What does the Code have in store for me next? Looks like I’m never going to get to relax. This world I’ve ended up in is on the brink of a great war. It’ll be a tragedy for its inhabitants.
But I wonder... What will happen if this world finds itself beneath the deadly gaze of the Dark Gods?
my two favorite characters are Snoop and the honey badger. I get a kick out of there antics every time I pick up one of these books. I think this is probably one of the longest running series that I've been doing ARCs for. we've got more fighting, looting, which is always important, monsters, not as much rift action in this one. he's managed to grow his lands and his family some. we also learned in this book that the United States has yet to be born, it's actually just starting to fight for its independence in this series it was mentioned in this book. as American I find that a bit interesting and a nice little twist on the story. it's a wonderful world and a wonderful story. I recommend this series to anybody that just wants that sense of adventure. pick up book one and just spend a couple of days enjoying yourself.
8/10 I did send an email to the publisher with the few mistakes that I managed to find. and yes this was a review of the advanced reader copy that I received.
I received a review copy of this book. We learn some very important pieces of the puzzle that is this world in this book. We get to see where dumbass gets his power, and we find out just how invested (or not) the empress is in his success. There's of course plenty of battles, lots and lots of hijinx, and as usual, our main character coming out of it all with style and flare. Very entertaining. If you've enjoyed previous books in the series, this one won't disappoint. If you haven't started reading yet, I have no idea what you're waiting for, have at it, and prepare to be entertained.
The plots regarding Arkhip, the empress and Rasputin advance and the sergeant major finally gets a promotion. Two potentially interesting side plots in different regions start. The reader learns about the harsh life of true music enthusiasts, troubled diets and how to act like a real man ;-). We learn about the trouble of the Big Khan how to keep reliable help long term and his trauma to have to sleep with the same women twice - what a truly horrible fate #rofl#.
And finally, Xander gets properly introduced at the capital, where he goes for a walk and finds a lot of new "friends " to keep him entertained while Shnoop can shine once again. .
Alex you are now officially not retired. The code sent you here to solve the Empire’s problems. Traitors must be dealt with…and others that need to be brought back to their full potential. More intrigue. More action. More riches. Pookie! Odin! Good read. Cannot wait for the next. Read this in one day. I could not put it down.
The series is still great, honestly this book was good but probably one of my least favorite in the series. It was a bit to all over the place. That's the best way I can think to describe how I felt. But it's still a good read and hopefully the next book focuses a little more again. At least we won't have to wait as long for the next few.
I love the characters in this series. But I can read this book in three hours. Cost wise this is expensive. I may have to just wait for the audio version. Then I can do cleaning while enjoying this wonderful series.
Good story, a little confusing wording that could have been smoothed over with more descriptive passages. The price was too high for what was essentially a short story instead of a book.
He gained more land, possibly more guards. I just feel like he hasn't really progressed because his ring keeps going back in color he needs to become an absolute already. I want more rifts.
This book was the most action packed of the series. Loved it! The scheming of nations, of aristocrats, and of the universal powers drove the high stakes to a completely new level. So interesting
