Jeder Mafioso in Italien will mich und meine Brüder tot sehen.
Ohne Fremdgehen. MIT Happy End.
Dieses Buch enthält Erwachseneninhalte, vulgäre Sprache, Gewalt und dunkle Liebesroman-Themen.
Skimmed after 80% or so. Once the h started crying after she asked the H if he loved her and was going to marry her after knowing each other for TWO WEEKS, I gave up all hope of this being a redeemable book.
The h was childish and a bit of an air head. You don’t really get to the know the H… he’s just broody and yells a lot, which I guess is supposed to translate to OTT/JP…..? I don’t know… like I said, I skimmed the last 60 pages of the book.
I rarely dnf books and when I do I NEVER add them into my Goodreads or even talk about them but I felt that it was necessary to start cause wtf was this.
Firstly, I’d like to state that I won’t be rating or adding this into my Goodreads 2024 goal cause I didn’t fully finish it. I did read a little bit over 50% of this so I feel that I am qualified to judge this.
For context, this is a mafia book, I’m assuming it’s dark romance or something. The mmc is the head of the mafia family and fmc is characterized as a innocent, religious girl. Fmc works at her dads restaurant and dislikes it and wants to do more with her life. She wants to travel, go out more and even wanted to attend college. Fmc saw someone get shot at her dads restaurant and ends up getting in the middle of mafia business. Mmc sees the Fmc and basically fell in love at first sight and fmc essentially gets kidnapped by the mafia.
1. According to the book fmc wanted to attend college but couldn’t cause she couldn’t afford it. What I’m wondering is how that dumbass even got in. I know the author tried to make her seem innocent and naive, but that doesn’t mean she has to be stupid. The fmc doesn’t even know parts of her genitalia and was confused when she heard the word clitoris. She was taught what that was by the maid. The maid even drew a picture of the vagina, which she called a “pussy” and the fmc blushed. BLUSHED AT THE WORD PUSSY :|
2. Mmc told fmc father that he won’t take fmc virginity unless she begs for it. This however did not stop him from touching without her consent, causing him to force her to undress and touch her. While he was doing that, she said “stop” through the entire thing and 3 times in which he respond to “no” each time. Welp, isn’t that attractive.
All in all, fmc is dumb not innocent. She allows herself to get pushed around (even by the maid). Mmc has no important qualities other than looking mad all the time and touching people without their permission. My question is when did dark romance authors decided that lack of consent is attractive and appealing. It doesn’t add anything to the story and is quiet boring (also repetitive).
Where do start. Am I reading The same book as everyone else? The layout is horrible written as sentences and very few if any paragraphs,. Written in first, third person and past tence its all over the place making it hard to read. The need to explain words they used is annoying. Can some explain how it's creepy that her father knows she's a virgin?
This is a Mafia Romance, and this is the first book in the Mafia Kings series. I did enjoy the story in this book. The main female character in this book drove me crazy because she acted much younger than she was. I just wanted to tell her you cannot be this dumb. You do slowly learn more about her, and that information helps you kindof understand why she acts much younger than she really is. I know what was going on in this book, and some of the twists super early in the book. This is not my favorite book I have read, but it also is not the worst book.
Just bad. Writing wasn't good. Juvenile writing, and heroine acted like a 13 year old. Also wasn't a fan of hero insinuating that a woman isn't a woman just because of how skinny she is.
This reads more "old world" than contemporary. The only thing that reeked of modernity was the references to cell phones and security cameras.
Alessandra was not only a virgin, she was a sheltered and ignorant one. An "innocent good Catholic girl" who doesn't seem to realize women have clothing options outside of dresses.
I don't mind a virgin story, but I prefer my virgins to be aware of their own bodies and a little more modern in their behavior and thoughts. At least in contemporary novels.

5 stars! Why? Because it made me cry! I love a story that makes you feel the emotions. And it takes place in Italy...in Tuscany! I loved this one.
About the book:
Dario is book #1 in Thorn's Mafia Kings series. Six brothers with deceased parents and one good friend (considered a brother). After the father's death, the territories and businesses the famiglia owned/ran are split equally, half going to an uncle (the father's brother and former consiglieri and the other half to the six sons. The eldest, Dario (MMC), has just gotten out of prison (took the fall for the family) and has been voted new Don (leader) of their territories by his brothers. But there are those who think the brothers are weak and see an oppurtunity to get rid of them and take over their territories. Who could it be? The uncle, one of the other famiglias in Northern Italy, an outsider trying to move in?
She, Alessandra (MFC), is 22. She was raised by her father (mother died when she was 12). They live near a small town somewhere in Tuscany. She goes to church every Sunday and helps her father everyday in his little cafe in the middle of nowhere Tuscany, waiting tables and serving clients while her father cooks. She's a good girl, innocent and pious. She's never been anywhere and really, around where she lives, there isn't much to get into trouble or go astray...no boys...nothing.
She witnesses a murder in her father's cafe. Shortly after the police have gone, three more strangers (3 of the brothers) enter the cafe. Her father is questioned about the murdered man but claims not to know him. They believe he knows something. Rather than beat the old man until he talks (as suggested by one brother), the leader, Dario, decides to take Alessandra until her father is willing to talk. The father begs for his daughter, saying she is an innocent virgin, a good girl and he knows the Don's reputation. Dario promises he won't take her virginity until she begs him to do so. Prophetic words! He didn't promise not to do everything he could to entice her and oh does he!
What I loved about this story:
Her transition - from innocent to begging is so seemless you don't realize it's happening until it does..and then you think...yeah..that makes sense. It's a series of events that peak her curiosity along with a slow seduction. Hot and steamy!
The emotion - especially when she questions whether she means anything to him at all and confesses her love and what happens after. I cried like a baby.
Excitement - Plenty of threats (some veiled), lots of danger (shootouts & more), unkown adversaries (who's out to destroy them) and long held secrets (I'm not telling).
Conclusion:
This story is well written, the pace is fast and it holds your interest (read this in one day). It's the perfect read when you want something hot, exciting, and with emotion, but not a lot of angst.
I love all the brothers, including the one not blood related. Each has his own unique character and personality; and I'm truly looking forward to reading their stories! 5 stars for this one!
I appreciate a good mafia crime story, but this wasn’t that. The don and his brothers unfortunately came across somewhat weak, more like young wannabe gangsters. And the heroine was too unbelievably innocent and had a number of TSTL moments throughout the book which just made me sigh. The story took place in Italy and I could tell the author was going for a more old world mafia vibe but the handling of it was not well done. The sex between Dario and Alessandra was well written though, so that seems to be more the author’s strength. 2.5 stars
twitter advised this quote “i want you to love me,” i sobbed. “i want you to want to marry me.” and i was foolish enough to think it'd have good angst smh
This wasn’t bad, but it also felt too long for the style. For an over 200 page book I needs more depth. I love me a quick OTT instalove, but it needs to be much shorter.
The heroine’s personality didn’t hit for me either. She was all over the place. Felt weak one minute and then all of a sudden overly strong.
Dario takes Alessandra as collateral when she witnesses a hit he ordered. As their relation begins to flourish within the walls of his home, enemies from other families may endanger the future they have ahead.
mafia romance no cheating HEA forced proximity found family grumpy x sunshine if you love her let her go kidnapping opposites attract touch her and die virgin FMC
DnF “You will be my whore,” I whispered. “But only for me… and no one else.” I be like WTF man are you for real BTW he said that to her in front of his brothers and her own father
Dario is the first thrilling installment in Olivia Thorn’s Mafia Kings series. After the Rosolini family take Alessandra away from her father to encourage the old man to think of some details about a criminal, it’s not long before she and Dario Rosolini are in a romance - sparks flying! When Alessandra realizes Dario may never love her, she leaves and walks straight into danger. Will Dario and his brothers be able to save her?
I love a good mafia romance, and this fits the bill perfectly. I love that there are so many brothers, each with his own personality! The characters are great, especially Alessandra who is innocent but also feisty. Dario is hot and mercurial. They are great together. Catering and Valentino add a little comedy to the story. The world building is excellent as we get to see the Rosolini’s mansion in Tuscany. The story is fast-paced and easy to read. It’s quite a story, and I can’t wait for more in the series.
Read Dario and let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss!
I don't know about this one. It was kind of cringe but not in a fun way. Also, the style of writing and the pov was off. Certain things written I could only wonder who she is talking to? She addresses specifically Americans twice; like, are you writing a diary, addressing the room, girl who are you talking to?? Also, there was barely any plot; well, a compelling one at least. Not that I expect much from these, but if the story isn't good, at least make me laugh and this did neither.
Alessandra works at the family cafe. She's a good girl! Then in walks Dario who takes her away as collateral. These two has chemistry and secrets. Will Dario see a future wit her or will he walk away?
