I love the Montgomery clan, and this is a great addition and spinoff series starting out in Colorado Springs.

This book is sweet, enchanting and a quick read. I liked it, but it also left me wanting more. But I’ll come to that later.

Adrienne Montgomery & Mace Knight have been friends for years and although there was always an underlying chemistry there they never acted on it. Until now. They cross the line and now they must figure out the new ground that they are walking on.

Adrienne and Shep have opened Montgomery Ink Too (MIT) on the grand opening they are threatened that they will be pushed out and with vandalism, false accusations which adds a lot of stress. Mace has gone from a weekend Dad to a full-time Dad and it is a lot of juggling that these two must do.

I liked this book and I like the author’s work especially when it is a single parent romance. It’s my catnip for me and this was no different. I just wasn’t a fan of friends to lovers.

There was once again too much inner monologue where that time could have been spent on the plot, speaking to Daisy’s mother about why she would do something like abandon her child for example. The other one was the man who was out to ruin their shop it was all brushed under the carpet so quickly I don’t know why it was used a storyline to begin with. I would have liked to have seen more depth to the relationship and not the friendship that they were developing.

Ohhh, I love a good friends to lovers story. One that truly digs in and shows you just how well they work as friends before diving into the sexy times. Carrie Ann Ryan makes you care about Mace and Adrienne, makes you believe in them as two people who truly belong together, and that their love is inevitable and definitely worth risking their friendship. I really enjoyed the suspense thread, and OMG the sexytimes are soooooo hot! Seriously. Put a pitcher of ice water next to your Kindle for this one!

The plot and the characters were fine it was the way that this was written that made me really dislike it. And tbh that could be a personal preference.

This is in third person pov which I already am not a fan of. But the biggest issue is it is narrated fancy and very proper when the characters are not. The narration doesn’t match the book or characters and it ruined the whole thing for me.

It would be like if the show inked was narrated by the lady who does it on desperate housewives lol

Meh. I've enjoyed others quite a bit more. The villain lacked any depth or motivation, and could have been taken out to the improvement of the overall story line. For grown-up, professional people in their 30s (and one with a kid!), they didn't seem to be very good at handling emotions. My friend loaned it to me via Kindle, and I'm grateful she took the financial hit instead of me.

I received a free copy of this book from the author.

Fallen Ink is the first book in the spin off of the Montgomery Ink series into the new Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs.  If you're new to the Montgomery's this is a good start.  You'll meet best friends Mace and Adi.  Adi and her brother own this new tattoo parlor in Colorado Springs and Mace is one of the artists.

These two have been best friends their entire adult lives.  Through thick and thin they've been there for each other, but never seen the other as more than a friend.  Until now.

It's always a toss up whether or not you'll ruin a friendship by taking it to the next level.  In this case there's also a child involved.  Mace has just taken over full time custody of his daughter.  With all the changes in his life he's struggling with wrapping his head around it. Adi is there to help but there's only so much she can do.  Sometimes you just have to let the person figure their mess out themselves.

I enjoyed reading this book. There's a bit of drama with the shop as well as in the romantic relationship. I hope you enjoy Mace and Adi's story as well.

4.5 Stars. If you like a good friends before lovers book, this one is for you. Adrienne is so fortunate to have the best support group that anyone could ask for when she decides to open up her own tattoo shop. She has her brother Shep, who is part-owner in the business, her Montgomery family and her best friend Mace. Although they have been friends for a while, Mace and Adrienne have always knew there was something between them. In experiencing the trials and tribulations of opening a new shop, Adrienne experiences life as she never had before. The fact that the community was not happy when they heard a tattoo shop was coming to the area did not help things at all. Unfortunately, there were multiple days when it was vandalized. Adrienne, with the help of her support group, picked right back were she left off and continued with the business. During this time her relationship with Mace blossomed. Mace's daughter, Daisy, had a hand in that as well, even though she didn't realize it. When Mace's ex puts him in a difficult situation with his daughter that he never expected, he realizes that Adrienne is his rock and he can't live without her.

I really love the Montgomery family that Carrie Ann Ryan has created. They are funny, talented and most of all, they are unapologetically loyal to family and friends. It's just the way that family should be, whether you're linked by blood or not.

I absolutely enjoyed Adrienne and Mace's story. Together they are every friends' final goal and yet, the chemistry that exists between the two of them makes them so much more and their link that much stronger. The fact that they have a history spanning years made them that much more engaging and enjoyable to watch as they struggled to make peace what we saw from the very beginning.

There was everything that you love about Carrie Ann Ryan's novels - sexiness, love, romance, suspense and humour. Things that keep you wanting to read more and wanting to know more about them, wanting to find out just what will happen to them in the future. This is a series that although started with the original family members, i'm enjoying the cousins just as much since this author has that ability to make them fascinating.

3.25-3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book. This is Adrienne and Mace's friends to lovers story. Adrienne Montgomery has just opened her own tattoo shop with her best friend Mace. They are very close, leaning on each other for everything. The two have been best friends for years, and have secretly been attracted to each other but never acted on it. But now as they spend more time together their attraction has grown and they decide to explore it. Still, there is a lot going on in their lives. Besides the busyness of opening their new shop, there are threats and vandalism to it, as someone wants their shop closed and out of the downtown area as it "brings down the tone of the neighborhood". Also, Mace's ex and mother of his child, who has not let him see his daughter Daisy very much over her four years, abruptly drops her off on his doorstep so that she can move overseas for work. Now Mace is also dealing with being a full time single dad. So they are dealing with all of that along with testing out a relationship and figuring out what their future holds. But somehow it all comes together for them and they get their HEA.

There is a lot going on in this book. The story seemed a bit disorganized. There was a lot of internal angst and worrying about their relationship, but not as much actual time together. There was many side characters from other series by this author, but I felt it was overkill. It confused me to have every single character mentioned, what they were up to, etc., and it just cluttered the story. Sometimes less is more. Also one of the main things that kept me from completely connecting to this book was that there were lots of little time jumps.

I liked Adrienne and Mace in general. Mace did annoy me at times with his immaturity and wishy washy behavior. He made some dumb mistakes with Adrienne. Neither of them came off as people in their late 30s, especially Mace. I didn't feel a ton of chemistry between them, either, and I didn't feel a lot of the emotions and feelings I was being lead to feel. Also, we didn't get to see very much time with Adrienne and Daisy together, but we are told they did spend time together. I would have liked to have seen that. But the story was pretty good and definitely entertaining. I liked the friends to lovers story line and I liked where they ended up together.

Overall, this book was a "liked it", not a "loved it". But I definitely enjoyed the story, despite a few nitpicky things. I like Ms. Ryan's writing. Her characters, stories and sense of family are fun and entertaining. I look forward to more from this author in the future!

This was my first Montgomery Ink story though I have a couple waiting in my TBR Mountain of Doom. The story worked fine as a stand alone and left me wanting to go back and read the books I own. :)

The romance was hot, and full of steamy, detailed sex scenes. But Ryab didn't forget the emotional components. Addi and Mace have been best friends for years (friends to lovers, yeah!), co-workers, and now employer and employee. Whew! Ryan did a great job showing the challenges involved in moving from friends to lovers and the risk you take of possibly the ruining the friendship if the romance doesn't work out. Addi and Mace alternately thought things through too much and not enough, reflecting the emotional challenges they were facing. I wish Ryan had spent a little more time on the employer-employee aspect and power imbalance. That was mostly glossed over.

In addition to the romance, we saw Mace's complicated relationship with his ex and their young daughter Daisy, and the shop's challenging relationship with certain members of the community. Mace was a good father and one who tried so hard to do the right thing while knowing he was bound to make mistakes along the way. His and Daisy's relationship was both sweet and realistic, as were the parenting challenges he dealt with.

I was less impressed with the tattoo shop's community issues. Not that the shop had issues, that was believable, but the people responsible as well as the denouement of that story line were overwrought and over the top.

"Fallen Ink" was hot, sexy, sweet, funny, and entertaining. I'll definitely be reading more Montgomery stories.

I absolutely loved Addi and Mace, I think they may have moved into top spot of the Montgomery couples for me! The fact Mace is a single dad with a sweet little Daisy in the mix, and Shep and Shea have moved home, extra bonuses

We have a best friends to lovers story here, and this couple doesn't keep the craziness that makes them friends out of their sex life. In fact, they have a lot of fun in the bedroom, and that makes them even more endearing. Their trouble is that they want to stay friends, as the dormant sexual tension between them, that seems to have cropped up out of nowhere, flares up. First they deny it, then they try to keep it secret (which leads to one the best quotes ever in a book about how to keep things secret if they are leaving semen everywhere), and when people start to notice, they confess and try to be a normal, dating couple

Yeah, that doesn't work for them, their normal is their own, but when life throws an extra curve ball at Mace, he messes up. Addi doesn't let him get away with it though, and he does an expert job grovelling, which she acknowledges

A wonderful love story, with great sexual tension, laughs, a mystery to solve, a few tears, some truly sweet moments, and a complete and utterly beautiful happily-ever-after!

4.5 Stars!

This prolific author is a one click author every time for me. I have read everything she has ever written. Seldom does she disappoint! That said, she has had some major life changes in the past year. God love an author, she kept on writing through it all. I honestly felt the last couple of books she release were just missing a little something. Well, hello! Fallen Ink brings back the Carrie Ann that I have grown to love. What a wonderful friends to lovers story!

This is the first in a spin off series from her Montgomery Ink series. This will follow cousins of the Montgomery's. We move to Colorado Springs and see Shep and Adrienne expand the Montgomery Ink tattoo business. Mace and Adrienne worked together at another shop in town and are best friends.

Tensions rise around the new shop. Mace and Adrienne turn to each other for comfort. A bit of angsty back and forth but they finally settle on the fact that they are perfect for each other. Throw in a little bit of mystery, some wonderful humor, and super hot chemistry and this is just a perfect read.

So happy to continue the journey with this author. Looking forward to more from her in the future.

Fallen ink gets a nomination for my top reads of 2018 because I loved it and I found it refreshing. It was the sixth book in a row where one of the two main characters had a child from a previous marriage/relationship and instead of being bothered by it, I enjoyed it. The kid doesn't appear much though which was a sad thing. I hadn't even realized that the book I was reading had the same plot (at least some part of it) as five other books I had read in the span of 3 days. I liked Adrienne more than I like the average heroine. She had some bad moments, but mostly she was feisty and a backbone. She had some strong moments and in others, she was caring. Mace was a good father. He had some weak moments, but mostly he was trying to do the best for his daughter and Adrienne.

Adrienne and Mace's romance is a little rushed and instant, but that was okay with me. It was a good story and I loved this branch of the Montogomery family. I cannot wait for the other books and novellas to be released. I also liked the plot line with the person who was trying to sabotage MIT and I got invested in Thea and Dimitri's story.

Emotionally charged, sweetly sexy, highly entertaining friends to so much more romance that will leave you breathless and craving more.....

Adrienne Montgomery is living her dream opening a new shop with her brother Shep and as an added bonus gets to also have her best friend with her. Mace Knight is sexy, charming and now a full time dad to his beautiful daughter that is his whole world. Starting over in a new shop is risky and there are some that are not happy with their new neighbors but in true Montgomery style they will band together and fight for family. Loved it!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This book didn't hold my attention the way I hoped it would. The romance between Addi and Mace took a few left turns and the misunderstandings between people who had been friends for so long didn't make sense.

The issue of starting a new business and the vandalism of the business added a twist to the story that didn't seem to fit with the premise.

I definitely want to see where the next book in the series takes us.

You Rocked My World!!!

Adrienne "Addie" Montgomery was finally living her dream. She opened a new tattoo shop with her brother Shep ( INK INSPIRED ) and two of her cousins Austin ( DELICATE INK ) and Maya ( INK ENDURING ) in Colorado Springs.

The shop MIT (Montgomery Ink Too) was an offshoot of the main shop down in Denver. She was excited to embark on this new venture but when some of her neighbors didn't find her art fit for the community. She turned to her best-friend, Mace Knight for help.

Mace Knight, a father to a four-year-old daughter Daisy and a tattoo artist who knew that he was taking a huge risk by starting from zero with the Montgomerys in their new shop.

But no matter the risks, he knew he made the right choice when he decided to go work for his best-friend, the woman who'd been invading his greatest fantasies....Adrienne Montgomery.

His life was turned upside down when his ex took a decision that changed all their lives forever. Mace had his family and friends to help the transition easier for him and Daisy. He and Addi took a new step in their relationship even though they both thought they'd ruined everything between them.

What they didn't know was that was just the beginning in the right direction for them both. As they were exploring their love, Mace's world was rocked once again which scared him. He let his fears take over and did something he regretted immediately.

Love how supportive the Montgomerys are when to come to their people. They always have each other's backs no matter what. To see others in the community coming to Addie's help when she was targeted by a narrow minded person.

When all was said and done, Mace rectified his mistake. Addie found herself in danger, she fought back and won.

FALLEN INK is the first book in Carrie Ann Ryan's MONTGOMERY INK: COLORADO SPRINGS series. It was sexy, humurous, fascinating and intriguing. Carrie Ann Ryan did a magnificent job! 5++++

P. S. Looking forward to Thea's story! ;)

I wanted to like it more but the ending let it down. When Mace pushes Adrienne away and stays away because he’s a coward, he only decides to make it right because Adrienne was there for his daughter when he couldn’t be. Even by the end I didn’t really feel Mace loved Adrienne the way she loved him. It seemed more like she was his best option, his best friend so why not? Besides, he got rid of his beard because she loved it so much. Hell, he didn’t decide he loves her until the very end. Also, why was there no closure with Daisy’s Mum? I was expecting something more of a conclusion to that, some explanation as to why...but nope.

I enjoyed the story right up until Mace decided to be a dick. Not sure about the next book either. Might just stick to this author’s paranormal books I think. There’s some fun ones in there :)

Carrie Ann Ryan has really ratched up the hotness meter with Mace. This man swoon city.

Mace is Addi’s best friend. He is kind, caring, sweet, wonderful and just has you swoon. YOu can see he has feelings for Addi but is trying not to act on them. I love how much he believes in Addi and is there for her no matter what. What makes Mace even more of a swoony gorgeous man his how he is with his daughter and how he protects her and thinks of her best interests no matter what even if it means him sacrificing for her. His daughter and her well being is his priority. That makes him sexy. It shows his tender loving side.

Addi is strong, stubborn, smart and a great gal. She, like Mace, wears her feelings on her sleeve for her best friend. You can see with each touch and how they react to things and lean on one another that they are beyond friends but afraid to act on it. For Addi, she has just started the shop and someone is trying to keep them from succeeding. She also fears that Mace won;t feel the same and she will lose him in her life. For Mace, he fears losing Addi and that he isn’t what she needs. That he will only hurt her and that he isn’t worth it. Boy is that man wrong. He is worth so much more than he realizes.

Their love story isn’t smooth sailing. They are dealing with someone wanting to shutdown Addi’s shop. Mace’s ex walking away from their daughter and his balancing work and being a full time dad. His daughter’s feelings and well being and their feelings. When they first come together it is a release for them. But you can feel that chemistry and wow does the kindle heat up. You can tell they want more but are afraid. So they don’t label it but continue to be what they are. Only those pesky feelings don’t always allow this and you can tell Mace doesn’t really want to be a secret lover even though he is scared of losing her. WAtching them navigate their new status while dealing with life is very endearing. Seeing them try to work through their confusion and fears heartwarming. Mace and Addi are meant to be with one another. What I love about them is that it wasn’t insta love. They were friends first and went slowly. Even when they acted on their feelings it was a slow burn to becoming more. They were in waters that scared them so they went slow. I loved how Mace had Addi in his daughter’s life as if it was natural. However he does do something stupid and it was because of fear and wanting to protect his daughter. And when he does he realizes his mistake and does something so swoonworthy to make it better.

What makes the story more solid is that this wasn’t just about their feelings and navigating through them. It was about family and had a plot beyond the romance. We see them trying to make a business successful while trying to find out who wanted to shut them down and why. It was about finding their footing and how they were friends and wanted to be friends no matter what happened. It was about Mace becoming a full time dad and navigating his way through this and trying to keep his daughter safe, happy and in a routine that doesn’t harm her. And about their attraction which is palpable throughout the book. Mace and Addi have you feel happy, sad, laugh and cry. You cry because they are just so sweet and perfect for each other and how he seamlessly has Addi fit into him and his daughter’s world was just so beautiful. You cry because of how Mace is with his daughter. They are happy tears. The man is just amazing and so sweet and sexy. He thinks of others and their feelings but he also puts his daughter first. You can’t help but love the man. It is a story on love, friendship, family and finding your way.

The story is very entrancing and entertaining. You can’t wait to see how Mace and Addi juggle their lives and work through their feelings and fears. How they overcome it all and be together. It truly is a enthralling tale and one that has you smile and swoon.

The Montgomery cousins are open for business at Montgomery Ink Too, which is nothing but awesome for we readers, since that means that the well of stories based around this amazingly close-knit family hasn't even come close to running dry.

The first book in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs spin-off series, Fallen Ink, centers around Adrienne Montgomery, one of the two new owners of the satellite tattoo shop (she owns it with her older brother Shep). Adrienne and Shep only have a small staff right now which includes tattoo artists Ryan and Mace. Mace happens to be Adrienne's best friend, and after some opening day stress and a rainy night, things between these two escalate to seriously hot heights.

It seemed as if Mace and Adrienne were poised to take that next step, even if both of them were in total denial about it. No one was surprised when it finally happened. It reminded me so much of Maya Montgomery and Jake Gallagher's relationship (Ink Enduring). It is a good thing they have that strong basis as friends, because stress is coming at them from all sides, and it makes starting a new relationship with your best friend all that more challenging.

First, the new shop is targeted relentlessly by someone who doesn't appreciate people with tattoos in their otherwise idyllic white bread neighborhood. The vandals become increasingly violent and hateful, and it's difficult to find out who's behind it all.

On top of that, Mace suddenly has to care for his daughter on a more permanent basis, so he has to balance work hours, quality time with his daughter and personal time with Adrienne - who also happens to technically be his boss. It's crazy and dangerous and the whole time I was reading I kept thinking that, if anyone can make it, a Montgomery can.

The one hold-over from the original Montgomery Ink series is the presence and importance of family - both by blood and by heart. It's my favorite part of this series. I love how close the Montgomery siblings are and how they're always there to watch each other's backs and to meddle when necessary.

Fallen Ink is a well-thought out spin-off of a beloved series and is rife with tons of plot bunnies just waiting to take off and make the Colorado Springs series just as amazing as the original.

Love me some Montgomerys

After a long wait, we're finally getting to see more of Shep's family. We met his sister Adrienne in Denver, but she's come home to Colorado Springs and Shep moved his family back home as well. That was lucky for us, because having run out of Denver Montgomerys, I, for one, wasn't ready to say goodbye to them.

Adrienne and Shep have, along with their Denver cousins, Austin and Maya, opened Montgomery Ink Too, or MIT, a Montgomery tattoo shop in Colorado Springs and in their new shop works Adrienne's best friend Mace. The chemistry between the two besties is apparent to everyone, except them apparently. From the beginning, I loved them as a couple, even though they weren't ... technically.

Add in Mace's adorable little girl, who gets dropped on him unexpectedly, and this single dad needs all the help he can get. I loved how his family and the Montgomerys rallied around him and helped him adjust.

When the best friends become friends with benefits, they, for some reason, try hard to keep the sex casual, as to not hurt each other, but of course that doesn't work for them and leads to some frustration with me, lol. I love them together and wanted them together for real, like stat.

Work life couldn't go smoothly either, as a mysterious man lets the Montgomerys know that their tattoo shop is not wanted in their upscale neighborhood. He proceeds to cause mayhem, but instead of running them out, they get stronger and their neighbors band together with them.

I love Adrienne and Mace, separately and together, and loved seeing them finally realize that best friends make the best lovers and the best HEAs. Can't wait for the stories about the other Colorado Springs Montgomerys and hopefully we'll also get the stories about Mace's sisters, who we meet and I love, as well.

This is a new series -but spinning off from the very popular Montgomery Ink books ... so a perfect pedigree!

As we reconnect with a number of familiar faces and catch up on the latest news, it is also time to start a new adventure - and for Adrienne this means her own shop, working with her brother Shep and also her BFF Mace. Only thing is that an unguarded comment to him leads to a passionate encounter that neither of them can forget - and they are not even sure they want to!

Drama comes in three forms ... the huge issue of going from BFF to lover, and whether that can possibly work, and what if it doesn't? Mace is handed his daughter by her mother, as she leaves for another country, causing him to suddenly be a full time Dad. And someone in the vicinity of the new shop is out to cause them all the trouble he can until they leave. It all unfolds in ways which have to be read to be enjoyed, but I loved how everything tied together. I felt that Mace forgot some of the importance of best friends, but it wasn't entirely surprising given the maelstrom in his situation with his daughter. He did however pull it out of the bag just in time to save himself from some major Montgomery wrath! Wise man for sure.

Adrienne is lovely from the very first page - totally badass softy, loyal, sexy and devoted to her family. She deserved all the pleasure that she got ... lucky lady!

Good read, perfect escapism, thank you Ms Ryan.

This is an amazing spin-off that gives us more of Carrie Ann Ryan's Montgomery family.

In FALLEN INK Adrienne Montgomery, with her brother Shep, is opening a tattoo shop MIT (Montgomery Ink Too), which can be stressful enough but a number of other things come into play adding more. Someone doesn't want “their kind” in the neighborhood, forcing them to deal with threats and vandalism. Mace Knight, her best friend and fellow tattoo artist, suddenly becomes a full time father to his adorable 4 year old daughter, Daisy, when his ex-decides she wants to go overseas to work.

On top of all that – these two best friends, Adrienne and Mace, find that the other has much deeper feelings than they had ever expressed. It is simple, neither of them wanted to lose their best friend and sex once the thrill wears off could lead to just that. But, what if the thrill just kept getting better!

FALLEN INK is steamy, sweet, complicated story of friends to lovers who in the end are still friends and lovers. It is well written, though there might be just a bit too much angst over losing the friendship if things go wrong. I thought Adrienne and Mace are perfect for each other and the Montgomery family are as always amazing people who band together.

I think it is family, being together, helping each other and being there for each other, that is always the main stay in all the Montgomery books. No matter what happens you can bet a Montgomery will be there and I love seeing families like them in books. I can't wait to see where the next in the series takes us.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

My favorite family of Inked and bearded men are back, this time though it’s a different branch of the Montgomery family tree, Carrie Ann Ryan gives us Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs!!!!

Ryan us blessed the world with the Montgomery cousins and I am one happy camper!!!
On this branch of the family tree we have Adrienne, Shephard, Thea, and Roxie. Shep has already had his story told in Ink Inspired which was the start of the whole obsession that is Montgomery Ink. Now it’s Adrienne’s turn and the start of Colorado Springs.
Maya and Austin, from the Denver Montgomery’s, are spreading their tattooed wings and opening a second tattoo studio called Montgomery Ink Too or MIT. Adrienne and Shep are part owners of it with their family as well as the managers.
Adrienne is a tattoo artist and along with her bestie Mace, her brother, and friends they have MIT’s grand opening but it’s interrupted by some stranger saying that they aren’t welcome and that they wouldn’t be there long.
Mace Knight is Adrienne’s best friend, a tattoo artist, and a weekend dad to his daughter. He is also a hot bearded silver fox!!!!!
Out of the blue his ex leaves the country and leaving him a full time father to the daughter he loves, so having to learn to become a full time father as well as starting a new job is hard on him.
Not only does Mace have a hard time with his new life, Adrienne is having a hard time also dealing with the new business and the threats to it. Adrienne and Mace lean more on each other than they already do and start something new along the way.
I adore when best friends fall in love!! They already know everything about each other but also learn so much more.
Adrienne and Mace are so good together I can’t believe that they haven’t moved beyond friends before now!!!
The steam coming off these two can be seen for miles, but there is also tenderness. The tenderness between Mace and his daughter, between Adrienne and his daughter, and the way that he realizes that they make a perfect family.
Between Adrienne and Mace falling in love and the threat to the business we learn about the other Montgomery girls and get to see how Shep and his family are doing now that he has moved back home to Colorado Springs.
I can not wait to read more about this branch of the family.
