Build An Epic Career by Ankur Warikoo is a straightforward, heartfelt read for Young Professionals trying to find their way. Warikoo writes like a mentor who isn't trying to impress you, just help you not screw up the way he once did.

At its heart, this isn’t a book that drowns you in jargon or idealistic pep talks. Instead, it’s refreshingly honest and grounded in real-life lessons, delivered through bite-sized chapters that feel more like conversations than lectures. Whether you’re a college student unsure of your next move, a young professional stuck in a rut, or someone simply re-evaluating your path, there’s something in this book that will hit home.

What Makes This Book Stand Out:

- Relatable Wisdom Without the Fluff
- Action Over Words
- Emphasis on Self-Awareness
- Practical Life Skills We’re Rarely Taught

While the book is accessible and practical, it may not resonate as strongly with those looking for deep career frameworks or data-driven insights. It’s not a book of strategy, it’s a book of mindset. And its strength lies in that simplicity, though some may wish for more depth in certain topics. If you're in your 20s or early 30s and want a book that doesn’t overwhelm you but still gently pushes you in the right direction, this one’s worth your time.

A very good book for youngsters who would gain a lot out of some very practical good advice aka this book. The book is not about which career to build but about the basic general steps involved in learning about the career you are going to build for yourself.

As usual, the author does not write the book in a bookish manner as in other non-fiction books.

He writes like he is talking to a young person who needs some basic guidance from someone who has experience with a lot of ups and downs in their career.

And he says so!

Ankur Warikoo’s latest book ‘Build An Epic Career’ is a one-stop guide answering the FAQs of navigating through the ups and downs of your profession. Taking examples from his own life experiences, Warikoo has put together the book in a way that is easy to read and understand, irrespective of whether you’re a fresher or a seasoned professional.

Build An Epic Career, takes you through the process of understanding your passion and purpose and then takes you through a journey of developing the right mindset, building habits and above all, connecting with yourself.

In between chapters, you find real stories of people who share their career journeys from where they started and where they are now. This adds to the personal connection in the book, making it even more relatable.

Towards the end, the book also has some templates, action plans, and frameworks, that you can refer to for writing cover letters, cold emails, networking on social media etc. The book is a great resource no matter where you are in your career journey.

Ankur Warikoo is back with yet another “epic” guide, and this time, he’s tackling careers. "Build an Epic Career" is aimed at Gen Z and Millennials, offering practical career advice in Warikoo’s signature style—short, digestible, and straight to the point. If you’re in your 20s and wondering how to navigate the professional world, this book serves as a useful starting point.

As always, Warikoo keeps things easy to read. The book is structured in bite-sized sections, making it accessible even for those who don’t typically read career guides. He blends personal experiences with actionable insights, covering everything from education choices to financial planning. However, the "How-to" section feels a bit scattered. A more cohesive flow would have made the advice easier to follow.

One noticeable issue is repetition—some points are reiterated multiple times within the same chapter, which could have been avoided with tighter editing. Additionally, the book seems contradictory at times. Warikoo initially emphasizes corporate stability and saving money before exploring one's passions but later encourages early exploration without focusing on financial security. While both perspectives have merit, the inconsistency might leave some readers confused.

The inclusion of #epicjourneys—stories of individuals navigating their careers—is a nice touch, but after a while, they start feeling repetitive. The responses to different questions often seem similar, making this section less impactful than intended.

That said, Warikoo’s signature bullet-point format ensures the book remains practical and engaging. It’s more of a compilation of career advice rather than a definitive roadmap, so readers will need to filter out what works for them. If you enjoy Warikoo’s content, you’ll likely find value here. Just don’t expect groundbreaking insights—this one’s more about reaffirming what you may already know.

I wish this book existed when I just finished my schooling, but even though it didn't, I am so glad it's out in the world now!

Build An Epic Career is a breath of fresh air - a window showing a new perspective on what a career is and how to make an epic one.

In India, while growing up, we hear of only a few career options. If you are considered intelligent, you are supposed to study science and become an engineer or a doctor.

This not only drastically reduces the career options that are really available to students but also stops them from exploring and creates massive pressure to clear exams like NEET and JEE, in which million of student sit.

If you don't see any problem with it, you are part of perpetuating the problem.

The author @ankurwarikoo emphasizes that there is no one path to success, and a good career can mean different things to different people. He redefines what a successful career means, supporting it with insightful interviews with personalities from diverse fields - all having successful careers after not following a conventional/set career path.

The book teaches a lot of things - from mindset shifts to finding passion and from interview tips to networking techniques. The best thing about this book is that it couldn't be any simpler than this and the perfect balance between practical tips and the candid tone/voice of the author.

I highly recommend it to students who are in 11th/12th standard, or studying in college as well as to people who are in corporate jobs (trust me, it has a lot of valuable advice for you). So, basically, everyone in their 20s will benefit from reading this book.

Written with Gen Z and millennials in mind, Build an Epic Career by Ankur Warikoo offers practical career advice in short, digestible, and easy-to-grasp points with a simple writing style.

Compiled in easy to read sections, this book is not only for avid readers but also for those who don’t usually read—anyone can go through it effortlessly. The author starts by giving a brief overview of his career and the setbacks he faced.

He emphasizes that the successful careers you see in the news and on social media are just the highlight reels—the real story happens behind the scenes.

Supported by insights from various successful people, the book covers essential career-building habits. It discusses several "how-to" aspects, such as how to ace interviews, network online, manage emails, and more—small but important topics that significantly contribute to your career journey.

However, those who have been following him on social media for a long time may find much of the information familiar, as he frequently shares these insights in his videos and posts. Even first-time readers might find some content a bit repetitive.

Overall, Build an Epic Career is a solid career guide packed with valuable lessons that can genuinely contribute to professional growth. There’s a lot to learn from this one!

Just because it is your passion doesn't mean it won't ever suck.
It will just suck less.

Ankur Warikoo brings you this book to help you build the right mindset for your career. To help you build an epic career.

This is a no non-sense guide and an easy-to-read book which is not written like a story but practical points have been shared and there is no start, no finish. You can open any page and start reading. It highlights the stuff that really matters instead of giving any unnecessary gyaan. It is like a chai-time chat with a well-meaning bade bhaiya who's been there, done that.

The advice shared therein is a mix of Self-help, Motivation, Practical and Tactical guidance, Personal Storytelling, Sharing journey's of other people etc. There is a Framework, Action plan and Templates at the end of the book.

The book answers real questions like Where to start? How to make career choices that are right for you? How to decide if a job opportunity is right for you? How to slay interviews? And much more. Most importantly it will tell you to understand the inner clarity before you take any external action. It tells you to build the right mindset first and then take any action.

If you are someone who is just starting out, this is a good pick. It will give you pointers to consider while building your career.

As someone who's navigated the ups and downs of their career, I was blown away by Warikoo's refreshing take on what it means to build a truly epic career.

Warikoo's writing style is warm, inviting, and utterly relatable. He's like that wise friend who's been around the block a few times and is now sharing their hard-won wisdom with you.
The book is easy to read, with plenty of space to breathe and reflect on the nuggets of wisdom that Warikoo shares.
It's like turn to any page and you will find something for yourself.

What I loved most about this book is its emphasis on exploration over settling. Warikoo encourages readers to take their time, explore their passions, and build a career that truly aligns with their values. It's a message that's both timely and timeless.

His advice is grounded in his own lived experience, and it shows. From navigating the complexities of the modern workplace to building a personal brand that truly reflects your values, Warikoo covers it all.

I’m always hesitant to pick up books by Ankur Warikoo since they’re written for an audience much less than half my age. They’re easy breezy quick reads and I feel I’m not the audience for them. But as a career transition coach I had to pick his latest book on careers. And as expected it’s a fab book that grounds you with common sense and some incredible nuggets of wisdom. Ankur’s message is truthful, from his heart and from lived experience. A must read for young folks in the workforce and those who’ve just started out.

Nice book.

Continuing Ankurs series. I like his writing.
Content may not be new but style of the simplifying complicated things makes it easy to read.

I feel good and always takeaway atleast 1 suggestion and apply it to my life.

I liked how it confirmed some of the good decisions I've made retrospectively that has gotten me to this place today. Now, that gives me more confidence.

Takeaway: Resilience! I feel I've never stayed long enough to sustain my win. I've won a lot of times but I never sustained it, now, I'll give it time and I will win sustainably.

Just five interviews and their career paths. But loads of learnings and different perspectives.

Setbacks are part of life. This is a key takeaway for me.

And opportunities are endless if you have the right mindset.

Go for it.

It was a pretty short and digestible read. Never really cared for self help books but it was pretty helpful. Bro added templates for different types of emails that one might need in the workplace, Linkedin profile, etc. Pleasantly surprised.

Written in an informal and incredibly beginner-friendly style, this read is set to skyrocket your confidence and give your career the powerful kickstart it deserves.

Today's youngsters face an overwhelming paradox of choice. The sheer diversity of fields, limitless potential, and constant societal expectations can leave anyone feeling lost and doubtful. It's common for youth to struggle with helping their families understand the importance of passion, especially when the older generation often prioritizes security.

When you're feeling befuddled and anxious about your future due to peer pressure or cutthroat competition, this book steps in like a wise friend. It gently yet firmly nudges you to think smarter, pushing you to start cultivating habits that will lead to staggering success and profound inner peace.

What's really cool is that the book doesn't just share Ankur Warikoo's personal journey. It also brilliantly weaves in invaluable insights and learnings from other highly successful individuals across various industries and academic paths, offering a holistic view.

It truly drives home the crucial point: success is far from a bed of roses. While social media often gives the illusion of overnight success, this book powerfully reminds us that every successful person has faced setbacks, learned from them, and most importantly, refused to be defeated by failure.

This read will resonate particularly well with those in their early 20s or anyone contemplating a career change, offering timely wisdom for navigating pivotal life stages.

Personally, I found this book incredibly satisfying. It's not just theoretical; it's highly practical, action-oriented, and genuinely inspiring.

Warikoo clearly understands the pulse of the younger generation, motivating them to move beyond rigid binary thinking and embrace a world of possibilities.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to every college student searching for clear answers on career paths and the true habits that define successful lives.
