"Leaping into a shirt and thrusting his arms into his pant legs, the Absentminded Fellow dashes out into the London streets, frantically hails a cab, rushes through the train station and right into an abandoned car. Three days later, to his surprise, he's still in London...This droll character portrait will quickly have listeners chiming in on the chorus."-Kirkus Reviews

Aside from Marc Rosenthal's wacky, Toonerville Trolley-inspired artwork, I found little to like in this pointless and monotonous tale of a fellow that somehow manages to get through life despite his extreme stupidity.

One morning an absentminded man put his clothes on wrong and rushed to catch a train to London. He went to the florist’s first to try to buy a train ticket and then rushed to board the train, settling in an old abandoned car. Funny rhyming story with a repeated refrain. Humorous illustrations, and a witty ending.

From the time he puts his pants on his arms until he tries to buy a train ticket at the flower shop, “that absentminded fellow from Portobello Road” bumbles from one muddle to the next.

Another book I found, by accident, while trying to find read-aloud books. This was a very silly book about a very absentminded man from Portobello Road in London who does everything wrong. The Marc Rosenthal's illustrations really make the book. They remind me of old comic book art, like Popeye and Tin-Tin.

This is a hilarious story about a guy who just doesn't have all of his marbles. The students will enjoy laughing at him and all the crazy things he does throughout the story. They can also be a part of the story by reciting the repeated line on every page.

This story rhymes and has very silly illustrations and there is a refrain "oh that absent minded man from portobello road" that the listeners can participate with.

Silly shenanigans ensue as The Absentminded Fellow stumbles, bumbles, and mumbles his way from morning til night to get to London town.
