Let me begin by saying that I love Kendra and her books.

I also love a phantom of the opera retelling and if we’re looking at this Erik compared to the one from the original story, I think it's very 1:1 when it comes to their obsession and love for the protagonist.

The plot however felt very disconnected and missing clarity on certain critical questions that I formed as the story progressed. Chris and Erik’s past specifically was left open ended, or at least lacking in detail.

I thought there was going to be a bigger emphasis on their connection and how it was formed beyond the mentorship and their buddingrelationship.

The mystery of the competition and the missing competitors were not given enough exposition, so it felt like things happened, just because and a lot of things had to be assumed. I think these issues would have been aided if the book was about 100 pages longer.

Raoul also felt like more of a nuisance than an actual antagonist. Even in the original piece he is still disruptive, but it feels like theirs an actual argument that can be made for why he is the “safer choice” in here he just felt very one note and overall unimportant.

I did really enjoy the dynamic between the members of Hell Hath Honey. I also really love the name of the group, super cute!! They worked so well as band mates and I truly hope that they each get a story so I can learn more about them.

The relationship was pretty solid and the chemistry was electric!! It was honestly so deliciously familiar. Chris and Erik had just the right amount of tension and heat.

While I think delving into Chris and her past would have opened up so many doors this is a universal that I would revisited if it was ever expanded upon! I definitely wanna know more about the ghouls and about this great love story!

Man I love everything by Kendra, and Bewitched by the Phantom is no exception! This was such a quick yet completely captivating read and I honestly could not put it down.

The mystery of who the phantom was had me hooked from the start, and the band aspect added such a unique twist that I just wanted this book to continue forever, this fit perfectly into the whole Bewitched series. It’s that perfect mix of intrigue and romance that kept me reading.

Kendra just knows how to build a world and create characters that grab me instantly, and this book did exactly that. If you’re already a fan of any of the bewitched series from so many amazing authors, this is a must-read. And if you’re new to it, you can easily dive right in since it works beautifully as a standalone!

I love the phantom of the opera, and this was a modern retelling with a rock metal battle for the bands, lots of rivals drama, and spooky activity.
I enjoyed the love conflict dynamics between Chris, Erik and Raoul, and all the mystery behind Erik and the Phantom.
The song lyrics are woven throughout the story and really add to the gothic and eerie atmosphere, and there's an ongoing mystery with missing bands and haunted melodies.
Erik definitely fulfilled the dark broody mysterious stranger role, and it was a haunting mix of stalker, obsession, protection and control.
This had great tension, I loved the chemistry between Erik and Christine, and how she tries to unravel him but keeps getting drawn in by him.


- I do feel like a few areas weren't answered at the end though, including the missing bands, the items appearing and disappearing, Erik and his band, and how Erik knew Christine before.

So, I LOVE this book!! Christine, who goes by Chris gets entry into a recording label contest for a record deal, things get weird and kind of crazy!! She has a friend through snapchat who's been there for her through hard times... She also runs into a childhood friend there as well. They're competing against each other. This book is quirky, a little spooky and a whole lot of amazing! I laughed hard reading this!

First off, that cover is sooooo intriguing! I'm not a "cover girl" reader but this one is very eye-catching and so cool! And golly, this read was super intriguing! I don't even know how to begin describing it or my impressions. Unusual, eerie, otherworldly, awesome, incredible.... magical! I can honestly say, I've never read anything like this before, so flipping unique it caught me by the short and curlies and I couldn't free myself. Not that I wanted to, I barely blinked reading this, let alone tried to tug free! Put it down to pee? Not a chance!!!! I didn't know this author but now I want ALL her books!

Chris, who's life was always music, IS music, almost lost her mojo. A mysterious mentor, who she dubbed the Phantom, helped her climb out of the hole and now she's stronger, she's part of an all girls band, Hell Hath Honey, but the honey has been scarce... not the Hell so much, all these girls HATH nooooooo money or prospects so Hell is where they're at! Rejection after rejection weights heavily on them and then...yep, they're asked to take part in The Battle of the Bands. By default it might be, but hey, who cares, a spot is a spot! And then everything starts going....strange. Faced with a blast from the past, woo'd by a masked hunk, lyrics and music popping up in bizarre ways, it no wonder Chris thinks she's losing her mind. But good golly! HOW the author pens this, WHAT this author concocts, she honestly has me gaping almost to the end of the book!

Erik is the masked charmer, he too is a participant in the event, suave, sexy, dangerously dark but comfortable, Chris doesn't stand a chance. Even when she's warned off by her childhood friend, the draw, the attraction is much to resist. Heck, I didn't stand a chance, he could have brought the fires of hell in his wake and I would have melted like ice cream! Raoul, the friend from the past, who ditched the friendship 10 years ago, surfaced at the event, broody, intense, and determined to win her over. Yeah... sorry dude, I'm with Chris on this....best friends don't ghost one another and disappear without a word for 10 years. Oh gosh did I enjoy where Ms Morena took it, the tension of the pull and tug, real, believable. I must admit that I loved these characters from the start, yes, even Raoul, I am still processing the coolness of the plot, the brilliance of her excellent rendition and storytelling.

This read captivated me entirely, the author presented a wonderful Phantom of the Opera retelling with a twist that was simply ingenuity at it's best! How she scrambled Chris' brain, she did likewise with mine. She illustrated the characters magnificently, she twisted the plot succinctly, she definitely drew "over the lines" veering into dangerous territory, and hell if I didn't want to jump in, I didn't care if I'd get scalded or frozen, Ms Morena was the Pied Piper for me, I would have followed her willingly, anywhere! What an extraordinary phenomenal read! I've enjoyed all the books in the series so far, but, to me, this one is my favourite, this one stands out above the rest.

Phantom of the Opera meets rock and roll in this short, sweet, paranormal romance by Kendra Moreno. Bewitched by the Phantom, book 6 in the Bewitching Hour collection, as a fast and easy read, but one that I couldn’t put down. Mixing together an all girl rock band, childhood blase from the past, and a masked phantom who can’t stay away, makes this book an instant hit.

People may claim a love triangle lies within this book, but I read it as more our FMC has two men who love her. It is quite clear who Chris is drawn to and that the other man is just having a hard time letting go. Either way you describe it,Kendra wrote all the characters with passion, depth, and layers that all weave into a wonderful story. Chris has dreams of becoming a known rock singer with her band, Hell Hath Honey. These girls are determined, talented, and ready to go the distance to achieve their dreams.

Life has been tough lately, so a last minute invite to a Battle of the Bands feels like their last chance. They win this, they are set; they lose, well losing isn’t an option. This battle is where the story really takes off. A past love is there also competing and it becomes clear he is trying to win Chris back. Chris can’t shake the feeling that another band member is someone she’s met before and the draw she has towards him is powerful.

This is the first book I have read by Kendra. I really enjoyed her writing style, pacing, and imagery. I felt connected to the characters, wanting to see our girl band succeed and Chris find her perfect match. Her bandmates bring fierce female energy to the book that I ate up! A great addition to this collection and one that I really enjoyed reading!

While some short, quick reads really work, unfortunately this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

The premise had me intrigued - Phantom of the Opera-esque mystery with masked singer (total Sleep Token vibes!), Battle of the Rock Bands drama, a love triangle... it had all the elements I would be itching to read about. Which is why it scored that extra star I'll be honest. But in the end, it just fell a bit flat.
It felt like being dropped into the middle of a story, or as if it picked up from where a previous book had ended. You're left with a lot of questions about the plot from the get-go, and while some of them are answered eventually, by that point you're so bogged down in endless song lyrics that you find yourself skimming through.

The plot itself felt a little all over the place, and the main characters didn’t seem to have much chemistry. It was almost like they were paired together because it made sense on paper, rather than because of any natural connection. Whilst it’s a short read and everything moved quickly as you'd expect it too, it just felt that sometimes it moved too quickly, and I think it would have benefited from being a slightly longer, fuller-length novel. That would have allowed room to build on subplots and backstories, and given the overall story a better chance to come together more cohesively.
And the ending... I’m not quite sure what that was. It felt like an abrupt full stop rather than a true conclusion.
That said, the premise was totally up my street, and had it been a longer, more developed novel, I think I would have really enjoyed it.

Loved it!

A story of obsession, music and mystery…the Phantom of the Opera with a PNR twist…it must be Bewitched by the Phantom.

Chris is the singer for an alt metal band - Hell Hath Honey - who are on the verge of hitting the big time. If they can ever get a break, that is…and then it happens.

After being rejected, they are suddenly accepted into a Battle of the Bands. Of course, the first person Chris wants to tell is Phantom, the mysterious individual who has been mentoring her online for a few years.

Once the competition gets going, things get…weird. Bands disappear and new ones show up. Chris has shadowy dreams of music and mirrors…and there’s a tune living rent free in her head that Erik, the masked lead singer of Cadaver Cantata, seems to know as well.

As the competition heats up, so does the chemistry between Chris and Erik. But who - or what - is he beneath the ever-present golden mask?

It’s rivals to lovers, black cat and golden retriever, with a love triangle thrown in for good measure. It’s electrifying lyrics and reality tv. My only complaint was I wanted more - like The Phantom, there are a few mysteries that remain unsolved.

This is an open door, relatively quick burn romance. There aren’t really any major triggers in the book.

With plenty of Easter Eggs for Phantom fans, this novella is perfect for people who enjoy retellings and PNR romcoms.

This book, a part of the Bewitching Hour series, is a riff on Phantom of the Opera. I’m afraid it wasn’t my favorite in this series. I felt that there was a serious “ick” factor to it; not scary, not creepy, just ick.

When Christine and her band are invited to participate in a battle of bands, after another band disappears, they’re terrified but thrilled. They hope they’ll be the ones who win a recording deal. Once there, she meets Erik, a musician with another band who always wears a golden mask. Erik has a beautiful voice and is a talented pianist. He also seems to have supernatural powers, and he has a secret that he’s hiding from Chris.

I had a hard time getting into this book, perhaps because of the first person writing style, or maybe because Christine wasn’t at all believable. I truly didn’t like Chris at all, and found that most of the song lyrics used in the book make little sense.. Out of nowhere, this goes from a battle of bands to two guys competing for one woman. The story didn’t hold my attention; I kept putting it down after reading a few more pages and not really wanting to pick it back up.

It’s an okay read, but isn’t a favorite in this series.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

I loved this retelling of the Phantom of the Opera in a more modern interpretation as a battle of the bands and the phantom as a mysterious mentor that the main character, Christine, has been messaging for years.

Christine is the lead singer of a band called Hell Hath Honey, which she formed with her friends. They were invited to a Battle of the Bands competition, where the winners receive a recording deal. After being rejected from other places, they need this to work out.

The moment they arrive, they learn that another band has just disappeared, and their band took that band's place. Christine also meets Erik, a musician for Cadaver Cantata, who wears a golden mask that reminds me of Vessel from Sleep Token. He has a beautiful, supernatural-sounding voice.

As the competition starts, more bands start disappearing and new ones appear. While this competition is happening, feelings start developing between Chris and Erik, but she starts questioning how he knew a melody that has been in her head.

Bewitched by the Phantom was an amazing paranormal twist on the original story. I loved the use of the original names, love triangle, and some easter eggs added for the Phantom fans. The only thing I wanted more of in this book was more chapters in the mind of the Phantom because I loved the rules at the end of the book. That part was the best part of the book, truly made me laugh. Thank you so much for this arc!

4.5 Rounded up, because it was a rocking good time.

This is the entry in The Bewitching Hour series that I was most excited to read! I received an ARC of this for free and all opinions are my own. I want to thank the author for allowing me to read this ARC

I adore Phantom of the Opera retellings and Bewitched by the Phantom certainly delivered. It was a lot of fun and I ate it up in a day. I felt like Chris & Erik's chemistry sang off the page. Was not a fan of Raoul. Honestly I am never a fan of Raoul, but this rendition was especially grating.

The premise of Phantom x Battle of the Bands was so much fun. I loved seeing the story beats in a different context. I also liked the mystery of who Erik is. I want to know more about the record label, as well as some of the other bands!

While the descriptions of the music and setting were fantastic, the descriptions of characters were a bit lacking. Other than the lovely artwork on the cover, I couldn't tell you what most of the characters looked like. I would have liked to see more about some of the other band members in the main groups, and it felt like there were plot threads that were never resolved.

All in all, it was a good time, and I recommend it if you want a quick hit of Phantom of the Opera with a paranormal twist.

This was a fun fast paced Rockstar romance with a twist!!
In this we follow Chris who is in an all girls rock band. They have been trying for years to be seen and make it big. Well there time has come as they are offered a spot on The Rock of Ages, which is a battle of bands this year. BUT things start to get weird and even stranger things start to happen. There is one band we keep seeing and especially their lead singer Erik. Erik seems to always show up everywhere Chris is, but also they both seem drawn to each other.
I will say I feel I was left with questions unanswered with this book. I would have loved a bit more information on what is happening at this battle, as well as more backstory or information on Chris and Erik, and even just more on Erik himself!
Overall though I enjoyed the relationship with Chris and her band mates, and the tension and between Erik and Chris. This was a same day read for me for sure! If you like phantom of the opera you will enjoy this book then.

Bewitched by the Phantom by Kendra Moreno was such a fun and spooky read! 🎸👻

This Phantom of the Opera retelling is infused with a rock metal battle of the bands twist 🎤🔥—complete with rival band drama, haunted melodies, and mysterious happenings that keep you hooked. 😱🎶 It’s fast-paced, sharp, and packed with heart-driven characters. I had so many laugh-out-loud moments 😂💀. I absolutely loved this book!

The love triangle between Chris, Erik, and Raoul (Chris childhood friend) kept the tension high 💘😈, but the chemistry between Chris and Erik? 🔥 Perfection. I couldn’t get enough. The way Chris tries to uncover Erik’s secrets while falling deeper under his spell? Chef’s kiss.

The battle of the bands scenes were intense and thrilling, and the supernatural edge gave the story such a unique twist. 🎵✨

If you’re craving a magical, spicy slow burn with razor-sharp banter, this retelling is a must read. Perfect for fans of Wednesday Addams, Bewitched, and Practical Magic

Phantom of the Opera but make it Rock, Hell yeah!! You can't go wrong with a Phantom of the Opera retelling plus mixing in a hard rock competition, truly unbeatable! This was a fun book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved both Erik and Chris and I absolutely loved the whole gothic, mystical vibes.

The underlying passion that embodied Erik was so strong. You could almost feel it like a living, breathing entity. You could really feel Erik's devotion to not only Chris but also the music.

Chris was a great character and I loved how committed she was. She wouldn't stand for being pushed around and fought for her place.

I loved how this story was so deeply woven with the music. I had really wished I could hear the actual songs because I know they would have sounded beautiful because the lyrics were beautiful. The very end was hilarious and I'm so glad that was included. This was a great read, just in time for spooky season! I would definitely recommend it!!

Bewitched by the Phantom is such a fun little read with a quirky premise. I mean, a Battle of the Bands reality show? Yes please—I was instantly sold on that. And our main character, Chris, is a blast to follow. She’s lively, entertaining, and kept me hooked through all the musical drama.

That said, the pacing didn’t quite hit the right notes for me. The story felt a bit all over the place, especially when it came to Chris’ love life. One chapter she’s swooning over Erik, the next she’s declaring she has to stay away from him. It left me flipping back a few times wondering if I’d missed something—it was just a touch too whiplashy for my taste.

Still, even with the ups and downs, it wasn’t a bad read overall. If you’re in the mood for a light, slightly chaotic paranormal romance with a fun musical twist, this might just hit the spot.

3.5 I haven’t had enough coffee for this out of 5.

oh this was such a fun and cute story! it's also very unique, atleast to me since i have never read anything like this before. if you are a phantom of the opera fan this book is must read. it is a very quick read too which was a nice change of pace.

i did have a few questions, the main two were what happened with the missing bands and how did erik know chris from before? i wish we got some explanations on those.

without spoiling the ending i will say that at the endnof the book there is a list of rules and those just made me smile. it was a fun and cute touch. i really hope we will be able to see more of chris and erik in the future. thank you so much kendra moreno for gifting me an e-arc copy of bewitched by the phantom!

A fast paced modernized retelling of the Phantom of the Opera mashed up with a battle of the bands.

I overall really enjoyed this book. I love a good rockstar romance and this delivered on that. There are also paranormal elements sprinkled in plus a love triangle. It had some solid banter and wicked song lyrics. I loved the descriptions of the different costumes the band would wear and felt like the author painted a good picture on character descriptions.
I did feel like some of the plot points seem to get forgotten/never were followed up with or explained ie why were there random bands/people disappearing.
I was left wanting a little more of character dynamics build up ie the backstory on the history flashbacks Chris would “dream” of.
Hopefully there are plans for a follow-up book with other band mates and we will get some more answers.

I have to start by saying I am loving the bewitching hour.
This book was nostalgic, I remember battle of the bands from high school. It was giving battle of the bands x phantom of the opera vibes. I think all the characters were likable, even the ones who were supposed to be semi annoying IYKYK. Erik was a whole vibe and I love it. A lot was left to the imagination for a large portion of the book and I enjoyed that! The tension and chemistry was on full display. I have no complaints, I do wish there was more! I wouldn’t say no to a novella or book 2. Thanks for the opportunity to review this 😉

Another installment in the Bewitching hour series hit my box the other week and I was absolutely buzzing to read it! Bewitched by the Phantom by Kendra Moreno is a standalone book with all the spooky spicy vibes you need this season.

“You okay there, angel?”

I really enjoyed the concept of this book, battle of the bands but make it spooky, absolutely sold. I loved the FMC, Chris, and her band mates, the dynamic between them had me routing for the band the whole book. I loved the musical/lyrical elements as well!

“You deserve to be worshiped,” “So, worship me,”

The MMC, Erik, was the perfect combination of mysterious, over protective and charming. The flirty intense chemistry was electric and when she finally gave in 👏🏻 👏🏻

Short, sweet and spicy, a highly addictive paranormal romance with banter and magic. Perfect for fans of Wednesday Addams, Bewitched, and Practical Magic. Absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a spooky season rec!!

This book was such a fun mix of music, mystery, and magic! Chris, the lead singer of Hell Hath Honey, goes into the battle of the bands ready to crush it, but weird things keep happening that make the whole competition feel… off. Then she crosses paths with the masked singer from The Cadaver Cantana, and wow—their chemistry is electric. Every time he sings, it feels like pure magic. The battle of the bands setting adds an edgy, vibrant backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the phantom-like figure lurking in the shadows. Chris is a bold, determined protagonist whose grit makes her easy to root for, while the masked singer is the perfect blend of danger and allure. That said, while the mystery kept me hooked, there are definitely some holes in how Chris and Erik are connected. It leaves a lot of questions by the end, which may or may not be satisfying depending on what you’re looking for.

Another fun spooky read, The story was full of suspense and drama. This battle of the bands brings spookiness and competition to a new level. Chris is going to prove to the world that her band is the best but when ERik and his golden guitar peaks her interest things get goulish. I enjoyed the love triangle in this book it made things interesting with the conflict and dynamics that formed. The tension and angst gave us an irie feeling while we heard the longing through the song lyrics that were written throughout the story. What a great way to show characters feelings. Erik was the perfect stalker, obsessed, possessive and wanted to control her outcome. Chris was a strong sassy woman who finally gave into her desires. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

I am blown more and more away as I read each of these books in The Bewitching Hour Series.

I have always been obsessed with the phantom of the opera. I've seen it live. I've read the book. I may have had a Gerrard Butler as the phantom poster in my bedroom at one point, so I just knew this was going to do something for me.

Oh, it it.

I loved this more contemporary style to the phantom, but there were still a lot of fantastical elements.

This author put such a good twist on one of my favorite stories, and they left me wanting more...NEEDING more!

It's short. It's spicy. It will have you yearning for the voices in the shadows.

I ARC read this book and I loved it so much I HAD to dress up as Chris and sing to see if Erik would show up at my house 😏 (I didn't have any luck, but at least I looked good, right?) Erik can write songs and sing to me all day everyday and I'll be hooked for the rest of my life.

Just look at that cover! Why are they both so fricking hot?! 😫🥵

"Bewitched by the Phantom" is a standalone book of the paranormal romance series, The Bewitching Hour. If you’re thirsting for magic and mayhem, spicy slow burn, and witty banter, then you have to read this series. I still have a couple that I have to read, but the ones I've read so far have been really good!

This book was a wonderful read especially if you are a fan of alt rock music. The attention to detail about music and lyrics and the whole set-up with a competition was so beautifully descriptive.

The romance is between Chris and Erik who are rival bands in the same competition. They seem to have a strong connection with each other that defies time. The story draws you in with the element of mystery and music keeps you hooked. There is OM drama in the form of Raoul who is an old friend and fellow musician.

The story is about enduring friendship between the band members and the lure of new love that feels timeless. The combination of love and friendship helps Chris grow to manifest her true potential as a musician.

Highly recommend 👍🏻

Phantom of the opera vibes but set up like battle of the bands. Love a good Rock and Roll band especially one that truly cares about the music! 🎸🎶

Chris a member of Hell Hath Honey is there to win the competition only she finds her self highly annoyed but also intrigued by the competition- Erik a member of Cadaver Cantata. That is until her childhood best friend Raoul shows up to compete as well and leaves her confused. He used to make her feel like the sunshine but now she is not so sure she belongs in the sunshine!

Definitely another must read in the Bewitching Hour Series!! 👻

The story is heavily inspired by Phantom of the Opera and I really like how the author twisted and turned the original story to match a modern Battle of the Bands setting. It's interesting and the heavy metal/rock setting works really well.

The story itself is a lot focused on the tension between Chris (our FMC) and Erik (our MMC) as their bands battle it out in the competition. And when I say focused, I really mean it. We do get to meet Chris' bandmates but the only one who has even a little role in the story, but Eric's bandmates are not even named. I didn't mind it but it's definitely something to keep in mind when reading the book. We also have some loose threads by the end of the book which I hoped would get solved but didn't. They really don't play a big role for the plot, so I can definitely bypass them, but I do wish we'd gotten some info on what happened to the rest of the bands.

The final big moment is done really well and all three main characters play their roles up really well. I like the dramatics and when compared to the musical version, I can definitely feel the vibes and I liked them a lot. The final chapter made me smile and it added a touch of fluffiness to the story which I appreciated.

I really enjoyed reading Bewitched by the Phantom, I love Phantom of The Opera and this story with its mash of a battle of the bands really made for an interesting read.
I felt the characters were created well, I like our MFC Chris and Erik the MMC, their chemistry worked well and I love their interactions. Raoul I wasn't a fan of, maybe I was missing something there.
I really liked the writing style of this novel, it really helped create a picture as I was reading.

I liked how the author set the mood and ambience for this book. However, she left it up to the reader to assume what was happening, e.g., people disappearing and one thing wasn't explained at all-- how strong are Erik's powers?
Chris's treatment of Raoul made her less likeable, but maybe that was the point? I also felt that she should've been confronted with the less savoury aspects of Erik's character, even if she still ended up with him.
