Peace. Quiet. Prosperity. Elaine finally has it all. Friends and loving family, a secure place to call home. She’s finally able to indulge in passion projects just for fun, and sets her eyes on the largest goal of all.
It feels like the author is entirely out of ideas for this book. Whole decades pass with nothing happening and the whole "going to the moon" part was wrapped in just a few chapters .
There was more slice of life than usual in this installment of the series. Only about two chapters seem to build the overall plot of the rest of the series. I also feel a little robbed that the book discussed how one of the events of the story would contribute to Elaine's third class advancement but then that selection process wasn't in the book.
The volume deals with a bit of a time skip from after the phoenix situation until the next big event dealing with a few events in between, the biggest of which is a trip to one of the moons. While I tend to like slice-of-life, this volume felt a bit disjointed, more like a series of observations and short stories placed in chronological order. So not the most riveting of reads in this series, although still interesting enough. What comes next seem much more interesting...
This was a short book compared the previous installment, and honestly, not much interesting happened other than the last chapter from a third-party POV which ended on a juicy cliffhanger. Sure, they went to the moon and , but there wasn't any meaningful character development or action progression with the rest of the chapters and a lot of time skipping.
A big disappointment. Basically the entire book is timeskips - and unnecessary ones. Every so often there's an interesting hook, but it barely lasts a chapter before it gets resolved offscreen without any impact. Even the litRPG aspects!
The protagonist ends up being a side character in her own story. She goes to THE MOON and it's basically a footnote. The same happens with every other "arc". Elaine pretty much retires from doing interesting things, and it's incredibly boring. The author artfully dodges ever actually getting her to do anything on-screen, rather than skipping fifteen years and then informing us she gained one level in some random ability.
Again: they go to THE MOON yet the biggest impact that has is in Elaine complaining she doesn't level Tender Gardening.
There's not even a class-up sequence of any note. The entire book could be a summary of various time skipped sequences and lose little content.
This is the first book in the series I've had to wait for the release to read, and feeling 13 books flow back through me as I read the opening was just incredible. This is a shorter read, which I believe I read in the discord was intentional, and it leaves me excited for the next book. It's well paced and the story that does happen within these pages is well worth the read and has curious implications I am excited to see the end result/answers. Super hype and looking forward to the next one!
Moonfall is a fun little slice of life novel following our favourite sentinal as she lives her life as a young immortal in relative peace. There are time jumps that show very well how someone who lives so long would view events, with many years passing between things that seem important. Unlike the previous books, each chapter is a short and sweet story that may or may not connect to a later plot point. But overall, the book is fun and sets out a crisis for the next instalment of Beneath the Dragon Eye Moons that I'm very impatiently waiting for.
This has been interesting, the passage of time, I love immortal shows/stories but so often they are cut short and end. I hope we get hundreds and thousands of years of stories. Complaints: MC was still in the lifespan of a normal human when time was blinking by like an immortal would see it. 2nd: little tidbits could be expanded on a little more instead of "oh cool thing" then 5 years later :(
I imagine time flow may start going in even bigger leaps n bounds but hope it doesn't turn entirely into that.
This book doesn’t really seem to fit in with the rest of the series. It’s much shorter and it feels like a bunch of short stories instead of one cohesive story. Not a lot really happens in the story except they do go to the moon which was made out to be no big deal. I feel like this book could’ve been skipped entirely but the author just wanted to leave us on a big cliff hanger.
Overall, the series is good and while not a lot happens in this story, this book is not a good representation of the series. Hopefully the next book gets things back on track.

A short look at Elaine's life after all the adventures. This one is far more slice of life than previous books with not a single Radiant spell or fight making an appearance. That takes nothing from the enjoyment though.
The world is expanded, mysteries are answered and new ones started and it all remains deeply enjoyable.
I can't wait for the events that this transition book setup so we can see more of Healer Elaine and Sentinel Dawn.
Not as long as her novels usually are but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Though, considering how many years are skipped over the course of the volume, it leaves me to wonder if the end is near and the final major event is getting closer. Hope not because this is one of my favorite series ever!
If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you're going to enjoy this, more of what you want some nice little cut aways to other characters perspectives. Good writing all the way around. I'm not going to ruin the plot for you. Good characters and action never got boring once highly recommend 👍
Novellas and time skips, as Elaine and Ionia build family, friends and wealth.
Wonder if you could populate your pocket dimension with people if you teleported embryos without System access. Or if you want to reseed a devastated world, put embryos in stasis with magic , then pop them back out.
Liked it despite how short it is. I think it’s a lot more concise than the recent books, and it actually gets around to the main plot before the last few chapters, which was an issue in the previous book. Very good, I couldn’t put it down and read the entire thing in a day.
Not as lengthy as normal, but—as I understand it—this was the only place to break between *big* events. Not to say this was all preparation; this book was simply a smaller story. Still quite amusing.
Normally by the 13th book, a mega series such as this would have lost its shape and maybe started to disappear up its own backside. Not so here, still fresh, vibrant and a brilliant read. Now I just have to hibernate until the next one . Keep it up Selkie.
Must read books in order so that you can follow story. It was sometimes hard to grasp the timeline as to how many years had passed during the story. Overall, a very good story!.
I love these books. They always manage to pull all sorts of emotions out of me even on the simplest things. But the ending! Chills. I think I have to hand it to Lossamiel (who you only meet at the end) Well done.
The inspiration from this series has been wonderful. I love the lore, mechanics, and world building you've put in to this wonderful setting. I treasure every new experience.
I still loved the story but don't like all the forward time jumping. I would have loved more of the birthday party with old & new friends and other parts I felt were cut too short.
This book is definitely a filler between story lines, but one that I really enjoyed. It was nice to just see how people live when they have (literally) all the time in the world
This book was filler material. Not sure why it was written really. I guess the MC needed to understand the implications of immortality and the author needed more time to write a full sequel? I didn't find it very entertaining and a bit of a slog to get through.
A lot of fun but definitely a setup for the next big event type of book. Can't wait for the next one to come out and excited for more of Elaine's adventure!
