Lux in Tenebris is the fourth book in The a fast-paced, action-packed Christian suspense series. Fans of novels by Frank Peretti, like This Present Darkness, or fans of Alana Terry, Creston Mapes, Lynette Eason, or Collen Coble, will fall in love with Landon Walker. An on-the-edge-of-your-seat redemption story.
I love that each book is an extension of the previous one, following on faultlessly. After his baptism, Landon settles down with Sarah, in the same diner that started it all, where he now fits in, he belongs, he feels comfortable. He's trying to keep the past events firmly from his mind, but there's a little worm burrowing, digging up questions. He knows too much, too many languages, too many past events, too many biblical references, but he's no closer to knowing who he actually is, what he actually is, so many gaps in his memory, it all remains elusive. With Saran's imminent departure to college, more questions arise. And then a stranger comes to town....Merely by his cryptic words and touch, memories suddenly surface and Landon's tenuous grasp on peace is shattered.
But the plot thickens, seriously thickens, the evil Marcus schemes a new way to get to Landon and Sarah. What appears to be innocuous and helpful, isn't, like Vanessa, Sarah's new roommate at the university, like Prof Whitman offering Landon to complete his studies, shoo, I wanted to scream out "DANGER! DANGER!" What's worse is that Landon knows something isn't kosher, not with Vanessa and not with Dr Whitman but, a very apt sentence in the book states "curiousity drives the wounded mind" and Landon's is, very wounded. Gosh do I love his character! How wonderfully complete all these characters 3, ALL of them, besides me being completely taken with Landon and Sarah, I have a soft spot for Zacharias, there's something special about him, he's an awesome voice of reason.
Now separated, as was the wont of the "others", a multi targeted approach on both fronts, I really enjoyed the realistic uncertainty of Sarah and Landon, the trying to piece together what was thrown at them, the trying to be objective, standing up for what they believed in, the way their faith was challenged at every turn, the seeds of doubt sown trying to take hold, but being blasted by the strength of their faith. And when Mephisto re-emerged, oh my hat! No words, just pounding! So, once more, Sarah and Landon need to bring in big guns, need to try get rid of him and GOSH does the author get the adrenaline pumping! In this convoluted plot, which transcends beyond the classic "good vs evil", the mystery of Landon's past, the determination of Lucifer to "have" Sarah, converge into a mighty battle. There are so many messages I see personally through a Judah Lamb book, not subliminal messages trying to convince me but thought provoking, needing to stop and let it wash over me, much as Landon and Sarah do. But the joy, the sheer emotions I feel, this beacon of light, encasing me.
Phew! So much happens in this book, which is kind of normal for this author but his storytelling prowess, oh my goodness, magnificent! The blend of theology, religion and fantasy is fascinatingly compelling, I betcha your heart rate will be elevated, I betcha your jaw will unhinge....Each time I read a Judah Lamb book, I feel faith strengthening, I feel a renewed sense of hope. His flowing prose is riveting, it sucks me in like a whale sucks in plankton. Yes, there are many biblical, yes, there are many frantically intense scenes but these books are uplifting, inspiring, I always come away feeling whole, feeling restored. In the ratrace of todays world, with all the strife around us, with all the problems one faces, after a read such as this, even though I'm aware every individual takes away something different from a read, I feel cleansed, invigorated, at peace. This quote really resonates "Without truth, righteousness falters, faith wavers". I am waiting with baited breath for the next book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A raw, spiritual gut-check wrapped in edge-of-your-seat suspense Let me just say this: Lux in Tenebris didn’t just entertain me—it challenged me. I don’t mean in a “pause and reflect” kind of way, I mean I had to put the book down at moments and really sit with myself. Judah Lamb doesn’t just write Christian suspense—he writes soul-stirring, heart-rattling warfare with teeth. This is book four in the Landon Walker series, and by now, I thought I knew what I was walking into. I was wrong. This one hit harder, darker, and more personal than I was prepared for. Landon and Sarah aren’t just fighting the usual suspects—they’re fighting ancient, creeping, seductive evil that knows exactly how to slip past the defenses and whisper lies that feel like truth. And honestly? It reminded me of a few battles I’ve had in my own life—where the attacks don’t come with fangs and fire, but with doubt and loneliness. Their return to college felt like a setup for healing… until it twisted into a battlefield. Professors, peers, even the people they thought they could lean on? All suspect. I was side-eyeing every character like I was solving a murder mystery at Bible study. The tension is real. And the way Lamb shows how subtle deception can dismantle faith if you're not grounded? Whew. That wasn’t just fiction—that felt like testimony. There’s so much at stake in this book. Not just life and death, but soul-deep love and identity. And watching Landon and Sarah hold onto each other while the world tries to tear them apart? Beautiful and agonizing. They’re not perfect, and that’s exactly why I love them. They doubt, they struggle, they fall—but they fight. For their faith. For each other. For the light. If you're looking for a Christian thriller that doesn't water down the spiritual battle, but also doesn’t forget the importance of love, redemption, and real human struggle—Lux in Tenebris is it. It doesn’t just ask “can they survive?”—it asks “can we?” And if you're anything like me, you'll come out the other side of this book a little shaken, a little stronger, and absolutely ready for the next fight.
Both Sarah and Landon are going back to school: Sarah for her first year, and Landon to finish the classes he needs to graduate. Landon worries about Sarah after dropping her off at the college and makes unsuccessful attempts to get in touch with her. He wants to alert Sarah because he thinks she is in danger.
Landon contacts someone he believes could help him assess whether his worries about Sarah are unfounded and, if needed, help him locate her. However, his attempts go answered. What is going on? Is Sarah only too busy to take Landon's calls, or is she in trouble?
The fourth book in Judah Lamb's The Unfallen and Landon Walker Thrillers Series is Lux in Tenebris. I was captivated by every word of Sarah and Landon's stories because I was curious to find out more about Landon's past. I wanted to know more about the demons that were after them and why, as well as what was going on in their lives.
As I read on, I became more and more engrossed in Sarah and Landon's universe, which was full of surprises that kept me on edge from the very first to the very last page. I could easily picture everything happening in my head as if I were there because the world-building was so nicely done.
Lux in Tenebris was so enjoyable to read that I am eager to see what is in store for us in Extra Nos, the following book in the series. I heartily endorse picking up a copy of Lux in Tenebris today!
As Landon and Sarah both decide to return to their studies, and accept that they will live apart for a while, darkness attacks them again. Seems that they are both targetted once more, and that both professors and fellow students are trying to do their best to undermine their beliefs, and throw a wedge in their relationship. Mephisto is back at work, doing his utmost to get his old vessel back, seems he cannot accept that Landon has since his baptism become even stronger in his faith in Christ. When an overwhelming attack of the dark against the light takes place at Sarah's university they know that they cannot prevail on their own so call in the big guns. Their old friend and mentor, as well as the priest they'd met in Rome, who was an old colleague of Landon, and is now an exorcist are called to their aid. The battle is massive, but it becomes revolutionary as students who were former disbelievers, and a university which was totally secular, turns to prayer groups and a rise in faith. Seems God really works in mysterious ways. This battle might be won, but the devil does not rest, and both Landon and Sarah know they have to remain vigilant for the next attack. This christian thriller is riveting, this book is very dark, and the exorcism is scary, and I am dying to read the next book in this compelling series.
The fourth installment in Judah Lamb's The Unfallen and Landon Walker Thrillers series, titled Lux in Tenebris, captivated me from beginning to end. I found myself deeply engaged in Sarah and Landon's narratives, particularly intrigued by Landon's past and the motivations behind the demons pursuing them, as well as the complexities of their lives.
This book offers a refreshingly encouraging perspective. Despite the dramatic elements , it resonates with the challenges of real life. As I navigate my own recovery from a brain tumor, I found the themes of faith intertwined with spiritual warfare particularly poignant. It serves as a reminder that God is ever-present, highlighting the tactics the devil employs to tempt us, while emphasizing the importance of prayer, scripture, and seeking divine guidance.
Judah's exceptional scholarship is evident in this narrative, which skillfully blends teleological discourse with a practical examination of the struggle between faith and the secular/liberal agenda, particularly in academia, that seeks to undermine opposing beliefs. This is a recurring theme I frequently observe in my coaching practice.
Lux in Tenebris was such a compelling read that I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, Extra Nos. This series is undoubtedly a worthy addition to any collection
I found this book refreshingly encouraging. With all the drama in the book (and series) minus demon expulsion, I found it to reflect real life. (Which currently is tough for me. ) This book reminds me of CS Lewis scewtape letters and Frank Paretti (sp?) Books. Faith meets spiritual warfare. A reminder God is with us, tactics the devil uses to entice us, as well as to pray, read scripture, and look to God for answers.
I also found this book semi realistic as college is a place so many are pulled away from church and God. Kids not firm in faith leave and start questioning how they were raised and are often surrounded by people trying to pull them away from God. Which for even a strong Christian can be hard
Book is an afternoon or 2 read pretty easy. (I started at 4 finished at 10:30) they are addictive with lots of action and realistic characters.

Sarah is going to University and Landon has been offered a chance to continue his study online by a professor who taught him at St Thomas's. But talking to the professor has brought more disjointed memories to Landon's mind. Plus Landon senses that there is something not right with Sarah room mate Vanessa. Sarah is ignored during a study group because of her faith. Landon's professor is blowing hot and cold, one time he is all praise for Landon the next he throws scorn Landon's way. But the forces of evil are gathering at the University, it all starts at a party that Vanessa insists Sarah and Landon attend. It quickly becomes a nightmare scenario. Landon calls in reinforcements...his friend Sciplini the priest from Rome who just happens to be in the USA near where they are and Zacharias. Lets just say that the end of the book is full of suspense and I cant wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens to Sarah and Landon.

Strongest book in the series. The author has the protagonists, Landon and Sara, going back to school. They are not putting the past behind them but trying to move forward. But evil has not gone away, and much of what they see/experience is not what it seems. Great blend of teleological discussion (Judah really is a gifted scholar) and the practical battle between faith and the secular/liberal push (especially in academia) to discredit opposing beliefs. It is particularly interesting when Sarah expresses her faith – as is all-too-familiar now, the response from academics is to treat her like an ignorant child for not seeing their way. Complex and thoughtful – interesting discussion material with others I know.
Landon and Sarah enthusiastically return to their studies. Sarah starts at Kansas University; Landon takes two of the three courses online he needed in order to graduate from St. Thomas. Their instructors have no interest, if not a negative interest, in the Light of Christianity. What ki d of Shadows are involved?
How much trouble can there be? Do you really need to ask? This is the story of Landon and Sarah. They have already seen the Shadows and have managed to escape with the help of friends. Will their friends be enough to help them against this assault?
Lux in Tenebris: (Landon Walker Thrillers Book 4) , my seventy-ninth read from author Theophilus Monroe, the fourth under his nom-de-plume Judah Lamb. Incredible and gripping from the first pages, another well written & enjoyable read, 626-pages but reads longer due to the depth ot the writing. I was given a complementary Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Extra Nos: (Landon Walker Thrillers Book 5) , when it's released on July 31, it's already on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
"Lux in Tenebris: A Christian Supernatural Thriller" is the fourth installment in the Landon Walker Thrillers series. This book serves up another captivating chapter in the ongoing saga. Judah Lamb advances the narrative by exploring the evolving relationship between Landon Walker and his girlfriend, Sarah. Their struggle against Lucifer and his followers persists, with the stakes rising and the danger intensifying. From the very first page, this gripping thriller keeps readers on edge.

A very moving story. Sarah has gone to college as she has always wanted but it is unsettling in ways she had not expected. Landon is contacted by a professor from his old college to complete his degree. He decides to take the three courses needed on line. What they don't realize is that literally all Hell is going to break loose when Landon goes to visit Sarah. I found that the fact that this review was submitted on Pentecost is very apropos to the story line as God gives us guidance through the Holy Spirit.
A powerful book. It gets dark pretty quick. Then, unbelievably, darker still. Then…light. Sarah and Landon find themselves tested everywhere they turn. It is interesting that these forces of evil are so focused on them. I wonder why. I do find it interesting that demons in literature seem to focus on small victories instead of a more widespread approach. Probably because they can’t come out of the shadows and must work within limitations that God doesn’t have. I just find that interesting. This was a very exciting and gripping book!
Landon is sad. Sarah has been accepted to Kansas State University and he is going to miss her. Plus, he doesn't like that they will be separated; it's not safe. A battle between good and evil happens on campus during the weekend Landon drives to the University to be with Sarah. Landon, Sarah, Zacharias, and Father Sciplini battle for the souls of many students, the first being Vanessa, Sarah's roommate. This story includes plenty of action, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

The way the author sets out the struggle to be Christian (or religious) in this secular world really hits home, although my life is a lot less action-packed than what happened at Kansas University in this book. This book belongs on the same shelf of Frank Peretti's works or Declan Finn's Saint Tommy of New York series. What can I say about this? Wow, just wow....
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lux in Tenebris Book 4 of Landon Walker Thrillers by Theophilus Monroe (Judah Lamb) is another gripping suspense drama that I could not put down! Mr. Monroe knows how to weave a tale that keeps you on the edge and doesn't let you go, I can't wait for more! I highly recommend this author and series!
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving my review freely.
Landon and Sarah are fighting spirits everyday. They are both continuing on with their lives. Both studying hard and coming against principalities, powers and spirits of wickedness. Each has a stumbling block in their paths. Will they be able to discern the spirits and overcome?.

I think this book is the strongest in the series. Lamb brings us so much depth and texture woven into a beautiful tapestry of a tale. With more details from the characters' backstories and exciting hazards they are currently facing, it's hard to put down.
It is always great to see how in each of his books it gets more in depth on how the spiritual realm can influence the physical. This one is no different.

4th book of another amazing series by Mr. Lamb. Don't let the Christian label deter you from reading these. These are amazing stories in an amazing series! Read these. You won't be disappointed.
