Rate this book
When you think about retirement, what comes to mind? Maybe it has something to do with stopping work, but should it? Whatever your plans for retirement are, do you know how to achieve them? Do you know how your pensions, ISAs, property and everything else will come together to deliver the lifestyle you want one day?

In this deeply practical book, 25-year veteran financial planner Pete Matthew walks you through the three phases of

1.The Home Straight – the last five or ten years before retirement, when it’s time to get everything in place and aligned.

2.The Great Transition – for many of us, retiring is a process not an event and it looks different for each of us.

3.The New Normal – once we’re settled into our new life, we need to keep everything under review and look towards some later life planning.

In The Meaningful Money Retirement Guide, you’ll find everything you need to KNOW and everything you need to DO to plan and enjoy your perfect retirement.

Pete Matthew is my go to for all things personal finance in the UK. His podcast and videos, Meaningful Money, provides valuable, practical, real world advice for real people. So, when Pete released this book on retirement, I knew I had to read it.

I'm 49 years of age at the time of writing this review, and so retirement is not such the far away change that it was once.

As is Pete's style, this book was written in an easy to understand, practical way, which helps UK residents come to grips with not only the financial decisions you'll need to make to prepare for retirement, but also the mindset shifts you may need to make.

While no book is a replacement for a financial advisor when it comes to dealing with retirement decisions, this book is an invaluable guide that helps you understand what you need to be aware of, and how to deal with those decisions.

Highly recommended for anyone even interested in what retirement may mean for them.

Excellent resource for almost retirees and retirees

The information here is extremely useful, easy to understand and well written. Pete has such a great talent for explaining things. I hope the book gets updates as tax rules inevitably change through the years.
