Comme dans la plupart de ses récits, Ismaïl Kadaré (né en 1936) transfigure la réalité albanaise par l'allégorie et la métaphore politiques.

Ismail Kadare (also spelled Kadaré) was an Albanian novelist and poet. He has been a leading literary figure in Albania since the 1960s. He focused on short stories until the publication of his first novel, The General of the Dead Army. In 1996 he became a lifetime member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences of France. In 1992, he was awarded the Prix mondial Cino Del Duca; in 2005, he won the inaugural Man Booker International Prize, in 2009 the Prince of Asturias Award of Arts, and in 2015 the Jerusalem Prize. He has divided his time between Albania and France since 1990. Kadare has been mentioned as a possible recipient for the Nobel Prize in Literature several times. His works have been published in about 30 languages.

Ismail Kadare was born in 1936 in Gjirokastër, in the south of Albania. His education included studies at the University of Tirana and then the Gorky Institute for World Literature in Moscow, a training school for writers and critics.

In 1960 Kadare returned to Albania after the country broke ties with the Soviet Union, and he became a journalist and published his first poems.

His first novel, The General of the Dead Army, sprang from a short story, and its success established his name in Albania and enabled Kadare to become a full-time writer.

Kadare's novels draw on Balkan history and legends. They are obliquely ironic as a result of trying to withstand political scrutiny. Among his best known books are Chronicle in Stone (1977), Broken April (1978), and The Concert (1988), considered the best novel of the year 1991 by the French literary magazine Lire.

In 1990, Kadare claimed political asylum in France, issuing statements in favour of democratisation. During the ordeal, he stated that "dictatorship and authentic literature are incompatible. The writer is the natural enemy of dictatorship."

عقاب اسماعیل کاداره با یک ماجرای غیرعادی و در موقعیتی عادی شروع می شود، و به شکلی پیش می‌رود که طرح داستانی رمان های پلیسی_معمایی کلاسیک را یادآوری می کند.
مرد جوانی که کارآموزی  تازه کار در بانک شهر است، برای خرید سیگار از خانه بیرون می رود اما ناگهان به درون چاهی در پیاده رو سقوط می کند و پس از سقوطی طولانی، بر روی چمن شهری که نمی شناسد، با آدم های غریبه، بیدار می شود....
اما با پیشروی داستان، خواننده متوجه می شود که هیچ چیز این داستان ربطی به معما و جنایت ندارد و همه عناصر نمادهایی سیاسی، تاریخی هستند که اسماعیل کاداره از آنها بهره گرفته تا داستان تلخ و آشنای زندگی تحت حاکمیت دیکتاتوری را روایت کند. از سقوط و مه گرفته تا کافه ای به نام آزادی و حیوانات رها شده در تنها باغ وحش شهر....
و سرانجام تراژیک، طعنه آمیز و پوچ قهرمان داستان، شاید همان سرنوشت مشترک تمام انسان هایی باشد که برعلیه نظم ساختگی عصیان می کنند و زنجیر را برنمی‌تابند.

می پرسی چطور این جا می افتند و از کجا می افتند؟ به عنوان فردی که سقوط کرده باید در جایگاهی باشی که این مطلب را بدانی! آن جا در پایتخت آدم هایی هستند که دست به حماقت هایی می زنند و بعد می پرسند چه بلایی سرشان آمده است، چرا و چطور اخراج شان کرده‌اند. همهمسیرِ سقوط را می دانند: از بالا به پایین، و نه برعکس. هر چیزی که بیفتد، از بالا می آید. فقط ارواحِ مردگانند که بالا می روند...

عقاب که خود نمادی از آزادی و اقتدار است در کتاب، در باغ وحشی در شهری که مقصد تبعید شدگان (سقوط کنندگان) سیاسی و اجتماعیست در قفس برای بازدید کنندگان و سران کشور قرار گرفته. سقوط کنندگانی که خود دلیل افتادن خود را نمیدانند و در پی یاداوری گذشته برای یافتن دلیل، ولی دلیل محکمی به دست نمی آید. همیشه تبعید اینچنین بوده. حتی در این مکان نوشته ها وارونه خوانده می شوند و همه چیز غیر از روال معمول مکانهای دیگر است.

به نام او

اولین کتابی که از کاداره خواندم کتاب تکان‌دهنده‌ای بود از آن دست کتابهای کم حجمی که یک دنیا سخن در پشت تک تک سطرهاشه
باز هم از کاداره و دنیای درهم تنیده با اساطیرش خواهم خواند و از همین حالا حدس میزنم یک نویسنده دیگر به نویسندگان محبوبم اضافه شد

فرد اوایلش با حسرت به این فکر می‌کند که به بالا برگردد. ذهنش جز به این مسئله به چیز دیگری معطوف نمی‌شود. بعد، کم کم این جا هم زنده بودن خوشی‌هایی دارد. کوچکند، بله، ولی به هر حال خوشی‌اند. بعدا به خودش می‌قبولاند که ابتدایی‌ترین شادی‌ها و غم‌ها می‌توانند آدم را به اندازه‌ی پیچیده‌ترین‌شان تحت تأثیر قرار دهند.

چند سال بود اسم کاداره را شنیده بودم ولی هیچوقت کتابی از او نخوانده بودم. عقاب را اتفاقی دیدم.
ایده کتاب در آغاز هوشمندانه و در پایان هنرمندانه بود.
هرچند می‌شود حدس زد که تلمیح و کنایه‌های زیادی در متن اصلی بوده که من نفهمیدم یا در ترجمه از بین رفته. تشویق شدم کارهایش را بیشتر بخوانم

در گذشته ، یک مجموعه‌هایی تلوزیون پخش می‌کرد که سرتاسر استعاره بودند و قابل فهم،این کتاب کوتاه دقیقا همانطور هست.

در جهانِ کاداره همه دچار یک نوع انسداد فکری هستند که در آن وطن منحصرا یک دارایی برای زندگی کردن است؛ یک دارایی که بعضی افراد هیچ سهمی از آن ندارند. تهدید این نوع انسداد فکری این است که همه مردمان می توانند نسبت به یکدیگر انسداد فکری داشته باشند و کسانی که از این انسداد فکری رضایت ندارند، محکوم به انزوا و سقوطند

در شهر خبری است. اگر ترسش از این نبود که شاگرد جوانش مسخره اش کند، بی شک این جمله را گفته بود: "سالهاست که همه در این خراب شده منتظر اتفاقی هستند، اما این اتفاق هرگز نمی افتد."

کتابی عجیب! با پایان بندی خیلی خوب!
انسانها سقوط میکنند و تبعید میشوند بدون اینکه بدانند. سقوطی از بالا به پایین به جایی که از آن بیرون آمدن رویایی بیش نیست..

I enjoyed the use of magical elements in this otherwise realistic novel. It adds much more depth to it. While the content is political there is no clear message or call to action which works in favour of showing the feeling of entrapment in a dictatorial state.
At times this was a bit boring though and it could’ve done a lot more with the foundation that was made early on

عقاب ِ اسماعیل کاداره سرتاسر به نیش و کنایه ، تمثیل های سیاسی ، شکافتن مسائل اجتماعی ؛ آغشته شده .
زیباترین قسمت کتاب ارتباط مکس و انآ از نظر من هست ، همین تفاوت آنا و انآ تاثیر شگفتی روی داستان گذاشته ، در آن هیاهو و جدال مکس با خودش که جفت آنا و انآ یکسان بودند یا نه، یکی از آنها برای عالم معناست و دیگری متعلق به عالم ماده است یا نه ، بسیار خواندی بود

Nje xhevahir i vogel qe lexohet ne me pak se dy ore. Sikur vetem kete liber te kishte shkruar Kadare ne tere karrieren e tij, duhet ta kishte marre Nobel-in. Gjenial

Terzo incontro con lo scrittore albanese: stavolta ho provato un racconto lungo (del romanzo non ha il respiro, anche se l’edizione Longanesi lo indica come tale in copertina), piuttosto interessante, di piacevole lettura e dal fortissimo sapore kafkiano.

Maks ha 22 anni, vive con la madre e i fratelli e lavora presso la Banca centrale (chiaramente siamo in Albania, ma Kadaré identifica il paese solamente per mezzo del simbolo dell’aquila bicipite). Nel giro di due pagine, esce di casa per comprare le sigarette e cade in una profonda voragine metafisica: si ritrova così in un altro luogo, ancora su suolo albanese, ma in una cittadina in cui vengono confinati coloro che diventano sgraditi al regime. Inizialmente sorpreso, Maks individua subito la colpa di cui si è macchiato (una colpa per difetto, per “poco di vigore” nel dimostrare la fedeltà al regime, direbbe Dante), ma stenta ad abituarsi alla nuova situazione, soprattutto a causa dell’impossibilità di comunicare con l’esterno. Maks e gli altri confinati si trovano letteralmente in una buca di potenziale dalla quale non possono uscire. A complicare le cose, il rapporto ambiguo e talvolta conflittuale con il barista del Bar della Libertà e l’incontro con una donna, annA, specchio dell’Anna che è la compagna di Maks nella sua vita precedente. Ma come fuggire dal confino? Come riscattarsi? Maks sembra identificare una via di fuga in una confusa mitologia che affonda le sue radici nella Grecia antica (Dedalo e Prometeo) e nella tradizione balcanica (il lago, l’aquila): il suo tentativo di fuga avrà tuttavia un esito tragico.

Kadaré rielabora non soltanto Kafka e la mitologia antica, ma anche le avventure di Alice (la caduta in una profonda buca, i nomi che si leggono allo specchio). Lo scopo è quello di costruire una realtà immaginosa e surreale che traduca in linguaggio letterario lo smarrimento provato dai confinati nella misteriosa cittadina: uomini e donne letteralmente (de)caduti, sospesi, immobilizzati in un limbo di inazione, la cui presenza infastidisce non poco gli abitanti originari. L’unica via di fuga a questa antirealtà sembra quella di sposare il mito, salendo sulla groppa di un’aquila, che tuttavia per trasportarti reclama un tributo di sangue: il sacrificio di parte del proprio sé, per ritornare tra i “vivi”. Ma quanto è lungo il viaggio? E di quanta carne ha bisogno l’aquila per raggiungere la destinazione?

Scritto in modo piano e semplice, il racconto si legge con rapidità e piacere. La rielaborazione della mitologia non è male, ma ho trovato più interessanti le parti dedicate al bizzarro giardino zoologico e alla sua storia nascostamente “politica” (il coccodrillo regalato dal Negus al regime albanese, le renne promesse dagli scandinavi). Dispiace un poco che il personaggio di annA sia soltanto abbozzato, perché Kadaré ha una certa perizia nel delineare personaggi femminili estremamente sensuali.

Consigliato a chi si guarda spesso allo specchio.

Sconsigliato ai rapaci.

Quando uno esce la sera per comprare le sigarette non si sa mai se si torna a casa oppure no perchè tutto può succedere. Può anche accadere di precipitare e di non sapere come fare a ritornare "lassù". Qesto è un romanzo strano e intrigante dove ancora no ho capito se il protagonista soffriva di allucinazioni o certe cose possono capitare davvero! E poi c'è l'aquila, simbolo nazionale albanese (come la terra dello scrittore) che da mito diventa disillusione. Insomma, un racconto strano ma piacevole alla lettura

Il mito dell’Aquila è al centro della ultima lettura dal titolo L’Aquila (Longanesi, 2007) dello scrittore albanese Ismail Kadare

In questo romanzo breve è il mito che fa da tramite al pensiero di Kadare, veicolando il dramma dell’individuo nel mondo totalitario. Il giovane Maks, in un giorno come tanti altri, precipita attraverso una buca in un mondo parallelo. Presto la vita in quel mondo, simbolo di prigionia fisica ed intellettuale, diventa pesante, l’aria per lui si fa irrespirabile.

L’unico modo per uscirne, dice la leggenda, è grazie all’aiuto di un’aquila, che in cambio di carne è disposta a portare gli uomini ovunque desiderino.

Nella mente di Maks, la realtà opprimente in cui si trova a vivere fa sempre più spazio a un desiderio febbrile e ossessivo di fuga. Per la libertà, il giovane si ritrova disposto a pagare all’aquila qualunque prezzo, anche quello della propria carne.

آدمها بی دلیل سقوط می کنند. در ذهنشون خودشونو مجرم میدونند و هر کار بی اهمیتی رو جرم تلقی می کنند. امیدوارند با این کار بخشیده بشند. ولی مکس دست به دامن افسانه شد. عقاب شاید توی داستان نماد کشور البانی یا بلند پروازی باشه که اون هم نمیتونه مکس سقوط کرده رو نجات بده برعکس مکس با توهم رهایی باعث مرگ خودش میشه.

Een magisch-realistisch kortverhaal dat je op een avond uitleest. Door een val komen mensen op onverklaarbare wijze in een afgelegen stad terecht, en beseffen dan dat ze aan de kant zijn geschoven. Hoe geraken ze weer op hun vroegere positie? Welke prijs moet je daarvoor betalen, en kun je dat misschien toch vermijden?

Disclosure:
I have got this Novel just temporally from the Library during a competition held for the Book lovers, I spend three days reading this French Political novel and blow was the outcome.

My Plot:
First of all, the story happens in Albania during the communist government period. Max the protagonist was getting out to get some cigarette, he met the Bar boss; and both they engaged in an obscure discourse of being in "the High" and how to get there. Max at this moment begin the process of intoxicating his mind, he was unsatisfied with several incidents that happens in his environment, especially the runaway of the serpent from the zoo and the death of the crocodile, these events happened during the reduction of government from the fund that was allowed for the zoo. One day Max was sitting in "the Bar of Liberty" and accidentally wrote in the Glass of the windows the name of his Fiancée Anna, at this moment a girl was passing by the road, and saw her name written in the reverse, she came in the Bar and they acquaint each other. During their intrigue Max was revealing to annA that they should go outside the country and flee for their life from the revolution that was coming. The girl annA was satisfied with her situation and she did not gave much attention to what he said. Max inspiration' to the Eagle was deep, so one day he get to the zoo, and ask the Zoo keeper about the Eagle's cage, he was shown the Eagle place but the Zoo keeper tell Max that the Eagle stay in hunger each day and that it is the last to eat after all animals. Max grab no attention to these recommendations. The day after Max feels a high temperature in his head, annA gave him some aspirin to calm down the temperature, but Max was eager to flee from this country, so the end was like this. Max went to the butcher to have some meat, he get some extra meet as a gift from the Butcher, and stole his big knife. Max was heading toward the Eagle's cage to feed him and to let the Eagle fly with him to the land where there is no darkness, in the morning the citizen of the city woke up with a horrible news, Max was killed by the Eagle, the latter gets out both his eyes, in response the Eagle was killed by Max too due to the sharpness of the Butcher's knife.

Positive and Negative Aspects:
The story events were the most entity that make the reader wonder about what's going on the story. The positive aspect in this work was that the events were interrelated, so it was hard for me to give simple plot to this work, Besides, the style used in this work were simple and understandable. Concerning the negative aspects, I would simply say that Kadaré attacked violently the Communism and all its aspects inside this work, he was trying to refer that Communism was the main horror that all Characters suffer from, in fact his imaginations were far fetching from reality, The writer in this work tried to implement the same method that George Orwell did in 1984. Most characters in "L'aigle" were suffering from horror of government and from the ghost of Communism, he was really trying to implement a bad image of Communism and Bureaucracy inside the Albanian state.

My Personal Reaction:
Reality is that I am not a fan of Politics at all, Politics for me is a dirty game. But by reviewing this Novel I am opposed to take part in it. First Kadaré choose the name "Eagle" as a title to his work, in fact the Eagle itself was the symbol of Albania, so speaking about this Eagle is mainly a comment to the state directly, Inside the story we hear that the Eagle was the last one to eat and that it was kept in hunger even since it is the symbol of that state. the End of the protagonist against the Eagle also was symbolic. so summing up all these aspects, we simply say that Kadaré was trying to depict an obscure image of Communism against the State of Eagles "Shqiperia", and that the death of the Protagonist was in fact a fight for freedom and dignity of Albanian self. Personally I use much effort to understand the meaning of this work but I really admit that the meaning was vague inside the story.

Recommendations:
This book is simply recommended to Albanian citizens first of all, and to the fans of Ismail Kadaré. I recommend readers of this work to focus on each single detail inside the story in order to accomplish the process of understanding this Political novel.

Etrange, intriguant, surréaliste, onirique, écrit dans une langue magnifique, voici quelques adjectifs pour décrire ce court roman, et l'oeuvre de Kadaré en général.

Comme d'habitude, il décrit une société totalitaire où chaque personne, chaque objet même peut être un ennemi ou un espion. Comme d'habitude, il le fait tellement bien que l'on se surprend à vouloir s'échapper (d'où ? Pourquoi ? On ne sait pas, mais fuir, fuir...).

J'ai particulièrement apprécié toute l'allégorie autour de l'aigle, symbole de l'Albanie.

Interesting short novel, that is set in dictatorial Albania. Although the political context is present, it is not the primary focus of the story. Instead the writer deals with existential themes, like the desire to break free from the cage of a dreary life. The story is a bit surreal, with elements of mythology taking a prominent place, especially the story of Icarus. In the end the struggle to break free proves to be futile and fatal, just like it was for Icarus.
