Teen Skincare by Caroline Hirons is a practical and accessible guide packed with advice, tips and information to help teenagers understand and look after their skin.
What I particularly liked about this book is the no-nonsense approach. There is so much skincare advice aimed at teenagers online, particularly on TikTok and social media, that it can be difficult to know what is actually helpful and what is simply another viral trend. Caroline Hirons cuts through that noise and explains things in a straightforward and easy-to-understand way.
The book covers different skin types and concerns, with clear explanations and plenty of photographs and illustrations to help make the information easy to follow. Whether it's dealing with breakouts, understanding what products actually do, building a simple routine or learning which skincare myths to ignore, there is plenty here for teenagers to take away.
I also appreciated that the focus isn't on achieving 'perfect' skin. Instead, the message is about understanding your own skin, looking after it properly and developing sensible habits that can last a lifetime. The advice feels realistic rather than overwhelming, and the emphasis on affordable and practical choices makes it much more accessible.
What makes this more than just a skincare guide is the way it acknowledges that being a teenager can be difficult. Skin problems can have a real impact on confidence, and social media can make young people feel as though everyone else has flawless skin. This book helps to challenge those unrealistic expectations and encourages teenagers to feel comfortable in their own skin rather than constantly trying to change it.
I think this would also be a really useful book for parents. Sometimes knowing how to advise a teenager about skincare can be difficult, particularly with so many products and conflicting opinions available. This provides a sensible starting point and could even encourage some great conversations about skincare, self-care and confidence.
Overall, Teen Skincare is an informative, reassuring and easy-to-use guide that takes the confusion out of looking after teenage skin. It doesn't promise miracles or perfection; instead, it gives teenagers the knowledge and confidence to make sensible choices for themselves. A useful book for teenagers and parents alike, and one I wish had been around when I was younger!

A massive thank you again to @hqstories and Caroline for this gifted copy of the book. 💕 It was such a lovely surprise, and the goodies are absolutely divine!
This guide is fantastic! A true skincare “bible” for anyone who’s new to skincare (you’re never too old to start!), but it’s especially perfect for the teens in your life (who it’s aimed at).
The chapters are brilliantly organised into easy-to-follow sections, with colourful illustrations that help guide the reader through everything they need to know. I also loved how vibrant and engaging the whole book is.
It covers skin types, common skin conditions, hormones and, most importantly, the impact of social media (along with many other important subjects). These are all such important topics when it comes to understanding your skin and finding the right skincare routine for you.
I absolutely loved reading this and picked up some really useful tips along the way. I already know exactly who I’ll be buying this for - it’s officially been added to my Christmas gift list! 🎄✨
