Tommy Morgan's life was turned upside down at the hands of his Alpha. Now, another one is claiming to be his mate. He's not ready to jump into a relationship with anyone, still suffering from nightmares due to the abuse he experienced. Instead, Tommy moves in with his brother, Declan, hoping for the space he needs to heal.
Pennaeth Alpha, Benjamin Taylor, has his hands full dealing with all the packs across Australia. When he finds his young mate battered and bloody, he knows Tommy is going to need time to recover and come to terms with everything. Ben is more than willing to give his mate anything he needs. Even if that means them living apart for now.
When passion finally ignites with unexpected consequences, Ben knows he'll do anything, fight anyone, to keep his mate safe.
Toni Griffin lives in Darwin, the smallest of Australia’s capital cities. Born and raised in the state she’s a Territorian through and through. Growing up Toni hated English with a passion (as her editors can probably attest to) and found her strength lies with numbers. Now, though, she loves escaping to the worlds she creates and hopes to continue to do so for many years to come. She’s a single mother of one and works full time. When she’s not writing you can just about guarantee that she will be reading one of the many MM authors she loves. Feel free to drop her a line at info@tonigriffin.net anytime.
I am unashamedly enjoying the hell out of this series.
This story picks up shortly after were Liam left off. The Atherton pack Alpha, Ben, knows Declan's baby brother Tommy is his mate, but Tommy is still struggling in the aftermath of being tortured by his previous asshole Alpha in book one and therefore isn't quite ready to embrace all that goes with being mated to a man like Ben.
Although we don't get to witness much of it on page, the two get to know each other slowly, over a period of months, as Tommy physically and emotionally heals from his trauma. But once Tommy decides to take back control over his life and move on, all bets are off, and Ben finds himself suddenly faced with a feisty and horny mate in need of claiming.
This was another fun addition to this series, featuring hurt-comfort elements that I gobbled right up. Not to mention the added bonus of a significant Mpreg story arc! Yep, I'm enjoying myself indeed.
DNF. Tommy was tortured and nearly killed. He spends 3 months holed up traumatized in his brother's house. Tommy had been attending college studying early childhood development before this - yep - a harlequin romance just attach a penis to the female MC. During this time his mate, Ben is there to support and comfort him. Tommy asks Ben to actually sleep with him to keep his nightmares at bay (no sex). A week later, little twink Tommy decides to instantly start living - has phone sex with big dominate Alpha Ben that afternoon, leaves the house to attend poker night with Ben and then goes back to Ben's house where he loses his virginity, gets the werewolf mating bite/mark, AND gets knocked up (yes -prego). I stopped reading in disgust at this point.

I just can’t get into this at the moment. I like the shifter idea, I love how Ben is patient with Tommy and I love how possessive they get, but I can’t “FEEL” it.
Maybe I’m just to into the deeper stuff at the moment. Gonna stop for now, because I’m not giving it a fair chance when I feel like this.
I have to say, I get a really big pain in the ass from books that make pregnant people seem pathetic and hopeless and that tipped the scales for me here as well. I like mpreg but I don’t like the “I’m dying and my hormones are so unstable” shit. Sorry guys.
Not even in a MF. You are NOT dying from morning sickness every single pregnant person survives it. Appologies. ;-)
The Atherton pack, as small as it is, located in a remote place in Australia, is quickly becoming one of my favorite packs. Liam, the beta, and Declan, a fugitive from another pack’s cruel alpha, have mated in book one, and this time it is Declan’s younger brother, Tommy, who needs to figure out how to relate to his mate, Ben, who is Atherton’s alpha as well as the Pennaeth Alpha of all of Australia. With Tommy almost beaten to death by his old alpha, the same one Declan ran from, Ben needs to be patient and give Tommy time to recover. Not an easy feat, but his ability to wait and support Tommy in is recovery made me admire Ben all the more. This is unquestionably a story about destined mates, but they both go about it with sensitivity and logic before they allow the underlying passion to bloom. And once it does? Oh boy!
Tommy has not had it easy. Almost beaten to death, now in a strange place, he is confronted with a powerful mate. And even though Tommy knows this man is different, both his instincts and his brother Declan tell him so, it takes a while for him to heal and to come out of his shell. Once he decides enough is enough, and refuses to live in fear any longer, he manages to take his fate into his own hands. Mostly. The one thing he had not counted on was the effects of being claimed by Ben during the new moon…
Ben is a busy man, but as soon as he finds his mate, and knows Tommy needs his help and support, he spends as much time as possible at the man’s side. He even moves into Declan’s house, where Tommy is staying for the time being. Taking care of Tommy after his almost nightly nightmares is all he can do in the beginning, but as Tommy gains self-confidence, that turns into more. And when the consequences of mating during the new moon become undeniable Ben turns into an even more considerate mate.
If you like werewolves who are able and willing to show their softer side, even if only around their mates, if two men who know they are destined for each other still need to take the time to know each other before they jump into bed, and if you’re looking for a cute, sweet read with many “hot moments”, then you will probably like this novella.

I liked the first book better than this one. There was something missing from this one and outside of the whole mate thing, there wasn't really much of a story. I will say that Ben calling Tommy "pup" all the time just got really annoying. Unless you like the insta-love/your my mate storyline, and pregnant male shifters, this book will not be for you.
Ben is about as hubba hubba as you can get. He sounds so amazingly hot. Tommy, who at first I was not sure about, actually really comes into himself here and you get a great redemption and healing story with a wonderful alpha who is a true leader. Loved it!
Adored this story! Ben is the epitome of Alpha male with a soft, gooey center he only shares with his mate. The pregnancy thing is interesting since I would assume (yes, I know) that all shifters are schooled in shifter lore and the fact that the men can get pregnant if they're mated and have sex on the full moon. I found the fact that Declan and Tommy had no clue about this a tad bit unrealistic. I still ran with it because I adored the book.

"Big Ben finds his Mate!" Would you consider the audio edition of Ben to be better than the print version? Haven't read it so I can't say, what I can say is I'm loving listening to these stories, Nick Flint is doing an amazing job bringing the characters to life.
What other book might you compare Ben to and why? The first book in this series. Same Pack, characters and narrator.
Have you listened to any of Nick Flint’s other performances before? How does this one compare? Yes, and this one was just as good.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? It was and I did!
Any additional comments? This book was a bit more intense than the first in the series. I liked the threat, though when it was finally dealt with, I thought it was a touch anti-climactic. I LOVED the way Ben was so gentle, a gentle giant really, with his mate... waiting until he was ready to complete their bond. So patient and yet, kind, loving and gentle with Tommy who has been through so much. One thing that bugged me, every time Ben said it I cringed a little, when he calls Tommy "Pup" still, I cannot wait to listen to the next book, Corey.
A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Audiobook Review:
Rating: 4 stars out of 5
I love this series, shifters, mates and male pregnancy, what could be better. Tommy’s life is thrown another wrench when he learns that his mate is an alpha, after the abuse he suffered at the hands of his previous alpha this isn’t wonderful news. Ben will do anything to keep his mate safe and happy, even if it means being apart, for now.
This story is told from both character’s points of view, so it is nice to get both of the characters feelings. Ben is perhaps one of the sweetest alpha’s I have seen and he has to keep that side hidden so much due to his responsibilities it is a relief when he can let his guard down around his mate and Tommy is honored to see the side of his mate that others don’t. What I love about most of Toni’s shifter stories is that they are not insta-love, both of the characters feel a connection to the other, but work to grow their relationship before claiming the other.
Nick Flint did a wonderful job narrating this story. I could connect with the characters through the voices and emotions he portrayed. Even though this is a book I have read it felt new to me listening to him tell it.
Cover art is nice and follows the pattern for the series.
This was a typical shifter story with typical MC's, the buff and powerful alpha with his distressed mate. The only thing that's different is the mpreg. The story could have been better if the conflict was not easily resolved. Sonja's stereotypical 2D character just appeared out of nowhere. As fast as she materialized, she was immediately eliminated... and then everything was peachy. There's nothing really special in the story and it left me somewhat unsatisfied. Although I love happy endings and I'm usually a sucker for stories like this, this did not click with me.
it was ok.. didn't like that as soon as they are mated that bamm there's a baby on the way. After the trauma Tommy went through there should be more together time. And while threatening e-mails give some drama, it falls flat with predictability and lack of imagination to me
Ben and Tommy have a slow burn romance, because Tommy is still learning to overcome his trauma. When they did get together, they let their emotions overrule logic so they did not consider the timing of coming together. But it was romantic.
A cute story, where patience is rewarded and love endures. The second installment of the Atherton Pack series was a continuation from #1 with Tommy and Alpha Ben. I really enjoyed the journey they took to getting to the point of appreciating one another. However, the little adventure that was thrust into the story was a bit contrived and not really necessary. Nick Flint did a good job narrated this story. Enjoyed reading/listening.
This one was a little better then the first. Mostly because it had Mpreg (sorry it's a weakness of mine). I did like how Ben did not push Tommy and waited until he was ready.
Again this series is short and quick reads. Very easy not a lot of depth, not much angst if any. Helpful in passing my hours of driving.
Tommy has been through so much but he is now ready to embrace his mate. Ben is a strong leader but so patience with Tommy. When faced with danger he is ready to do what ever it takes to keep his man safe.
Had potential, but just wasn't written well. It's so difficult to find really good (and really well written) MM shifter romance stories. Ben was a great character, so it's a shame the story just fell short.
