This is my least favorite of this series so far. The book is repetative and it felt like I was reading the same exact scene in every chapter - even the extended epilogue was the same thing said over and over again. The characters themselves were fine, not really relatable or even passionate. While neither main character was dislikable I didn’t find myself falling in love with either of them, which was disappointing. This whole book just felt very watered down. Even the spicy scenes were lacking. Overall not my favorite by this author.
A Lesson in Ambition and Abduction This narrative ignites with a flash and ends in a blaze. It is a study of corrosive family meddling, which drove one character toward rigid control and the other into rebellion. The characters mature through a compelling dynamic: Magnus learns to temper his command, reserving his softer side for Charlotte. She, in turn, saves her fire for him alone.
It is an engaging story and a spirited lesson for any gentleman: If you don't fancy a parson’s knot, skip the abduction.
It had a really good beginning, very captivating. I did feel the back & forth & the arguing, with them did get a little tedious. Though not nearly as tedious as the weeks he spent ignoring her.
As the book progressed sadly there was still some back & forth & cold moments, but they also started to be closer & there were moments were great to read, a lot of fun & sweet moments & the extended epilogue was really great
Magnus is a disappointing character. He had no stamina in the few explicit scenes. How embarrassing. Their mutual release is stated once and sadly not described. How do you end a steamy scene without completion? They just roll over and cuddle. Sweet but um what just happened?? Plus, he had the emotional intelligence of a 15-year-old for most of the book. I doubt I will read this author again.
Wonderful book and characters. Magnus has made a promise to his dying father to never trust a woman, there by building walls around himself. Charlotte loves him and hopes to break through his walls, he drives her away and realizes she brings out the best in him. They get back together and get their HEA and forever truse live. Highly recommend. Happy reading!😊👍
Charlotte determined to stop her friend Latin it's wedding. Getting stopped by Magnus a friend of the groom, infuriated Charlotte. Due to a storm she must stay at Magnus's home. She goes home and finds out her parents have accepted an offer for marriage. The events that follow are worth a non stop reading. Great series
Both Magnus and Charlotte had had difficult childhoods. When they first met it was under rather strange circumstances. Neither were comfortable together even though there was plenty of chemistry between them. Finally after almost destroying their relationship they were able to find their happily ever after.
Follows the formula. After so many books, it would be a blessing for the reader to not have jump between the internet and booktext. Graphic sex scenes aren't necessary for this reader and I suspect most other readers would agree. Chararacter growth is the most powerful effect of these books.
This story has lots of emotions. There are funny moments, shocking ones and then then sad and serious moments. The story I think did drag a little long and I could have done without the graphic scenes, but the extended epilogue is a wonderful ending to an interesting story.
Troubled characters who lives have been scarred. Can they find each other to heal their own wounds? Experience the soul searching destiny as they find each other through love.
I am done with this author… I’ve read the three books in this series, and every one of the main male characters was a rude jerk beyond belief- drama for no reason, miscommunication for no reason, cruelty for no reason… And this one had almost no steam—-
Charlotte and Magnus’ story is filled with conflict from page one on through. Their strong characters are making the story and giving it the excitement needed to keep you reading on. With a little mystery thrown in to add to it and keep you interested.
I enjoy this author, Harriet Caves. She has lovely romantic stories and engaging characters. You will never be sorry for reading her books. I will recommend this book to my friends and family. Read for yourself and enjoy every minute!
It took two very stubborn people a long time to admit the love that brought them together. Once they did, it all came together. Love, family, forgiveness were well worth the journey!
This was a fantastic story! I loved the characters and the plot. The primary character was no fainting flower but strong and stubborn. There were some slightly graphic parts but not too much.
Recency romance with an arranged marriage foiled by a scandal with the couple having to turn an attraction into love done in a wonderful way by Harriet
Charlotte and Magnus Magnus marries Charlotte to save their reputations. This book had a storyline that kept me interested until the very end. I would definitely recommend this book.
