Balancing The Wheels is designed for yoga students and teachers who'd like to use chakras in their practice and are looking for a user-friendly way to add balance generally in their lives. As a yoga instructor who focuses extensively on the chakras, I found there's only so much you can say to students while they're standing on one leg with a foot behind their ear! This book is intended as a take-home extension of that work from class and allows the reader to customize it. A diagnostic quiz lets you figure out which chakras/areas of your life are most out of balance, then the book provides specific asanas (yoga poses), pranayamas (breath exercises), meditations, and other practices to either activate or tone down problem areas. It's also beautifully illustrated in full color by Elizabeth Kresch, with each chapter printed in a different color to immerse yourself viscerally in the different chakra energies.
