With the crown resting uneasily on her head, Lunar Witch Leigh Raelyn faces a fractured realm. As the one who disturbed the fragile peace, Leigh is bent on dismantling every law that has long divided her people. But betrayal lurks in every corner, and whispers of dissent are emerging from within her own Council.
Thousands of miles away in Aurora, Blade Commander Wilder Dunn is on a mission to quell the unrest in the kingdom’s south. Bound to his queen in duty and love, even Wilder’s loyalty wavers as his own people make a compelling argument against the monarchy.
But the brightest of plans can still repeat the darkest pages of history.
Meanwhile, someone steeped in death is intent on weaving political and personal intrigue between the witches and the vampires, further complicating Leigh’s task. And as a stranger claiming kinship darkens her doorstep, she realizes her fight is about more than securing her throne; it’s about reclaiming peace, before it’s shattered forever.
TAKE ROOT is the second book in the Eleventh Hour series by Brit KS. This fantasy-romance is filled with witches, vampires, werewolves, ancient laws, tech mixed with magic, and slow-burn lovers.
Brit KS has always been a voracious reader of many books — but all her favorites have kissing in them. Growing up in Laguna Beach, CA, she wrote stories, plays and truly awful poetry that didn’t improve with age. At college the boy next door stole her heart, and in 2021 they tied the knot in England with a ceremony that was equal parts Elfhame and Starfall. Brit currently spends her time in Atlanta, GA, with her husband, their two fur babies, and many, many cups of iced coffee.
This was everything I expected and wanted from a sequel!
I loved Leigh’s character development. Seeing how she handled being a literal queen was truly inspiring. If I were her I would’ve simply quit with everything going on in her court. But she stood tall and learned to rule and wield her magic.
Now, my man Wilder. 😩🔥 This man is a whole rain forest. He is such a green flag and supported Leigh all the way. Get yourself someone like Wilder or better yet, learn to be like him!
Another thing I’d like to note is how I loved Desiree having a pov as well. It was refreshing to see how the same story unfolded through her eyes as well.
Highly recommend reading this book if you like urban fantasy with politics! ✨
This was an amazing sequel! I loved Leigh’s growth, her as a leader, a person, and with her magic. Yes she still had some tricks up her sleeve and some secrets but she’s gotten so much better about trusting others! I also loved the addition of Desiree’s pov, between her, Leigh, and Wilders pov it felt like multiple books in one and we kind of got to see the entire storyline from all angles! Wilder, my mans, I love him but oh boy did he piss me off! I’m still upset with him after the ending however I’m sure he’ll fix it in the novella. (He better fix it!!) As someone who gets nervous with sequels, Brit knocked this out of the park. Every pov had a purpose, we learned things from start to finish, we got to learn and fall in love with Vane, and I’m so excited for what’s next. Thank you BritKS for the arc!

📌”She’s my curse and my salvation. My everything.”
📌 “Excuse you, I have a name!” “Yeah, Satan.” “Is that so? Well, honey, if this is Hell, I am dragging you down with me.”
📌 “You are my home. I’ll go where you go. Forever.”
Obsessed.
OBSESSED.
O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D.
Utterly. Completely. Devastatingly. Obsessed.
I’m a book 2 girlie. That’s where my love usually soars to ridiculous proportions. Brit came in with this sequel, hit my heart with it and I replied, “thank you, please do it again.” Because this book 2? It was made for me and I won’t be convinced otherwise.
{I’m Jess but I will respond to Leigh, my queen, and on occasion… sweetness}
There were a lot of walls built, secrets kept, loyalties betrayed in this one. You know, my kind of thing. But the best? How Leigh and Wilder kept fighting for them, for their country, for their love. And when they had to lay it all out, the kindness they showed was EVERYTHING. These two are forever engraved in my soul in all the best ways possible.
And my Desi-fangs?! Oh she made my soul cry - like recognizes like - in ways I wasn’t fully prepared to face. But she also made it soar with pride. Her growth, her strength... ahh she was so much more than she, herself, believed could be. And don’t even try to say anything bad about Vane because I won’t ever allow it. Not in my presence!
Thrilling, swooning, unputdownable sequel! I stayed up past 1am (despite needing to get up at 5am — ouch) because this must be consumed at full speed, with a full body and no regrets 🖤
YOU GUYS!!! This book was one of my most anticipated releases this year and I was giddy when the ARC hit my kindle! Sadly adult life kept getting in the way of devouring this baby!
Thankfully I can now say I loved it! The characters and the multiple POVs had me in a chockhold! Don't worry it's not too many!
I actually followed the different storylines really easy!
This book kept me up late last night and I woke up this morning and grabbed it because I was excited to finish it!
I think I need to reread book 1 and 2 already!
Grab this one if you love: ♡Bodyguards, witches, vampires and wolves! ♡Multiple povs ♡longing and angst ♡Side characters you'll fall in love with ♡Magical and political elements And so much more!
I’m so glad I did a reread before diving into arc reading Take Root! I fell in love with these characters all over again and got to follow them into the wild ride of Take Root.
If you enjoy urban fantasy, this is one to grab. You’ll get a broody, tattooed MMC, and a strong, witty FMC who talks to ghosts.

If you enjoy urban fantasy, or are like me and this series is more of your intro into urban fantasy, this is one to grab. The broody, tattooed MMC and strong, witty FMC who talks to ghosts will keep you on your toes.
WHAT I LOVE
1. Wilder and Leigh are a young couple growing through the problems that arise in their relationship and personal lives. Together. Also, while I love good battle scene spice, it’s refreshing to read a couple that doesn’t do it covered in the blood of their enemies.
2. This picks up where we left off in Raise Hell and gives recaps. I love recaps; my 37 year old autoimmune brain does not remember details I read a year ago. And my book nerd heart is too excited to read the new book to do a re-read first.
3. Multi-POV in first person. First person will always be superior and you will never convince me otherwise. Including the MMC POV will always grip me. The new POV added that was not in Raise Hell is divine.
4. Wolves. I will always prefer wolves to vampires (sorry, team Edward) unless we’re talking about Damon Salvatore and Klaus Michaelson, and I’ve yet to find the book version of them. Give me facial hair and a rugged MMC all day, every day.
5. We get two love stories in Take Root. What’s better than one couple to cheer for? Two.
6. Villain arcs (plural). I love a villain arc.
WHERE I STRUGGLE (my rating for this is not as mood related as my other reviews because I think these aspects may either just be me, personally, or because my brain fog is horrible right now and I’m battling focus)
1. More telling than showing. I feel more immersed in a story when it’s filled with more conversations and witty banter than descriptions and internal monologue. While I understand the need to explain the reasoning behind a character response in an urban fantasy, I would rather it be part of the story than a description of the story. When a character is asked a question, I don’t need a full page of descriptions before their answer.
2. This is likely my brain fog, but there is a lot happening in this book. While the stories converge, there were multiple plot lines across characters to get there. Each character was dealing with their own villain (sometimes villains) and I struggled to keep up. I couldn’t think about where it was going or what was happening because I was having to follow really closely. I like thinking of outcomes and then being hit with a jaw dropping twist.

Take Root is the sequel to Brit KS’ debut novel, Raise Hell and OMFG it did not disappoint. 😍 Perfect for plot focused readers who love fantasy books with a modern twist, turmoil, political chaos, secrets and second chance romance - Take Root takes you on an incredible journey. 🥹
I absolutely LOVED the new character POV and I honestly think Desi is my favorite Brit KS character (which is so hard to say bc Leigh & Wilder have had my heart). There’s just so much growth, and Desi’s mental health and her experiences make her so relatable to me personally and I love her. Leigh & Wilder (the main characters from book one whose stories continue in Take Root) had a miscommunication issue but not one that upset me like most miscommunication tropes! They will always be special to me and I can’t wait to see their story round out in the upcoming novella, Last Breath.
Also, Brit HELLLA stepped it up in the spice department in this book and ya girl was blushing 🤭🤭
Overall, completely enthralled with this. I’m usually such a spice heavy reader. So, reading a fantasy that kept me flipping the pages throughout the more plot-focused storyline is a testament to how freaking good this is!! I can’t wait to read Last Breath and anything else Brit writes. Her growth from her debut to now really shows her writing potential and I’m so hyped!!
A spellbinding sequel that expands the magic, heightens the stakes, and refuses to let go of your heart. ❤️
Take Root plunges readers back into the fractured world Brit KS masterfully built in “The Eleventh Hour”, and the tension has never been higher. Lunar Witch Leigh Raelyn now wears the crown—but ruling is far more treacherous than rebellion. With political unrest simmering, magical upheaval threatening the realm, and betrayals lurking within her own council, Leigh must navigate the brutal reality of power while clinging to her vision of peace.
Meanwhile, Blade Commander Wilder Dunn is torn between duty and desire as his mission uncovers new dangers—ones that test his loyalty to Leigh, his people, and himself. Their slow-burn romance simmers with aching intensity, a delicate balance of love, duty, and the sacrifices demanded by war.
Brit KS’s worldbuilding is nothing short of breathtaking. Witches, vampires, werewolves, and tech-infused magic collide in a realm teeming with political intrigue and ancient secrets. The prose is lush yet precise, and Leigh’s emotional journey—from revolutionary to reluctant ruler—is both poignant and powerful. Every chapter thrums with tension, heartbreak, and moments of unexpected hope.
Perfect for fans of: ✨ High-stakes fantasy with intricate court politics ✨ Magic systems blending technology and the arcane ✨ Found family and shifting loyalties ✨ Slow-burn romance strained by duty and war ✨ Emotionally rich storytelling with witches, vampires, and werewolves
Take Root isn’t just about reclaiming a throne—it’s about choosing peace over vengeance and forging a future from the ashes of the past. Brit KS has crafted a sequel that’s even more gripping than the first, leaving me desperate for the next installment. This book didn’t just captivate me—it took root in my soul.
Take Root (Eleventh Hour, Book 2) by Brit K.S Adult Urban Romantasy ARC Review
4🌟 3🌶️
“Excuse you, I have a name!” “Yeah, Satan.” “Is that so? Well, honey, if this is Hell, I am dragging you down with me."
I ARC reviewed Raise Hell and loved it, so naturally I had to do the same for the second book. A big thanks to Brit K.S. for giving me an advanced reader copy to review!
Sequels tend to be hit or miss for me, as they need to expand upon the plot established in the first book and press into new regions to keep the reader engaged. This book did just that. The socio-political landscape of this book is ever-evolving and very intricate. This aspect added depth to the book and added to the world-building done in the previous book.
The book picks up right where we left off in Raise Hell, with Leigh trying to find her footing in her new role as monarch. Leigh's willingness to fight for and create change for the better was very compelling. Add in Wilder, who is fighting for Leigh and alongside her to create a better world, and you have a recipe for a very persuasive sequel. Mix in the addition of Desiree’s point of view was so welcome, as it added another layer of depth to the story and got us involved in the side plots. I love it when a story has multiple moving pieces that at the end fit together to create a complete picture. That is exactly what the author did with the different POVs, plots, and subplots.
This book was a tension-filled, political thriller, set in a world of diversity, leaning towards chaos and war. Can the characters choose peace over revenge? Can they come to terms with their enemies and overcome animosities? To answer these questions, go read Take Root.
This book was a hit for me. It made me laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of my seat. Overall, it was a great continuation of the story set up in Raise Hell.
Brit KS's Take Root is a twisty, dark paranormal romantasy with helpings on intense political intrigue and romance galore.
I loved getting to return to this world that Brit has created. She does this stunning job of showing us the world in the aftermath of Leigh's revelations at the end of book one. Leigh is still fighting to make her voice known and when her ideas are overlooked it often leads her to impulsive actions to push for the better world she hopes to bring about for all. I liked getting to watch her finally find her footing in this part of the story. She is still sassy Leigh, but she is really working toward a wonderful goal, despite the doubt and challenges from other characters.
I also loved getting to see this new side of Wilder -- truly figuring out who he is, rather than who he was in relation to his dad, his mother, his mentor, and his sister. He has his own role and mission to play and I loved getting to see him really take charge.
Leigh's and Wilder's relationship had some bumps along the way, but I love that Brit really made their relationship feel real and raw as they struggled to figure out who they were as people, but also who they were to each other.
Now, Brit also added in one final POV and this character practically stole the damned show at times. Desiree really is a fun character to follow. She is salty, reckless, and fun in all the best ways. I loved watching her relationships with both Jax and Vane play out. Also, her troubled interactions with the Vampire Queen were some of my favorites. Her voice truly added another layer to the mysterious ins and outs of this conclusion to Raise Hell.
Honestly, stories like this remind me why Brit KS is an autobuy author for me. She knows how to weave a story that will sweep you up and keep you spinning until the very end. And I cannot wait to see what she writes next.
“Trust withers when fear takes root”. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5
ARC review. Take Root releases on June 3!
Brit KS second book in the Eleventh Hour series brings you back to an immersive experience in Borealis, where Leigh not only struggles with her role as Queen and the political intrigue that goes along with it, but also struggles with trusting her inner circle, and her relationship with Wilder as well.
In addition to Leigh and Wilder’s POV, we also get a third POV of Desiree, Wilder’s sister. Desiree is a lost soul, who has been seemingly abandoned by everyone…her sire, her family, her friends…and she’s trying to figure out her place in her world. I absolutely adored Desiree and her journey.
There are characters here that you want to slap, constantly. There are characters that you want to hug and tell them it will be ok. And then there are characters that you want to shake and yell “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”
What I loved is that this story evokes emotions on a wide range, and the twists and turns keep you turning the page and keeps you wondering…who CAN Leigh trust??
The spice has been taken up a notch from Raise Hell, so get ready for some heat! Not only between our two mains, but between other characters as well!
This was a fantastic, page-turning read full of tension, suspense, feelings, and spice! An extremely satisfying follow up to her debut novel, Raise Hell! I can’t wait for the third book in the series!
Take Root is a paranormal, urban fantasy with the following tropes:
✨Hate to Love ✨Queen/Soldier ✨Who to trust?! ✨Witches, Vampires, and Wolves, oh my!! ✨Magic ✨Family secrets ✨Political turmoil

Leigh seeks to make steady and sweeping changes but faces opposition, scandal, and betrayal at every turn. To succeed and survive, she must overcome every challenge as repercussions of the past and new threats converge.
Between tenuous alliances, rebellions, and secrets, the fight for a brighter future for Borealis ensues. Can Leigh hold onto her position without losing herself?

I love this consuming cast of characters who are raw and vulnerable works in progress. The author intricately explores the complexities of Leigh and Wilder’s relationship and the relationships of a new POV.
Leigh undergoes so much growth, from her political prowess to her ability to wield her feared magic. She and and Wilder must navigate uncertainty in their positions and relationship. Their passion burns so brightly and I could not get enough!
Themes of classism, loyalty, and redemption are examined, lending to a tension-filled narrative with multiple moving parts.
In Take Root, Brit KS delivers a high-stakes political drama that’s gripping, suspenseful, and brimming with angsty romances. I’m so excited for what’s next in this series!
Huge thanks to the other for the review copy opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.
It’s hard to find a better way to say it because “Take Root” is TRULY just SO GOOD. I can’t be emphatic enough about how much you need to add “Take Root” (and its predecessor “Raise Hell”) to your romantasy collection.
Highlight reel of my favorites:
💙The heterogeneity of magical creatures - so many species, all central to the story! 🖤 It’s a modern world with magical creatures, yet resonates with some of the challenges we face in ours 💙Female baddie protagonists (yes - plural!!!) 🖤Just right spice 🥵 💙The dialectic of the MMC - he acknowledges the complexity of politics (and love 😉) where two things can be true at once 🖤THE NEW👏🏼FIRST PERSON 👏🏼PERSPECTIVE 👏🏼 (I don’t want to spoil but ooo we LOVE her) 💙Not just magical, we get paranormal 🖤 Seamless integration of first person perspectives into the primary plot that has you flipping page after page when you said you’d stop for the night at the end of the chapter 👀 💙 Fast paced, and the plot do be twisting like WHAT 🤯 🖤I had a book hangover when I turned the last page - iykyk
Leigh, Wilder, and the gang are like friends. I read “Take Root” during a stressful time in my life and I was immersed in a safe space that simultaneously validated some of my own experiences. The magic of “Take Root” was everything & more, and I truly cannot recommend this book enough.
Take Root by Brit K.S. is a masterclass in tension, nuance, and character evolution. If Raise Hell lit the match, Take Root fans the flames into a political wildfire that burns through loyalties, love, and legacy.
Queen Leigh Raelyn is more powerful than ever—but power is a double-edged blade, and this book carves deep. With the weight of the crown pressing against her Lunar magic, Leigh is not only rebuilding a kingdom torn apart by fear and division but also reckoning with the ghosts of betrayal that linger in every shadowed corner of her court. Brit K.S. handles Leigh’s arc with raw elegance, allowing her to remain fierce while exploring the vulnerabilities that come with leadership and loss.
Wilder Dunn’s chapters add a soul-piercing contrast. His sense of duty collides with cracks in his belief system, testing the bond between queen and commander in a way that feels both epic and heartbreakingly human. Their love—rooted in fire and forged in battle—is tested like never before, and it’s absolutely gripping.
This installment doesn’t just raise stakes—it replants them in richer, darker soil. The pacing is tight, the twists are devastating, and the prose is gorgeously poetic without losing clarity. Political intrigue, forbidden truths, and shifting alliances keep you guessing until the final page.
Take Root is the perfect sequel!! I could not put it down every chapter, every page left me feeling a new emotion, whether that was swooning over Wilder and Leigh, or questioning just who may or may not be plotting against our characters and their path to peace and happily ever after! Take Root picks up right where book one left off, and in we see that not all is sunshine and rainbows for our main group of characters. Especially Leigh, because while she may have won some of the people over by exposing the truth others won’t be happy until she truly proves she’s determined to right the wrongs her family and others have perpetrated over the years or seen her stripped of power completely. And while Wilder loves Leigh and is determined to help he’s trapped between two worlds, two worlds he would love nothing more than to see thrive together. Not to mention our third POV character who truly steals the show! So all of that to say that if you’re looking for a book filled with magical political intrigue, secrets, mysteries, so many amazing characters, hilarious banter, so so much romance, with the perfect amount of spice and an ending that’ll leave you smiling then be sure to grab a copy of Take Root today!
What do you mean I’m going to cry? That wasn’t part of the agreement.
Yes I did cry & get teary eyed multiple times. Am I in my feelings? Yes but this is also an emotional book & it was amazing! I was addicted from the get go & I just HAD to know what was going on next. I am so in love with this series. It’s so fun & exciting. Ugh 10/10 yes please.
I loved all of the challenges that were presented to Wilder & Leigh & the gang but dang. Wilder had it rough with trying to get opposites to just get together who wanted the same thing. I understand why Leigh was reserved but poor Wilder. So glad to see their journey grow. My cheeks just hurt so much from smiling about those two. Ugh Wilder is swoony.
I fully became invested in Desiree. Like really invested. The whole vampire thing. Love it. You can never go wrong with vampires & I stand by that. Vane 👁️🫦👁️. More please! He’s just… 🫠. IYKYK & I just want more. Desiree made me cry. Her past & her feelings. Way to pull at my heartstrings.
This was one of my most anticipated 2025 reads & I’m so glad it’s out in the world. Such a fun time. Also that bonus chapter. I’ve read things but that made me blush. Oh my.
Finally, it’s here, the second book in the duet. I was thrilled to start it, and I enjoyed every bit of the chaos. It was an intense story with so much going on and so much to uncover. We have 3 POVs in the story, and I am very very glad that Brit considered the third POV, it has really made everything flawless to understand and get a solid grip of the plot.
Read to find out who the third person is, and I love-love the person and their side of the story. It was one fabulous take, and I am curious to see more of them. But now on to Wilder and Our Queen Leigh. They are spectacular and true to each other. There were times when nothing seemed to go right, and a lot was breaking, but I kept faith.
Once I started the book, it was a roller coaster of events and deception and betrayal took place, it left me wondering with theories. I applaud Brit KS for writing this baby. It was fast-paced, and the best thing I got to see was more of the vampires, which was actually very fun. Must-read duet. I am hoping to see more of these characters in future.
I was fortunate enough to get an e-ARC of Take Root and man did this keep me on the edge of my seat!!
We find our heroines separated into three main storylines and trust me when I say you won’t be skipping chapters because it’s impossible to choose a favorite! Okay my favorite is Vane… but I still didn’t want to skip ahead!
Queen Leigh is learning that heavy is the head that wears the Crown and her mistrust of others isn’t helping with that weight.
Meanwhile Wilder is on a mission of his own and let’s just say it isn’t a warm welcome home.
Desi and Vane have a tension that may have actually prompted me to curse at our dear author because as we all know, he’s my book boyfriend.
This book was full of political intrigue, magic weaved throughout, my vampire bebes, and Werewolves!
Vibes for this book: modern day Game of Thrones meets True Blood meets Vampire Diaries (because everyone is young and hot).
We’re back on Borealis and there is danger ahead. Leigh has been crowned but when secretes get exposed who can she trust to help her navigate the politics that threaten her crown.
Book 2 in the Eleventh Hour series takes you on an adventure across three interconnecting storylines. Leigh’s POV focuses on her struggles of running a Kingdom on the brink of collapse. Wilder’s POV as he tries to help Leigh navigate the political twists and turns. Then you have Desiree’s (Wilders Twin sister) POV and the challenges of Vampire life - this also heavily features Vane and I refuse to accept any Vane hatred on my watch!!
This book is filled with twists, turns, suspense, spices and a heavy dose of emotions!
Congratulations Brit on an excellent second novel!

The Eleventh Hour series is such a strong debut and I’m beyond proud of my girl for delivering something this gripping and polished right out of the gate.
Take Root picks up exactly where we left off from Raise Hell, and it’s non stop action from page one. There are a lot of characters and moving parts, but it never feels overwhelming. The tension and suspense are constant, and I swear it drove me crazy in the best way trying to figure out who the culprit was!
While the focus is on Wilder and Leigh (who I loved) it was Vane and Desiree who really tugged at my heart. Their connection was it for me, maybe because they’re vampires?! 🤣 I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I’ve heard there’s a novella in the works, and I’m crossing all my fingers it’s about them. But if not… Soter and Isolde, maybe? Either way, I’m so ready!
Thank you for letting me ARC read this, though I seriously thought I wasn’t going to make the cut. Damn email typo!😅
This sequel does not hold back. There's political concerns, interpersonal issues, and individual growth abound.
Leigh and Wilder are trying to keep their country in one piece while holding prominent positions and trying to maintain a relationship. Whew. I'm exhausted just typing that. They're trying their best folx! They might withhold things from time to time, but Leigh and Wilder will always reconcile. I love those precious babes so much.
We get a new POV for Desi and she is absolutely wonderful and raw and relatable. Her journey and relationship with the vampires and Jaxson will hit you square on the chest. Vane will keep you on your toes and you'll be chomping at the bit for more. Jaxson is arguably my favorite and I think he deserves the world.
Ultimately, this story allows all of our characters to come into their own and you just have to buckle up.
Brit KS brings us back to her lush fantasy world with the sequel to her first book, Raise Hell. Take Root begins right where Raise Hell ends. I savored every last word of Take Root. It was one of my most anticipated releases of 2025 and it blew any and all expectations that I had out of the water! While reading Take Root, I didn’t want it to end. It was soooooo good! I definitely drew out my reading experience a couple of days to truly enjoy it. I can’t wait to reread it again when the audiobook releases. 👀
Take Root was such a captivating read, you never knew what was going to happen next, and the characters are unforgettable. I love this book so much and it’s definitely going to be added to my all time favorites list. Seriously, Brit KS’ writing is top tier! 15/10 Recommend!
What an epic finale. I absolutely loved this story and even more so in this second book with Desi's POV. As much as I adore Wilder and Leigh, I'm absolutely in love with Desiree and was foaming at the mouth over her situationships with Vane and Jaxson. And honestly with her mom and Vyvyan too. Really just anything to do with Desi and I was smiling ear to ear.
There's a lot going on in this one, but I thought Brit did a phenomenal job of bringing it all to a head and explaining it along the way. She has such a way with words and I really just enjoy her writing style. It truly has an ethereal quality to it at times, and really lends to building the world in your head.
I'm so excited for what's next from Brit. She's teasing us with book three already and I can't wait to dive in.
Loved having an established couple. Where you can see them still figuring things out in their relationship, so refreshing to see. Leigh embracing her new role and navigating all the responsibilities it has while sticking to her beliefs, Wilder in his new role and them just trying to survive after everything in Raise Hell.
I absolutely loved the new POV. I love seeing more of the vampires and the Nest. I feel so much for this new POV and everything she had to go through and not feeling seen.
We got to learn more about the world, visiting Aurora, hearing about Lua. I'm so excited for this world that Brit has created!
The politics were amazing. Leigh now being queen is difficult and she finds it really hard to trust people but it’s because people constantly lie or betray her. She’s balancing doing what’s best for the country and trying to help the Nebula & Lunar witches while also being in a relationship with Wilder.
Wilder is trying to support Leigh while being a blade commander. People he thought were his friends see him differently now so he’s dealing with a lot. His love and devotion to Leigh is strong and just the cutest.
Vane and Desiree were everything!! The tension?! Ugh I love me some vampires.
This book was soooo much fun! I absolutely love the way this series puts me on the edge of my seat. Was I stressed? Yes. Did I love it? Absolutely! I’m so happy to have received an arc of this book because I genuinely could not wait to continue this series. One of my favorite things about this one was the fleshed out side characters. This plot showed how everything in book one affected multiple people which is super interesting. I genuinely can’t wait to read anything Britks writes because it’s always a fun time. I highly recommend this series if you love action packed books with amazing romance!!!
This sequel was everything I wanted it to be and more. I was left chomping at the bit after Raise Hell and man oh man did Brit K.S. deliver. I was kept on edge between each chapter and will admit I read this book entirely too fast because I couldn't put it down. Who doesn't love a Queen and her Bodyguard romance with political rebellion brewing and a healthy dose of paranoia. We get to see some more of the characters that were introduced in the first book which helps to tell the story from multiple POVs giving the reader a fantastic understanding of the dynamics at play.
Please do yourself a favor and pick up this duet to read!
Take Root continues to follow Wilder and Leigh. Leigh grew so much in this book not only as a person but also as a leader and with her magic. Leigh and Wilder were put through the ringer both personally and in their relationship. Leigh's family needs to discover the meaning of healthy and open communication!!!
This time we also get to see Desiree's POV and I fell in love with her!!! I loved her relationship and banter with Vane. Their chemistry was perfect!
I also loved the edition of Aldens character. He was such a flirt and mischievous. You never quite knew what he was up to.
I loved this! Take Root took everything that was great about Raise Hell and ran with it! There’s just something about this world that I really enjoy! And it was nice to come back to the characters we know and love, while also getting a peek into another character’s POV.
If you love political intrigue, multiple POVs, witches, vampires, and werewolves, spice, and an interesting storyline/world, this is the perfect blend!
well well well what do we have here? what we have is a great continuation of our first book! we can see our beloved princess, now queen, trying to figure out not only ruling but her relationship also. we have love, passion but what would a book be without a betrayal hidden well behind the scenes? grab your book now and trust me you will get lost in the world too!❤️
