The line between sanity and sobriety can quickly fade when you can talk to the dead…

Gina Flinn is no stranger to the dark side. She’s been walking the tightrope with death for years. Plagued with abnormal abilities ranging from picking up old memories to reading auras, Gina found herself in a downward spiral into drugs and alcohol.

She’s been clean and sober for a year now, but when she starts seeing the pesky ghost of the old lady down the street, things start to unravel. It’s a minor annoyance until a ghost of a woman in red shows up and starts tormenting Gina with visions of a violent past

Seeing a side of death that no one should leads Gina straight into Ben Peterson’s path…

In an attempt reunite the old lady with her beloved cat, Gina runs into Ben, who is eager to help her. But no one can help her—the woman in red is relentless, which forces Gina to turn back to the comfort of intoxication. She blacks out and wakes up in bed with Ben, only to find herself on the wrong side of the law.

Gina got into a fight with one of her classmates during her blackout, and now the girl is missing…

Gina is the number one suspect, and with her history of substance abuse and erratic behavior, everyone is sure she’s guilty. She knows she’s innocent and it all leads back to the woman in red.

But with the police breathing down her neck, and Ben the only person willing to believe her story, Gina must find a way to prove her innocence or finally accept that maybe she really is…

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review through lovers of the paranormal book group on goodreads.

Did someone say ghosts, craziness, and possible romance?

This book was quite a ride. I have never read a book like this before. This book had to have taken some dedication and hard work to write, because everything is so detailed, it makes complete sense. There is no part of the book that had you question the authors writing.

From the moment I started reading this book I knew I was going to enjoy the book, and I knew without a doubt that this would be a book I would recommend to others. I don't know how to describe it. I just felt a pull towards this book like I was drawn to it. I would find myself so caught up that I didn't realize that I wasn't a part of the book until I looked up at the clock and realized what time it was.

This book is a perfect read for Halloween time! I am so glad I got the chance to sit down and read this book, because it just took me away. This is the farthest away I have been from reality, and that says a lot. I didn't have to worry about my migraines, money, rent or anything else. All I had was me, a blanket, and the book which took me away from everyday worries, and into a world where things felt so real. This book was so worth my time!

I would recommend this book to people 17 and up because of extreme violence, adult content, and other things that are not for a young readers eyes.

Cursed was such an incredible book! Gina is the brooding protagonist & I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say she is gifted. She is the very definition of poignant... this "gift" if hers lands her in the path of a man named Ben who keeps you guessing at every turn. This story is full of plot twists and hair raising adventures, as well as a love interest that will make you tingle all over. I love Gina's character and the side she doesn't want you to see of herself. That reminds me of me; I feel like Nykki Mills has hit the nail on the head once again in making us, the readers, see pieces of ourselves in the book.

(If you haven't read "Sacrificed," yet, it's the prequel to Cursed & is a must read on your book shelf.)

This isn't normally the type of thing I like to read...it borders more on the paranormal/horror rather than the paranormal/fantasy.
But that's okay. I won't lie, I came across this cover on another website and was like, "Oooh...me likey..."
Gina Flinn is a hot damn mess...sarcastic and witty and has a wall up to keep out the dead people that keep trying to speak to her. She turns to self-medication to deal with her ability...at first.

Along with some surprising allies, Gina attempts to solve a mystery plaguing her town for quite some time.

Funny, and witty with a touch of romance and the promise for more. NO CLIFFHANGER! But you're still left wanting to come back to see the next debacle Gina gets into.

It sort of feels like "Ghost Whisperer" meets "Buffy" meets "Charmed" in a way. Good stuff. Fast paced page turner.

There were a couple little grammatical problems but nothing that takes away from the story. Happens in all books so no one should really be surprised nor get all crabby about because overall it's pretty grammatically sound, I think.

All in all a well written little "ghost" story!

I loved this book! It was creepy, but thrilling at the same time. So Gina can not only see dead people but she can also talk to them. This becomes important when one of the local girls ends up dead, especially when Gina is the main suspect. Now, the ghosts either gonna save her or be the cause of her demise.

This paranormal kind of made me think of teenage supernatural. There is a gang that fights paranormal entities and they are filled with angst, and sexual tension.

One of the best things about this book is that Mills doesn't shy away from the tough subjects and Gina isn't the girl next door. It's something different and you'll never guess how it ends. Give this book a chance before the next one comes out!

I loved this book. Gina has such a way about her that is likable and badass at the same time. She has chemistry with all the characters and always surprises me. Mills did a great job with bringing out the angst without it being too whiney. She also didn't sugarcoat the bad stuff. Gina deals with real emotions in very real ways... and she tries to solve a murder before she's blames for it! What more could you want?

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest R2R. I am so glad I did. This book was hauntingly refreshing.

This book for me had it all the troubled disorganized heroine, the cute hero, the chilling storyline with the occasional witty humor, and the happy ending. Gina lives with the fact that her mom is a drunk and everyone thinks she's a liar. She has inherited her mother's ability to see and communicate with the dead a fact she is originally unwilling to accept. The last few years of her life have been chaotic to put it mildly and the book opens with the fur about to really fly.

I read this book overnight so for me it had that extra terrifying element that comes from reading ghost stories in the dark in a silent house where every bump outside has you thinking someone's there to murder you. Very few books are able to do that for me anymore, but this one did! The lady in red was terrifying and if I'm honest at the start so was Ben. It truly was super creepy that he just happened to be everywhere she needed him to be with no real explanation as to why. Was he stalking her? I felt like the book never satisfied my need for an explanation to that.

Overall this is a book I think any lover of the paranormal reading genre had better grab a copy of. I loved that this book did not have a slow start. It did not pussyfoot around the story the author dug right in. I could not set it down and look forward to future novels from this author!

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Holy cow! I loved this book! So much, in fact, that I stayed up until 3AM to finish it. It was absolutely amazing! I can't recommend this book enough to all of you out there who like a great, fast-paced, full of action and a little taste of horror read. Did I say it was amazing...because I can't remember:)

Let me tell you why I loved it.

Gina-Okay, so this girl drove me bonkers, but definitely in a good way. I like when I go on a ride with the character and I definitely felt like I did that with Gina. She was so hell bent on accepting every bad thing in her life as normal that I felt horrible for all of the things she put herself through because of it. Absolutely amazing writing going on with this character. I felt what she felt and I was really rooting for her to just stop torturing herself because I could see how good of a person she actually was. The front she put on was just that.

Ben-A man with mystery. The truth is, Ben is just as tortured as Gina, he just hides it extremely well. It's awesome though that he knows about this world and their chemistry is on fire! I found myself flipping through the pages to see if they ever gave in and took the plunge for that kiss I wanted them to have so badly. Smouldering moments between Ben and Gina for sure.

I hated Trent. All he was to me was an enabler.

Chance-He redeemed himself in my eyes and became a pretty good friend. Pretty cool although he was a pretty secondary character and we didn't see a lot of him.

As for the lady in red...I couldn't figure her out the whole story. I think Mills wrote her character extremely well to add a layer of mystery and kept me guessing the whole time. There were surprises along the way and I loved the story unfolding before my eyes.

The other bad guys were great too. Bad, jerky and extremely hateable...which I know isn't a word but it just fits.

If you like YA Paranormal, ghosts and the whole scary story appeal, you will loved Cursed. I know I did. Just make sure you keep a light on when you read it.

If you haven't got this already, I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next in the series!

This is the second book that I've read by Nykki Mills ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the amazing story .Ms Mills has given us a story that will suck you in and keeps you there from first to finish , and then will leave us wanting more from the author. I liked this book so much that I don't go to bed until 4A.M. even when I knew that I had to be up at 7A.M , but that was okay . This story is full of action, fast -pact , and has a splash of horror wrapped in it, but I will tell you this story will have you on the edge of your chair ,until you find out what is going to happen next. Gina -wow this girl drove me crazy sometimes , but in a good way. As I'm reading I have this feeling that I'm on a roller coaster ride with Gina and what a feeling that is. Gina was a girl that would accept everything that went bad in her life ,like is was normal. She had put herself through so much ,and my heart went out to her. Gina's character was so awesome and so well written , but this whole storyline flowed so smoothly. But then there's Ben a mystery kind of guy, the real truly about him, is he's tortured just like Gina. But for one thing he hides it extremely well. It's quite amazing that he knows about this world , but you would almost see the chemistry between these two as you are reading , the flames coming from them are steamy and hot. I was hoping that their would soon give in and take the chance on their first kiss that they needed. They secondary characters were well written and make this story plot great. I could tell you more about this story ,but that would truly spoil it for you. I highly recommend that read this amazing story ,you won't be disappointed.

Gina is gifted, but it’s not something she wants or accepts. She’s been able to see auras for years, as well as having a few other special gifts but instead of embracing her gifts she spiralled into drink and drugs. The line between sanity and sobriety has been a very thin and wobbly one for her.

The novel starts after Gina has been clean and sober for over a year, living with her cousin and trying to get on with her life. But the appearance of her dead old neighbour is a sign that Gina’s powers are growing and something bad is about to happen. Her neighbour’s son, Ben, always seems to appear when she needs him and even when she doesn’t. Does he know more than he’s letting on? Gina starts having blackouts, endures horrific visions and predicts that a fellow school student, Amber, is about to die after being haunted by a dead woman in a red dress. So when Amber goes missing Gina becomes an outlaw and she must find a way to prove her innocence.

I really enjoyed this, I found it gritty, easy to read and action packed. Mills doesn’t shy away from the seedier side of life, something I thought gave Cursed a unique angle. I loved the complicated relationships, the banter and how strong Gina as a character was. I hope there will be a second book about her adventures because it was such a great read!

Gina Flinn isn’t known as a pillar of society. Her past includes drug use, arrest and time in a psych ward. However Gina has put that all in the past and is trying to stay clean as a promise to her cousin and stay far away the darkness of her past. But sometimes the past and the monsters in it refuse to stay quite.
Ben Peterson is trying to get his late aunt’s affairs in order and is ready to get everything done and over with so he can get back to his life far away from the town that harbors secrets of his past and mistakes he rather forget all about. That is until he finds a beautiful dark haired girl with a chip on her shoulder in his aunt’s house looking for her dead cat…
Nykki Mills does it again! I am a HUGE fan of this authors writing and she has hit out of the park again. I made the mistake of reading this terrifyingly realistic book while watching Ghost Adventures in a dark empty apartment… That led to a pretty late night of me sitting in bed wide awake scared out of my mind but dying to finish the book!

Nykki is a skilled author who knows how to draw in her readers. From the very first page I wanted to know more, making this a difficult book to put down. The plot is unique and refreshing following a great pace. I never felt rushed nor did it drag on, which I find some authors struggle to find. Thankfully this was not the case.

Gina is an interesting character. I struggled with her quite a bit since she really seems to just make one bad decision after the other. I think her heart is in the right place though and you can see her developing through the story. Even though I was not a big fan of hers in the beginning, I did enjoy her at the end and wouldn't mind reading more about her in the future. Overall she is quite an interesting heroine. Gina is supported, if she wanted it or not, by Ben who is just plain adorable and is a very likable character. Even with their differences they seem to match up well though.

I will definitely get the next one once it is out since I really enjoyed this book.

****I received this book in exchange for an honest review, from Lovers of Paranormal.****

This concept was really cool. It was really engaging and what really helped was Gina's personality. But the concept itself was fact paced and exciting and even though Gina's attitude sometimes frustrated the HECK out of me, I was always entertained!

This is my first book by Nykki Mills and I really really enjoyed it.

I didn't give it a full 5 stars, only because I wanted MORE Ben at the end. I feel like I didn't get my full fill of him....and Gina together. I wasn't completely satisfied.

If it's even possible, I enjoyed EVERYTHING else though. I loved the characters, from the dead people, to Lynn and Adrian, to Kass and Ian.....to the "good" cop, Officer Roudy and Gina's mom (at the end).

It was a short read, but I was thoroughly entertained....I'd definitely recommend it!

Gina has a gift, or if you were to ask her a curse. She can see and speak to the dead. Her life is in a tailspin because drugs and alcohol are the only things that keep everything away.

Ben is EVERYWHERE, but he's definitely always there when needed.

There are a lot of different things going on in this story and it will definitely pull you in and keep you interested.
It has a bit of a horror feel with suspense and paranormal being the main themes that stood out to me.

I am an avid horror fan so nothing "scares" me, but it was engaging and suspenseful enough that more times than not I had to keep reading and know what happened.

Looking forward to more books of Nykki's!

If you like spooky and twisted stories, cursed is right up your alley. Gina is unlike so many characters out there. She is flawed and her entire world is in chaos from things that go bump in the night. This is one story I couldn't figure out with all of its twists and turns. A great follow up to Nykki's debut Sacrificed.

Good read

This was a good read. I had really expected there to be another book after but was disappointed to not find one. The way the ending was it could have been a standalone or series and I would have preferred to see where else it could go.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED! Paranormal is my favorite genre, especially when there are ghosts AND love in the air. Gina is a riot. I loved her snarky remarks, which didn't seem like too many or too much. I laughed out loud at a few exchanges. There's a good plot to this and a few surprises that I didn't see coming. Ben is my new book boyfriend, by the way. CLAIMED. I thought Aiden and Lynn were a good fit. I sincerely hope there is another book coming.
I highly recommend picking up this book.

Gina is a girl about to enter college but who feels lost in life. That's because the women of her mother's family have the gift of seeing and talking to the dead.
For Gina who can not deal very well with it, it's a curse.
To make matters worse, her mother doesn't seem to know how to deal well herself, since she is practically an alcoholic prostitute and avoids her daughter at all costs.
Gina is supported by her cousin Ian and his girlfriend, Kass, even the two not knowing what the real Gina problem is. For them, Gina is going through a difficult phase so she turns to drugs.
Until Gina begins to have several episodes in which not remember what happened and one of these episodes she ends up being accused of murder of a classmate.

The aid, although strange at first, comes from where she least expects, Ben Peterson, the great-nephew of a trailer neighbor who died recently. Ben was in charge of caring for the great-aunt's belongings in the trailer. But he ends up there and show an unusual interest in Gina.
And it is from there that the reader asks: what is his real interest in Gina? Does he have the same gift of her?
The book is dark, with many mysteries to be solved and a main character lost between what is real and what is afterlife.
Ideal for those who like stories with mysteries and twists.

I felt no connection with any character, not only because she always resort to drugs - that I could understand - but the fact that most part of the book she behaves like a rude spoiled brat, sending away all around . She didn't know which side to stay: on the side of those who wanted to help her or the side of those who brought drugs for her. Ben was the only one who remained constant, and even then she was a bitch with him. I was losing my patience.
An interesting plot, but the dialogue and the confusion of a lot of dead people appearance didn't captivate me. Sorry.

Page turning, fun read...

This book grabbed me from the start. It's a dark tale of a young woman who sees dead people. However, it's more than that with a crooked police chief and mayor in town. The story provides mystery, thrills and chills. Plus a little romance thrown in the mix. I enjoyed the plot and it had an intriguing cast of characters. The heroine, Gina, I found sympathetic even though at times I wanted to slap her, she frustrated me so much. She was quite skilled at sabotaging her own life, but in the end...well, I won't tell you the end. ;)

Such a good novel

This series slays me, To put it simply, it saddens me to know so many bibliophiles will never read this book - because the storyline is UNIQUE & original & far reaching! Mills writes with passion, fervor & confidence all the while keeping it classy. I can't wait for the next in the installment.
