Inherit money. Inherit power. Inherit everything from the father he never knew. Sean Costello’s life just went from zero to a hundred million in the blink of an eye. But in Las Vegas, every fortune has a price.
A stunning casino, a penthouse overflowing with secrets, and a harem of women who are as dangerous as they are desirable. Between the matriarch of the house, a loyal but suspicious childhood friend, and a dangerously tempting maid, Sean quickly discovers how easily pleasure and danger can intertwine.

Just as his future looks bleak, Sean receives word he has inherited a huge fortune from his just-deceased father. Such a fortune attracts all kinds of people who want a piece (or all!) of it. Sean and his mother, Beatrice, must find allies and friends to trust who can guide them through the toxic atmosphere of Las Vegas. It’s a great start to a new series! It certainly held my interest, much like Anya’s other books have: lots of relationship tension, suspense, action, erotic episodes, an eye-catching cover—everything a book needs.
I've been off this author's books for a while, but decided to give this one a try. In some ways better than the other books I've tried, but the MC, ever the weak point in a Merchant book is again the weakest element.
I see the attempts to keep some balance there, and it sorta works. The weakest point is consistency; is he an 18-year-old American Otaku equivalent, or a budding organized crime mastermind? To my mind these two things are mutually exclusive, but Anya tries to make it work. If it comepletely failed this review would be a 2, but I managed to suspend just enough disbelief that I enjoyed reading it for the most part.
There are also some grammatical errors with the wrong names given in a couple of spots, so that could be tightened up. Overall it's entertaining enough that I'll give book 2 a shot to see where this is going.
This book starts off with the dumbest dum-dum of an MC. It did not get better.
Granted, the MC’s mother isn’t much better. When he finds out about his inheritance, she never explained anything to him, just kept telling him “no, don’t go!” But never why.
That said, the MC is a moron, and completely unlikable. From telling people to call him ‘captain’ to giving spontaneous moronic ‘speeches’ it’s so cringey that it’s painful to read.
This book's vibe differed in several ways including feeling slow in the beginning utilizing a faux 1920's gangster language and the plot not developing very fast. As usual Anya threw some creative twist into liven it up! Not much sex but plenty left for further storyline development. Certainly worth reading
In principle a good story. decent writing, some steamy scenes. But I dislike the main protagonist a lot - that makes it real hard to enjoy the books. The protagonist is so full of himself and there are parts where I hoped his "games" would backfire. Won't happen of course. But I like the surrounding cast. His fathers old helper, his "mother" and so on.
I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by AI, and it was a great experience! The narration was clear and well-paced, making it easy to stay immersed in the story. I really appreciate that an audiobook version was released. I can’t wait to start Household Inheritance: Book 02 and see how ‘The Captain’ handles everything next!
Anya’s more recent books seem to have less sauce which works if you think the story that fills the book is worthwhile. Household Inheritance covers the inheritance of a Las Vegas nightclub to teenager Sean. All Anya’s books are well written but the mobster themes were less interesting to me. Just a personal opinion.
This is a fun read with just the right amount of intrigue and adult fun. Easy read that leaves the door open for part two. Where will Sean end up? He has some pretty nice alternatives.
When good things happen to regular people, when a lifetime of effort suddenly proves to have been preparation for destiny. What should he do, what would you do? Read on, this story never lets you down to the last page, you will want to pick up the next book as I did.
Interesting read. Young gamer can find a job and then hits the jackpot. the jackpot comes with hooks and the MC begins an education that he is not prepared for..............On to book two to see it unwind farther.
In less than a week an 18yr old becomes extremely wealthy and runs an illegal syndicate in Las Vegas. Yes, really! Not to mention loosing his virginity. Recommended!
I just couldn't get past a couple chapters. It's pretty well written, and the story is alright... But the constant underlining of mother/son incest is... Frankly gross, and extremely off putting.
Very nice storyline and can't wait to see how this story unfolds. I love the characters and how they blend into the story and can see how this will make a great series!
A plot! This book actually has a plot! With secrets! And mysteries! Not just one sex scene after another, but actual events that make s story. Highly recommend.
