Starbound #2

Captured By The Alien

Rate this book
Captured. Imprisoned. Forced into an alien marriage contest.

Kara never imagined she’d fall for an alien warrior. Vahn is supposed to be her mortal enemy, not her fated mate. But the big, gruff Vraxian sets her senses on fire and makes her question everything she knows.

That’s until she learns the secret he’s been keeping from her. To say she’s furious is an understatement. And when she’s forced to pretend to be his prisoner, things go from bad to worse.

Taken captive and transported to Vraxos, Kara must hide her feelings for Vahn in order to survive. The war between their species means their love is forbidden. And that’s not all.

There’s the small matter of the dozen Vraxian females competing ferociously against each other for the privilege of marrying her mate. Yeah, like she's ever going to let that happen.

Kara’s a soldier. And soldiers don’t back down from a fight. Especially when the prize is the seven-foot alien who owns her heart.

Captured By The Alien is Book 2 in the Starbound a steamy sci-fi enemies-to-lovers romance with a kick-ass human heroine, a few laughs and a lot of action. Oh, and a hot alien warrior with pseudo-tentacles.

Perfect for fans of Ruby Dixon, Krista Luna and Regine Abel. For readers 18 and over. From the author of the Immortal Hearts series.

I read this in about a day. I could not put it down and I'm so glad that I had the next day off to recover!

This story starts off right where the previous one left off! (And I am thankful for that!) Kara is in the brig on her way to a foreign planet with beings that are not going to think kindly of humans, with whom they've been at war for the past 20 years. Vahn is in some hot water from the whole lying by omission thing to Kara and she does not make it easy on him!
Kara and Vahn come together (ha!) and try to make peace between the two species, and what better way to do that than by getting married! However, she's got some competition there with the whole "marriage eligibility by trials" thing that is a custom on the planet. The competition is kind of like a hunger games, but less lethal because Vahn has a vested interest in Kara being the winner. I really liked meeting some of the competitors, they provided a fun way to learn more about the customs of the planet.
I liked Vahn and Kara together, they had some trials to overcome together, and they each got to learn a little more about themselves, and what they might face in their future.

There are steamy times, deceitful aliens (well technically, they wouldn't be aliens because they are on their homeland), and swearing.
Yes, this does end on a cliffhanger (and it is a good cliffhanger!), much like the previous one. But the next book is the last in the series (to my knowledge) and I imagine the author is going to give us an absolutely wonderful ending to make up for the turmoil of these endings!

Captured by the Alien is book two and picks up the story of Kara and Vahn as they are about to arrive on his home world of Vraxos.
Kara remains prisoner, a ruse Vahn has to play in order to keep her safe as he cannot reveal to his people she is his Kalehsha/fated mate, no matter the pain it causes them both.
While Kara remains angry with him for not revealing his true royal identity to her while they were stranded together, and sees his deceit as a betrayal.
Its also while on route that Vahn is advised his ill father has passed away, and he is now the new ruler of the Vraxian empire… and the plot thickens.
Between the years of hostilities amongst humans and Vraxian, AND Kara being the daughter of Earth’s president there is a lot going on in another fantastic story in the trilogy that is busy, busy with some awesome plot advancements running through, that kept the storyline interesting and fast paced.
Between lots of political intrigue, action, family dynamics, excellent world building, passion, humor, drama, writing and expertly crafted characters the story continues to captivate.
Some resolutions will be made but readers will soon be dropped off at another OMG cliffhanger which has me needing that next book desperately!

I am blown away with this story. It starts where the first book ended, Kara being thrown in the brig. From there it only gets more suspenseful.
Action/edge of your seat suspense from the first sentence to an unbelievable cliffhanger ending.
I loved the world building. The details in the competition were amazing. You could feel the hatred of some of the potentials. And yes she does have a friend. I loved how she was able , with her skills, win some of the people in Vahn's world.
Interesting what role Ela plays in every thing. Also I liked Rhyn. His support of Vahn was impressive. And then you have Baelon and his niece Layahn. What they did at the competitions was uncalled for . But then again they had their own motivation.
Loved the somewhat subtle humor mixed in the story line.
Steam to the eventual romance.
I can't wait to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book by the author via StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.

A very good book. It was a little slow at the start, but I really started yo get going from about the halfway point. I wanted to give it 4.5 stars if not for the slow start. It would have been an easy 5 stars.

Kara and Vahn must keep their romance and feelings a secret. This is difficult around their closest friends and worst enemies. Now Kara must enter a competition to be the next empress. Will she be accepted? Will she even survive?

I like the way the attitudes of the characters change around Kara, and she earns every bit of respect she gains. I like that Kara takes the lead in this book. Even if it did not have a cliffhanger ending, I need to know what happens next.

After being stranded and falling in love ,Kara and Vahn are rescued but things don't go as they thought. Kara is taken captive and transported to Varkos .Having to hide their feelings to survive their path is dificult. And as Vahn ascends to the throne and needs a bride due to political matters while trying to broke peace ,Zara has to go through challenges.... A new chapter in this series with political intrigue, angst, drama and love. Sadly ends in a cliffhanger...again!

Another incredible read I just didn't want to put down. Reading how Kara and Vahns relationship progresses now they're on his home planet and how they're progressing as characters has been thoroughly enjoyable and can't wait to read more. With the most unlikeliest of friendships and biggest betrayal yet, can they survive what's to come or will it break the treaty they're all so desperate for.

A Really Interesting Love story

This was a love story about overcoming obstacles, and finding your one true love that you didn’t expect to find, especially not from your species.
I really enjoyed the friendships that grew from unexpected interactions.
About overcoming obstacles such as prejudices, and hatred to building bonds of trust.

Impossible to put down—betrayal, forbidden love, rival queens, and political intrigue all wrapped in a cliffhanger that actually works. I absolutely love this author’s writing style!
