I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO where I grew up with four older brothers. I now reside in Overland Park, Kansas. I'd always loved to write as a child. My teachers would call home not because I was in trouble but because I had a creative imagination and they wanted my parents to know about the crazy stories I was writing. I've always been a hard worker. I started working with my family's company when I was 15 and still haven't stopped. I am a wife, mother of two, hold down a full time job and am now trying to be a indie author. I have a passion for reading and before I started writing I could be found with a Kindle in my hand morning, noon and night. I'm a picky reader so it's hard to please me but I feel like I have a keen eye for a good book.
I hope you all will join me on my new journey as I release my first book Fearless Love. It can be very scary but with my passion for the written word I hope it will be well worth it.
She's done it again! Fantastic book, I loved every minute of it.
Sydney moves to Las Vegas for a new start, running away from a nightmare she is desperately trying to forget. Thinking she is getting the perfect female roommate, she instead walks in to find Damien. A tattooed sex-a-holic with a revolving bedroom door. Damien doesn't do relationships, ever. But that's ok, Syd isn't wanting any type of relationship after what happened to her.
The banter between the two as they start up a friendship is hilarious. Damien is always accusing her of being prude and having a stick up her ass.
"Well, we're even because you, my friend, have a stick so far up your ass I can almost see it coming out the other side."
Syd doesn't tell him about Wes and why she ran away. However it doesn't take long for him to figure out that she is hiding something when the text's start coming in and the nightmares start. When I first started the book I was all little worried because Syd seemed to just get over what happened and not deal with it. But throughout the book, you could she was dealing with it in her own way, trying to be strong and get past it. While she still suffers the side effects, she does do her best to move on and start a new life for herself.
I was not damaged, but I wasn't broken.
Damien is a singer in a rock band, and one of my favorite parts of the book was when Syd finally admitted that he was good and she was fangirling over him, that part was hilarious. As most relationships have bumps in the road, these two seem to have mountains to get over, but they do and their story is really sweet and romantic.
Overall, this was a great friends to lovers story. The characters have great chemistry and are very relatable. I loved their ending - they got their "special". I also enjoyed learning about Damien's family throughout the book. (PS - they need their own books!) Everyone should check out this book, you'll love it!

Peeps this tatooed bad boy player shows us he is way more than that when the right girl comes along!! Damien.....has a very special Jacob's Ladder for your pleasure and boy does he please!! I loved this story and the only reason why not 5 stars was for some editing issues. Go read this one!! This book does cum with the special D.R.I.P. Warning!!!
I wanted to read this novel because a story that has "a tattoo artist by day and a musician by night" (and don't forget to total man-whore) is right up my alley :D
So World meet Damien Blue, one hot guy with a revolving bedroom door that might be just a tinny it's bitsy obsessed with sex...and only sex...
Sydney Summers moves to Las Vegas to start her life all over again after she was A mix-up brings her to Damien's door as his new roommate and that's where the story starts.
I really liked the book but I couldn't give it more then 3 stars because there where (of course!) some things I didn't like. For start, she kept telling him he was a pig...sure she was right but I've never read so many times the word pig in a novel in like never...it was too much...
Also, their relationship seemed a little forced...they go from him having a lot of one night stands to offering to raise the baby that isn't his with her and promising forever...
But the book had just the right amount of action and also hot sex so if this sounds like your coup of tee totally go for it ;)

A story about a young woman that experiences the very worst possible thing that could happen to her and the sexy tattoo'd man ho that ends up showing her that she can still have "special" in her life.
A warning though.. this book starts out with a very serious assault scene. It's in your face and pretty brutal. Those with triggers to these situations may want to skip the prologue or at least proceed with caution.
Sydney Summers.. she's leaving Detroit and her living nightmare behind and moving to Las Vegas for a new start. A new apartment.. new roommate..a new life...
Damien Blue... a sexy tattoo artist by day and sings in a rock band at night. A complete man ho who's pecker probably should have fallen off a long time ago...
Sydney shows up I Las Vegas at the apartment she found online through a roommate finder website.. she thinks she's getting a chic and Damien thinks he's getting a guy. Imagine the surprise when Sydney knocks on his door.. And they were like oil and water. Sydney pretty much disliked him immediately. One of his skank ho's answered the door to her rather rudely; giving Sydney a rather bad first impression of Damien. And Damien felt like Sydney had a stick up her ass. She was rude right back and really not very friendly at all. This is a point I had a slight disconnect with the story. For a good portion of the story I just couldn't connect with Sydney and Damien. Part of me was trying very hard to sympathize with Sydney and what she went through. That would give major cause to any woman to be stand offish, rude, unfriendly..etc. with anyone of the opposite sex. But Sydney chose to move across the country and chose to move in with this strange man that she knew nothing about.. after what happened to her. So that was a bit of an issue with me.
OK.. moving on.. Once Sydney began to thaw out with Damien and Damien's fuck fest revolving door slowed down ( dude was banging a different chic every night) I started feeling more invested in the story.
Damien has no idea what happened to Sydney..but he knows its something bad.. she's having nightmares and getting secret texts that make her verbally ill. Once Damien finds out what happened, he's full on alpha protective mode and will do anything to protect her..He's starting to fall hard for her...
“I want you to listen to me and listen real good.” I brushed my hand on her cheek as I stared deep into her eyes. “I’m a simple person. Guys are fucking simple, so you should take their words at face value because usually, what we are saying is real. Fucking real. So here it goes. I may sound like a pussy, but I’m going to lay it all out. You’ve come into my life like a ball of thunder. You have turned my world upside down and made me feel things I never would’ve imagined. And I’m not talking about sexually, although I wouldn’t mind that.”
Just when you think Sydney couldn't take any more set backs.. she's hit with more devastation.. but this time Damien wants to be there for her and show her that he's for real. They've got some major obstacles in there way and Damien is going to have to do a lot to prove to Sydney that it's really possible to have a happily ever after..
Yes, I struggled with some parts of this book but in the end, it was sweet story and I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more from Kennedy!
I really liked this book! It starts off with a bang. And though it was hard to read it really starts you off having a lot of respect for Sydney. At first I did not like Damien he was such a jerk. He and Sydney (Syd) find themselves roomies by mistake but decide to do it any way. Damien was such a man whore. He would bring skanks home and fuck them and they were both so loud Sydney couldn't sleep some nights EWE!!! He even sleeps with a co-worker of hers even though it isn't a big deal in the book I thought it was awkward. So anyway Damien and Sydney actually start to become friends. Damien is really sweet to her dog Zues AKA rat. (That's what Damien calls him lol) Thats where you really start to fall in love with these two. I thought the author did a good job in making us believe these two could be together even after all they have been through. And let me tell you, there is a twist in here which I won't give it away but I do not know what I would do in Sydney's or Damien's position. I enjoyed this alot and a big thanks to the author for the ARC!!
I really hate DNFing books, especially at 10% like I did with this one. I’ve never DNFed a book this early into reading it… But I just couldn’t stand the flow of the book, the way both characters acted, thought and talked. I’m no prude, but to have every other word be an explicative not only coming out of the characters mouths but also present in their thoughts as well was quite excessive.
There was a lot of contradictions within the first few chapters. Not to mention the prologue which comes right out of left field to slap me in the face. There needs to be a warning for that! It’s a trigger for people!
I do condone Sydney for not letting the trauma she experience ruin her life, although it does kinda rule it. She has night terrors, and swears off men. But two seconds later she’s checking out Damien.
Damien was so full of himself it wasn’t even funny. He sees himself as a man-whore, with a revolving door of women. I’ve never seen someone so full of themselves in my life.
The dialogue was some of the most awkward and forced I have ever seen. Even the writing itself seemed really off. There were many grammatical mistakes, words and sentences didn’t flow, or even make much sense sometimes. I’m not sure how extensively this was edited, but it really needs another go through.
This is a beautiful, heartbreaking, sweet, sexy, and naughty story about two broken people who find friendship and healing from one another. This book is NOT your typical love story and has so many twists and turns that it will have you gripping the edge of your seat wanting to get to the end and find out what is going to happen. This book was also naughty and totally sinful with the delicious Damien.
This is Damien and Sydney's story. Sydney is on the run from an abusive man. When she finds a place to settle with an apartment and new roommate, she thinks things are finally looking up. But when a mix up happens and her girl roommate turns into a guy who is a man whore, Sydney's life is about to get interesting. But as Damien and Sydney grow closer, despite their obvious love/hate relationship, feelings start to develop on both sides and it is only a matter of time before the sparks ignite between these two. But things can never be that easy and with a stalker and some serious "issues" happening, will these two be able to weather the storm and get their happy ending? Will Sydney learn what the right kind of love is?
Ok so I will say while I liked a lot about Damien, I didn't like the women who paraded in front of her. I mean he obviously had feelings and tried to purge her from his mind the WRONG way. With that said, Damien totally redeemed himself and I ended up loving him. God the man was perfect after he got his shit together. I also liked Sydney and admired her strength, perseverance and motivation to move her life forward and remain strong.
I highly recommend this book!
And I am pleading with the author to PLEASE make this a series because each Blue boy and the Blue girl need their OWN stories! PLEASE! Nothing was mentioned at the end of this book so it would be awesome to get that!
This is Author Kennedy Kelly's second released novel, and I have to say, I LOVED this plot so much more than her debut novel even! I fell in love with Damien Blue - man-whore that he was, he didn't ascribe to being anything different. But his heart, wow! He had a beautiful heart and Syd captured it sooner than even he knew!
Syd's past is a dark and treacherous one, and she does her best to escape it by starting fresh in a new place, but as we know, there is no escaping the demons that left their scars. I loved the way that these two loved one another, and there are more stories that can certainly unfold from this one!
The chemistry was there, the intimacy between the characters developed nicely and believably for the most part.
There were two things that kept this book from being a full 5-stars:
1. Editing issues with grammar, punctuation, spelling, i.e., "dear" instead of "deer," "rang" instead of "wrung," "lose" instead of "loose", "lead" instead of "led," "patients" instead of "patience" (and this was just in one chapter so it distracted me a bit with the reading.)
2. Redundancy in dialogue. Too much repetition of certain dialogue, i.e, so many references to Zeus as a "rat"; calling one another "diva" and "pig"-- I think that serves to make the dialogue too stilted, and the characters too one-dimensional.
Aside from those two things, which are easily resolved, this is a 5-star book!
ARC given by Netgalley in return for a honest review
This is a story of a beautifully damaged young woman named Sydney (Syd) and a oh so sexy manwhore named Damien
Sydney has just went thru somethig very tramatic.. she has decided she is moving to Vegas..(via a draw from a hat) She is ready for a new go at life.. a fresh start so to speak.. When she gets to Vegas ready to meet her new roommate..she knocks on the door and is greeted by a female whome she thinks is her new roomie.. NOPE she gets the door slammed in her face... she knocks again.. this time she is greeted by the oh so sexy.. tatted up sex god Damien..
I enjoyed how these two started out pretty much dealing with each other the then became friends.. I loved the nick manes they had for each other.. and how he called her dog "the rat".. eventually they grew into great friends.. but you could soooo see the sexual frustration these two were dealing with.. One night Syd has a horriable nightmare.. (her tragic incident) and Damien is there for her.. He knows something is going on.. she just wont tell.. Eventually she tells him.. when the nightmares are sooo bad and she starts getting threating texts.. Damien is bound and determined to help and protect her..
I absoutly love this one.. From the first time I saw this book was coming out I knew I had to read it.. Thank you again for allowing me the opportunity. Now off to read book 2 with Bee & Justice
I have to say I fell in love with this story early on, it was easy to read and follow and loved it. My emotions were grabbed through the very beginning and I felt so much reading the characters. I read this book in less than 24 hours, because I was so captivated by the story. Sydney has just had a horrible act done to her and she is trying to make a fresh start. She moves to Las Vegas to put things behind her and move on. Sydney gets into town and goes straight to her new apartment and meets her new roommate. Somehow things got messed up and the agency assigns her a male instead of a female roommate. Damien Blue, hot and sexy and every girls dream! Damien is a band and he is a tattoo artist, and lets not forget a playboy. They do not match to well with their personalities, and clash quite often, but they are drawn to one another. Sydney has many bad dreams of what happened to her and Damien is there to comfort her and wants to help her through her problems. She is still being haunted by the person that has caused her so much harm not just in dreams, but in her life. Damien will protect her no matter what and things start heating up. I think the story was very well written and it is a wonderful story of love and how accepting it can be. I would definitely recommend this book and would give it more than 5 stars if I could!
Loved this sweet & twisted story. Damien and Sydney both have their own issues. Damien has his series of one-night stands while Sydney has sworn off men.
Damien and Sydney are going to share an apartment but are not happy about it. With Damien's revolving door Sydney wonders if she will ever get any sleep. Damien wants to know why Sydney is having nightmares and acting weird.
Can they overcome all the odds against them and end up together?
Damien is a man-whore but he grows on you with his sweet and compassionate side. Sydney is strong but not sure she knows just how strong she was until she needed to pull on that strength.
I highly recommend this.
Hope the author writes about the rest if Damien's family as you got to know them all a little in the story. It would be great to get to know them all better!! Hint Hint!!
An absolutely amazing read that will leave you wanting more!
This book sucked me in from the very first page and I just devoured it. I was a little worried when I first picked it up as I was head over heels in love with this authors first book and I was worried that this one wouldn't compare. Well I shouldn't have worried because Kennedy Kelly has knocked it out of the park yet again!!!
I always love a book that has an excellent back story to it and this is one of the best I have read. There was such depth to the story that it was impossible to not get sucked right into each and every moment of this book.
The characters were amazing and easy to relate too. At the beginning of the book the sexual tension was enough to drive me mad so when it was time to break that tension I was so high strung I about fell off the couch :)
I cannot wait to see what else this Author has in store for us. She belongs at the top of the charts with the greats!
Mrs. Kelly is quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary authors. This is the second book she has written, and she seems to be developing into an even better writer with each book.
The Right Kind of Love has everything I love in a contemporary-romance; intrigue, suspense, a feisty female lead, a lethario male lead that turns in his player card, s little playing hard to get by the leads, surprise twists, a pregnancy, capped off by a proposal.
I cannot wait for Mrs. Kennedy's next book and I hope to see some additional work based upon the family in this book.
The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars was because of the few grammatical errors and misspellings. I do realize that is mostly up to the editor though and it didn't take away from my experience. Let's call it a 4.5 star.
The most unlikable main characters I have ever read! Damien was just an asshat, constantly having a revolving door of women in and out of his bedroom, he did this for a little over 50% of the book and then it was like he flipped a switch and now....ALL he wants is Sydney. Then she finds out shes preggers and he is like I want to be the father, nobody needs to know its not mine. Constantly call the baby his and ours, just unbelievable that a man whore all the sudden wants a relationship and then throw a baby on top of that. Just plain effen Crazy! Oh and the amount of drinking that Sydney did b4 she found out she was pregnant, the baby would have been born with fetal alcohol syndrome! And Sydney was just a * ucking *itch. This book just pissed me the hell off! Just not for me, on to the next book.
To me this book had a lot of potential. The characters seem strong and the theme was going well. Damian being that hot rock star persona has a lot going for him. With a revolving door of women? Who needs a realtionship!! There are some things through out this read that screamed to me "new writer". A lot of things were repeated a lot and just seemed un-necessary. Sydney having a traumatic experience has things to work for to bring her life around and feel better about the move. Damian and the rock group did not get to see much action towards the middle or ending. This read felt a little rushed and just seemed to not have any build up or thorough follow through!! Could have been so mucg more!
I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest opinion. Thank you Net Galley!!
Sydney and Damien are thrown together because of a mistake, but in the end it was the best mistake of their lives. They start off hating each other, then friendship starts things off slowly but when they finally get together, watch out. The story was well written with enough drama and little twists to keep it interesting. This was the first book I read by Kennedy Kelly but it won't be the last.
Kennedy Kelly has done it again. With her second book The Right Kind Of Love she has made you laugh, made you cry and broken your heart. I loved Sydney, Brecken and Quinn. Just when you think love wins out tragedy strikes. This is a great read. Enjoy!
This was my first time reading something from Kennedy Kelly and let me tell you she didn’t disappoint. I believe I found a new member to my Book Boyfriend list. Yes! Damien Blue has swept me off my reading feet with his man-whore, charming and straight forward ways.
The Right Kind Of Love is hard to find specially after something tragic happens to you. But that is exactly what Sydney Summers finds.
She lives with her roommate and best friend in Detroit when she is violated by someone she thought cared about her. She runs away instead of facing her problems. She runs to the city of glitz and glam ,Las Vegas. Her strength to not let what happened to her destroy her is her drive to move and start fresh.
Sydney has a new job and a new room mate in a new city. She went into this thinking her new room mate was a girl named Dana and that Zeus (her dog) would be welcomed. Well she wasn’t expecting that she would actually be sharing an apartment with a man-whore who wasn’t so accepting of Zeus. Not only that but within the first hour of meeting each other they start to push each others buttons.
Damien Blue, tattoo artist and man-whore, wasn’t expecting a ******* female (his words) but here he was rooming with a girl with vibrant jade green eyes and a cute rat as a dog. He doesn’t know what it is about this girl that makes him push her buttons. But he thought she was cute when she was pissed. At the end he didn’t mind rooming with a chick as long as she didn’t cock block. He also had a feeling that something was off with Sydney. And he was gong to find out.
Sydney was tired since Damien had a revolving door in his bedroom. The noises she heard coming from his room were out of control and the bed hitting the wall every time he pounded into one of the skanks, didn’t allow much sleep. She couldn’t just pack up and move so she just had to deal.
They form a sort of friendship, which works out fine, But once Damien witnesses one of Sydney’s nightmares he has a protectiveness towards her. Which shocks him. Sydney also has this sense of protectiveness towards Damien, specially when his dad makes comment about his chosen profession. The revolving door in his bedroom isn’t so revolving anymore and Sydney notices. The more time they spent together the stronger the bond gets.
When Sydney gets a text from Wes, the man she thought cared for her and saw her as family turned rapist. Her body decide to respond to the message by making her sick. Damien is there for her and sees the text and knows that Wes is who she is running from but doesn’t know why. He vows to protect her from him. She doesn’t let him know what happened. He doesn’t need to know the fear in her eyes says it all.
Unexpectedly Sydney has to go home, there had been a incident. Damien having a gut feeling tags a long. She finally comes face to face with Wes. Damien is there holding her the whole time and the murderous looks Wes is sending Sydney do not escape him. When Wes approaches them and verbally assaults Sydney, Damien can’t stay quiet and stands up for her. Wes will not intimidate Sydney. Not while he is around. They go back home that night. Figuring out that Wes is a real threat to Sydney.
Wes doesn’t let up on harassing Sydney. That doesn’t stop Damien and Sydney from developing a strong relationship. Suddenly what Sydney thinks is a stomach flu turns into a baby conceived during the worst thing that has ever happened to her. Damien steps up and claims her and the baby as his own. She struggle with making a choice when it comes to the baby. Sydney also struggles to believe that Damien will welcome truly love the baby as his. And that is more hard to believe when a woman shows up with a baby boy and says that it’s Damien’s son. Their relationship is rocked by the news. Wes also finds Sydney and attacks her while she is pregnant. Damien rescues her but not before her water breaks and their baby girls is born.
With Wes in jail and no longer a threat Sydney can enjoy life with her new family. And it took The Right Kind Of Love to show her that life was beautiful after everything that happened.
This little gem was quietly released in 2014, however, thank goodness for the re-release in June 2015 as it recently caught my eye and damn if I was not a goner. I was surprised that I fell into step with this novel. It has a trope that I don’t particularly love “hero falls in love with impregnated heroine rape survivor and claims baby as his.” I am all for a knocked up heroines – hey, it tickles my fancy- but when you add to the mix a non-consensual sexual assault and the new, stand up guy laying claim to the kid- well, things get a little weird for me. That aside, Kennedy Kelly adeptly navigates these troubled waters and the outcome is a very well balanced, light, despite the darkness super romantic book that made me swoon several times over. Thanks to a twist of fate, Sydney and Damien are thrown together and couldn’t be more polar opposite. She is running from unimaginable pain and abuse, picking the pieces of her life up one shard at a time, while he is living la vida loca, a different woman to warm his bed each night. Running his own tattoo shop and jamming with his band, he is blindsided by Sydney and his fascination bonds him to her in ways that he is helpless to fight.
Their wary barbs and guarded banter soon grows into a budding friendship. What I appreciate about Sydney and Damien is that they have a solid foundation. There is insta-lust and mutual attraction, but they are well and truly friends that evolve into more. The author does a swell job of making me invest into these two characters and when they hurt, I railed, took sides and then yearned for them to patch their frayed edges. The Right Kind of Love, is a verrrry steamy and romantic contemporary romance with just a taste of obligatory danger. Right smack in the middle of their falling for one another, Sydney discovers her nightmare ex left her pregnant and scarred from his brazen attack. Damien is already all in and declares he is all for raising “their” baby. Fuzzy as my brain was, with all the yummy romance flying about, I put the brakes on and sought some clarity. Smitten, sure, but dude, you are ready to claim the baby as yours? That is a huge step! Tuck your raging boner away and THINK with the head that houses your brains! His unwavering acceptance felt like a misstep and I found it authentic that Damien’s loved ones and supporting characters were all like WTF!? He soundly shut them down, but I found it vital that someone voice my mental shouting. If everyone would have been non-plussed by Damien’s stepping up to father Sydney’s baby, it would have felt like a missed opportunity and bugged me the remainder of the novel.
Once I semi got over my wish washy feelings regarding rape-baby gate, I was able to settle back in and enjoy the story. Damien- overzealous papa to be- was such a nice guy. Though he was certainly maximizing his bachelor status when we first met him, he was still so damn likable and charming I easily forgave his debauched ways. Kind, protective and considerate, he was just what Sydney needed. Sydney was brave but not unrealistically resilient. She has some trauma to overcome and her strength was bolstered by her vulnerability. It was a very delicate balance that I relished. Though Damien quickly became a big part of her life, Sydney also had a support system that consisted of her best friend Bee, whose book is actually next in the series, Captivated by Your Love. Though there are some rough elements, I do not believe this book to be wholly triggering or especially dark. I felt good reading it from start to finish. It is a stand alone and does so just fine, though it is part of a series. No cliffhanger and a very decided and solid HEA, just the way I like it! If the trope is not too off-putting and you can appreciate a warm love story with fun banter and enough action to be interesting but not distracting, then I definitely recommend the Right Kind of Love.
Sydney had something exceptionally traumatic happen in her life and knew she needed to get out of Detroit and move away for a fresh start. With her dad dying a few years back and now her mom just passing away all she had was her best friend Bee and her stepdad. Sydney had picked from a hat and Las Vegas was going to be her new place at starting over and trying to forget what Wes had done to her. What better way than to find a place to live than by going through an online site. She had it all handled, a place to live and a job that was already set up and waiting for her.
I wished I would have the kind of dumb luck that Sydney had when it came to her roommate because she was shocked when she found out that her new roomie was this smoking hot guy who was a tattoo artist by day and a rock band member by night. But Sydney wasn’t considering herself too lucky at the time because with all the good that came with Damien he was a total manwhore. His bedroom was a revolving door for anything that was willing to deal with his one night stand rule. So it was night after night of no sleep for Sydney because of all of Damien’s noisy conquests. Nice thing for Damien was that Sydney was not only great to look at she had the kind of spitfire that he loved about a girl. They went head to head many times and he knew how to push her buttons just to get reaction from her. As time went on they settled in to their little arrangement and eventually Damien seen that there was a lot more to Sydney than her great looks and backbone. Damien also eventually learned of the reason that Sydney was in Vegas to start over and what and whom she was actually hiding from.
I really liked this book because of the path that it took which made it really hard to put down. You couldn’t wait to see if and when they would actually realize the feelings they had for each other and how they had to deal with Sydney’s past. Their banter was funny and their sex was pretty steamy. Add in suspense and this is a book that is definitely worth your time. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
This book was provided as an ARC by NetGalley for an honest review.
I'm usually sceptical about these type of books - where the girl is raped/kidnapped - so I was pleasantly surprised.
Sydney Summers just moved across the country to escape her past and her stepbrother Wes to start over new in Vegas. When she knocks on her new roommate's door, she's surprised to find out that her roomate isn't she but he.
Damien Blue is a tattoo artist/guitarist and a total man-whore. He's got different girl in his bed every night and he's not planning to change his ways anytime soon. Even having a girl as a roommate isn't going to stop him.
At first those two argue and banter just about everything. They gave each other cute nicknames: prude and pig. You can guess who is who. Oh, and Sydney's little chivauva Zeus is called rat. Well, pig calls him that. Prude thinks of Zeus as her child.
After while Damien stops whoring and his usually revolving bedroom door are actually closed. They become close friends and as their relationship form and grows so does the chemistry between them.
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. One second I'm laughing at their bickering and the other I'm feeling so sad and angry for Sydney.
In the end Sydney showed up to be a really strong and resilient. She took what she was handled and made the best out of it.
And I totally fell for Damien. Because even though he was a man-whore, he was caring, cute, funny, protective, family oriented and sexy as hell (he's got THE piercing!).
Although their relationship progressed pretty fast, it didn't seem unnatural and unbelievable as it often does.
I ate up the whole book. I went to sleep at 4am just because I had to finish it.
I enjoyed this book; the story was easy to relate to and grabbed me from the first page. The story opens with the horrific events that eventually cause Sydney to run and leave her past behind her. She picks up and moves to a new state for a new beginning all on her own. She lands a job very quickly before moving and has found a roommate to share an apartment with. Things seem to be starting off good for Sydney as she enters Las Vegas however that changes when she meets her roommate. Sydney was expecting a female by the name of Dana and Damien was expecting a male by the name of Syd. When the agency who helped them find each other cannot provide Sydney with another place to live immediately they agree to put things aside and try living together.
Damien is an obvious player; he likes women but never wants to commit. He has slept with many women but none for more than a single night. Sydney on the other hand has never had a one night stand and wants sex to mean something. These two couldn't be more opposite but a friendship quickly develops. Sydney eventually realizes that the way Damien acts is mostly just that, an act - that underneath the hardened appearance is a pretty good guy.
The relationship between Damien and Sydney is slow to develop however their friendship quickly grows. Damien realizes early on that he wants more than a one night stand with Sydney and quickly changes his behaviors.
This story is a great romantic read; the author does a wonderful job of developing both characters and letting the reader feel what the characters are going through. There were some touching scenes, some HOT intimate scenes and plenty of comedy thrown in along the way. I truly felt for Damien and loved that he became the stand up guy Sydney needed in the story.
