The members of G.O.R.E. Sector can never catch a break.
Following the disappearance of numerous vessels, Thomas Rodney leads the members of Raptor Pack to Mauto, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean. Utilizing the inventions of Dr. Howard Tate, they set out to determine the cause.
Before long, the ugly truth reveals itself. A menacing threat has awakened, and it is unlike anything they have yet faced.
Multi-limbed, armored, and capable of great bursts of speed, the latest of mutations seeks to rule the sea and eradicate anything that dares challenge it. It has the strength to crush the hulls of warships and a temper to kill regardless of whether it feels hungry.
Before the meteor storm, it was a simple nautilus, tranquil and elegant. For the people of Mauto, it is a nightmarish monster, bloodthirsty and vehement.
Fortunately for them, monsters are G.O.R.E. Sector’s specialty

Nautilus by Michael Cole is a great entry to the G.O.R.E Sector series. The overall story is fun and engaging. I also really enjoyed the character development with Howard. Who was definitely the stand out character of this one. As for the creature that the Nautilus gives us, it grants us the intelligence of a Cephalopod. With one of the toughest armor Cole has ever given a creature. Making it truly a deadly foe. The kills in this one are pretty good nothing to over the top but grounded in reality if this creature really were to exist and attack people. All in all i would give this one five out of five stars and would defiantly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Creature Features or just enjoys a fun read.
A mediocre, but at least entertaining creature feature about a Nautilus, caused to grow to hundreds of feet long by one kind of exposure to dust from a passing meteroid. The creature is at least unexpected, no-one expects a giant snail to run amuck. Only recommended for dedicated creature feature fans. Others will likely enjoy the book as well, young adults in particular. There's very little use of expletives, sexual content or graphic violence, so it should be ok for the 12 years and up, unless a child is particularly sensitive and prone to nightmares. A 13 year old is likely to enjoy the book more than the adult audience.
I’ve read all Michael Cole’s books as a get-away type read and enjoyed them. But this was simply dreadful. Was he writing for teenagers? Did Howard really have to throw up constantly? Please, don’t bother writing unless you actually have a new story to tell and not the same ridiculous plot, only more cartoonish.
Another good addition to the series. I like how the author is taking what start out as relatively harmless creatures and turns them into thought out cataclysmic creatures. If you are a fan of Kaiju/Tokusatsu shows, you need to check out this series.
The Raptor Pack are back, this time at sea chasing down a creature destroying boats. What they find is a mutated creature, that is growing stronger, more daring and looking to mark its territory. Good book again, the interactions between the characters, both main and supporting, is what makes it.
This was a great addition to this series. I like the science and technology used in the stories. Nature unleashed like never before. Really interesting and adventurous storyline with a great cast of characters.
These novels are a perfect length. Not so short as to feel rushed. And not too long to be boring. Plenty of action and character development. Balenger is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters, despite only being a side character
Nautilus was the third book in the GORE series. It saw the team go after a pesky crustacean (okay, some kind of icky bug). Mayhem ensued and there was plenty of actual gore. I had a great time and read it in a few hours. Sort, sweet, and to-the-point. Highly recommended.
I really like this series and I'm looking forward to reading the next one when it's ready. In the meantime, I'm going to pick another book by Michael Cole.
One I feel bad about Howard. He gets sick by throwing up all the time. Plus he is holding a past he can't get by. Until his team needs him, he faces it to save his team before it's too late. RIP.
