When the universe hands me a hot, older, recently divorced man on a silver platter, who am I to turn down such a generous offer?

Big deal if he also happens to be my best friend’s boss.

Ford Wesley, Captain of the Wolf Creek Fire Department, is the whole package, with hair that’s a delicious mix of dark and silver strands, and deep brown eyes that hold a touch of mystery.

He’s also always been off the market… Until now.

When he gets caught in a bind and has to temporarily stay on my family’s property, I know it’s my chance to get closer to him, but I never expected it to be so easy.

One night, I match with an anonymous stranger on an app, and it doesn’t take long for things to go from innocent and flirty to raunchy and scorching.

Then when I catch a glimpse of my new neighbor shirtless one day, it becomes clear Mr. Tall, Broody, and Off Limits is the mystery man sending filthy messages to me every night online.

The best part? His profile may be anonymous, but mine isn’t… He knows exactly who he’s talking to.

The chemistry on the app morphs into a reality in the sheets…and at the firehouse, and what starts out as a secret, no-strings arrangement quickly becomes so much more. Before I know it, it’s not just his body I crave, but everything he keeps close to his heart as well.

But I’m not the settle down type, and he’s fresh out of a long marriage. When push comes to shove, will this turn into something more, or are we destined to crash and burn?

There were a lot of things that I really liked about this book, but the imbalance between the sex scenes and the rest of the relationship meant that I didn't quite feel that emotional connection to the character's that I was looking for.

Things I really liked:
- Firefighter x Cowboy
- Age Gap
- Fuckboy x Divorce
- Sneaking around / secret 'relationship'
- The sunset 'date'
- The way Hollis helps Ford after his really bad day
- The heart to hearts between the two characters
- Small Town, Ranch setting
- Befriending the old dude (I cannot remember his name but I think it was Jasper? Maybe?!)
- The family bonds and strong friendships

What bothered me:
- There are SO many sex scenes!! I'm obviously coming at this from an Ace perspective, but I'm also sex positive and have zero issues with sex scenes, unless they just feel thrown in for the sake of having a sex scene! There were a few that I really loved - when they have a sleepover At Hollis's for the first time, especially, but some just felt repetitive and weren't particularly moving the plot along.
- The sexting.... OMFG these dudes were writing more to each other in one sexting session than I write to the majority of my family members over a year 😂😂 I liked how they were working each other up, but man, it went on forever!
- Hollis's 'not taking no' behaviour until Ford gave in. At times it was entertaining to see that he was so certain on what he wanted and that Ford was trying not to give in for whatever reasons, but at other times it did feel a little creepy and bordering on predatory in a bad way.
- The balance between them truly getting to know each other, and the sex scenes. I need to feel like I'm also getting to know who these character's are, not just what they like when it comes to sex, and that was just missing for me.
- There is also a LOT of internal monologuing - so much so that often there would be pages between lines of dialogue and I'd forgotten what the other person said by the time we got a response.

Overall, it was a fun addition to the series, it was entertaining to see Hollis taken down by having feelings, and the general vibe of the series is one that I do enjoy when I'm reading the books! I'm looking forward to Gentry's story because he's obviously lived a very surpressed life and I'm hoping that there's going to be more emotion to it than just going wild with a sexual relationship!

Hollis is a forbidden romance between firefighter Captain Ford and rancher Hollis. I really enjoyed being back in this world. It is low angst, funny, and an overall lighthearted story where I fully loved being back with these characters. I really liked the slow development of the relationship between Ford and Hollis. There is a bit of an age gap, and due to Ford's personal life upheavals, he is a bit resistant to starting a new relationship, while Hollis is more than eager to diffuse his hesitations.

Overall, this story is great, and I loved the dynamic between Ford and Hollis. They have amazing chemistry while offering great support to each other as they explore something fresh and new that surprises them both with the depth of their newfound feelings.

Ford + Hollis 🖤
Fire captain and rancher | Age gap | Fuckboy falling in love

This book had like taster tropes? I dont know what to call it. But there were things thrown in randomly that hardly made sense. Like the author couldn't decide what she wanted to do. Like Ford being called 'good boy' but also 'daddy'??
I dunno. Color me confused.

And yet another book with a missed opportunity for docking. Just sayin.

Anywho, I really want Gentry's book now. Please tell me that he gets with Remi.

⚠️ potential spoilers below in detailed tropes, content and warning lists

Tropes/content:
Fire captain + rancher
Age gap (47 and 28)
MC in the process of getting divorced (divorce is finalized around 80%)
Fuckboy not looking for a relationship
Best friends boss
Small town
Match on dating app
Lots of sexting with pics and videos before they ever meet
A very identifiably tattoo that turns Mr anonymous into Mr not-so-anonymous
Hairy chest
Uncut
Tattoed dick
Hollis usually only likes people who are easy to get on the app. He's not used to the effort that Ford is requiring. He decides he likes the challenge
Good boy (used mostly as a taunt from Hollis to Ford)
Camping blow job and frotting
Face fuck
"Baby"
Calls him "boy"
Footsie under the table
Sneak off into the bathroom together at game night
"Stay"
Hollis shows up the day Ford's divorce is finalized with a self care basket and a puzzle. Back when they were talking on the app, Ford said he likes to do puzzles as a de-stressing hobby but he hadn't done one in awhile.
Fire station sex
Flip fuck
Light daddy kink (mostly just says "daddy" a few times)
Long love confession
Last chapter is 3 months later
No real epilogue

Warnings:
Divorce
Emergency call response to potential heart attack
Discussions of panic attacks and anxiety
Motorcycle accident (MC)

While I loved Finn I just didn’t enjoy this book. I didn’t feel any romance and Hollis’ behavior was so immature. The dirty talk seemed forced. I don’t know if people actually talk in such detail while messaging each other, they sounded like authors trying to write dirty scenes while messaging each other. It didn’t seem believable. I also didn’t like Hollis calling Ford daddy. It didn’t fit the story for me.

There were many scenes that felt off, Hollis says that on Wednesdays the family meets at his dad’s house for dinner but then he goes home and makes himself a pizza for dinner. There were times I was lost on who was speaking and had to go back and look at the start of the chapter to be sure.

Everything felt forced and this was a huge disappointment. I hope Gentry gets a better story.

This was so good! I’ve been looking forward Hollis having a book ever since reading about him in Finn, and man was it everything I wanted. If you like small town romance with age gap, cowboy X firefighter, hidden identity, online dating, best friends boss and sneaking around, I highly recommend this one!!

Hollis is book two in The Moore Men series. This MM romance story is about Hollis and Ford.

We first met Hollis in book one as Finn’s younger brother. He is a cowboy that works on the family ranch. He is twenty-eight, bisexual and not the type to settle down. Ford is the captain of the Wolf Creek Fire Department. He is in his late forties, gay and going through a divorce after two decades of marriage. Hollis has a best friend Remi, who works as a firefighter with Ford being his boss. Remi encourages Ford to get on an app since he is now single, and Ford eventually gives in but does it without telling anyone, and making his profile anonymous.

Ford and Hollis match on the app, but Hollis doesn’t know who he talking to while Ford does. Ford is definitely hesitant but figures Hollis doesn’t know it’s him, so he eventually gives in and things start to become not so innocent. Their app messages were so hot. When Hollis discovers it’s Ford and they finally hook up in real life, they were so incredibly hot together. Their chemistry was amazing and I just loved their dynamic.

Although Hollis and Ford agree to keep things casual as well as a secret, I enjoyed watching it become so much more. I loved seeing them open up to each other, and the way Hollis showed up for Ford was heartwarming. These two might have been opposites, but they were perfect for each other. I have to say I liked how their age gap wasn’t ever an issue. I did think there would be more drama when Remi found out about them, but it was great to see he just wanted his best friend to be happy.

Hollis and Ford’s story was both spicy and sweet. I really enjoyed these two, and it made my heart so happy when they finally admitted their feelings for each other. All the side characters are great. It makes me look forward to see what we will get next with Gentry’s story. Such a great series and I can’t wait for more!

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

"Ford wants me, and if he thinks he can keep his distance for long, he's out of his mind. He will break, and I can't fuckin wait to hear him beg for it. My sights are set and I always get my way"
Edit to include audio review:

Wow… Alexander Cendese and Brandon Francis were perfection in this! This was my very first audiobook with Brandon Francis, and he absolutely did not disappoint as Ford. He captured Ford’s moody, grumpy banter with Hollis so well that I could feel every ounce of his frustration, heartbreak, and guardedness.

And then? Alexander Cendese as Hollis? Flawless. His flirty, playful personality was brought to life in the best way possible. The teasing, the charm, the humor, he nailed every single beat. Honestly, his voice and acting had me completely hooked.

Together, these two were an absolute dream. The push and pull between Hollis and Ford, the tension, the sizzling banter, it felt so real. I wasn’t just listening; I was experiencing their story.

This duo didn’t just narrate Hollis and Ford, they became them. And I loved every second of it.

I knew I was going to love Hollis, and guess what? I DO.
Hollis and Ford were everything! If you’ve read Finn (book one in the series), then you already know Hollis, Finn’s brother and Wolf Creek’s resident flirty, carefree, easygoing playboy. But in this book? That playboy charm meets its match, and it is DELICIOUS.

Still flirty? Absolutely. Still charming? Always. But the moment Hollis connects with a mysterious older man on a dating app, something shifts. There’s just something about this guy that grabs him by the collar and pulls him in, and baby, it’s mutual. Unbeknownst to Hollis, that sexy, grounded stranger is none other than Wolf Creek’s Firehouse Captain, Ford. Yep. Fireman. Divorced. Brooding. Hot. Daddy.

Ford’s not looking for love. He’s barely navigating life while going through a divorce when Hollis’s best friend, Remi, encourages him to try a dating app, and BAM, sparks. Their online chemistry sizzles, but the real fun starts when it turns in, person. And that flame? Unstoppable.

I had SO much fun watching these two fall for each other, but what really hit me were the layers beneath the swooning. Hollis, who always kept things physical and never let feelings get too close, finally has to face why, because he thinks everyone eventually leaves. That line? “Eventually, they leave.” Whew. It gutted me. I’ve been there. A lot of us have.

And Ford... oh, Ford. He stayed in a long, term relationship that slowly broke him. He saw pieces of his father in his husband and made the bravest choice, to leave. To choose himself. And in doing so? He found Hollis.

This story had everything, humor, heart, sexy banter, dirty talk and Daddy moments that had me blushing and cheering. Hollis’s bold personality jumps off the page, and his flirty dialogue? Top tier. That first “Daddy” moment? ICONIC. Their chemistry burns off the page as soon as their dynamics becomes serious. You feel their connection and their love growing with such intensity.

This series is heating up and I’m OBSESSED. Gentry... you’re next, babe, and if his love interest is who I think it is, I am SO ready. 🔥

This was a quick fun read. Suuuuper spicy, low angst. These books are like candy. 🍭😂. I love them.

Hollis is in his late 20’s, a good time guy, extroverted and not looking for anything serious. He works hard on the family ranch and has been single, by design, since high school. He knows Ford (47 and the local fire captain) through his best friend, Remi, who is a firefighter. Ford is recently divorced after a difficult end to a 20 yr marriage. They get connected through a dating app and sparks fly.

- no third act breakup
- 20 yr age gap
- forbidden; best friends boss
- close proximity; Ford is living in a cabin on the ranch
- mm. No “awakening”, both are out and gay or bi.
- no misunderstandings/miscommunication
- genuine love and care in the 2nd half.
- low angst; funny
- HFN, HEA is implied. brief epilogue, 3 months later

So, the tension is from them needing to keep their shenanigans a secret because they are each worried about Remi finding out and also Ford is a private person going through a difficult time. In addition, they are each struggling with defining their feelings and how much of a “relationship” they are ready for or want to pursue.

As with the first book in this series, the first half is a bit of a slow burn and Hollis’ behavior was problematic for me and I didn’t really like him. He was overly aggressive toward Ford several times, almost predatory. This was especially bothersome bc we know that Ford has had issues w an aggressive/mean ex and father. While we got to see Ford and understand him a bit; Hollis felt a bit flat and superficial.

Once this phase of the novel passes and they’re together, we see another side of Hollis and he becomes much more likable. Ford is delicious. Lol. The chemistry is off the charts. There was a LOT of sex and I would have preferred something a little more balanced, but we do see them get to know each other and support each other a bit. Hollis’ support for Ford on the day of his divorce being finalized is everything. 🥹

I really like this author’s writing style; the story moved quickly and I ate it up. Lol. I would have loved another chapter or longer epilogue.

Lastly, I had issues w the editing. I had to reread certain sections several times bc I couldn’t tell who was talking. Also, on at least one occasion they stated “this is the first time” and it clearly wasn’t; we’d literally just read it in the prior chapter.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review

Ever since this series started, I knew Hollis was going to be my favorite Moore Man, and I wasn't wrong! Plus, I really loved the couple's dynamic in this book, I loved everything Ashley James did with Hollis & Ford: how it all began between them and the beautiful moments that show their love for each other. Plus, I loved reading about the supporting characters in this book.

Hollis has a charming personality that I fell in love with since the previous book. I love that he's an incorrigible flirt, that he goes after what he wants, and that he never misses an opportunity to mess with Ford. I also loved reading him talk about his past, his love for the ranch, and how much all the hard work he does every day means to him. Plus, reading him relying on Finn and August for important moments melted my heart in a special way.

Ford was a character I didn't expect to connect so much with. His personal story was unexpectedly painful, and I think that's why I loved reading him always having Remy's support. I also loved the way the author addressed his divorce and everything that went into it. And of course, reading him constantly struggling to stay away from Holli was one of the things I enjoyed most about this character.

Hollis & Ford meet not so anonymously on a dating app and I really liked that the author gave me all that chemistry and a great connection through their messages, also the tension that Ashley gave these characters just with those small exchanges was one of the things I liked the most about this book. BUT when things happen in real life everything is even more interesting because Hollis shows a completely different side that I really enjoyed discovering: I LOVED reading him having the sweetest gestures when Ford needed him, remembering the things that are important to him and sharing his guilty pleasures. Finally, I think the conflict that the author gave to the story of these characters towards the end of the book was VERY good to know how they really feel about each other, and to confirm how important Hollis is in Ford & Remy's lives.

🧑🏽‍🚒Narrators: Alexander Cendese & Brandon Francis
🤠Narration: 5/5
🥵: 3/5

I loved Hollis & Ford when I read them, BUT hearing them by these narrators made me fall in love with them in a slightly more special way!

I enjoyed hearing Hollis cook without clothes, his fun and flirty personality, and the way he accidentally fell in love with Ford MUCH more. I also loved listening to those conversations with the other Moores because I'm to loving that family with each book more and more, and hearing him by Alexander Cendese was the best bonus of this audiobook.

Ford broke my heart a little more with his situation, but I also loved hearing him in the voice of Brandon Francis because I am loving his work so much and it gave me all the sensitivity, vulnerability and that grumpy side that I loved reading so much.

🧑🏽‍🚒Narradores: Alexander Cendese & Brandon Francis
🤠Narración: 5/5
🥵: 3/5

This was a great read! The hidden identity aspect of this from the start really drew me in. I think I love hidden identity trope more than I realised 😄 Add in some closer proximity and that Hollis has figured it out and Ford hasn’t…it comes to some fun and delicious tension.

Ford is a bit gruff but adorable. He has been through a recent divorce and wasn’t always treated the best. He has some insecurities which play on his mind which gives him a layer of vulnerability though he’s the older, more rugged one in this pairing.

Hollis is a hoot. He’s charming, cocky, pretty funny, and brings a somewhat golden-retriever energy but at the same time it seems like he kind of “gets” people and he reads Ford so well. He’s so sweet and supportive at some points, it really melted me.

While there were definitely some good soft, tender moments, I think I could have just used a little more emotional connection from both of them to really bump this up in my rating. However, I still really enjoyed how the relationship grew between them and how they connected in a number of ways.

This book has plenty of open-door detailed scenes so be aware if you pick this one up. If sexting is a thing for you, this is featured quite a lot and you might like that! The length of the texts made me laugh a little sometimes but it wasn’t bothersome.

I read this pretty much all in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down! It’s a really engaging story and I can recommend for a good M/M, age gap, fireman/cowboy romance!

I am convinced that Ashley James cannot write a bad book!! This was so good and I could have easily finished it in one sitting, but life got in the way. It was addictive, a little angsty, funny, and hot hot hot.

Ford was such an endearing character. It was kinda sweet to see him navigate online dating and being newly single after the end of his 23 year marriage. It made my heart ache to know that someone could have hurt him the way they did knowing he's such a sweet and genuinely good man. I loved how grumpy he could be and I'm so glad Hollis challenged him at every corner because if it were up to Ford, he would have never let himself accept Hollis and he was exactly who Ford needed and deserved.

Hollis was the biggest golden retriever and such a menace, but I absolutely loved him. His playful, flirty energy was so fun, but I'm glad that we eventually got to see the depth to him as well. He was everything that Ford didn't know he needed in his life and vice versa. Seeing the way they easily fell for each other was beautiful.

Their relationship was sort of off-limits and this created the perfect set up for some sneaking around moments that were incredibly hot. As usual, the spice was incredible and I just love how creative it was. Their chemistry was explosive and it was fun to see them try new things with each other.

The side characters are everything in this series!! I loved getting the little glimpses of Finn, Ash, and Tucker and I know we'll get more of them in the next book along with Hollis and Ford. I am sooo ready for Gentry's book!! Please tell me it's gonna be Remi lmao.

Thank you to the author for the ARC! This releases on July 17!!

• Cowboy/Fireman
• Age gap/19 years
• Hidden Identities
• Sexting/Messaging
• Divorced MMC/Reformed playboy
• Bi-sexual rep
• Daddy K*nk
• Grumpy/Sunshine
• Roleplaying

I have been so excited for Hollis' book! Especially after meeting him in Finn’s book! This one was the perfect combination of flirty and fun! Ashley gave us three of my favorite things, a playful MMC, a daddy k*nk, and a WONDERFUL age gap! She never disappoints!

I loved the way she developed the relationship between Ford and Hollis. The hidden identity aspect of their connection was such a fun twist. It was sexy, with lots of playful teasing, and delicious tension. But what made it even better was the emotionally vulnerable moment they shared. Like when Hollis showed up after knowing it was a rough day for Ford with so many things to lift his spirits. As light and playful as their dynamic was, there were some incredibly tender moments. Watching Ford and Hollis slowly realize their feelings ran deeper had me absolutely swooning.

Give me all the hot fireman role-playing!! My gosh chapter 28 was HOT! Ashley never fails to give me that one chapter that will live in my head rent free till the end of time! This chapter was exactly that!

I AM SO READY FOR GENTRY'S BOOK!!! I just know Ashley is going to give me an incredible age gap with his book! 😍

Ashley James is quickly becoming my go to for MM romance, and adding in a cowboy and firefighter made this is a must read!

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔: Hollis Moore & Ford Wesley
𝑺𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: Wolf Creek

Ford and Hollis’s story was so much fun. All the messages back and forth, all the secrets, I couldn’t get enough of them. Ford is the captain of the fire department. He is older and divorced and his fellow firefighters convince him to join a dating app. Ford isn’t sure what he is looking for or what he will find, but finding one of the fire fighter’s younger best friend was not what he expected! Hollis is a good time, I’m not sure how else to describe it. He is on the app looking for fling’s, nothing serious.

For a while their interactions remain through messaging. Hollis doesn’t even have a clue who he is talking to. Once it is revealed, they have a ‘no strings fling’ and just embrace having fun together. But when someone ends up in danger, will it make them reevaluate the seriousness of their relationship?

4.5 ⭐️ Updated September 2025: I listened to this via audiobook, and it was just as fun as reading the book the first time! The narrators did a great job bringing Hollis and Ford to life, and they did the characters justice. To anyone thinking about picking up this book, I would, just like with Finn, highly recommend listening to the Moore Men via audio book - I had a great time!
(A big thank you to the author and their team for giving med an alc for this audiobook).

The Moore Men just keeps on giving, I'm loving this series so far! When Ford is convinced to try out a dating app, he never expected to match with the towns infamous playboy, Hollis. But as they get to know each other, Hollis knows he's falling for the cowboy.

The new cowboy-series by Ashley James is such a treat, and I'm loving every minute of reading this series. The characters are a lot of fun, and I think especially Ford and Hollis were a fantastic match that I loved reading about. I'm very excited for the next entry in the series, and if you love age gap, grumpy x sunshine, dating apps, hurt/comfort and of course, cowboys, you'll definetly have a ton of fun with this book!

A big thank you to Ashley James and her team for providing me with an arc of this book!

I'm obsessed with everything Ashley James writes! I feel like each release is say this is my new favorite but Hollis definitely takes that spot.

UPDATE: the audio of Hollis is top notch and I highly recommend! I was laughing and crying and definitely blushing while listening. the narrators did an amazing job with these two!

I loved dating app elements and how hesitant Ford was. That hesitation really drew attention to how playful Hollis was! The banter between the two characters was a lot of fun and I loved when that tension finally broke!

There were so many things I loved in the book it was hard to pick a favorite! It was probably the camping trip because the spice was excellent! Or Hollis bringing his comfort items over to Ford's cabin (totally swoony).

I already have book 3 in the series added to my TBR and I can't wait until it releases.

⭐️ 4.5 stars rounded up! ⭐️

I adored this second installment in this series. Hollis, the "less serious" brother of Finn, who tries not to take life too seriously, is determined to not have any serious relationship. Ever since a heartbreak in high school, he's been against commitment.

But there's Ford, the fire captain and boss of Remi, Hollis' best friend since they were kids. Ford is 19 year old older than Hollis' 28 year old. He's just ending his about 22 year marriage (although it was over a few years before it truly ended) and Remi is encouraging him to get out there and date again.

When Ford gives in and goes on the dating app, Hollis is on it. Ford doesn't show his face on his profile, but Hollis does, so he knows who exactly he starts talking to on there, while Hollis doesn't know for awhile.

They get to know each other over the app, increasingly getting sexual, getting hot and heavy with each other.

When it's finally found out that Ford is the man Hollis has been talking to, Hollis is all too happy to get with the hot Fire Captain he's been kind of lusting over for awhile now. Although he's worried about Remi finding out, as in the past he'd slept with one of Remi's bosses and it had negatively affected him at work.

It's clear Remi doesn't want that to happen here as well, so Hollis knows it's a bad idea to get with Ford, but they just can't stay away from each other.

Hollis is determined to see it as just a friends with benefits kind of thing, while Ford is coming off the divorce, so he isn't quite ready for a relationship yet, so he's okay with it being about sex at first.

But then as time goes on, of course they fall for each other, and they can't hide their more and more obvious feelings forever.

I enjoyed these two together, and their chemistry was so good. I loved the build up of their relationship too, the feelings came so naturally between these two. Seeing them doing sweet things foe each other showing they'd listen to each other and do things for each other that they'd never experiences before.

Ford realizing that his ex-husband never would have done something as simple as a puzzle with him - because Ford loved to do them as a hobby - but he didn't even have to ask for Hollis to think of that when he was down.

It was so sweet and heartwarming.

The only reason I didn't give this a full five stars is that I wish we'd gotten some drama with the ex. We never even meet him in this, just hear about him. Or maybe I'm just used to exes being a source of drama and maybe it's a good thing it didn't get melodramatic in that area, but...idk I kinda wanted it anyway.

I also felt like the big dramatic climax was not actually all that dramatic. Like

Neither of those were a big deal, just small niggles that would have perfected this for me.

Otherwise this was a solid, great read.

I can't wait to read Gentry and Remi's story next. That should be some delicious dad's best friend romance.

Until then! 😘

Ugh. Love them and this series so much. I cried during the love confessions 🥲 RTC — fave quotes before I write anything

“The rush that overcomes you, the one that makes whatever you’re doing that much more fun because it’s wrong… The right kind of wrong.”

“Sun beating down on him, sweat glistening all over his chest. It was like the start of some cowboy porno, and I was practically drooling. “Yeah, the views are nice.””

“I wanted to fuck Ford in a one-and-done type of way. A conquest. A fantasy come to life. But this guy, the man from the app… Well, he intrigues me in a way that doesn’t feel one-and-done, which isn’t like me at all. Yet knowing all of that, I still can’t let it go. I’m like a dog with a bone.”

“”Fuckin’ knew it was you, Captain.” And then his lips are on mine.”

“You’re far too cocky for your own good.” “Am I?” he asks. “Or maybe I’m just cocky enough, and it freaks you out how much you like it.”

“He makes me feel free. Hollis makes me feel seen in a way I’ve felt invisible for so many years.”

“He makes me feel wanted. Like he couldn’t get enough of me. No kiss was deep enough, and he couldn’t get close enough. Even after we both came, it was clear he didn’t want to leave. He wanted more, and that realization was intoxicating.”

“Whose ass is this?” — “All mine?” — “All yours, daddy.”

“Keep flirtin’ with me like that, and I’m gonna have to eat you for breakfast instead.” “You’re fuckin’ insatiable,” he drawls, rolling his eyes like he doesn’t love it as much as I do. “For you? Abso-fuckin’-lutely.”

“Hollis didn’t just listen to things I shared with him, but he heard them. I can’t even remember how long it’s been since I’ve felt heard. And not only that, but here he is, putting this puzzle together with me.”

“I needed Hollis, without even realizing it, and he was there for me. It’s impossible to ignore what that does to me.“

“He knows the second he calls me daddy, I’m doing whatever the hell he wants. It’s like I have no control around him, and I hate it just as much as I love it.”

“I’m not in love.” — “Yeah, okay, buddy. Denial isn’t only a river in Egypt.”

“You’re in love with him, and I’m guessin’ you didn’t even realize it until you thought you might lose him.”

“Y’all just missed it,” he says. “I was just learnin’ that Captain Wesley, here, is in love with me.”

“This started as something casual, and I know it was meant to be fun and nothing more, but it’s more than that for me. And honestly, it has been for a while. I love you, Hollis.”

“And I love the way you make me feel,” he goes on. “I love the way you came into my life at a time I needed you the most. You were a bright sun shinin’ through years of dark clouds. Hollis, you gave me warmth, and you reminded me what it’s like to be seen. But more than that, you gave me hope, and I don’t think you’ll ever truly know what that means to me.” (Yup sobbing)

“I was really content with my life, never felt like I was missin’ out on anythin’ by being alone. But now… I want more. I want you. And I don’t know when the hell it happened, but I’m in love with you, Ford.”

“I may not have a clue what I’m doing, or know what the future holds for me and Ford, but one thing I do know is, I could get used to this. Who knew being in love could be so warm and fuzzy?”

“It’s crazy how a person can spend so many years with someone, only to realize it’s never going to work, then have someone new walk into their life—someone who arguably seems all wrong for them—and suddenly, everything’s right again. It feels easy. Being with Hollis is easy. Loving him feels right. And even though I never saw myself here, there’s no other place I’d rather be.”

ARC Review

When I read Finn, book 1, I fell in love with Hollis! He was funny and flirty and a bit of a golden retriever, so I was looking forward to his book! Now I've read it, one thing I can say for sure is that Hollis isn't just a bit of a golden retriever he is 100% a golden retriever, and I'm here for it!
Hollis is known for his playboy ways and his flirty nature. However, when he matches with a newly single older man on a dating site, something draws him in that he can't explain! He doesn't know what this man looks like or what his name is, but he is still very drawn to him.
Ford is such a kind soul. He had been through a lot with his alcoholic father and then his husband of 23 years displaying similar signs to then divorcing said husband! Hollis was someone Ford didn't see coming but was someone he needed...and deserved! Ford knew who he was matching with on the dating site as his profile wasn't anonymous like Ford's was! It was fun watching Ford navigate the reality of dating sites and his internal struggle of matching with his Leuitenant's best friend, who is 20 years his junior!

Things I wasn't too keen on (but did still enjoy)
- The sexting on the app. These guys were writing full blown essays to each other. I know they were working each other up and it was hot but I just felt it was a little unrealistic with the length of the messages.
- Ford's reaction to Hollis finding out it was him. I didn't really understand his reaction as he knew it was Hollis from the start. I get that it was a bit forbidden but felt it was maybe a little overreaction.
- The epilogue didn't give me full closure and reassurance for them. Yes it was fun to see a very small role play but I dunno if just needed more.

Overall I did really enjoy this book and finished it within 24hours! I'm looking forward to Gentry's book next and have a feeling it might be Remi as well but I guess you never know!

So deliciously good!!!! I can’t wait to read more about the rest of the characters
These two brought the heat and the feelings.

After meeting Hollis in book one, I knew he was going to be messy and exciting. His crush on the fire chief was not a secret and his flirtings got him nowhere...that he knew of. It was so exciting seeing him react and confront Ford when the secret identity came to light. I loved how he didn't get mad or act shocked and hurt, he just did...other more productive things. I loved the connection that started because of that secret and the one that kept on growing, because let's be honest, it was never casual.

Ford, my guy, I loved you from page one. He was a little shy and a lot scared, totally understandable, seeing where he just got out of. I loved seeing that double side of him. The anonymity really made him open up, and I feel like thanks to that, the relationship was better, it had the foundation to start something already, because they both knew much more about the other. Ford opening up sexually was also a beauty to behold, hot and sweet.

I loved every aspect of this book and this series, and that little 'something' that was hinted at for the side characters can be so good! I'm looking at you, Daddy Moore, pls find the one...and he can be a young hot man whose name I won't say to not spoil anything.

Beyond thankful to Ashley and TAA for this e-arc!!

Quotes:

Living your truth and being proud about it shouldn't be something that's seen as admirable. It should be standard, you know?

The man I've been talking to-the mystery man with the nice cock—is Captain Ford Wesley. And the best part? I may be just now figuring out who he is, but he's known who I am. Ford's been knowingly flirting with me.

"What a dirty fuckin' man you are, baby,"

Knowing before long, Ford Wesley, the big, gruff fire captain at Station 14 and the mystery man I've been flirting with for over a month, will be putty in my hands.

"Do exactly what you said you wanted to do to me earlier. Fuck my throat. Take control. Lose control on me."

I want Hollis, even though I shouldn't.

Hollis makes me feel seen in a way I've felt invisible for so many years.

My body is thrumming, and it's so easy to lose myself in him. In this moment. I've barely gotten started, and I already know I'm not going to want to stop. His body fits against mine perfectly.

"And ya just don't know how to quit, do ya? Comin' over here unannounced, beggin' for me to fuck you. Is this what you needed, boy?"

The truth is, Hollis fascinates me.

My lips are on his before I can even take my next breath. I'm starving, but he is too,

I can't put my finger on what it is, exactly, about this that feels different, but it does, and I know he feels it too. It's in the way his dark, hooded gaze bleeds into mine, in the way he's holding on to me just as tight as I am, and it's also in the quiet. In the way neither of us has to say anything to know how we're feeling.

Never been a sleepover type of man, and typically, I like it that way, but it felt so natural asking him to stay last night.

Being with Hollis is easy.
Loving him feels right.
And even though I never saw myself here, there's no
other place I'd rather be.

Thank you so much Ashley James and @theauthor.agency for the opportunity to receive this arc in exchange for my honest opinion .

Hollis is the 2nd instalment in the Moore Men series and I ate it up like my favourite snack . Ashley James writing is perfection in my eyes and I loved every book I’ve read of hers so far !

Ford : mmc - firefighter , grumpy AF , going through a divorce - decided one night to make a dating profile on Hive . He matched with Hollis - a name familiar to him as it’s his lieutenants best friend .

Hollis : mmc - cowboy , outgoing and fun personality with no strings attached approach when it comes to relationships . Came across a pretty bland profile on Hive which matched with him .

The banter , the chats on hive , the spicy pics and videos.. had me cackling like a hyena and drooling how hot they were together ! Ford so grumpy and Hollis so carefree . I loved them both so much . Their no strings attached and keeping things on the downlow was a lot harder than they both anticipated it would be . Hollis calling Ford Daddy ? 🔥🔥 That scene on the camping trip ? Holy habanero pepper , a cold shower was much needed .

If you love a forbidden mm romance , age gap , firefighter x cowboy , forced proximity , grumpy sunshine , daddy kink with delicious spice and great banter ? Please read this !

4.5⭐

Cowboy Hollis has long had a crush on his best friend's boss, firefighter Captain Ford. However, Ford has always been off-limits—until now. As Ford going through a divorce, signs up for the same dating app that Hollis uses. And Unbeknownst to Hollis, the attractive guy he starts talking to and flirting with is actually Ford.

But things heat up when they begin sharing intimate pictures and videos, and Ford mentions the firehouse. So, once Hollis realizes that his mystery man is Ford, he becomes determined to get him in his bed, or even against a tree—he just wants a taste. But Ford is just coming out of a marriage, and Hollis doesn’t do long-term relationships. Additionally, he knows he shouldn't be involved with his best friend's boss.

And as their conversations and hookups continue, they both begin to develop deeper feelings for each other. Just when things are getting serious, tragedy strikes.

And with minimal angst, plenty of spice, humorous moments, and a light-hearted vibe, I found this to be a delightful read and I am eager to explore more stories from the world of the Moore Men and would happily recommend this book to others.

My thanks to The Author Agency for my copy of Hollis. All thoughts expressed are my own. 😊

A MM Small town romance with Firefighter x Cowboy, a ~19 yrs age-gap, matched on app & hidden identity Bestie's boss 😏, crushes, exploding chemistry crashes "we shouldn't", banter, love & family 🥰.
I'm glad I found this on #Bookstagram 😍. Devoured my #ARC in 9hrs, loved Hollis & Ford!

Ford (47) is the Firefighter captain, going through a divorce. F's grouchy, serious, cautious & private. He's sweet, & filthy when loosened up!
Hollis (28) is a cowboy at his family's ranch. H's charismatic, bold, playful & flirty (slutty lol). He can be so thoughtful & observant too!

These 2 hardworkers are classic opposites attract. The dirty texting was hot & sweet, build-up tension. Omg, when H found it was F... 😳🥵! F's panic/worry was real & well-put but the push/pull was half-hearted lol. F tried but H's persistent! A bit too much sometimes, so I was glad when F got some bold too. The sarcasm haha. F+H are kinky 🤭, (Fire)Daddy yes!

Sneaking around was fun but holy obliviousness 😩. From "Just Fun" to... 😉 I loved when they got vulnerable 🥺 & the talks! H's realisation's hilarious 🤣. I love vers couple, even if that scene was at end. That climax was unexpectedly emotional 🥺 (& fun...!). Everyone's reactions are *chef's kiss*. I did want F+H to've more chapters as out before end tho!

I found some typos which hopefully will be corrected in live version. This is my 1st Ashley book & I hadn't realise it was in a series 😅, Imma check the others out. I need the Dad's book, Remi 😏 (R's tongue's sharp, H's not that selfish!)....

Story Ratings:

At first, I struggled a bit to get into the series. Even though I liked Finn, it took me a while to really connect the dots in this one. But once I was fully back in Wolf Creek and understood how everything fit together, I started enjoying it a lot more. Ford stepping into the dating world after a 23-year marriage was such a good setup. I liked that he took the risk—even anonymously—and that swipe right on Hollis changed everything.

Hollis has always been that flirty, chaotic presence in town, but here we get to see so much more of him. He's still wild and fun, but also more thoughtful than I expected. He really cares—about his friends, his actions, and especially about Ford. I loved watching him slowly fall, and how real his feelings got.

Ford really surprised me. He’s quiet, older, and honestly so unsure of himself after everything he’s been through. But that made it even better to watch him open up again. The way Hollis pushed him just enough without overstepping was beautiful. You could feel the connection building between them, even before they met in real life.

The online-to-real-life tension was great. There’s heat, but also sweetness. And the fact that there’s no big breakup or unnecessary drama? That was a win for me. Just two men figuring it out, with some sneaking around and awkward situations sprinkled in to make it feel real.

This book has all the tropes I love—age gap, best friend’s boss, cowboy x firefighter, forced proximity, hidden identity. It’s low angst but still emotional. The Moore Men series is seriously addicting, and now I’m more than ready for Gentry’s book!

This was a fun read. Hollis really did brighten up everything, even an older, grumpy, currently going through a divorce, fire department captain.

I enjoyed how these two connected through a dating app where Ford knew who he was talking to and Hollis had no idea. They had insane chemistry from their sexting to in person intimacy.

Hollis being a no strings kind of guy, really put in the effort with Ford. He listened and made him feel wanted/needed. I loved the scene where he came over to comfort Ford after his divorce was finalised.

It was nice to see all the people in their lives so supportive of their relationship despite the 20 year age gap. I’m sad that the next book will the last in the series but I’m super excited for Gentry’s story.

- Age gap
- Small town
- Best friend’s boss
- Dating app
- Cowboy X fire department captain
- Grumpy X sunshine

Hollis- Ashley James
Narrated by Brandon Francis and Alexander Cendese

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

Another Moore man has fallen! I think this was a fun time. I think I would have liked to see the relationship between Hollis and Ford develop just a little more. I felt just a slight disconnect from the emotional aspect from the sexy part of their story, but their sexting…so hot, and when they’re actually together, even hotter. I loved Hollis’s take charge attitude even as the younger guy in the relationship, he was the more confident one and he brought out Fords confidence and eased his anxiety. I’m really looking forward to seeing to seeing the patriarch of the family, Gentry, take his fall next.

Brandon and Alexander did amazing in this narration. I thought they both played their respective characters perfectly.

Reading this book somehow made me feel so warm and cozy and I'm a little in love I gotta say 🥰

After loving Finn, the first book of this series I needed to know more about Hollis, since he really intrigued me.

Ford is in his late forties and Hollis is nearly twenty years younger. They don't really seem to fit as a romantic couple, since they are different in almost every aspect. But that doesn't stop their attraction to grow and things get steamy ❤️‍🔥

I swear online dating/texting is so much fun in these type of books 🤭 Always the tension with spicy texts and them being in a small town, not knowing if they know the other one in real life made everything more intense and fun.

So looking forward for the next book 💕
