The Little Book of Big Girl Things

Rate this book
This book is not for kids. It’s for sad (adult) girlies)

Do you ever wonder how everyone knows what they should be doing? Everyone around you is talking about getting married or investing in the stock market and your biggest worry is, ‘What’s for dinner? . . . Oh and did I leave the stove on?’

If this sounds like you, you’ve picked up the right book. Wait. . . this isn’t a manual on how to get better at adulting because I’m clearly not very good at it. It’s a collection of silly and serious comics that’ll make you go, ‘OH! So this happens to everyone? I guess I’m not alone in this’. That’s something, right?

This book discusses everything from everyday problems that comes with being a girlie to depression, anxiety, body image, getting help & self-discovery. (I haven’t discovered anything yet though, LOL).

The Little Book of Big Girl Things by Akshara Ashok, is a very cute little illustrated book which is as relatable as it can get! It’s a collection of silly and serious comics that’ll make you go, ‘OH! So this happens to everyone? I guess I’m not alone in this’. That’s something, right?

The book as it claims, definitely feels like a warm hug. Makes you feel less lonely and more seen in this whole world. I would say not only just adults (as the synopsis mentions) but even girls who are in their late teen years should read this.

The whole illustrated and comic style of this book makes it more fun and rewarding. A lot of topics of adulting and girlhood are highlighted by the author. The helps you embrace and remember the little joys of life and beautiful everyday things that matter over the daily struggles of life.

The Little Book of Big Girl Things is the book I wish every girl could read. Never have I felt more seen. Flipping through its pages feels like a warm hug, a reminder that I’m not alone in this whole adulting scam.

If there’s one book I’d recommend to anyone just going through life, it’s this one. It might look fun and lighthearted, but don’t be fooled—this book talks about the most serious things in the most fun, relatable way. And that’s what makes it so special. It truly makes you feel like you’re not alone.

With its comic-style format, this book captures everyday struggles in the most engaging way—mental health, body image, self-doubt, social anxiety, making friends, balancing life, and even figuring out relationships. It doesn’t just tell you that you’re doing fine; it makes you believe it.
Beyond its adorable doodles, this book is filled with moments that hit close to home. It reassures, it empowers, and it gives hope for what’s to come. It’s the kind of book that helps me feel confident in my choices, satisfied with where I am, and reminds me not to compare my journey with everyone else’s.

This book is a love letter to the small things that matter—the little victories, the everyday efforts, the simple act of showing up. It reminds you that you don’t have to have everything figured out. You’ll find your way in your own time, and even if you don’t, that’s okay—good things will happen. You don’t have to fit in. The right people will find you when you need them. You don’t have to succeed at everything. Just trying, just taking it day by day, is enough.

Most importantly, this book reminds you that happiness isn’t about meeting expectations—it’s about embracing yourself, imperfections and all. And that’s exactly what this book embraces so beautifully.

If you’ve ever overthought a text, eaten cake straight from the box, or questioned why adulthood doesn’t come with a manual—congratulations! This book was written for you.
This is the much needed laugh-out-loud, painfully relatable illustrated book of life, womanhood, and everything in between. It's like browsing your own diary—except funnier and with nicer doodles.
The book tackles everything from body image, mental health, and relationships to the absurdity of being an adult. One moment, you’re giggling at a comic about period cravings; the next, you’re hit with a thought-provoking insight about self-worth. The writing is light, witty, and effortlessly charming, making it a quick but impactful read.
What makes it so special is its honesty. Akshara doesn't sugarcoat the suckiness of growing up—she owns it. She reminds us that it's okay to be lost, that self-love isn't linear, and that no one really knows what they're doing (even if they have a fancy planner).
At only 144 pages, it's a book you'll read in one sitting but keep going back to whenever life becomes too much. If you're seeking a boost of confidence, a mood lift, or simply something to assure you that you're not alone in your craziness—this book is the one.
Final verdict? Read it, laugh with it, gift it to your bestie.Just be ready to say, "OMG, same," at least a hundred times.

Omg! What a cute little book is this. The thoughts, illustrations, what we big girls feel in everyday life like a rollercoaster ride is shared here in a witty, comic way! I loveed it big time!

This book is not for kids. Truly. If you have that sad vibe in your life lol haha how to explain it that life feels at times full of unpredictable YOU! You need this book to make you smile cuz its too relatable! One who overthinks, feels too much, and sometimes just want to disappear into a story that understands them.

The writing is raw, I mean the illustrations! emotional, and honest. It doesn’t sugarcoat feelings.

If you’ve ever felt lost or lonely, this book will feel like a warm hug. These days are going pathetic with me. Specially the nausea kills me. This book comes as a relief. It sees me. It gets me.
Read it when the world feels heavy. It won’t fix everything, but it will make you feel less alone.

The Little Book of Big Girl Things is a collection of quirky comics that balance humor and real-life struggles in a way that's both refreshing and comforting. The author, Akshara Ashok, shares her perspective on the chaos of adulthood, touching on everything from the small, everyday anxieties to more profound topics like mental health, body image, and the challenges that come with being a woman. It's a little messy, a lot relatable, and undeniably honest in its exploration of life's imperfections.

This pretty comic book effortlessly blends lighthearted humor with raw vulnerability. Akshara's ability to make the serious feel silly, and the silly feel serious, all the while making it so relatable to everyone is just brilliant. The illustrations have a warmth to them. It feels like a conversation with a friend who gets it- imperfections and all. It's an interesting book even perfect as a gift to any girl in our lives.

This is one of those books that feels like it was written just for you. It’s funny, real, and incredibly relatable. The author perfectly captures the everyday thoughts, struggles, and wins that many of us experience, especially as women.

From body image worries and social anxieties to moments of self-care and personal growth, the book covers it all in a light-hearted yet meaningful way. The witty illustrations and short anecdotes make it such an easy read. I couldn’t put it down and ended up finishing it in one go!

While the title may suggest it’s mainly for women, I genuinely feel that everyone should read this, even men. The book offers a glimpse into the experiences and emotions that women often go through, which can help create understanding and empathy.
