I know she's our fated mate, but could we have gotten a more embarrassing Omega? Let's just have one last night of fun. No one will ever have to know. . .

Piper is an Omega from the wrong side of the tracks, but on Selection Day she matches with the hottest Alpha Pack in town. For a moment it looks like all her dreams have come true. But the problem is. . . her pack doesn't want her. Powerful politician Rook doesn't see her as good for his image, snobby aristocratic Erain thinks she's too trashy, and football superstar Teddy doesn't want to settle down at all.

When Piper is left alone on her wedding night, she realizes her Alphas have all betrayed her. In her fury, she perfumes in the bridal suite and runs away. When Rook, Erain, and Teddy find out she's gone, one whiff of her delectable scent drives them crazy with the urgent need to find her and make things right.

But tracking Piper down isn't easy and she doesn't find their desperate need to knot her very convincing. . .

Author's This romance contains on-page cheating between the MMCs and OW and a very high level of 'writhing in agony' groveling and sad pitiful begging. It also has knotting, biting, heats, and a HEA with the cheating Alphas.

I can’t emphasize enough how much this book would benefit from at least two or three more rounds of editing.

The tense shifts between present and past at random (sometimes within the same sentence) which breaks immersion and at times makes it hard to follow the story.
The pacing also feels uneven and rushed. I’m genuinely not exaggerating when I say that a hallway smeared with cat poop gets more page time than the entire wedding.

The worldbuilding wasn‘t fleshed out very well, and especially in the beginning there was a lot of info dumping, while neglecting to tell other parts of the world. Like the fact that the characters are shifters, which isn’t even mentioned until well into the book, and it then doesn’t seem to have any impact on the story.

The MMCs feel like exaggerated caricatures and are practically indistinguishable from one another. The FMC, while not a doormat (which I appreciated), doesn’t feel like a fully developed character either. Her only consistent trait seems to be stubbornness, and even that lacks nuance.

The humor didn’t land for me. It mostly relied on “random thing happened, now laugh!” moments, which didn’t really work.

There is plenty of groveling, which is something I usually enjoy, but here it didn’t carry much emotional weight. The MMCs cry, howl, and drop to their knees a lot, but there’s little real effort shown in terms of growth or understanding her on a deeper level until the VERY end.
They repeatedly say they want more than sex, but I didn’t really feel it. They claim they would’ve loved her even without scenting her, but that’s hard to believe when their initial reaction to her was practically disgust.

Conclusion: With extensive editing, I think this could become a fun, lighthearted read. But as it stands, it reads like a rough first draft that really needs refinement.
I was really torn on the star rating, but settled on 2 stars for potential alone.

Sidenote: at one point, she gets a ring with a “knot” on it, and I pray that they mean knot🪢, not knot🍆

If this novel was an AITA post, I would have to say ESH. The alphas get in one last bang with their girlfriends on their wedding night. The FMC deliberately makes herself unappealing and then wonders why they didn't fall at her feet. She completely blows up their lives. They went low? She wants to go lower. I don't get it, but that's a me thing, I guess. This book is listed as a grovel for forgiveness, but its really not. It is the FMC doing everything she can to make their lives a dumpster fire and the MMCs just taking it. Other than their constant apologies, there isn't a huge effort to make amends other than just being around her. This whole book is like a Carrie Underwood song, and I'm not a fan of her music.

1 Star – DNF at 40%

This might be the worst book I’ve read in 2025. The writing is riddled with grammatical errors and incoherent sentences, making it difficult to follow. The pacing is erratic, jumping from scene to scene with little to no context. Honestly, this book desperately needed a team of editors, multiple beta readers, and probably a different author to even become passable.

I’ll give credit where it’s due the concept had potential. Cheating and betrayal are rarely explored in reverse harem plots, so I was intrigued. Unfortunately, the execution was so poor I was genuinely worried I’d lose brain cells if I kept going.

The FMC is written as a caricature: bitter because she grew up poor, she assumes anyone with money is evil. She curses constantly and is described in every stereotypical “white trash” trope imaginable, sweatpants, huge hoop earrings, multicolored hair, chain-smoking, the works. She claims she doesn’t want mates but somehow takes offense when they’re not interested in her either.

The three male leads are just as two-dimensional, an actor, a politician, and a football player. Their internal thoughts and dialogue feel like they were lifted from a bad fanfic. They’re clearly involved with other women and have no interest in the FMC.

Then, out of nowhere, the FMC turns into some ultra-capable badass who knows exactly how to go off the grid and hide like a pro. Very believable. The guys, meanwhile, turn into desperate, spineless simps chasing after her. Not sexy. Not compelling.

I genuinely can’t describe how bad this book is…you have to suffer through it yourself to fully understand. I stopped at 40%, and I’m fairly sure I lost a few neurons in the process.

I am SO far behind on my reviews that the prospect of me being able to catch up anytime this year seems like a remote one. Still, nothing to it but to roll my sleeves up and dive in...

A month and a half on I don't recall any of the characters' names, but I do quite vividly remember the plotline. The heroine is an unconventionally tall and non-feminine omega who discovers that her fated mates are (naturally) a pack of the most sought-after alphas a realm, consisting of a Politician, a Tortured Artist ('TA'), and a Jock (since I have forgotten their names, those will do). Politician, TA and Jock are not thrilled to be matched to an omega like the heroine and don't even believe she's their mate. While they do get married as tradition dictates, none of the three give up other women, as the heroine discovers on their wedding night. She instantly flees and leaves them with the terrible realisation that she is indeed their true mate.

Now, if you know anything about my reading habits, you know that I typically don't touch cheating romances with a 20-foot bargepole. But Katie Landry is my exception. This is the penname of Kate Raven and Kate Rivenhall, whose books are characterised by not just good technical writing and decent characterisation but a wonderfully sly sense of humour. You get the feeling that as an author, she doesn't take herself too seriously, and it infuses her book with a real appeal - sort of like Cassandra Gannon's books, although those are very different content-wise. Overall, despite the subject matter, her books are actually not very angsty - more like 'frothy cheating' - which takes the sting away. This book in particular has some funny plot shenanigans that really elevates it compared to many other books I've read.

The other great thing about the Katie Landry penname is that it absolutely delivers on something I consider a non-negotiable in a cheating romance: the heroine also having sex with other men. Generally this takes place in front of the hero, and the results are delicious because you can really see how it puts them through the wringer. Realistic? No. Entertaining? Very. Her heroines also never forgive the hero too easily.

3 stars because I wish it were longer than a novella, so I've rounded down, but she's definitely become a must-read for me.

Well … I received an arc for this expecting an angst filled story … alpha cheating and grovelling 🫣. And I think the best way I can describe it as an omegaverse parody 🤷. And it was GOOD! 😊🤣.

Piper is an independent … and dare I say slightly trashy omega. She gets scent matched to these rich stuffy alphaholes … Rook, Erain, and Teddy. They treat her like crap, cheat on her, and are brought to heel by her scent.

What we get then is our girl dishing out some epic torture, and on the males part …. Crying , grovelling, howling, drooling … you name it 🤣🤣. They are brought low. And this is no easy forgiveness on Piper’s part. They have to earn it.

So to sum it up …It was great. So fun 🤩

Not a good one

To be honest I am disappointed I expected it to be good so it was a huge letdown. And it is NOT because of the cheating.

That being said I found absolutely no connection between Piper and the Alphas. As for the grovel the Alphas are pretty much acting like crybabies. I'm sorry I just done see Alphas that was and as for Piper come on it dragged and it repeats over and over Nah or I can't forgive you or blah blah.

Is Knot Excused meant to be a parody? That would impact my rating and raise it. As it stands I think two stars is generous. There couldn't have been any editing. The inconsistencies in tense, incorrect punctuation, and missing words made this rough to get through.

Sadly it read like a first draft with the plot as well. Very rough draft scenes with no emotional depth. Almost a humorous take on cheating and infidelity that might work for some but I come to omegaverse for sweet relationships and genuine connections.

I agree with the review that mentions it reads like the author has no understanding of OV. You can make your own rules but those have to make sense within what readers expect.

This is a short standalone story about fated mates cheating on their omega on their wedding night. Readers should know this before jumping into this. It's written on the cover, blurb, and in the first pages of the book. If there's a silver lining (???) it's a quick few pages and from Piper's POV.

I hesitantly read this because I wanted to know why they did it and what happens in the aftermath of their betrayal. Does it break Piper? Or does she ruthless take revenge on them? The answer to many hoping, is the latter. So through a hundred pages or so she exacts revenge while they continue to apologize and grovel.

Characters: ⭐⭐ of 5

The story is built for you to sympathize with Piper. She's the rejected omega and we want her to get payback. At first I was glad she had a backbone and would not submit to their initial rounds of groveling. But after awhile, it became grating. In fact all the characters were really one-note. The pack, Rook, Erain, and Teddy do not differentiate from each other. And quite frankly are pitiful and unlikeable. There's a lot of words and not enough action from them. In the end, the characters, including Piper, aren't likeable. The pack in the beginning are the villains but it feels that she takes on that role for the remainder of the book. I'm all for gleefully scorned FMC to seek retribution but her some of her actions didn't help keep me on her side.

Rook is the pack leader and after his cheating night he does a 180. He's completely regretful and upon scenting Piper, he's despondent. Erain doesn't think it's a big deal. Teddy believes she needs to forgive them cause she's their mate. Their excuses to her are a bit flimsy as well. What bugs me is only after the night and when they scent her is when they really truly understand what they did. It doesn't quite work. The pack and Piper didn't have any real conversations before they married.

Worldbuilding ⭐ of 5

Entire plot is centered on this pack. The pack is pressured from society to take a mate that would help them further their career or future.

Plot: ⭐⭐ of 5

Honestly I was hoping for more depth. The grovel is repetitive as they basically chase her everywhere to apologize. At every juncture, she has a method of revenge against them. Then suddenly she decides to forgive them. There's no eventual change in her thought process. At least it's not on page.

I'm giving this a ⭐⭐⭐ of 5. I wanted an angsty betrayal, satisfying revenge, and some emotional depth with the characters. I found some of it but left wanting more from the story.

Tropes:

-Cheating (by Pack and by FMC)
-MFMM
-Fated\rejected mates
-Revenge
-Other women drama
-Spice 🌶️🌶️ of 5

I’m probably going to be the minority here by saying I don’t feel this is cheating. It’s an arranged marriage. Based on biological factors they were all forced together and rushed into marriage because of it. The problem stemmed from not one of them believing their own bases of their society. So they each sabotaged the union for different reasons in their own ways.

Two of the guys not wanting an omega that was not the classical stereotype. The third guy because he wasn’t done sowing his oats. And the FMC because she was afraid of rejection so she did everything she could at the meet and greet to give a bad impression.

All of them did this to their union. All of them are wrong.

That’s the problem I had with the book. The FMC made the MMC’s become less than people in her quest for retribution, which made them extremely unappealing to the reader. Their biology took away their dignity and agency, so it really wasn’t because they wanted her as a person. It was a choice made from a survival instinct. While the MMC’s eventually did make a choice to sacrifice themselves in the end, it was still biology that drove them all together.

As for the FMC, I don’t feel like she apologized for her part in this mess of a story. She purposely made herself vulgar and unappealing to the MMC’s from get go and while she didn’t deserve any of their prejudices and disrespect, or their consequent unfaithfulness after making their vows, it was still disappointing that she didn’t accept her part in all of it.

I don’t like stories where the grovel is a debasement and not a true redemption of character. That’s all this author writes for her “cheaters”. And since I don’t feel like it’s cheating since none of them were really together, no matter that the vows were indeed spoken. It could have been a better book had it been longer or if the author had more in her repertoire than making their MMC’s snivel as a form of growth. Smh.

***NOTE***

Again, I want to remind anyone reading my reviews that this is my opinion. I can’t seem to stay away from this author even though I already know she is clearly NOT for me. The reason is that her stories are short so they get to the point right from the first page AND because I have been having attention issues so reading longer, better quality books has been a struggle for me lately. So this author’s knack for entertaining even with a failure of execution, is still better than not reading anything at all for me right now. Give her a shot if you want and make your own opinions. Good luck.

If I could do half stars this would be .5

Piper the very first chapter: I don’t want to be scent matched, I’m better than all these omegas, im soooooo different and not like them, I just wanna go home.

Also piper when her scent matched alphas show no interest in her and don’t want to be matched: shocked pikachu and mad about it.

Lmao I hate her. Definitely one of the very few times where I’m team the alphas deserved a better omega.

~ cheating by all parties
~ novella
~ campy

This novella needs to be read with the understanding it was written as an over the top campy story. The blurb should say this, but the author has stated it in FB groups. The characters are deliberately stereotyped, one note with overly dramatic groveling. There’s even a wizard cat painting. It’s supposed to be funny.

Unfortunately I sympathized with the guy’s because who wants a mate who did everything to make herself unappealing (covered her scent, wore sweats and popped gum) and then expected them to be overjoyed? She never accepted her part in the disastrous meeting. Of course that’s no reason to cheat on the wedding night and I LOVED the way she got back at them. Very well deserved. In the end biology wins bc you know - omegaverse.

This felt like reading a guilty pleasure, and I don't really know how to explain that... lol

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Piper put these men through their paces. They wanted to play dumb games, so they were definitely deserving of dumb prizes. I was proud of her for holding out until she felt their remorse was genuine.

A small, personal pet peeve that bugs me when reading: the frequent back and forth of verb tenses was distracting. But I'd love more stories with the fmc holding out until she was satisfied with the grovel she was due.

This book took me a minute to get into it but once I did wow I was spitting mad I wanted to reach through my kindle and strangle a few dumb men lol but as per Katie Landry signature style of cheating romance I was deeply satisfied with the grovel. I laughed myself to tears through Pipers story I loved her personality her confidence was charming she was a very special character I hope those 3 alphas can take care of her. I’m going to give this one 4 stars and a must read !

Another Katie Landry book that I loved. This was my first omegaverse so that part was totally new to me as I'm usually a contemporary or dark romance girlie. But anything Katie writes I will read. In typical Katie, there is not a ton of world building or award winning writing it's all about the betrayal and grovel. So if you're looking for the world building then this won't be a book for you. BUT if you are here for the grovel and betrayal then you will love this. One thing I love about Katie is she always gives you a great gut punch and she even snuck in some revenge. I cannot say enough great things about this author and I loved the story.

I pre-ordered this book, because I was so excited about it. I feel cheated. And not because this is a cheating trope book.

The mfc was unlikable from the get-go. Usually, even a brash mfc has some sort of vulnerability or soft spot that makes you root for her, but I didn't feel that with this mfc. She absolutely did not want the mmcs and upon meeting her, the feeling was mutual.

I love a well-done hurt/grovel story. However, the characters weren't fleshed out well enough to give any sort of depth or have the reader feel any connection to them or their story.

The story felt absolutely rushed through, and I kept finding myself saying "wtf" to how quickly it moves without the story feeling solidly told. I don't know how else to say that. I also don't think the author fully grasps the "omegaverse" trope, so for an avid omegaverse reader it will probably take you out of the story when you hit those parts.
Overall, this book was a total miss and let down. I'm super bummed, I was so excited to read it.

Story: COULD be 5 stars!

Cheating is usually my only no-no in the books I read. I have no triggers, but cheating is something I won't read about if I can help it.

However, considering this is both in the description of the book AND in the title, it's pretty obvious that it's something that happens in "Knot Excused." I was also briefly chatting with the author in a Facebook group about how she plans on making the Alphas who cheat pay, so I was intrigued! Knowing ahead of time what was going to happen and that things wouldn't be easy for them after, I definitely had to give this book a shot.

Piper didn't have much interest in finding a pack. Since she was a registered Omega, however, she had to go to the scent match ceremony where Alphas could smell a paper that had the scent of the omegas on them, and discover if their fated mate was there. Sure enough, Piper was matched with some arrogant, famous, well-off Alphas who immediately turned their nose down at her when seeing her for the first time. They refused to get to know her, controlled all aspects of their wedding, and on the wedding night, decided to have one more go with women who were NOT Piper. Unfortunately for them, she caught them all unknowingly in the act. When they finally went back to her room, they got a smell of her true scent and realized she was indeed their fated mate and decided they had to have her.

Piper, on the other hand, felt no such thing. The men begged and pleaded for her to give them another shot, and she didn't. She even made their lives difficult by messing with anything they had previously thought important.

This book absolutely has the groveling that so many of us wish for more of in other books. The FMC is no pushover and certainly makes the men work HARD to get back into her good graces.

This book could really use an editor to go over it one more time. The punctuation is not great. A couple of words were not needed in sentences. However, the story was written well enough, and I actually liked the characters in the book (at least by the end). Even the FMC wasn't too catty to the other women unless they did something directly to her. She was seriously a great character in this book.

Honestly? I recommend this book if you're looking for some betrayal. I was able to read it in a couple of hours, so it's a good palate cleanser, if nothing else.

There is a line between a good grovel and an H that is totally pathetic. This novella took a running leap, pole vaulted across that line and landed so far past the line that it couldn’t even see the line anymore. 🙄🙄🙄

He knows that Piper's their fated mate, but could they have gotten a more embarrassing Omega? Let's just have one last night of fun. No one will ever have to know...

Piper is an Omega that comes from the wrong side of the tracks, but on her Selection Day, she somehow matches with the hottest Alpha Pack in town. At that moment, it looks like all of Piper's dreams have come true. There's just one problem...Piper's pack doesn't want her. Rook who's a powerful politician believes Piper's not a good look for his image, Erain, who's a snobby aristocrat sees her as too trashy, Football superstar Teddy just doesn't want to settle down, not now, not ever.

Piper ends up being left alone on her wedding night, it's then that she realizes that her Alphas have betrayed her. She ends up angry and perfuming in her bridal suite and just runs away. Rook, Erain, and Teddy soon learn that she's gone and then they get a whiff of her and it drives them insane with a need for her, and it's an urgent need.

They soon learn that finding Piper isn't going to be as easy as they thought and Piper doesn't find their need to knot her all that convincing...

Author's Note: This romance contains on-page cheating between the MMCs and OW and a very high level of 'writhing in agony' groveling and sad and pitiful begging. It also has knotting, biting, heats, and a HEA with a cheating Alphas.

Knot Excused is An Omegaverse Cheating Romance by Katie Landry and I am going to say off the bat that I found this to be very campy and having read the author's Facebook posts that's what she was going for, I am not going to dock her stars for that. I will also admit that this is the first Katie Landry novel that I've ever read so I didn't know what to expect, so I am kind of glad that I read her note on Facebook because if I didn't know that this was supposed to be a campy novel, then I would have seriously really docked stars.

I will say that I found this book to be hilarious. I don't think that I have laughed so much through another reverse harem omegaverse as much as I did this one. And I have been going through some hard stuff lately so getting a book where I had so much laughter through it, that was such a nice blessing.

I will tell you that you shouldn't go into this book expecting a romance with a story full of angst, where love has been betrayed, your FMC has been treated like a doormat that forgives the MMC cheaters without any retaliation because you are not going to find that here.

But, at the same time, you don't have to expect something that is all serious and boring and feels just like real life because you're not going to find any of that either.

Knot Excused is just campy fun.

I could do nothing but laugh all the time and I wasn't mad about anything about anything that happened in this book.

Our FMC is our Omega who's been chosen for three Alphas as their fated mates, sight unseen, just based on her scent.

When they finally meet face to face, they realize that she's not what they had expected her to be. She's far from petite, delicate, sweet, or elegant as most Omegas normally are. This Omega is tall, bold, with sweaters and pink and blue extensions, chews bubble gum, smokes, wears a lot of perfume to hide her natural scent, and worst of all to these Alphas, she's from the wrong side of the tracks.

These Alphas have absolutely no attraction to her whatsoever, so after the wedding, on their wedding night (not that they care about that too much) the three Alphas go out to have one last night of fun with each of their preferred women.

She sees them, listens to all of them say what they really think of her, and it's less than nice. Suddenly she lets her natural scent free, and she knows that when they actually scent her, they are going to go insane, and then she ups and leaves herself.

It's just like she expected, as soon as they scent her natural scent after they had their last night of fun with their chosen women, they go insane, and then they realize that she's gone. So, they head out and start to hunt her, following her, and they are freaking out because they think that she doesn't want them at this point.

I found this to be absolutely off-the-charts hilarious because our FMC didn't like these three morons from the get-go, even though she couldn't get out of marrying them. She was willing to accept them, but she wasn't going to like them, especially after she heard what they thought of her. The only thing they had hurt was her pride. She didn't feel any kind of love towards them and like them, she didn't feel any kind of attraction towards them.

She started taking suppressants to stop her heat, this helped especially while these three so-called Alphas were acting like wild animals, and this again just kept me laughing over and over again. So, like the Alphas, our FMC cheats on them with another male, and when the Alphas see her, they start to howl in absolute agony because they think they are all so important. And to me, this was just satisfying. I loved seeing our FMC give just as good as she got.

Finally, our three Alphas decided to change their tactics and they take the time to actually get to know their fated mate and they slowly started to fall in love with their brash, outspoken, brave, and at times quite selfish and self-absorbed mate.

I liked our FMC. I know she's got a lot of poor qualities like being selfish, and self-centred, but she's also brave and intelligent, and strong. And soon we find that our three Alphas are changing their actions for her and I actually liked that for once. Even though she doesn't change a lot for them.

I love how our Alphas learned how to understand our FMC and realize that she's the perfect woman for each of them and there's a reason that there's a reason she was their chosen fated mate. Really, in the end, I could see how it ended well and there were no hard or hurt feelings. And honestly, this book was nothing more than just a campy comedy that wasn't supposed to have any depth.

I really could appreciate this book because it wasn't supposed to have any depth and there's not supposed to be anything serious about it. And it's not till the end that our FMC finds any love with her Alphas even though they had fallen in love long before that. And yes, they admit they regretted their actions on their wedding night.

If you are looking for a campy, hilarious, entertaining, light read that has absolutely nothing serious to it, then this is the book for you. This is not literature, so don't expect it to be anything great.

Look, the idea behind it was a good one, but that's about all.

Piper was the most insufferable character I've read in a long while. Like I understand the whole "woman scorned" thing but then there's acting like a big petulant baby, which she did in spades. She was also unlikeable even before she found out they cheated, so that just makes the pettiness from her being scorned a horrendous character trait in general rather than reactionary towards their actions. Plus, the way in which the author describes her as wearing big hoop earrings, sweatpants, and high heels... sounds pretty trashy circa 2010s to me, so the offense Piper takes from them not being interested in her is crazy. Also, the fact that those whole thing dragged out to where she didn't accept them until the very last chapter is the most annoying thing. Just perpetuates how insufferable Piper is.

The omegaverse aspect within this was also quite weak. Like it didn't really have much merit to it at all. This book could remove all mention of alphas, omegas, and betas and it would literally change nothing within the plot at all. The was barely even a shifter romance, but that at least had more merit than the omegaverse aspect.

I know my safety friends here will have a conniption because I’m rating three stars this one but it was too hilarious. It’s also a reverse harem because the heroine has three mates.
You don’t have to expect a romance, a story with angst, love betrayed, doormat heroine that forgives the cheater without retaliation because you won’t find one.
But you don’t even have to expect something serious and boring, or something with similarities to real life because there’s none.
This one is just for fun, LMFAO, nonsense paranormal comedy.
I laughed all the time and was not angry at everything that happened here.
Heroine is an omega that has been selected by three alpha as their fated mate based on the smell of a card, yes, without even meeting her.
So when they meet her she’s not what they expected her to be, she’s not petite, delicate, sweet and elegant as usually omegas are, she’s tall, bold, with sweaters and pink and blue extensions, and she chews a bubble gum while smoking cigarettes. And she wears a lot of perfume to hide her natural scent.
They are not attracted to her at all, and after the wedding, on their wedding night they decide to have one last hurrah with their favorite females.
She sees them all even listening to the less than nice things they have to say about her.
She lets her scent free so they will go mad when they come back, and she leaves.
As expected, as soon as they smells her, after their night with other women, they really go ott, and when they find out she’s gone, they follows her and starts panicking because she doesn’t want them anymore.
So, it was hilarious and funny because the heroine didn’t like those three idiots since the start, but she couldn’t avoid the marriage. She would have accepted the, but she didn’t like none of them. So she was not hurt in her feelings except her pride. She didn’t love them and wasn’t even a bit attracted to them. She took suppressants to avoid the heat, while the three alphas were really behaving like crazy beasts which made me laugh over and over again. She also cheats on them with another male, and they all see her, howling in agony because they are impotent. So satisfying.
Then they decide to get to know her, and they all fall in love with her brash, outspoken, brave and quite selfish and self absorbed personality.
I know many didn’t like the heroine but I liked her a lot, she’s selfish, self centered, and it’s them who will change their ways for her and not the opposite, which for once is ok.
She doesn’t change at all, so they will have to adapt for her.
They learn to appreciate her and understand she’s just the right woman for them.
So in the end all is well, and no feelings were harmed because let’s be honest, this book is a total comedy without much depth.
This is why I could appreciate it, because it’s not serious, and it’s not meant to be, and because the heroine is not in love with them until the end, while they fall in love with her long before and regret their actions.
The cheating, well,is there. But it didn’t bother me a lot, after all it was an arranged marriage, she disguised her scent which prevented the males from being attracted to her so it’s not as if there was some love between them and she didn’t like them more than they liked her. But at least she didn’t want to cheat, while they foolishly did. So she left and cheated on them.
Which I loved so they had a taste of their own medicine, and she even kissed other males afterwards, just to spite her alphas.
Was the love believable? Well, I don’t think this is the point of the book, I don’t think they would have ever considered her twice if she hadn’t been their fated mate, but in time they learned to know her and I loved that she was quite the bitch, for once we don’t have a heroine that changes and blames herself and thinks she’s wrong, this one loves herself and doesn’t think they are good enough for her, so they were the ones to change their ways. For her.
So, if you’re looking for a really funny, light, entertaining reading, without anything serious, this is for you. Not great literature, but I didn’t expect it either. Some scenes will remain with me because they were really crazy funny.

If you read second chance/ cheating stories and think to yourself, "I wish the heroine would have some revenge sex," then have I got a story for you!

This story was very tongue-in-cheek and you should think of it as kind of fun and non-serious, even though it deals with a serious topic of cheating.

This is a world of scent matched packs. Except it's the Alphas who look through all the different scent cards.

Piper is a 25-year-old, unmated omega, so now she's required to submit a scent card for possible matching. But she doesn't want anything to do with Alphas.

She gets matched with Pack Skystone, a powerful and well-connected pack. The prime Alpha of this pack is a politician.

Piper went to this matching ceremony hoping to hide her scent with perfume and cigarettes, and not be chosen. The scent card still made the guys react, because they chose her at the ceremony. She has no choice but to meet the Alphas once she is matched. They don't like what they see, or smell.

Rook, the prime Alpha and politician, is disappointed. He was already dating a "perfect" omega, Beatrice. Now he's just angry he had to break up with Beatrice for THIS.

Erain is grossed out by the cigarette smell & her ugly sweatpants when he meets her. He was also already dating someone, Cressida. He's also horrified that Piper is a country bumpkin.

Teddy is supposed to be the "golden retriever" of the pack. He's a well known athlete and women usually love him. He's been "dating," if you want to call it that, two Beta cheerleaders named Chloe and Zoey. He didn't want a mate because he enjoys the single life.

The law says that the scent match itself creates a legal obligation. So there's no way out of mating for any of them.

The wedding has to take place in one week. The guys pretty much ignore her before then.

They have the wedding ceremony. During the reception, the guys sneak off with their girlfriends for "one last time." They end up spending all night with the girlfriends. They know they're in trouble the next morning, and try to think up a lie to tell Piper.

What they don't know is that Piper went looking for them and actually saw them all cheating, so lying wouldn't do any good anyway.

When the guys get back to Piper's room, they smell her real perfume and instantly feel the instinct to bond. So now we have an issue. They don't like her looks or personality, they weren't willing to get to know her, but now instinct is making them want to be with her. She knows that it's just instinct, and she's not happy about it.

She runs off into the woods to a safe house where Omegas can hide from Alphas. They track her to the safe house but can't get in, because it has a silver fence around it.

She's there with her ex-fuck-buddy, a Beta named Mario, and she has revenge sex with Mario, and all the guys have to watch through the open window. The guys eventually manage to break through the fence and kidnap Piper back to their place.

But Piper isn't impressed that they are only groveling because of their instinct. She says it must have been a mistake, y'all should go back to your girlfriends, etc. She even sets up a meeting with all the guys, their girlfriends, and another Alpha named Benjamin. She wants the girlfriends to seduce the guys so they will leave her alone. (Benjamin is there for her make out with, etc., during this meeting, for more revenge.)

After this, for some reason she does spend some time with the guys getting to know them. So they actually do have a reason to like her, not just instinct.

Basically this is a fun story of "weak, needy, and desperate alphas" and their "uninterested omega."

(They are shifters, but shifting isn't a big part of the story.)

This was a fun read. Was it great in terms of creativity or emotional depth or complex world building? Not in the slightest. But it was fun, sassy and light and just what I needed. Yes, it wasn't very 'grovelling' in the traditional or emotionally mature way, but something about three fully grown alphas on their knees crying for their omega's love has the inner sadist in me cackling. No, the characters weren't very fleshed out or that 'realistic', but considering the book is a short standalone (almost novella worthy), I don't think they needed to be. Technically, the book was a bit of a mess, but I could look past it for the antics and sheer humour going on in its pages. I loved that Piper wasn't a pushover omega and didn't fall for the classic body betrayal syndrome and immediately forgive them because they were 'so hot' and 'so smelly'. Yes, I think some of what she did was uncalled for, mean and childish, but I was here for it anyways. I don't think this book was ever intended to be a serious deep dive into cheating and the broken male psyche, but damn was it fun nonetheless. It could have done with a bit more fleshing out (especially in terms of world building and shifter dynamics), as we were thrown into the plot straight away and then it was like fireworks were going off until it ended, but again, that probably wasn't its purpose to serve. I did enjoy how the men realised that how they acted was a product of their environment and who they used to be as people and how readily and willingly they would change that for her now- Erain losing his snobbish aristocracy and Rook leaving behind his politician career. I love it when alphas lives are changed so thoroughly that nothing else matters to them- money, status, power- just their omega. I do wish there had been a few more spicy moments- maybe some more you can look but can't touch or a kiss for Teddy before the game just to really mess with him. Big props to Otis for being the best wing man/ secondary executor ever too. I think it also could have benefitted from making the alphas still completely unhinged by rejection, but maybe a little more 'personally' in a way that shows that they're all different but united as one rather than just the three mindless, drooling stooges. Piper could have used a spruce up too, because while I'm all for the 'not like those stuck up academy omegas', she was portrayed as the 'white trash' a little too much for my liking, and it would have been great to see her more in here element and doing things she loved- plus how fun would a chase through the woods have been half naked and horny? Overall, it wasn't great on any technical means but it was fun and I loved the change of pace- I'm sick of omega verse romances all being about these 'strong' alpha males and their 'docile' little toy omegas. 7/10.

The premise of this book intrigued me. I don’t typically reach for romances that involve cheating, but the idea of a strong female lead dishing out long-overdue payback had me hooked. And let’s be real: cheating is bad, but cheating on your wedding night and abandoning your new bride? That’s next-level unforgivable. So yes, I cheered when Piper walked out on her Alphas. It was bold, cathartic, and richly deserved. That said, perhaps she should’ve thought twice about dousing the bridal suite in her scent—because, as any reader of the Omegaverse knows, Alphas follow their d*cks first and their brains a distant second. Unsurprisingly, the lingering scent of Piper sent Rook, Erain, and Teddy into a frenzy. Here’s where the story lost some ground for me: while the Alphas say they want more than to mark and claim her, they seem to think of little else. Plus, their previous behavior, ranging from cold indifference to outright disdain, would appear to give lie to that claim. And when it comes to groveling? Crying, howling, and chest-beating don't count as meaningful redemption. A few tears and a half-hearted apology aren’t enough to undo such deep betrayal. Still, I loved watching Piper make their lives a living hell. She had every right to, and her vengeance was both satisfying and entertaining—until it started to feel a bit excessive. As much as I enjoy a good revenge arc, there’s a fine line between justice and dragging it out too long. And then, almost abruptly, Piper forgives them. No build-up, no slow emotional thaw—just a sudden pivot that felt as if it came out of the blue. I wanted to see some internal struggle, a hint of softening, something more than the imminence of her heat cycle pulling her back in. Despite my gripes, I don’t believe in branding people as forever cheaters—especially not in the Omegaverse, where fated mates and biological drives complicate everything. People mess up. Sometimes catastrophically. What matters is what they do when given a second chance. In the end, while the pacing faltered and the redemption arc felt shallow, I was still hoping for a happy end. Though Piper is a force to be reckoned with, I think the fact her Alphas were willing to sacrifice themselves for her, finally got the message through.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

DNF

I read this last month, and just want to get it marked, so I know not to revisit. This started out alright with the rejection with some drama (but I would NOT recommend it for safety readers) with Piper’s alpha’s continuing to screw their side chicks after being scent matched.

It wasn’t as angsty as it could’ve been because there weren’t any built in feelings or pull and Piper wanted nothing to do with them, but she was furious... like HULK SMASH.... when she caught them,

What followed started a pattern of…
Piper giving ZERO fucks that her mates betrayed her ➡️ no feels
Having no discussion, no development no real grovel ➡️ no feels

This felt familiar so I took a closer look and noticed the author. We just don’t fit because for me humiliating someone over and over isn’t groveling or satisfying. I found Piper immature. I want the person making amends, verbalizing their wrongdoing, apologizing, making changes, showing some growth… not crawling on their knees, or being booed during very important press conferences, and ruining his career. How does that show he’s sorry?

Bottom Line- DNF when I realized it was Katie because I’m not going to keep 2 ⭐ing her books. I don’t mind cheating, but I read it for angst and drama, and she delivers neither… I’m not entertained by degradation, so I get nothing out of it.

Summary: This is a paranormal romance.

Additional tropes:
✅ Omegaverse
✅ Why choose
✅ Cheating
✅ Other woman drama

Detailed spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.

The FMC is Piper. She’s an omega and would choose anything else if she could. Because she understands that being an omega means that she must participate in the scent match ceremony. When she arrives, she immediately notices that she does not look like any other omega in attendance, and she couldn’t care less.

When she is matched to the most prestigious pack, not only is she not happy with this news, but neither are they and they make it known. Instead of spending time with her before their wedding, they are off doing any and everything else. But she’s trying not to be bothered by their lack of attention and decides to make the most of the situation. On the night of their wedding, she finds all of her mates in a compromising position with others.

Shocked and hurt by the sight of this, after having gone through the wedding ceremony where they shared vows of being faithful and loyal, she decides to pull a runner. Leaving her scent behind, she enlists the help of a couple of new friends, and she escapes. When her mates wake up and realize they didn’t see the FMC at all on their wedding night of all nights, they go and seek her out only to find she is missing, but her scent is left behind which sends them into a frenzy and they vow to find her and bring her home.

When they finally find her, the FMC is intent on making them suffer in every single way that she possibly can. The MMC‘s are happy for her to do her absolute worst, because they simply cannot imagine life without her. Lots of grovel and hilarity ensues, and Piper is left to make a choice to continue their humiliation or to forgive them and see where their happiness can lead.

⚠️SPOILERS/SPICE/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️

🌶️: 2.5/5

Final thoughts: I’ve said this before and I will say it again, Katie Landry books are not for everyone, but they are for me. I love this.

It was a fun and entertaining read. I loved Piper. She stood her ground, she didn’t let anyone walk over her, and she stayed her true authentic self the entire book. I loved that the MMC‘s had to change their entire perspective after catching her scent and that it sent them into such a state, that they allowed her to do all that she did to them. And they just kept coming back for more, which honestly provided so many laugh out loud moments.

I would’ve loved to have seen a little more other woman drama. But that’s just my personal preference. Overall, I loved it and I will continue to read all of her books because I just enjoy them and her nonsensical approach.

A.R.C. recieved & this is my HONEST review.

I don’t know where to get started. This book was practically perfect, I just wished it was a tad bit longer. The ch3ating scenes were not as emotionally packed as I wanted [I love getting my heart ripped out], but it did the job. The sliver of hope crushed by arrogant MMC’s was maddening, but in a good way. The FMC took no sh!+ and stood her ground. I was BEYONG ECSTATIC of a FMC not cowering, bending, or shrinking herself once involved. Her revenge scene in the Omega refuge… YES. Grovel was a bit melodramatic, if the book was longer I’m sure it’d be better but FMC really made them choose her. Showing them a different side of her personality besides her Omega smell.

Piper
She was great. She knew what she wanted, held strong on her morals/ethics and cursed the mate bond once betrayed. She raised h311 for all 3 Alpha’s as a mistake for ch3ating on her. And her revenge is what box offices wish for. If the book as longer, I would have wanted a bit more detailed scenes on her on the run. But I’m just joyous the author gave us a FMC with a backbone.

Rook
I can appreciate a silent broody type just as good as the next, but I wish we got a little bit more from him. More emotion, forgiveness, grovel, something. I felt like he just kept throwing money at the problem. While I know this is untrue, I didn’t glimpse into his personality the same as the other two. And his career after the fact didn’t match for me. [Little more explanation]

Efrain
Complete, and utter id!0ot. We got more background on him, his aristocrat upbringing so I was more understanding that I was to Rook but he just couldn’t find his footing. Made him look like one of the 3 stooges with how he kept putting his foot in his mouth.

Teddy
I felt no charm about him, but he was the puppy out of them all. Very immature at first, but was the first to flay himself open for Penny. He helped set the standard for the other two in forgiveness.
