Maggie Martin’s plans to start a serene new life have been derailed. As the beleaguered mayor of Westbury, she’s at the epicenter of the town’s worsening financial crisis. I'm really getting into this, listening to the audiobook on my morning dog walk.

This picks up a few months after book one and really needs to be read in sequence. There's more about the town's finances and Maggie's love life and her family and if course the house but there's also a sub plot involving a romance between a couple from the old folks home.

I must admit I've never read a romance between a couple in their eighties before and it brought an, um, interesting dynamic to the plot, wondering if one or both of them would keel over if they got a bit amorous. (Thankfully, we don't have any dirty deets, I wouldn't have been able to cope with that before my breakfast.) I'm being mean, they're kind of sweet, bless. Oh and the narrator does an awesome old lady voice.

It ends on a cliffhanger with lots unresolved but it's all on ku so it's all good. Reading on...

Ms. Hinske continues the Rosemont series with Weaving the Strands. The story picks up where Coming to Rosemont leaves off. Newcomer Maggie Martin, a forensic accountant is the new mayor of Westbury. Again her life has changed with the responsibility of her position as mayor. As mayor she of a small town with financial problems. These financial issues affect pension fund for local government employees. They aren't too happy about it either. Good character development as well as plot development. Will definitely read the third book in the series when it is available.

Beautiful Romantic story

What can I say...I absolutely adored this book Hinske is one of the best romance authors and she hasn't disappointed in this beautifully written story.
Not is it a romance but it has an underlying story of deceit and corruption adding to the story line.
I can't wait to read the next in the Rosemont series

Second book in the Rosemont saga. I am so enjoying this series. It is a clean cozy mystery. The narrator is really easy to listen to.
It's important to read in order so you know the characters and one book ends and the next one begins.

Another sweet, tightly woven tale from this author. The plot is engaging, the characters are likeable, and the book made you want to know what was coming next. It was a sweet story with wonderful people in it and a totally fun read.

Too predictable

The first book was a good read. This one was way too predictable. I could see everything before it happened. Also unbelievable and some of the characters are poorly written.

Weaving the Strands: Rosemont Book 2 is by Barbara Hinske. This is the second in the Rosemont series and it is very good. It is well-written and the characters are very well-developed. The language Barbara uses is so vivid and sharp that you can easily imagine what Rosemont and the town look like. It is easy to read and can be easily read in a couple of hours.
Maggie Martin has become mayor of Westbury by having been voted in by a write-in campaign. She is immediately faced with a crisis. The previous mayor has been arrested for fraud and embezzlement and the pension fund is in danger of going under. Then, Fairview Terraces, the local retirement center, finds itself having to raise money for an increase in land lease money. This will certainly mean an increase in rent for the residents who are on fixed incomes. The City Council has thrown Maggie under the bus by rejecting a proposal to reduce expenses that they had said they were behind. Maggie is taking all the heat for things she had no part in making. She is determined to get to the bottom of things and have everyone involved prosecuted. Meanwhile, her job has caused complications in her romance with John Allen, the town vet. Things just seem to be getting worse instead of better. What will Maggie do next to try to fix things?
The book is wonderful and I look forward to the next in the series.

Weaving the Strands perfect title for the book

This is the second book in the Rosemont series that continues the story of Maggie Martin and the Westbury Community. I started reading this book and just couldn't stop reading it until I got to the end. The title of the book is perfect for the story line. Weaving the Strands takes you through the many mysteries that are unraveling with the people in Westbury. The town is economically in trouble. The mystery is who is causing the issues. Maggie's adventure to Rosemont to Westbury and her decision to keep Rosemont is unraveling more than Maggie may want to know about her dead husband's mysterious past times too. If you love mystery and suspense, lol no further. This is a good series to read. I cannot wait to start reading the third book as more things start to unravel about Westbury.

This was the second book in the Rosemont Series. The story is of an older lady who finds out that her newly dead husband has embezzled lots of money from the college he was president of and had a mistress. He did leave a rather large house to her in the middle the country so she moves there and starts a new life. Over five books she settles in there and tries to become involved in a country life and we see different people come and go like the mistress, and her children trying to figure out why she has moved there.

Short, fast read, which I liked better than the first in the series. There were some interesting twists here and there. I was particularly amused by the Dickens' worthy coincidence of Loretta's hire by Frank Haynes. In fact, there are aspects of this series that do remind me of Dickens--there are villains that are truly UGH-worthy, while other villains have their soft spots that almost make them pitiable. The good people are moral, kind, and generous. Altogether, not a bad bunch to spend the day reading about.

When I saw this book, I thought I remembered liking the first one so I decided to read it. I will not read the third. I do not like serials that leave you hanging at the end of a book. It is okay to continue secondary plots or character storylines but each novel should be a story with a beginning and an end. This one jumps around on several different povs and doesn't tidy up any storylines. If you want me to read the next book, write a good book, don't leave me hanging.

Barbara Hinske, keep up the great work! Tonight, I start book 3, so I'll be back with another review when I'm done. I'll be listening on Audible. :-)

You know when you agree to do something to help, and then what you mostly receive is criticism, well that’s what Maggie seems to be living right now. But does she forge ahead with determination, absolutely! I love the “seniors” and their resourcefulness! I have to wonder how some people can be so good on one level, but sooo bad on others, but you know they are out there among us.

I am loving this series. It was just what I needed to unwind with. I love the author - she keeps the story moving, introduces interesting characters and she has a way of making me want to know more. I am middleaged and feel I can relate to the relationships she introduces. I know people like these.
I recommend this as a good relaxing read that keeps you coming back for more.

Loved This Book!

I loved this book, which is Number 2 in the Rosemont Series! I think it was a great improvement over the first book. I’m not sure if it really was written in a more flowing manner or if it just seemed that way because I have become more familiar with all the characters. In any case, I am looking forward to the continuing story!

Book 2 finds Maggie and the city council struggling with financial crisis. Introduces us to new people at the retirement facility and a crisis there.
The story keeps building, we know some of the guys are bad, really bad. Some we still wonder about.
New finds in the attic of Rosemont.
New developments and questions abound.

Weaving the Strands

I love it when one book in a series just blends into the next book seamlessly! Anticipating what’s going to happen next is part of the allure for me…along with the characters and a steady onward thrust of unexpected suspense, hope, dreams and wishes. A SOLID ENJOYING SERIES!

A delightful escape

A delightful escape, ideal for curling up on a cold, winter day. The joy within Maggie’s family—her adult children, granddaughters, and boyfriend—is truly heartwarming, but trouble looms on the horizon, leaving me eager to dive into the next book in the series.

Maggie continues to make Rosemont a home and finds vintage ornaments to decorate the Victorian house as a show place for the town. The kids come for Thanksgiving and return for Christmas. Continue to discover more about the corruption of city hall.

Book 2 in the Rosemont series, is another winner. Maggie is busy as mayor, trying to clean up the mess in the town's finances and pension fund. Romance is in the air for many people in the town. A good read!

More duplication of phrasing. How many times in this book did someone snap back their head or roll back on their heals? Why do editors not fix these or call attention to the redundancy to the author?

This series keeps you wanting more

This second in the series introduced more interesting characters and weaves an intriguing mystery of financial embezzlement, unscrupulous businessmen and love stories all at once.

I really enjoyed this series so far!

Even though they are not what I normally read, I really like this series, not often you get to read about older folks falling in love! The house sounds so incredibly awesome too!
