I've never done this for any of the books I've read, and maybe it's silly of me to do this for a smut, but I've never seen any valid comment that represents my idea about it, and I enjoyed it a lot and want other people to get into it if they have doubts but it has piqued their interest.
First of all, I know that the mainly homo relationships are in the side stories, and the main story is broader.
That this side story came out in the boom of Yuri and Yaoi content back during Covid, but like it or not, it is a direct continuation of the main story, and it will affect your experience indefinitely.
For me, as horrific as the things that happen to Minho are, I wasn't feeling sympathetic towards him up until Wokyung actually went too far. This will not happen for you If you just jump straight into this, you will actually feel bad for Minho, while he does deserve some punishment to some extent and you will not feel that way if you skip the main book.
Just in case you still want to skip the main plot and head straight to this, I'll put a summary of the main source before reviewing this, but I don't recommend skipping it.
Summary of Sadistic Beauty:
The story begins with Dona moving to his brother's place, without being aware of his roommate.
His roommate, Haesol, falls for Dona, even though she is only into M&S plays.
Dona is a successful novel writer, who is working on her comeback novel.
She is still somewhat hung up on her ex from back in college days, which now is a professor at the same university, in the same Literature major that Haesol is also attending.
Dona and Haesol play around for a while, until he becomes serious about them, which Dona can't handle, because Minho, the professor, has traumatized her when it comes to love.
Dona stops their sex plays and moves out of the house, she simultaneously gets into verbal arguments with Minho after seeing him at the university, and takes revenge on him by dominating him, tying him up, and beating him.
The story continues until the main character of Side Story A pops into the story, she falls head over heels for Dona at first sight, and manages to sleep with her.
Haesol meanwhile has a hard time getting over her and decides that she not being in his life is worse than her just playing around.
At some point the three of them even have a threesome!
In between all this havoc, a new character is introduced, Wokyung. Yes, him, he's the one that helps Haesol discover his new revelation.
There is this long flashback section of the University days of Dona, Minho, and Wokyung.
Dona and Minho are part of this literature club which Wokyung, a business major joins after seeing Dona shoo some other guys on campus.
In the club, Minho is the only person that undermines each and every writing Dona has and they argue, a LOT!
Though they seem to be secretly dating, and Dona is way more submissive than what she is in the present timeline.
Meanwhile, this is the important part for which I emphasize why reading the main material is very important, the author does not back down from portraying Minho as a total JERK, an ASSHOLE, etc...
He is the embodiment of toxic masculinity.
He continues to destroy Dona's writing esteem while they're dating.
Meanwhile Dona and Wokyung become friends over shit talking about Minho.
Then the day of reckoning comes, Minho talks bad about Dona's writing in front of other boys and Dona overhears him.
She is obviously devastated, and goes to Wokyung's place.
He asks her to take it out on him, so she starts choking him, then he teaches her how to tie him up, and they have sex.
Those two break up and these two keep sleeping around with each other.
Wokyung's end goal was to tame Dona through continued sex, and she is not one to be dominated, so they stop sleeping around before he has to go study in New York.
Before he goes away, there is a writing contest that almost everyone from the club participates in, Dona wins, and Minho starts crying in front of everyone for not getting a placement.
Wokyung sees him and goes after him when he leaves to cry on the rooftop.
That night Wokyung has a wet dream about Minho, and decides that he wants Minho.
Dona does not allow him while they're sleeping together, so when he comes back from the US he decides to have him by meticulously planning to destroy his life.
Wokyung is successful and Minho starts going in debt because he talked back to his boss and resigned to marry Wokyung's friend acting as a big shot's daughter.
After going through with his plan, he tries to grape Minho, and he even forcefully pierces his nipple.
He manages to escape before being penetrated and calls Dona for help, she shows up and picks him up, he's a total mess.
They go back to Minho's place for the night, because Minho is scared to be alone.
Dona, seeing his submissive scared side, gives in to her nostalgic love and they sleep together.
The day after, he starts being the same jerk he has always been, with that being said, Dona decides to give him a chance and help him get back up.
He stays the ass he is, and Dona gives up again.
Minho is unable to find a job and runs out of money, can't pay his debts, and becomes homeless.
Wokyung pulls a move in the shadows so one of that one of the famous publishing houses gives Minho a chance at writing a Novel.
Minho needs to stay somewhere, so he sells his body to Dona, and Dona lets him freeload over at her place.
He does the housework but it's still a super toxic relationship and he stresses over when Dona is back.
Then he finds out that Dona is still sleeping with Haesol and he beats Haesol up when he drops by to give Dona something.
Haesol avoids Dona for a while, but she finds out about it, and finally decides to choose Haeseol for good which is why the ending is amazing.
He cuts ties with Minho for good.
Minho is unable to do work while being an annoying house wife and a lovely side character intrusts his work to Minho so he could get a chance at publishing as well, and Minho abuses the sweetest person in this story at a crucial point in his life and thankfully, a mutual friend of them realizes that the Novel is not Minho's after reading it.
The company demands their front money back, and Minho having nowhere to go, turns to Wokyung.
Now the Review:
In case anyone here missed out, or didn't understand the point the author was trying to make with this side story was for Minho to be broken.
He had to go through all this, driven to the end line, having someone do exactly what he was doing to Dona, which is beating her ego down to feel good about himself.
Wokyung makes him miserable, just to have him.
After everything he finally let it get through his thick skull that he's been a very shity person, that he needed to apologize to Dona, even if it was an image of her in his before death limbo.
I truly like the ending of the side story, Wokyung has severe mommy issues, and he finally understood at the end that he can't force someone to love him.
Both realizing that they're bad people and that they might never fix their issues decide to stay together, because it's better than staying alone.

i basically binged this whole mf series in the span of two days and afterwards im still hungry for more because WHAT THE HEIL WAS THAT ENDING👹👹👹 it was rlly addicting to read cuz MINHO MY BBG💔🤧 the author sounds like a pos who blames rape victims for getting raped cuz Minho “deserves” it 👊😃 anyway im so disappointed Geumsan Lee, the artist, had their talent wasted on this fucked up revenge plot 💔
LIKE WOOKYUNG FACE CARD IS SO TEA WHY?!! 😔😔😔 bro the ending was so TERRIBLE i actually wish wookyung got SOME kind of real long-term consequences but no the author is like what rape what kidnapping what abuse wdym wookyung saved Minho cuz he didnt have a future anyway!! What shouldve happened is when Minho gets hospitalized he tells the cops and they lock wookyungs sorry ass up in a maximum security prison for the rest of his life, but no he gets off scot free and Minho is so broken he just accepts it like he had all his fighting spirit beat out of him ☹️ i wish Minho escaped and never saw his abuser again and gets help from a support group and heals from this 💖💖
btw i wonder where wookyung got his scar thats near his right shoulder and upper pectoral probably the horrific abuse from his mom his backstory is tragic—still doesn’t justify anything.
Ppl who go thru alot of trauma does not equal unlovable or unredeemable, you can acknowledge that what happened was wrong and choose to not repeat the cycle of abuse and heal.💖

No room for happiness on Minho island. Despite this manhwa being a guilty pleasure I started to feel so depressed for Minho towards the later chapters . He’s been through so much. He needed to be put out of his misery. In the end he got Stockholm syndrome for Wookyung and now they’re trauma bonded. I’ll never be the same after this read.
