Choosing You by Rylie Dark is the 14th book in her Hailey Rock FBI series. This time Hailey’s back in her hometown, chasing down a killer who’s targeting veterinarians. The story mixes the murder mystery with some pretty tense small-town drama, since she’s forced to face old connections and secrets. From what readers are saying, it’s full of twists, suspense, and one of those endings you don’t see coming. A lot of people mention it’s a fast read - you can burn through it in a sitting. It doesn’t have a huge number of reviews, but the ratings that are out there are solid. Rylie Dark cranks out FBI thrillers like crazy, and this series is one of many she’s built. The vibe is very much “cat-and-mouse chase in a small town,” with the added punch of the animal-abuse angle making the stakes feel more disturbing. It sounds like a good pick if you like thrillers that keep you guessing and don’t mind jumping into a series midstream, though I’m not sure how much backstory you’d miss if you haven’t read the earlier ones.
