Reading Allison’s books are always like sitting down with a lifelong friend. She’s real, she’s raw, she’s relatable and shares from the heart. I always gleam something new, see things from a different angle or a deeper angle and always walk away feeling refreshed and enlightened. This book was no exception, right from the start I was pulled in and sharing my take aways with anyone who would listen.
This is my seventh book I have read from the Stay Connected Journals for Catholic Women and it did not disappoint!! It was beautifully written with many points that touched my heart. The scripture verses that went with each section were touching. In addition to journaling in the book, I created a page in my spiritual journal about many of the points that have touched my heart and/or things to incorporate into my daily spiritual life.
The biggest question posed in the introduction was: “What brings you to Jesus?”
I pondered that. There are many things that brings me to Jesus: 1. Eternal life 2. Eucharist 3. Confession 4. Strength and love 5. His will for my life
The seven sections of this book include: Healed Past and Moving Forward; Do you want to be well?; An impaired sense of self and God; Reaching out in Faith; Believing it can be done; Would you witness, serve, or speak?; and Still Healing Today.
Each section did not disappoint and there are many excellent points to reflect and ponder - and even go back again to reread. But mostly, “Open your heart and put faith and goodness from God.” Spiritual Life is a journey - cry out to Jesus for mercy, open your heart to be filled with mercy and TRUST in his mercy.
I recommend this book for any woman looking for a personal spiritual retreat and renewal.
