The title chosen for this collection is a metaphor that readers may notice in several of the works. For me a mirror is anything that provides a reflection of light allowing me to see myself and my experience in some fashion. It can be a mirror proper, like the one I stand before each morning. Other objects might function as a mirror in some situations, even if faintly. Like the polished hood of my Toyota Highlander does after a trip to the carwash. It may also be something in nature that bears the qualities of reflected light in a way similar to a mirror. For instance, when looking across a pond in the bright sunshine, I can see the surrounding environment reflected in the surface of the water. Going beyond the looking glass proper or other things that have the qualities of a mirror, I can attest that a blue sky with passing clouds can elicit an imaginative reflection though perhaps not corresponding to any physical reality. In a sense, a mirror is not only a reflection of light revealing something of the physical that is before it, but a confessional that opens the possibility to be honest about the thoughts and feelings hidden within.
