The 3rd in the Love Sequence series. This book follows Penelope and her five love interests. The writing/prose is phenomenal. Descriptiveness that makes you feel apart of the story. Individually you get a sense of the characters and who they are and what they’re about connected to Penelope but as a whole unit (the 6 of them) it falls a little short. I was hoping for more relationship building for them as a whole not just as individual couples. A big part of this story right off the bat is Penelope burning down (accidentally) her restaurant. But we never see it actually rebuilt, the things that should have been shown were overshadowed but the spice (which was excellent btw 10/10) But all in all it was a good book. There were minor continuity issues but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Charlie was by far the best (so far) in the series but if you’re into a whole lotta spice and not too much actual story, you’ll love this book.
ARC read: I don’t think there is enough room to detail all the things I liked and didn’t like about this book. Like all her other books, this is a great palate cleanser if you are looking for something cutesy to read before your next series. I absolutely love Daphne’s writing because it is cute. However, the continuity and redundancy errors in this book, annoyed me and made the book difficult to read at times. Furthermore, there wasn’t as much of a plot as there was in the previous two books which made me really sad.
This why choose romance tells the story of the main character, Penelope, and the men in her life. In the aftermath of a fire in Penelope's restaurant, tensions are high, and their lives are complicated as the story gets spicy!!! 🌶🌶🌶 I highly recommend this book and I really enjoyed it!
I’m all for smut but this was every chapter to the point I couldn’t work out who she was shagging. Also way too long. If you like a shit ton of smut with very little confused plot, it’s the book for you. Sadly for me, whilst I want the smut, I also want plot (and for the characters hair to stay the same all the way through)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 Star Review 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 5/5 Spiciness Level!
Penelope is book 3 in the Love Sequence Series. It is a Contemporary Romance with Why Choose/Reverse Harem trope. Intense spice, ok the spice is HEAVY!!!
The story is set in Scotland & the characters are linked with the previous books in the series. Penelope is the sister of one of the men of Charlie from the first book. She is best friends with Isla from the second book. Her & the guys have a rather intense part in Isla when they’re all helping her set up for a baby shower for Charlie.
This book begins with a kitchen fire in Penelope’s restaurant and it causes pretty heavy damage. Penelope’s attempt to extinguish the fire was futile and she was set on going down with the flames. The guys have to literally haul her out of there. Aside from the restaurant, she also owns the “MASTER BAITER” which is a fishing boat run by her crew of 5 guys:
Archer Sullivan(Boat Captain, from the USA) Spencer Montgomery (from Southern USA) Liam Taylor (Australia) Sammy (England) Jamie O’Connor (Ireland)
They catch the fish, some they sell and the rest supplies the food for the restaurant which is how she pays their paychecks and the bills. With the kitchen ruined, there is little income. Across the wall from the kitchen is the bunkhouse for the guys. They can no longer stay there due to the fire. So, they all come to Penelope’s house.
Fireworks start fairly quickly once the guys are living with her. They make a plan to live there with her and help rebuild her kitchen. It’s made very clear they want to stay and be with her in any way she’ll allow. There is a relationship between Sammy & Jamie prior to all this that continues in this story, so they are Bi. They add another one of the guys to their sword-crossing who realizes he is Bi.
The story is very sweet, with very devoted guys, and super HOT 🥵!! Of course there is a well-deserved HEA at the end! 🥰
I really enjoyed the first book in the series and the second was a nice continuation, this however did not do it for me. I can understand that writing a book with 6 main characters would be challenging, but if your not up to it maybe dont do it. There were inconsistent and vague descriptions for most of the guys throughout. The whole book felt very rushed and repetitive. Also when every experience and sensation is over exaggerated it begins to lose meaning. When every mundane moment is a life altering, full body experience it makes each time less impactful. I also feel this book really lost the interconnected aspect I loved in the first two books. I know previous characters made brief appearance and that fitting them in with the busy main cast might have been difficult but it was a shame to not see the amazing characters you have written previously have a more active role. Overall felt very rushed, I do understand the author was also writing multiple other books at the time which must have been difficult but more is not necessarily better, and it would have been nice to have the book given more attention that I feel would have reflected in the book, as seen in other works the author is clearly capable. Not trying to personally criticise the author, I cannot begin to fathom the writing process, the pressure to put out content and the pressure I am sure she puts on herself to do everything.

I don’t normally review books, but I loved the first book in this series and feel like it’s worth noting why I didn’t care for this one. Honestly the main story line was good and there was a LOT of smut. I enjoyed a lot of the scenes, but found myself skimming a lot too. Then I realized what was nothing me about this book and it’s a couple things. First, everyone talks about the relationship without talking about the relationship. They didn’t clarify a bunch of things I would have liked to see explored the way they did in Charlie’s book. They didn’t talk through the logistics, they just were like “it will work” and “you’re mine” and somehow no one chafed with that. I guess I just needed more communication and explanation behind things. The second thing that really bugged me was how time passing was totally ignored. I had no idea when stuff was happening, how close together things were, and it was jarring. All of a sudden it’s 2 days later or a month or wait how fast did all that happen? I have no idea. There was not much transition between things. Just tag-teaming and Pen being snagged by one guy or another. Idk it was rough and kinda disappointing. I also feel like I still don’t know who Spenser is as a character and I really wanted more claiming to happen verbally/in the wedding.
Penelope accidentally burns down her restaurant and her fisherman’s living quarters. The 5 men she’s been keeping at bay are now living in her small house. They all want her and are all willing to share.
This book has: ✔️Why choose/Reverse harem ✔️LGTBQ+ friendly 🏳️🌈 ✔️Swords do indeed cross ⚔️ ✔️Heavy smut 🌶️ ✔️HEA ✔️MMCs with different personalities
This book was HOT HOT HOT!! Even with this being over 800 pages it was about 90% smut 10% plot. So if spicy reads aren’t your thing, maybe won’t be your cup of tea. The writing was amazing, very detailed and immersive. The spicy scenes were phenomenal *chefs kiss*. All the men get one on one time with Penelope as well as some group scenes with all or some of the men (Chapter 33 🤤🤤🤤). There are some continuity errors which sometimes made the story a bit confusing. Plot wise it moves quite quickly and you don’t really learn about the characters much so there also isn’t a lot of character development. However all the men are head over heels for Penelope and already know what they want so not a big issue. Absolutely recommend giving this book a read if you love your books smutty as hell!
I really enjoyed reading Penelope. I love how different and special each relationship is that Penelope has with each guy. They all love and support each other and want what is best for Penelope.
Penelope has a crew of five working on her fishing boat. They guys live together off of the restaurant. The restaurant and where they live catches on fire. The five guys all move in with Penelope in her small house. While living together, they all end up finally admitting they are in love with Penelope. The relationships build and grow while they live together and rebuild the restaurant. Penelope also has the love and support of her friends and family, who are the focus of other books in the series, and the friendship and family relationships are wonderful as well.
Highly recommend reading this book and the series if you haven't read the other books.

When Penelope accidentally burns down her restaurant making a late night snack, she is forced to shift her mindset and regroup. Luckily for her, the five men (Sam, Spencer, Liam, Jamie, Archer) she hired 3 years ago to handle the fishing boat, Master Baiter, are willing to stick around and help her out. The only problem is the 6 sets of emotions that have been bubbling under the surface for 3 years.
Nearly 1000 pages of spice, with little plot. However each guy has alone time and various group time with Penelope so you do learn and fall in love with the characters.
This is apart of a series/wold, but can be a stand alone.
Five men who will follow the woman the love anywhere. Even in the freezing Loch. Yes please! This was my first RH with more than three MMC's and I wasn't sure what to expect but Daphne did not disappoint with book three of the Love Sequence series. Every MC brought a different personality to bring Penelope into herself more than she already was. From broody and quiet, funny and playful, silent and watchful, cheerleader and teammate, and the golden retriever worshiper. Another instalment that I could not put down. The connection made between each character was beautiful to watch grow and the connections they made as a whole. Again with the sneak peaks of our next RH couple has me dying while I wait for the next release!!
This was a great addition to the series. I’ve always loved the forced proximity trope, and this one didn’t disappoint. I really liked the characters in this one—I thought five guys might be too many, but they all felt well-rounded, and their individual relationships with Penelope were developed really nicely. It’s about 90% spice, 10% plot, just the way I like it.
Disclaimer: there was a formatting issue with Chapter 35 when it first released, but it looks like that’s been fixed now.
I have decided that 5 men would just be too much for me to handle, but not for our girl Penelope. She handles her men like a champ! I love the found family aspect because 5 random men from all over the world and 1 determined Scottish lady should not be so damn HOT! 🔥🔥
Absolutely worth the (almost) week it took me to finally get through this! If you haven't already, go check out Charlie and Isla before diving into this. Another spectacular book for Daphne!
I absolutely loved Penelope. Book 3 didn't disappoint. The FMC and her men are well written and Daphne has helped bring each of the characters to life. Each MMCA has their own distinct personalities. You get to see each of their individual relationships with Penelope grow. Its both sweet and very spicy. The spicy scenes are hot, not short and brilliantly described! Absolutely loved this book, and the whole series! Can't wait to read the next one!
This was 99% smut and 1% plot which made it tedious to get through. For the last 500 pages it was work to get through it. There’s only so many times you can read some variation of the same thing before it is kind of boring and repetitive.
If you love smut, no plot this will probably be right up your alley, but if you need some sort of plot I’d say skip this one. It did have some sweet moments but I’m mostly just glad it’s done now.
I fell in love with Daphne’s writing when I read her first book. & everything since has been even better. This story was amazing it had me reading non stop because I couldn’t tear myself away. If you enjoy a slow build high tension romance with a hint of outside drama & a happy HEA then this story is for you.
This book is everything Penelope could dream of, full of heat, sweetness, and just the right amount of spice. Daphne Leigh has truly outdone herself once again! The tension and chemistry are off the charts. If you're into spicy, feel good reads with irresistible MMCs, you won’t want to miss this one! Who doesn't want 5 hot MMCs?
This one was tough to get through. Many parts dragged slowly, then skipped details that would have nice to have. I have no idea how these guys found their way to her fishing boat. WHO are they. The same 12 phrases were used throughout the entire story. I swear the word “sacred” was a n every paragraph in the last 1/2 of the book. All of that said, I love Sammy and Jaime!!
This book is hot and sweet and spicy and has alllllll the MMCs Penelope could ever want. Daphne Leigh does it again! She has become an insta-buy author for me. Her not-dark, but so damn spicy books are just perfection. 😏
As always, Daphne is a joy to read. I love the characters so much. My only gripe is that sometimes things are overly descriptive and the descriptions are repetitive
