Young love is always perfect. Until it's not.

Cheyenne Grady is a total daddy's girl to her bad-ass father, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. She's funny, and kind, and she just wants that deep, earth-shattering love like her dad has with her school secretary, Holly. But Cheyenne's been looking in the wrong direction, because the only good that can come from the way she looks at Jeremy Whelan is a lesson in heartbreak.

Jeremy always wanted to prospect for the Forsaken Motorcycle Club and wear the same patch as his father. When a life-long dream becomes reality, Jeremy realizes that the outlaw lifestyle is not for the faint of heart. Nor is it easy on relationships. He wants to be a good man, but temptation is everywhere.

Cheyenne is beautiful, and strong, and exactly what Jeremy could have forever. As long as he doesn't screw it up.

Love is never more powerful than the first time.

Yawn. Another unoriginal story about a stupid pathetic heroine who completely forgives and chases after the loser hero who screws around ON her & WITH her best friend as well as in front of a room full of people in the MC Club. He doesn't even apologise for his sleazabag behaviour whilst supposing liking/loving her....

When are these authors going to write a strong worthy heroine who stands up to these cheating schmucks once and for all. Pathetic. OF COURSE she just can't resist him his slutty ways, did I mention that he actually NEVER even apologises or tries to in any way redeem his screwing around on her? In fact tells her until they're official he can & will bang anyone he wants. Puke.

It seems that with each book the couples become more saner and I really like that. Don't get me wrong the men are still overall bastards, and the women aren't as stable as they pretend to be. Though the fights are a little less, and the women hold very much steady against the men.

On a little side note, J.C. Emery has added an overview for the timelines of the books, which does come in handy. The story always overlaps partly with the previous book, so in the big plotline things do get mentioned multiple times.

Now to the two love birds. Both Cheyenne and Jeremy are on the brink of adulthood, although they've considered themselves adults for a while now. Jeremy is all about being a prospect and hopefully one day becoming a full member of the MC. Meanwhile Cheyenne has no real clue what to do all day. It seems lately all her attention is going towards Jeremy.

Though they've known each other their entire life, it's only the last year that their interest in each other grew. With the constant danger surrounding the club and their family, Jeremy has been spending a lot of time with Cheyenne. Though sometimes he's been giving her too much time and attention, putting his position with the club in danger.

Cheyenne is the daughter of a member, and not an actual member. There are times though she doesn't really see the difference. With all that has been happening, she's been doing her own investigation, which inadvertently only leads her into hot water with everyone. Club business is exactly that, not to be shared with even family.

The focus this time though was mostly on the couple and their connection. They are both so young, and still have a lot of learning to do. Jeremy makes some grave mistakes, which I totally don't condone and I was disgusted by his actions. Let's face it, the kid is a punk. Though I very much liked the way Cheyenne handled the situation. She is pissed, and it will take some serious groveling from him for her forgiveness.

Jeremy and Cheyenne easily admit the feelings they have for each other, but it's not enough to make a relationship work. Both will need to put in a lot of effort and trust. Still being the youngest of the bunch, means they also haven't made as many mistakes as the rest yet. So some obstacles are easier to overcome. I do love how committed they both are to each other and their relationship.

With the attention so much on Cheyenne and Jeremy, the action gets pushed back a lot. It isn't until almost the end that the real drama starts. There is still that threat coming from the italians, but it almost feels like it isn't allowed to interfere with the love story line. The next book is about Ian and Mindy, they both have a personal vendetta with the Italians, so I'm curious how that is going to play out and I have a feeling it's going to be a lot darker than this one.

I like the progress we make throughout these books, though it's a bit slow at times for me. The characters are definitely interesting and colorful. It was nice to see the club from this side, through Cheyenne and Jeremy. While it was made clear at multiple times how young they were, and they certainly behaved that way, their love almost felt the strongest of them all. I admit maybe I am a bit a sucker for young love against odds.

Jeremy is a prospect in the Bayonet Scars (and the son of a former member and the brother of one of the "girls" of the MC who is now an old lady), and Cheyenne is Grady's daughter (Grady and Holly are from the previous book, and we saw a lot of Jeremy and Cheyenne in that one).

Thus, this is the story of two kids growing up in the MC life. Cheyenne is trying to solve a mystery, but one that all the MC guys really know most of the answers to, but since she's not in the know, she thinks she's doing something that needs to be done. She's kind of naive and sometimes a little TSTL. Jeremy is teenage prospect and arrogant as all get out.

I have to be honest and say that this book stopped my forward progression through the series a while ago. I loved the first three books, but this one is just too NA for me and not as gritty or as interesting as the other ones in the series. I made my way through this one so I could get back to this good series. Glad I read it but it's really not my favorite.

Thanks for reading!

I have been eagerly awaiting Jeremy and Cheyenne's story. Since being introduced to them in THRASH and REV, I couldn't wait to see how these two teenagers ended up.

I really love both these characters. They acted out and did things that teenagers do in an attempt to prove how "adult" they are or to get the attention of the adults in their world. But they also had the added twist of being raised as part of an MC. They knew violence, they knew of the no holds barred sex and drugs. But what we get to see is how all those things effected these two teenagers and molded them into the adults they become.

Jeremy, at least in my opinion, had the hardest challenge. His father may have been a member and his sister may be the old lady of the club's VP, but Jeremy had to prove himself worthy of the club. That meant being a lacky and having to see and do things that left a lasting impression on Jeremy. And those impressions are not always good things. At the same time, as a young man he takes advantage of some of the things that are thrown at him by other club members in the name of trying to prove he's one of them...even if those events hurt the one person he cares about the most. There were many times were I felt sorry for Jeremy and wanted something different for him. But then he'd say or do something that proved he was committed to this life, he just needed to figure out how to fit Cheyenne and the club into his life.

I felt bad for Cheyenne, a lot. The poor girl was truly in love with Jeremy, but she was often the one that was forced to deal with the brunt of his bad attitude or actions. He broke her heart many times, but she couldn't let go...and that was as good thing. These two truly belonged together and Cheyenne proved to everyone in the MC that she was Jeremy's old lady and could deal with all the MC business that she might be faced with in the future.

The only thing that was missing from this story was more from Cheyenne and Jeremy as adults. I was really hoping when CRUSH become a full novel that we'd see them as adults and see what their relationship and life became. We get a glimpse of that in the epilogue, I just really wanted more.

For anyone that's been reading the Bayonet Scars series, this is a must read. It's fast paced and packs the emotional punch of the others. Definitely a book to pick up.

Returning to reading the Bayonet Scars was a pleasant, happy occasion because I’ve always loved reading the men of the Forsaken MC. They’re crude and crass and sexy and complete animals. And I love them all! Except maybe Ryan who was, and probably will always be a thorn in my side.

But Crush, in particular, features a boy of the Forsaken MC, a Prospect. You guys remember bratty Jeremy, don’t you? He was Nic’s brother (from Thrash) and I distinctly remember not thinking too much about Jeremy in the book because, well, he wasn’t the most mature of people back then. He was ungrateful and naive, and I was just really, really focused on Duke and Nic’s story. But Crush was just fucking brilliant.

Why? Because Jeremy was so much more than what we got to see in Thrash. Jeremy was a Prospect in the novel, trying desperately and harder than anyone to earn his Cut, but of course, having a huge ass crush on the daughter of the Sergeant-at-Arms of the MC wasn’t helping his case any. But the guy was hard-working and sincere and like all Forsaken men, he had more heart than he showed. Cheyenne Grady was the character I didn’t at all enjoy reading. She was all contrasting opinions and deliberately immature behaviour. She didn’t want to be that girl—the one who depended on boy, but did stuff that was completely contrary to what she believed in. Reading her POVs, inspite of knowing from the beginning that I wasn’t liking her too much was an exercise in futility. Her relationship with her father, though was quite enjoyable and it was funny to see a fully grown man being completely powerless in front of his teenage daughter!

Crush was definitely one of my highly anticipated instalments in the series and apart from my dislike for Cheyenne, I think Crush definitely met my expectations! Staying true to the rest of the series, it had tons of Mancuso “club business,” dark humour, young love, and of course, more swear words than your mother has ever used in her entire life.

Final-freakin-ly Chey and Jeremy's story, JC had me a little worried in the beginning with a new bada** biker coming onto the scene I kinda was team Daniel for awhile, I mean he has some major balls, "JERKING OFF TO YOUR TEXTS, he says. I freeze with my phone in my hands and stop breathing. I stay like that for a while until my phone chimes again with a follow-up text reading SORRY. TOO HONEST." Jeremy he needed to do a lot of growing up I mean he started the book out as a man-child type thing, "I was the one being mauled, not him. "You let me in your bedroom. What did you think was going to happen?" Rude much Jeremy, and honestly a few scenes he was acting like disgraceful little twit! Some of the things he did wouldn't have sat well with me. Slowly he grows some man balls and gets his s*** together, "let's get this straight," he says. "When you're my girl, you're my girl. Stop texting that efftard. You tell him who you belong to. When you belong to me, I'll keep my d*** wherever you want it - preferably in you- but I guess that can wait for a little bit. Point is, once we're together, we're effing together. Until then you got no reason to be pi**ed at me and if I eff up when we're together, then you can go ahead and effing shoot me." Honestly that really doesn't say much for his character. He then became a man and realized when his woman is happy he's happy, "baby, as long as I get to eff you on the pretty couch and under that effing shower head, I don't give a eff what any of this s*** looks like." I enjoyed this one it was a long a** wait and was glad to final-freakin-ly see these two get their story.

I understand there is a certain time line to this series, in fact the author does provide a small time line at the beginning of this book. So it was no surprise that the majority of this book consists of what's going on while the MC is getting ready to take Mancuso down. What I wasn't expecting was for this time line to move so freaking slow: 18 months before Mancuso's downfall, 17 months, 16 months etc... The book moved so slow with things that weren't really that interesting. I always liked Cheyenne, being Grady's daughter I thought she would have been made of sterner stuff, but she spent most of the time crying, having tantrums, plotting/planning an investigation that she got wrong from beginning to end and being hung up on Jeremy. Yeah she was just a teenager but growing up in a MC lifestyle, you'd think she'd be more mature.

The 'relationship' between her and Jeremy was a joke, they didn't respect each other enough to be in a relationship and Jeremy sleeping with her BFF totally proved it. What bothered me was the fact that she totally forgave Jeremy for his transgressions, but didn't forgive her friend. It took both of them to do the deed so why did the friend become 'persona non grata' but manwhore Jeremy remained a perfect specimen in her eyes? As women we tend to forget these things, but just to have the man we supposedly love, we'll forgive him any and every thing and in return hate the other party like she tied his ass up and raped him...that shit was just stupid.

I wanted to like this book, I really did, but I just hate reading about young, stupid, immature people, pretending to be adults...

Did not expect the 4th book will be about Jeremy and Chey. I expected them to be on the latter part of the series. Though unexpected, I still loved how the author wrote their story. You will get to love and hate both Jeremy and Chey here. As the the story progress you will get to see how both the characters grow and mature in the harsh world their living in. 👍

Cheyenne and Jeremy are the next generation of Forsaken testing boundaries, and each other. Both have impulse control issues, and mouths that keep them in trouble. Cheyenne's dad is Grady, the bullying grump from Rev (Bayonet Scars, #3) by J.C. Emery . This is a coming of age type of New Adult read, so it is pretty angsty. Also must warn my friends that care about such things, there is no technical cheating, .

** JOSIE'S 4 STAR REVIEW **

Crush is the 4th book in the Bayonet series, and I love how the author is going about this series and leading up to the final show down with the Mancuso’s. This story is detailed. The author gives readers a count down or a timeline if you will to the take down of the Italian mob, the Mancuso’s, as well as their hunt for Alex and her brother. I enjoyed this story a lot more because not only is it about club drama but it’s also about an innocent crush that turns into a full blown love affair. Crush’s story is about Jeremy and Cheyenee. Both whom have been raised around the Forsaken MC and are familiar with the going on’s of the club.

We first met Jeremy in the 2nd book. He’s Nicole’s little brother. Jeremy has always wanted to have a bike of his own and prospect for the Forsaken MC’s. The MC life is all he has known. He knows he is not good at school and the only way to get ahead in life is to wear the patch of the Forsaken. Jeremy wants to be a part of a family, the brotherhood, to feel belonged too, a place where he is accepted. The author lets people see the inner battle Jeremy goes through while he is prospecting for the MC, the things he must do, the many hang-around’s and Lost girls, as well as the time and sacrifice he must put in. He is asked to watch over Cheyenne, the girl he has crushed on over the years. Little does he know his choice in life will not only lead him directly to Cheyenne but also might be their end.

Cheyenne is the daughter of the Forsaken’s Sargent-at-Arms. She is sheltered from a lot of the club life and is treated like a princess. She is popular at school and dates the jocks or popular boys. She is always protected and has someone form the club watching out for her, but the one boy she crushes on doesn’t seem to be interested in her. Cheyenne is inexperienced and doesn’t understand how things are for Jeremy.

Jeremy and Cheyenne eventually go out on their first date and it only ends in catastrophe. Where the two just go their own ways. Cheyenne makes the mistake of running to her daddy when things go wrong. She also starts texting and having somewhat of a relationship with another biker, Daniel. IF you know anything about this MC, that is a big no-no. This upsets Jeremy and he does not want to be a part of it. Things are hard for him. Prospecting for an MC is hard. You can’t show weakness and you have to constantly drop what you are doing when the club asks something from you. On his 18th birthday the club decides to throw him a birthday party and they give him a “Lost Girl” as a gift. Cheyenne is not supposed to go to these events but when she sneaks into the club and witnesses Jeremy with the lost girl she seeks comfort in Daniel. Only to witness Daniel in the same act. Cheyenne is hurt, angry and wants nothing to do with bikers. I found myself mad at both characters in this story at times. They made several mistakes during times because of the age. They came across as immature at times and I just wanted to shake them. There is no denying the two are meant for each other but Cheyenne’s father and the club will be a major factor in their future. Things are strained for the couple and when they finally hash things outs, Cheyenne’s life is put in danger. Jeremy needs to make a decision either his cut or Cheyenne’s safety. Will Jeremy let Cheyenne go to ensure her safety and his status in the club? Will the Mancuso’s destroy the club and finally take Alex and Michael? The final days of the Mancuso Family are coming to an end and the Forsaken MC is faced with more danger and violence. Who will come out on top? We will find out soon!!!

Great read ~ MC kids POV ~

First off, I need to mention that this is a new review as my older one is no where to be found. I'm glad I actually decided to read this again because I'd forgotten just how much I loved this story.
The book that preceded this one, Rev, revolved around Forsaken MC's grouchy Sergeant at Arms, Sterling Grady and the frustration that he and the rest of the club feel trying to keep their town and their women safe. Grady has his woman, Holly, and his seventeen year old daughter, Cheyenne, that drive him nuts and vice versa as he's no picnic to live with either. He's balls to the wall when it comes to keeping the two of them safe, and for a good reason: there's unsolved trouble in Fort Bragg. The problem for Grady is Cheyenne—the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Crush revolves around the lives of MC kids, Cheyenne, and eighteen year old, Jeremy, who lives with his sister, Nic and her man, Duke. Cheyenne and Jeremy are the PG-13 version of MC romance drama ~ as they should be. Why would you want to read this? Simply put, they rock. She's conniving, sassy, and knows her way around the clubhouse and club life. She's lived with bossy, alpha, stubborn bikers since she was born. You know she's gonna make a perfect ol' lady one day. She's in love with Jeremy too. But ... because this is a story about teenagers, there's plenty of drama, naivety, anger, raging hormones, and heartbreak. There was only one part I found a bit over the top—c'mon, a seventeen year old girl helping to take down some seriously bad dudes? Hmm, I wasn't a fan but I'll let it slide because Cheyenne is well, Grady's kid.

I'm not gonna forget about Jeremy. I. Love. Him! He's prospecting for the MC—all he wants is his patch. He's badass, moody, and gorgeous, as well as smart, respectful, patient, and in love with Cheyenne. This poor kid is constantly in trouble with the club because not only is he being run ragged (we know this about prospects—being told to do anything at any given moment) by the MC, but as Cheyenne keeps getting herself into hot water, Jeremy feels compelled to bail her out. Unfortunately for him, he pays the consequences of (sort of) disobeying direct orders from the club.

Jeremy and Cheyenne are meant to be together: the two of them are strong enough to navigate the highs and lows of being teens—including the fact they have to answer to an MC. Their relationship manages to overcome a decent amount of obstacles, and you can't help but root for them to have a bright future together.

This series is so good because it has a colorful, unique, and eclectic cast of characters that we get to know through their own drama, yet lucky for us, they don't leave. Each new installment may be focused on another member, but it's not solely done so without the rest of the crew. Forsaken MC is a family—one who laughs and cries together, parties like it's no ones business, celebrates new lives, and grieves for their dead—they live by their own code, make no excuses for it, and most importantly, will fight to the end for their MC brothers. Love this series ~ love this book ~ easy five star read for me ~ another great read by JC Emery

As I write these reviews for the Bayonet Scars Series, especially given how many MC books I’ve been devouring lately, and how much I moan about the quantity over the quality in this area, I will say that I am surprised this series is not more widely well-known and recommended because hell, yes it’s gritty, brutal and pretty graphic in places but it’s well written, with a different spin on the MC storylines, and when the lines in a scene put it into your head in 3D, while your heart is breaking because it packs that much of a visceral punch, then for me they’ve brought that world to life and that’s a job well done.

Crush (#4)

Young love is always perfect. Until it's not.

Cheyenne Grady is a total daddy's girl to her bad-ass father, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. She's funny, and kind, and she just wants that deep, earth-shattering love like her dad has with her school secretary, Holly. But Cheyenne's been looking in the wrong direction, because the only good that can come from the way she looks at Jeremy Whelan is a lesson in heartbreak.

Cheyenne is a total mini Grady, Forsaken to her bones and attitude is a way of life! I love her!

Jeremy is amazingly sweet, loyal and protective, when you consider what a shitty childhood he had yeah, he gets it wrong sometimes (Forsaken Male – nuff said!) but his heart is always in the right place. He`s hormonal, angry and seen way too much for one so young, torn between the club and his girl, his birthday celebration showing this oh so well.

This is not a new adult college boy meets girl, little bit of angst, HEA story. They live in a harsh world, deal in reality not naiveté and innocence so it’s a rocky road they travel, but relationships always take work and with determination, forgiveness and perseverance they can get there, can't they?

I really did not expect to enjoy this one, I'm not a lover of stories where the characters are this young, usually preferring more mature leads but while the main focus is Cheyenne and Jeremy the continuation of the overall story, the interaction between all the characters we already know and love (with the exception of Ryan obviously!) kept this from being one I just read to keep up with the series to one I liked in its own right.

Note to Author……………

I want to request that the next story be Ian's please because the more I see of him the more intrigued I am, tortured soul bad boy biker. ** wipes drool **

I was gifted the ARC from the author (thank you) in exchange for a honest review.

Crush by JC Emery is a novella in the Bayonet Scares series. Crush starts out with just that. With two kids having a crush on each other. The difference with a regular everyday crush and a crush when your part of a MC is a little intense, or at least it can be. When you spend your whole life around a lifestyle like this, it is all you know. It has always been a dream of Jeremy's to be a part of the motorcycle club, he wanted the brotherhood, and to make his dad proud.

Cheyenne has always been popular in school and dated mostly jocks with the occasional band geek. She is beautiful and has a smart mouth. She has also grown up around the club all of her life. Her dad is the Sargent-at-Arms for the Forsaken Motorcycle Club. Even with her growing up around the club, she has been sheltered from most of what really went on inside that clubhouse most of the time.

These two are attracted to each other but they are more worried about Cheyenne's dad and other club members will think and do, that they really can't be together. With that problem along with communication problems and all the crap still going on with the Italian's in club, things are just intense and they don't seem to be able to be able to get on the same page.

Coming of age and falling in love for the first time would be hard enough on it's on but in front of hard headed bikers is a nightmare. Especially when you an 18 year old guy trying to be one of those hard headed bikers yourself. You can't show any sign of weakness, you can't refuse any of the "lost girls" when your not in a true relationship. When the club throws a New Years Eve party/ birthday party for Jeremy and Cheyenne sneaks in lots of things are seen. Feelings are hurt, innocence lost, and something's just can't be undone.

We all thought we were grown at 17 and 18 years old. We might have been graduated from high school and legally able to vote, but were we really grown? I sure thought I was, but my emotions and feeling weren't even mature yet. You learn so much in your early 20's. These two seem to learn a lot over a few months, growing up in that environment, I'm sure I would grow up quicker too. I loved the way Jeremy wanted to protect Cheyenne. She was always his biggest cheerleader too.

I give Crush 4 stars

* * * obsessed by books arc given for an honest review * * *

I love mc books, love them , but it took a little while for me to get into this book. Jeremy is your average teen/young man the only thing is he wants to be part of the Forsaken MC, like his dad and he has the hots for the Sergeant at Arms daughter Cheyenne. Cheyenne is your preppy high school girls, but she has mc blood running through her vains and she has a crush on a prospect. Young love is hard on its own, but when you are surrounded by mc rules and codes young love is impossible. Really enjoyed this book, I haven't read the others,so now I plan on going back to read them.

Crush

I've looked forward to this book for a long time. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy reading this book as much as the others in the series. Cheyenne kind of got on my nerves with the way she was trying to get involved in "club business". When she followed,Jeremy into a dangerous situation nearly getting herself killed after he told her to stay, I was just fed up with her immaturity. She was only 18 so I guess that was to be expected. The writing was excellent and the storyline good but just wished Cheyenne had not been so immature.

I love my biker books, and I thought the 2nd and 3rd books in this series were great, but there was just too much I couldn't get on with in this book. I'll give it another try before the next book comes along, so I'm up to date with what's happening, but for now, it's not for me.

Crush was a perfect addition to the Bayonet Scars series. It's got everything that the rest of the books in the series have with the added bonus of a little more angst due to the starting age of the characters. I do love my angst! I was very excited to see how J.C. Emery would pull off Jeremy and Cheyenne's story since they're younger than the rest of the group and I wasn't disappointed at all.

That's one thing Dad always made sure I understood--we protect our women. Always.

One of the things I like the best about this series is that you never really say goodbye to the characters you've met in the previous books. Well I shouldn't say never ...things do...happen. Their stories and their lives are all woven together and you've got sort of two main story lines going on simultaneously that connect everyone together. Situations that wouldn't do either of them justice to wrap up with just one book. The stories just keep going and bring more trouble before they eventually will be resolved. Each set of couples bring on different points of view and elements to the story lines. I love the fact that just because one couple's book ends doesn't mean their story does with it. You still see new events and such, just through a different point of view!

I never feel more at home than I do right here on Forsaken land.

You get to know Jeremy quite a bit in the second book, Thrash, which is about Duke and Jeremy's sister Nic. I was excited to get to know him more and see what would become of him and hopefully have him be someone who's good for Cheyenne. As hard as it is to do, I really adored this kid. With Jeremy's childhood it's sort of a miracle he's not more messed up than he already is. I mean he makes bad choices sure and he's difficult and has that typical I-know-everything-better-than-you seventeen year old boy attitude and a lot of anger in the beginning. But he's also protective and there's a sweetness to him as well. He's not all hardness straight to the core. He'd always leave me feeling hopeful for him.

I may or may not have earned a reptuation over the last few months as being a slight pain in the ass, but I'm Sterling Grady's daughter what else can anyone expect from me?

I freaking love Cheyenne. She's like a seventeen year old girl version of her Dad, Grady, who just so happens to be my favorite character so far. As much as I was looking forward to seeing how Cheyenne and Jeremy's story would unfold, I think I was even more excited to see more interactions between her and her father. She has this way of wrapping just about everyone she meets around her little finger and batting her eyelashes to get what she wants. Well sometimes at least. She's funny and she's smart and so much fun to read about.

Sometimes it feels like I can't get anything right no matter how hard I try.

Being young and in love is hard enough, heck it's hard even when you're older, but being in the dangerous world and situations that these two are just makes everything that much more difficult to navigate. It's not like other coming of age type stories, there isn't this youthful innocence and naivety to it. These two have seen a lot and experienced a lot already. They both screw up on more than one occasion and it's a bit heartbreaking at times. But there's also a sweetness and that passion that comes from a first love where the other person just consumes you. I feel like J.C. Emery did a really good job of capturing that teenage voice with these two characters and showing their growth as they age throughout the story.

Ian's always been good to me, but I know he has a dark side that puts people on edge.

The books in this series just keep getting better and better. I'm absolutely hooked and I'm always both terrified and excited to keep turning the pages with each one to see what's in store for this group of people next. I don't know how long we have to wait for Ian's story to come out next which I am highly intrigued about. Everyone has their issues but there's something darker and mysterious about Ian so I cannot wait to get inside his head and figure him out. Halfway in I'm still very much in love with this series and am fully prepared to drop everything with each new installment and dive right back in!

purple shadow my review

I absolutely fell in love with this series the moment I began reading Ride.  The MC and the women they love are great characters, full of humor, sass, ruggedness, strength, love and passion.  Crush was no exception.

In Thrash, we met Jeremy as Nic's punk kind brother who thinks he's man enough to do as he pleases without her his sister's guidance.  Giving her a hard time every chance he could; but all that changes when Duke becomes the male role model he didn't expect.   In Rev, we're introduced to Cheyenne, the daughter of Grady (Forsaken, Sergeant at Arms).  She sweet, girly and thoroughly knows the MC life.   Both Thrash and Rev were great in introducing these two characters.  We get to see Jeremy and Cheyenne as teenagers as their lives become more involved with the MC.  With Crush, we get their story as they mature and grow; all while falling in love.

Each of them grew up with different experiences of what MC life means.  With Jeremy's father in prison, the MC life experience was limited until Duke takes on the role of being his mentor while he prospects for the MC.  Cheyenne was the perfect blend of princess and biker chick.  While she may have had her room decorated in pink and wore neon nail polish, she knew how to shoot a gun and had plenty of uncles in the MC looking out for her.  All in addition to the fact her father was EXTREMELY over protective.  It was cute she always referred to him as her helicopter because of all his hovering. :)  Cheyenne knows the MC rules and of the loyalty that life requires.

Once Jeremy beings to prospect, his duties require him to spend more time with Cheyenne which causes her to notice him and causing his long time feeling for her to grow.   So, as the potential war with the Mancuso family continues, Jeremy and Cheyenne's love begins.  Their journey into adulthood was sweet and very humorous.  I had several LOL moments.

These two were just the cutest.  Jeremy, being on the cusp between teenager and man, tries hard to find his place in hopes of being patched in to the Forsaken.  But his affections for Cheyenne keep getting in the way and threatening his chance at becoming one of the brothers.  Watching these two grow up into adults all while their adolescent infatuation grows into an intense love was a treat.

Crush is an great continuation to the Bayonet Scars series.  I give it 2 thumbs up, 5 gold stars and a high five for being so sweet, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable.

3 Crushed Stars!

So I do like this series and it's one of the series that helped me get out of my really long reading funk but this book was definitely not my fave of the series so far, and the reason I think so is because I felt like Cheyenne's immaturity was too prominent in the book for me to fully love her character

Cheyenne is the son of the srgt of arms Grady and has only known club life her whole young life so it was not surprising for her to fall for one of the young prospect Jeremy who happens to be Nic's little sister.

Cheyenne is like a daughter to the whole club so it's hard for them to see her grown up, but she wants to prove to the club and her family that she's stronger than they think she is. So with her 18year old mind she thinks that she can solve the mystery to what happened to Holly and Mindy, but she gets herself into trouble along the way.

She's crushing hard on Jeremy, whom has always liked her but has never noticed him until he wore the club's cut. So he was a bit gun shy with her and made some unwise choices but he's young and is also trying to prove himself within the club.

The more she gets herself in trouble the more she gets tangled up with Jeremy. Cheyenne has to get over Jeremy's shitty actions and choices if she wants to be with him. Once she gets over it they go all in, which is a bit over the top but very 18 year old like where you would die with the other, yada, yada, yada.

Anyhoo. I love how this series and how it's all playing out, and I can't wait to read about Ian and Mindy. With this book it gave you a come more background information while Jeremy and Chey work their way through young vulnerable love. I was frustrated that I didn't dig Chey because it ruined a bit of the story for me as my nerves were getting grated with her immaturity and the fact that I didn't see how she really didn't get the life when that is all she really knows but hey it has been a LONG time since I was 18 so sometimes it is hard for me to relate to it.

Jeremy and Cheyenne's book!!! Ahhhhh! I've been waiting for this one, I tell ya. Forsaken is one of my favorite motorcycle clubs, and Jer and Chey are definitely some favorites among the club. If you haven't started this series, I definitely recommend it. It has many different facets, and JC Emery just writes it perfectly.

Cheyenne is the daughter of the Sergeant at Arms in Forsaken. You get to know her a bit in Grady's book, Rev, and you know she is a pistol of a girl. Most of Crush (but not all) is written in her point of view, so you really get to see everything this girl is going through and thinking. I just love Cheyenne. She's young, and even a bit naive at times, but she has got a huge heart, a bit of a daring streak, and just a lot of personality. I imagine that she walks into a room and the whole air changes, you know she is there. And she has a crush on Jeremy, who we have seen throughout the series also.

Jeremy is a prospect, and he's also the younger brother of Nic, who we met in Thrash. He is about as sexy and hot as an 18 year old can get, and he will definitely make you wish you were there. He's working his ass off to get his top rocker in the club, and it's not always easy. For one thing, he's trying to keep an eye on Chey so she doesn't get herself into trouble. For another, the guys are being hard on him because he is the
youngest prospect in the history of the club. But in the way Jeremy handles himself, you know big things await this young man. He's got that Alpha side to him that all of the guys in the club have, but Chey has his heart, and that's just how both of them like it.

There's a lot going on in the story. They are still dealing with issues from Mancuso and the taking back of Alex and Michael. Things are happening from all different sides, and the club is trying like hell to keep their women safe, as they so often seem to be a target for the mafia to come after. Crush really focuses on relationships within the club. We get a closer look at the father-daughter dynamic between Grady and Chey, along with Chey's first true love of Jeremy. Holly is still recovering from her tragedy in Rev. There may even be problems with some other club members. It's a lot to take in, and it never leaves you feeling like you haven't been on an awesome roller coaster.

Jeremy and Cheyenne... sigh. They are so cute and romantic... and troubled. They have a rocky start. There are a lot of hormones and emotions, not to mention outside influences to deal with. But through it all, even when one or the other messes up, you are rooting for them. They even heat it up and make your toes curl. I love these two together, they've worked hard for their relationship.

Something awesome about this book is the epilogue. It's fantastic. I love how it sums up their situation, but still leaves the series open for more. And there is definitely more. The next in the series is Burn, which is Ian's book. I definitely want to read this one, because I have a feeling there is so much more to Ian than meets the eye!

If you like motorcycle club books, you will like the Bayonet Scars series. Unlike other books you will want to start with the first book RIDE, THRASH and REV before you read CRUSH.
J.C. Emery did such a great job with connecting these books together. Crush is part of the story about Cheyenne aka Miss Priss to the club and Jeremy aka Baby Boy.

Cheyenne’s father is Grady Sergeant of Arms in the club. She is a teenager who skips class and will try to get away with what she can as long as she does not get caught. A new counselor takes an interest in her school life, which leads her into going to Cheyenne’s home to have her fatter sign some papers. Cheyenne is growing up, she hates being treated like a little girl, and her dad is trying to keep her. She is starting to like boy’s one in particular she is crushing on Jeremy. Growing up in the club she knows to get any information you have to sneak around and listen. Club business stays in the club but she is on a mission to find out information. This gets her into different messes she also learns things she does not want to know. She also learns the hard way sneaking around listening to conversations can put you in danger. Find out what information she learns that she ends up in the middle of one big dangerous problem.

Jeremy wants to prospect for the club so one day he can be Forsaken but he is too young. He does a huge thing for the club which helps him become the youngest prospect. He also grew up in the club with his father being a member of even as he sits in prison. His sister is the Old Lady to a member. Who teaches Jeremy how to be a real man he should be. Things are changing in his life so fast he is enjoying so of it and confused about the rest. He is crushing on Cheyenne also but relationships are not on his mind. He wants to be around her and acts like he does not when he is. She is mouthy and he can not let her disrespect him in front of the club. Finally they make the decision to be together. Is it too late with all the danger around the club, with her putting herself smack in the middle of the biggest problem the club has?

Cheyenne and Jeremy are a good couple; each one of them loves the other but is it enough for their relationship last when he has to let her go?

Crush is a great book, I am glad of had the privilege to read it and the first three before it. With everyone having their personal problems and still dealing with the clubs big problem you really have to live in the book, I spent the last week or so reading all these books. Not only do I recommend you read Crush, I recommend you read the whole series. That is my opinion.
