Surprises on the Scottish Isle

Rate this book
Will they get a second chance at first love? When newly divorced Tara McTaigh spots an advert for a studio to let in Castle Coorie’s craft centre, she packs up her Edinburgh life and moves to the Isle of Skye, eager for a fresh start.

Little does she know that the castle’s estate manager, single dad Calan Fraser, is the man who broke her heart back at university.

Thoroughly done with romance, Tara decides to ignore Cal and focus on building her business – creating dollhouses to commission. But Duncoorie is a small community, and the two keep bumping into each other…

Just as she is starting to open her heart once more to Cal, a change in his life puts everything on the line. When a surprise storm threatens Tara's safety, will Cal realise in time that love is worth the risk?

An uplifting and feel-good crafty romance for fans of Holly Martin, Sue Moorcroft and Julie Shackman.

Lilac lives on a Welsh hillside with her very patient husband and incredibly sweet dog, where she grows veggies (if the slugs don't get them), bakes (badly) and loves making things out of glitter and glue (a mess, usually).

She's been an avid reader ever since she got her hands on a copy of Noddy Goes to Toytown when she was five, and she once tried to read everything in her local library starting with A and working her way through the alphabet.

She loves long, hot summer days in the garden, and cold winter ones snuggled in front of the fire, but whatever the weather she's usually writing, or thinking about writing, with heartwarming romance and happy-ever-afters always on her mind.

I've been thinking towards the end of last year that I wanted to visit Skye, so imagine when I read the first page and this book is set in Skye, taking that as a sign that I need to visit.

I love Lilacs books, this isn't my first and it certainly won't be my last. Everything about this book was gorgeous, the setting, the scenery, the miniature houses, even the anticipation brewing between the characters.

As always with Lilacs books, I can wait for the next book.

What a wonderful location, the Isle of Skye and a castle setting was a fabulous storyline. Tara makes doll’s
houses and the craft centre seems an ideal fit for her new start. When Tara meets the castle’s estate manager Cal she realises this might not work out as they have history. Cal’s daughter Bonnie is a total sweetheart and the crafters sound an interesting group. Thoroughly enjoyed this book which was a treat and I look forward to visiting Coorie Castle again.

I'm a sucker for books set in the Scottish Highlands, so when I saw this was set on the beautiful Isle of Skye, I knew I had to read it as Skye holds many wonderful memories for me.

I loved the castle setting and the craft centre. The businesses there sounded fabulous, especially Tara's dollshouse business. They sounded fabulou, although her first commission had me chuckling at the conversation that took place regarding it.

Tara and Cal were great together and I loved they got a second chance, although I despaired of Cal at times and my heart went out to Tara. Cal's daughter Bonnie was lovely and a little livewire but didn't have things easy.

A beautiful setting, great characters with added drama made for a wonderful read which I flew though. I do love a second chance romance.

Thank you Rachel's Random Resources for my ARC copy and spot on the tour.

Another lovely heartwarming tale from this author.
It’s full of well developed characters that will tug on your heartstrings and set in such beautiful landscapes.

It is a tale of hope, heartbreak, moving on, being honest, new friends and of course love.
It deals with difficult issues of loosing love, never really fully having love and ensuring the well being of a child above everything else. These issues are discussed sensitivity and looks at them from everyone’s perspective.

All the characters grow on you as you loose yourself in this story. It is written in a way that will have you imagining everything in your minds eye. Mhairi is a fantastic character, I love how she speaks and mothers everyone.

All in all a wonderful must read story from the Queen of heartwarming romance stories.

Give me all the Scottish things!

This was such a light and easy second chance romance to jump into and enjoy. While Cal grated on my nerves some of the times, for the most part I really did love him and Tara together! They were cute, flirty, and their banter was fairly fun to read! Any time I have a second chance romance in front of me I usually eat it up, and in this case I did just that!

Thank you Netgalley for an eARC!

Surprises on the Scottish Isle is a second chance romance set on the Isle of Skye.

In need of a fresh start after her divorce Tara moves to Skye after renting a studio in Castle Coorie’s craft centre. The space is perfect for Tara to create her dollhouses, she loves the location and everyone she’s met has been welcoming.

Just when Tara thinks she’s made the right decision in moving to Skye she meets the estate manager, Calan Fraser. Cal is the man who broke her heart back when they were at University together and Tara isn’t sure she’ll be able to avoid him if she stays on Skye, or if she even wants to.

This was an easy and entertaining read with likeable characters and steady pacing. I loved the Scottish setting and the cosy community vibe, it’s definitely somewhere I’d love to visit.

I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I really enjoyed this book! Such an easy read so points for getting me out my reading slump 🌟 It was cosy and comforting. I did feel it was a bit repetitive in the 3rd quarter but och well, not enough to put my off reading the rest

What a wonderful new book in a new series by Lilac Mills, vastly becoming one of my favourite romance novel writers!

When Tara must find a new home after her divorce, she spots an advert for a studio to let in Coorie Castle. Moving her business and life to Skye feels like the start of a new beginning for her.

Imagine her surprise when the estate manager of Coorie Castle none other than Cal, the man who broke her heart when he graduated from university.

Having lived a life away from each other, and after spending time together again, they both come to realise that they are each other's one and only true love.

I loved that Tara was a minitiaturist! Being one myself the book already won me over before I even started. But Lilac Mills tells a wonderful story about new beginnings and second chances. The way she describes Skye and Coorie Castle makes you want to put them on your bucketlist. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and can't wait for the next installment(s) of the Coorie Castle series!!

The book is quite a bit of fun for a breezy romance. The characters are complex enough that their foibles make sense. The author embraces romance tropes without being nonsensical. There is a fair amount of physical romance in this one, so I’d give it a strong PG-13. It’s much more Netflix than Hallmark with all the necessary feels of a solid romance.

A year ahead of her at university, Calan leaves for home in the Highlands in search of work as an estate manager – but his relationship with Tara is so strong that they both hope it’ll survive their separation. Until life intervenes – issues he finds it impossible to share with her, leaving her devastated. Ten years later, they’ve both been married to others – but Tara’s divorce has forced her to search for a suitable home where she can run her highly successful business making intricate dolls’ houses. And the craft village at Coorie Castle on the Isle of Skye looks just perfect – a workshop and studio, a shop on site where she can sell and display, and the offer of a cottage until she’s ready to make the move permanent. Until she finds that Calan is the estate manager there – their break-up changed the direction of her life and is still very painful.

It’s awkward for them both, but they slowly find they still have strong feelings for each other and she’s finally able to forgive him – although his life is rather complicated by the shared care of his young daughter, and a firm promise he made her. The obstacles to future happiness are considerable – at times I was in tears over the impossibility of it all, the pain so very real for them both. There could perhaps be a way through, but it might just be too late – the intervention of others might help, but so might the dramatic and life-threatening incident that makes him realise that their relationship is worth fighting for.

They were a couple who entirely won my heart – the sharing of both their perspectives was beautifully done, and really helped you understand the issues that were forcing them apart. And the supporting cast was superbly drawn too – the castle’s matriarch with her calm approach to every problem, the supportive friends, the wider community – and I’ll look forward to spending more time in their company and sharing their stories. And, rather unusually for me, I really loved Calan’s daughter Bonnie – very real, no filter to her interventions, the source of much of the book’s humour, but quite inadvertently causing some of the heartbreak too.

The book’s crafting focus was fascinating – not the first time a craft village has featured in a book I’ve enjoyed, but this was one I’d really like to visit – and I loved the detail of Tara’s construction of the miniature houses and everything found within. The wider setting was perfectly drawn too – breathtakingly beautiful when the surrounding seas are calm, dark and threatening when things are otherwise. And the romance? That was just so perfect, a connection you could really feel, a couple who were made for each other – and I so desperately needed that hoped for happy ending for them both.

There’s a particular warmth to the author’s writing, and a real emotional depth to the story – this book, with its focus on fresh starts and second chances, was one I very much enjoyed. I’m already looking forward to the rest of the series.

If you’re after a cosy, festive escape, Surprises on the Scottish Isle is sure to deliver. From the very first chapter, I knew I’d be in for a heartwarming journey filled with all the charm and warmth you’d expect from a story set on a quaint Scottish island. It’s the kind of book that’s best enjoyed with a cuppa and a blanket as the weather turns chilly.
The story follows Tara as they navigate personal change, new beginnings, and unexpected connections. It’s a classic “will they, won’t they” tale, and while it’s fairly predictable, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, it’s nice to know you’re heading for a happy ending. The path to get there is enjoyable, with plenty of lighthearted moments and a few tender ones.
I did find myself wishing the characters had been a bit more forthcoming with one another. There were points where a simple conversation could have resolved so much tension. It’s a bit frustrating as a reader to watch them dance around issues that feel so obviously in need of discussion. I kept thinking, “Just say it!” But then, I suppose that’s part of the charm in this sort of story. The slow burn of unresolved feelings does keep you invested, even if you’re mentally urging them on.
The Scottish setting adds a lovely, atmospheric backdrop, and Lilac Mills’ descriptions of the island’s rugged beauty had me longing for a windswept walk along a coastal path. There’s something magical about a story set in a small community where everyone knows each other’s business, and Mills captures that dynamic wonderfully. You’re quickly drawn into the ebb and flow of island life, with its quirky locals, close-knit friendships, and community spirit.
As for the writing style, it’s fluid, clear, and inviting. It’s the kind of book you can easily devour in a couple of evenings. The pacing is steady, and while there’s no dramatic twist to keep you on edge, that’s not really the point of a book like this. It’s comforting, like a familiar Christmas film you’ve seen a dozen times but still rewatch every year.
In summary, Surprises on the Scottish Isle is a light, feel-good read perfect for the festive season. While I would have liked the characters to be a bit more open with one another, it didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment. It’s sweet, cosy, and predictably heartwarming — exactly what I wanted from it. If you’re in the mood for a gentle romance with a scenic backdrop and a touch of festive cheer, this book is a delightful choice.

Surprises on the Scottish Isle is a heartwarming romance that is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

If you love a cozy second-chance romance, then this book is for you. I adore the setting, characters, and charming story within this book’s pages. This is an easy romance to sink into. Lilac does a wonderful job at hooking her readers in and keeping them engaged with the story right until the very last page. I’m not always a fan of second-chance romance, but I found myself thoroughly enjoying this one. There was just something so tragic about how Tara and Calan’s first romance ended that you couldn’t help but want to read on because you needed to know how these two would get back together. Another thing that was really well done was the build-up to Tara and Calan’s meeting after being apart for so long. Lilac masterfully turned up that anticipation for their meet-up, and I couldn’t help but want to turn the page because I needed to see what would happen next.

Even though this romance is charming, it also has a sense of realism and what the characters in this book are experiencing is relatable. After their separation, Tara and Calan have gone on to live their lives. They have been married and divorced and have dealt with family issues. Calan also has a child. They are juggling the responsibilities, drama, and challenges that life can throw at you. Their lives aren’t perfect, making connecting with them so easy.

The romance between Tara and Calan is full of angst, and it is clear that both characters have never stopped loving each other. Tara and Calan’s love story is going to take you on an emotional journey with lots of ups and downs, but I loved every moment of it. My heart broke when theirs did and soared when they rekindled their romance.

Surprises on the Scottish Isle is a wonderful romance that is sure to make you believe in true love.

Escapist contemporary romance does not get any better than Surprises on the Scottish Isle by Lilac Mills.

Newly divorced Tara McTaigh is eager to start over, so when she spots an advert for a studio to let in Castle Coorie’s craft centre, she doesn’t hesitate to pack her bags and leave her life in Edinburgh behind. Tara cannot wait to get to the Isle of Skye to start her brand-new life. Only, little does she realise that she is going to end up coming face to face with a figure from her past she would rather never clap eyes on ever again: Calan Fraser, who had broken her heart at university, who is also the estate manager…

There’s simply no avoiding one another and Tara and Calan quickly find themselves overcoming old hurts and healing from past wounds. As they start getting closer again, their old flame is rekindled – even if romance is the last thing on both of their minds. With Calan focused on bringing up his daughter alone and Tara still bruising from her divorce, a future together is out of the question…or is it?

When a twist of fate puts Tara in danger, will Calan get to her in time? Will Tara stop living in fear of getting hurt? Or will the two of them let this second chance slip through their fingers?

Lilac Mills makes her readers laugh and cry with Surprises on the Scottish Isle. This gorgeous romantic charmer tugs at the heartstrings and will delight readers with its hypnotic blend of emotion, intensity, warmth and drama. Tara and Calan’s love story is tender, fiery, compelling and so well told readers cannot help but cheer them on their way to their much-deserved happy ending.

Fans of Sue Moorcroft and Jessica Redland will not want to miss this wonderful contemporary romance by Lilac Mills: Surprises on the Scottish Isle.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Opinion

I really liked the idea of the craft centre, it just felt so welcoming. Surprises on the Scottish Isle was a heart-warming tale with a second chance romance. I have read a few books by Lilac Mills and all of them have been charming so I was eager to read this latest release. Very quickly I found myself wishing that Tara and Cal could put their past behind them as both were such wonderful characters. This is the first book in a series and I cannot wait to see what Lilac Mills has planned for the next book.

I haven’t read anything by Lilac Mills before and now I am wondering why because this book is just fabulous. Everything I look for in a location romance with some cherri es on the top.

It might seem like a book with a familiar second-chance-at-love trope, and it is, but it is done so brilliantly and with such warmth and charm and intimacy that this will instantly become your favourite book with this plot line.

Both of the central characters here are perfect. Tara, forever damaged by the heartbreak of losing her first young love, isn’t sure she can ever trust anyone enough again to really give them her heart fully, which is why her marriage is ending in divorce. What is it going to take for her to get past the hurt. Calan I really related to. Always trying to do his best for everyone else at the expense of his own happiness, it never quite seems to work out, but he still isn’t learning the lesson. But putting your child before yourself is surely the right thing to do in every circumstance, isn’t it? I felt this so hard, having been a single parent for the last almost 14 years and the author does a marvellous job of capturing the constant dilemmas you have to face.

The best part about this book though is the location. set on the beautiful Isle of Skye, at the fictional Coorie Castle, with it’s craft centre and cafe, the author makes the most of the beautiful setting. The reader gets to experience Scotland’s beautiful scenery, unpredictable weather, v varied wildlife and wonderful people through the eyes of the characters. The book will have you packing your bags for Skye immediately and wishing that the place the book was real. I want to go and learn to build dolls’ houses and make pottery at Coorie Castle craft centre and meet Mhairi and Jinny and Gillian and Mac. The place has wormed its way into my heart.

I am so excited that there is soon going to be another book in this series; I can’t wait to go back.

Fairly standard contemporary romance: two divorced people who, having previously been in a relationship, meet up years later. Her, bitter and childless, him with a kid and a nasty ex-wife. Lots of misunderstandings, nasty wife being nasty, and so on. What lifts this a little is the drop-dead gorgeous setting - who could resist a craft emporium set in a Scottish castle?

I really loved the secondary characters in this story; Mhairi and Jinny at the craft centre, and Calan's daughter, Bonnie. They were varied and individual, and brought so much life to the pages. I found Tara very relatable as well and, as a divorced woman, I loved how she grabbed the reins of her life.

Cal, though. Good grief, I wanted to shake some sense into him! And his flaming ex-wife! Honestly, if the nasty ex-wife trope was yeeted into the sun tomorrow, it wouldn't be a day too soon. I am SO over it, and I suppose that my dislike does colour this review somewhat.

However, that isn't my biggest peeve. There is so, SO much tell in this story that it drags the pacing down. It was a struggle to get through all the paragraphs of it, and I kept putting the book down out of boredom.

Which is a real shame, as I think there is a great tale in here somewhere. The settings are beautifully wrought and the secondary characters give great depth. It's just the telling that bogs everything down.

Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

Surprises on the Scottish Isle didn't have a lot of surprises, given the book summary and the prologue, but it was a cozy and sweet story nonetheless.

We know that Tara, in her quest to start new in a new place, meets up with Calan, the one who broke her heart. We know they will get their second chance, and I think knowing even knowing the predictability of it, I wanted to see HOW it was going to happen.

The journey was charming, light and tender. There's something so cozy and warm about a small village in the Scottish Isles, with a castle filled with a matriarch, a group of artisans, and gorgeous scenery all around. The tight-knit community didn't feel overly nosy, even though everyone knew everyone - there was a sense of support and love and taking care of their own that was heartwarming without feeling too Hallmark movie-ish.

We see Tara and Calan reconnect fairly early on, and there's definitely some slow burn, but I was also waiting for the other shoe to drop. It does eventually, as with all stories, and we do get our happy ending.

The writing is clear, and easy to read, drawing you in for a quick, comfy break from whatever else you have going on. I finished it in one evening - it wasn't a race to the end at all, but the steady and even pacing and charm of the story really kept me going.

I was really rooting for the each character to find his/her way, in whatever way it would manifest. This story was soft, gentle, and steady, like a blanket providing just the right amount of warmth.

I felt totally at home in this story right from the start. It just had such a lovely feel to it especially once we get to Coorie Castle and the craft centre.

I'm excited to learn that this is the first book in a series set at the craft centre.

Easily one of my favourite characters was Bonnie, Cal's daughter. She is inquisitive, and loved by all the crafters, and is going through a bit of a tough time at the moment adjusting to various changes.

I loved the descriptions of the dollhouses that Tara makes, they were exquisite and the first commission she takes on from the craft centre was a hilarious conversation to observe. The loch the castle is on sounded very picturesque and Cal and Tara certainly seemed to enjoy taking a boat out onto it.

There is a lovely community at Duncoorie Castle and Tara fits in right away, and seeing how her reactions to Cal (her long lost first love) change was enjoyable to see.

I really enjoyed every word of this book which i whizzed through thoroughly enjoying the story. And the more books that I'm reading on the Isle of Skye, the more I think I should potentially add it to my list of places to actually visit, as it once again sounds like a gorgeous place to live (in summer at least).

Thank you to Canelo and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Great setting and moving love story🌅👨‍👧👩‍🎨

4.5🌟 stars
I've been a devoted fan of Lilac Mills' novels for the past few years and was delighted when she decided to set this latest offering on the beautiful Isle of Skye. She incorporated visits to some of Skye's most iconic and dramatic landmarks into a lovely second chance romance between Tara, a doll house crafter, and Cal, a divorced dad estate manager and the man who abruptly rejected Tara ten years prior.

The way the author develops their lives in the ten intervening years before their surprise reunion was, at least to me, very realistic and relatable. And the kicker that threatens their relationship in the present makes Tara's reactions totally comprehensible and Cal's actions disappointing on one level yet admirable on another where he seeks to be the best father he can be to nine year old Bonnie. Rat or fatherly paragon? Or both?

Mills has such an easy style of writing that I just wanted to remain in the story and with the characters to the end, never mind that it meant staying up until almost dawn!

Thanks to Canelo Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

From the opening pages, I knew that this book would be fabulously romantic, and I wasn’t wrong. We are given a glimpse of Tara and Calan’s university relationship, and it’s impossible not to be engulfed in the power of their connection and then devastated by the fallout from their breakup.
The story then transports us to a decade later, when Tara is divorced, and Calan is working at the Coorie Castle craft centre. Calan is not around when Tara negotiates her place in the craft centre, which comes with a workshop and studio for her dollhouses. She also arranges the temporary rental of a holiday unit at the castle.
Tara is a beautiful character, and my heart went out to her. I felt the rawness of her pain, and yet the hope in her heart, which burned ever so slightly, reassured me that her story had a chance of love. Despite the devastation that led to their split, Tara is prepared to learn more about what happened and what led Calan to break her heart so callously. It takes a strong soul to offer such potential for forgiveness.
One of the benefits of being the reader is knowing all sides of the story, and that led me to hope for a resolution between them. Calan’s character is simply gorgeous! He has a strong sense of loyalty, even though it goes beyond the norm and is to his own detriment.
Besides the lead characters of Tara and Calan, there’s an encouraging supporting cast who I will look forward to catching up with in future books. This author has imagined a wonderful community, and the characters are totally relatable, with a vein of kindness connecting them all.
This lovely book is achingly romantic and had me praying for a truly happy ending. Although nothing is simple, and even the little wins are hard-won, I can assure you that I was thrilled as I read the final pages and suitably satisfied with the romantic ending.
This was my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last.

Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I enjoy Lilac's romantic stories, and this book reaches her usual high standard. We are introduced to Tara and Calan as they are in the early stages of their relationship at university. Fast forward a few years and they've gone into marriages with other people, and careers somewhat different to their original plans. Lilac draws a beautiful picture of the setting for this book, the Isle of Skye with the loch as a backdrop, conjuring up sights of the sunrises and sunsets along with glorious walks through the varied scenery. I have read other series set in craft centres but Tara's craft is completely unique and descriptions of her work run through the book making an unusual topic within the theme.
The characters are interesting and engaging, particularly Bonnie, Cal's cheeky chatterbox daughter, a completely credible young girl. There are fun moments, lots of romance and the thrilling storm close to the end. This is contemporary romantic fiction at its best: well-written, a good plot, and fully entertaining from start to finish.

This was my first read by Lilac Mills and won't be the last ! (how come I'd never heard of her before ??)

She hooked me with the title : Scotland is always spot on with me and I've never visited its isles so I was really hoping for a bit of scottish vibes. I found them :)

Tara and Calan... from the very first chapter, you can feel their love is special.
Of course the main issue of their relationship is lack of communication, and had he spoken back then, there wouldn't be a story to tell (who wants to read a "boring" easy never-ending love story?)

Seing each other after all those years, being both single again, rekindling their relationship is as inevitable as fog over London.

This book is about second chances and taking the best of every day.
Tara's art was quite unexpected, it's really cool. I liked that their jobs were unusual for books' characters and so "normal".
Bonnie is a sweetheart and brings a lot to the story.

This novel is nicely written and I am really looking forward for the next instalment of the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Canelo Romance for providing an eARC in exchange for a honest review.

Thank you @raraaresouces for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. Surprises on the Scottish Isle is book one in the series and is romance genre. Wow! I absolutely adored this book. It’s a fantastic read and took me a couple of days to read and even made me cry at the end. The story about Tara, who divorced and moved to Coorie Castle craft center where she makes doll houses and then bumps into the estate manager, who is her old flame, Cal, and he is divorced with a daughter. I love the front cover. It’s beautiful, and I love the title. It works well with the story. This is the first book I have read by Lilac Mills and I will be reading more. Her books are entertaining, and I found her writing style very easy to get into straight the way. I like Cal and Tara a lot, and it was lovely to follow their story and how they interact with each other after not seeing each other for ten years. This is a lovely and heartwarming read that perfect for the romantic months we have coming up. A gorgeous read that you will absolutely adore and want what to stop reading until the end. 5 stars

I'm reviewing this as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

I've read some previous books by this author and I enjoyed them, so I was excited to read this one as well. Following her divorce, Tara is hoping for a fresh start when she moves to the Isle of Skye. However, Skye has some surprises in store for Tara when she bumps into Cal, who broke her heart when she was a student.

This book is the first in the Coorie Castle Crafts series, and I liked the idea of a castle as an escape. Both Tara and Cal made me smile, but my favourite character was Cal's daughter Bonnie, who was adorable.

This book tugged at my heartstrings in just the right way, and I enjoyed the humorous moments as well. I also found there was something about it that made my heart ache a little, as though pining for a lost love. Life has a strange way of surprising us, and a book like this speaks to that.

Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

I’ve read a few books by the author and like the way the setting and people are usually portrayed. It was the case this time around as well.

We begin with the history of Tata and Cal. The abrupt end to their romance is something they have carried with them. Fate has other plans for them now. Tara finds herself looking for a new place to make her miniature homes. What she ends up finding is even better than she could have expected. This was a solid second chance story with more than a few bumps along the way.

The unique setup and the idea of miniature homes, especially the way it’s presented here was highly appealing. I always like an immersive setup and this was definitely that. I think I was more interested in the crafts centre than I was in the romance though. It wasn’t a bad match up, but I was not as emotionally invested in it as I expected to be.

I was still looking forward to the next and read it right after this one.I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
