She was never meant to be part of this adventure. He was only meant to drag her home.
Stella Delmont has spent her life trapped in her father’s gilded cage, studying ancient artifacts while he profits from their secrets. When she finally seizes the chance to chase the legend of The Golden Cascade, she refuses to let anyone stand in her way. Not even the ruthless mercenary sent to retrieve her.
Brooks is a man who always gets the job done. Find the girl, bring her back, get paid—simple. But Stella isn’t some helpless heiress; she’s trouble wrapped in a smile dripping with stubbornness. And when she refuses to turn back, he has to make a split-second decision; if he can’t stop her, he’ll have to protect her.
Now they’re racing through treacherous jungles, dodging bullets and having far too many close encounters. The longer Brooks keeps her safe, the harder it is to ignore the pull between them. But in a world built on deception and greed, trusting each other might be the greatest risk.
4.5! I LOVED this book! Easily one of my favourites. Stella is spectacularly sarcastic and I loved her fierceness! Brooks was like a lovesick puppy and I was absolutely here for it. The storyline had me hooked. I’m sad that it’s over but I will 100% reread. This was my first ARC and now I’m afraid that no ARC will be on a level with this one
I received an E-copy of this book as an ARC opportunity by the author!
This is the second ARC I have participated in and I loved the experience. I took away some rank for plot because the first 10-15 chapters were hard for me to get into because I felt as if I was thrown into the middle of the story not the beginning of one, which left me struggling to follow the plot and connect to the characters, however; it was not necessarily bad. Again, this is just my personal opinion and from other reviews I can tell that not everyone had the same experience as me, which is amazing; it just may not have been my type of start to a book. The book definitely grabbed your attention from chapter one, despite feeling a little confused on what was happening, I wanted to push through and give it a chance because I was curious on what would happen with the characters and I am glad that I continued my read because I did end up enjoying it more once I got around the chapter 15 mark.
Stella is a very headstrong, confident and smart woman and watching her story progress and her have to confide in Brooks to help her and protect her was interesting, especially considering she was resentful of her dad for basically doing the same thing her whole life. I really enjoyed Brooks’ character and how protective he was. It was fun to watch him be forced to give up his control to follow Stella through dangerous situations that she was never going to give up. I think the story itself was very interesting and seemed pretty original. There was quite a bit of action at the end that had me on the edge of my seat which I thoroughly enjoyed reading! One thing that was really well written to me was the spicy scenes 🌶️ I read a lot of smut and typically theres at least one part of at least one spicy scene in every book where I get the ick because of certain words that are used or dialogue during those scenes but that did not happen to me with this book. The spice was very well written and descriptive without going overboard.
I felt as if there was a lot of repetitive descriptions in the beginning in regard to the places they visited in their treasure hunt, but as the book went on the repetitiveness diminished and it overall did not take away from the story. I also noticed a few typos that made me pause to reread and figure out what was meant to be said, again it did not take away from the story but if things like that bother you then you may not enjoy this book as much.
Stella, the female main character, is strong, sensitive, amusing, honest and brave. I love the way she connected with Brooks, the MMC, him being protective, a little stubborn in the right moments, behaving in a way that will make Stella fight for herself, pushing her buttons and being obsessed with her.
I was able to see how their relation changed from “dislike”, to being forced to be with each other, to friends and, finally, to lovers. They were able to get through the obstacles together, but making sure both their opinions were respect and telling the other when something wasn't working.
There are plenty of banter and chemistry, that blends perfectly with moments filled with tension and angst. The spice is present in the adequate amount, being very descriptive but not making me uncomfortable. The story keeps flowing, never too fast or too slow. I LOVED the dual POV, it always makes it better to be able to see both the protagonist's feelings and thoughts.
From the first page I was immersed and couldn't stop reading, every trope is well written and mixed. There were a few twists that keep making everything more interesting. I am so glad I applied to be an ARC for this book, without a doubt, I very very very recommend reading this.
Thank you so much @authormeaganmae for giving me the chance of being an ARC.
OMG it was sooo good, the spice... I can't so freaking good.
I received this as an ARC and was hooked from the first page I started reading it. Although a bit of an unusual read, the adventure aspect was something else. Stellas was a strong FMC and Brooks was the right match for her it was like a "I can do this alone" "Yeah I know but I'm going to help you" kind of moment. This book was absolutely everything even as I went into it blindly.
The spice was amazing, I think the whole possessive man act does its numbers. It was so different from the first book I read from the author and I am all here for it.
I loved almost everything from this book, I think I saw another person say this but I also felt like I was thrown into the middle of an ongoing story, I would have loved to get to know Mr. Delmont further as well as Macy, just to get a better feel at how Stella was feeling throughout the story.
The romance between Brooks and Stella was amazing nonetheless.
Title: Twisted in Sin Author: Meagan Mae Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Review: I absolutely loved this book. It reminded me of a insurance jones type of adventure. I loved Stella and brooks. I also loved Stella’s smart ass attitude. A few of the things Stella said made me laugh because it sounded like something I’d say. For me this was a fast read and I absolutely loved it. I’m thankful I was given the chance to arc read this book. It was sooo good. Definitely recommend reading it. Thank you, Meagan, for giving me a chance to read your book. ❤️
My first adventure romance and it was a good one! He’s protective, she’s sassy, their romance is electric and spicy, and the action is suspenseful and plentiful. Stella tries to get out from her father’s wing and searches for treasure on her own, but unbeknownst to her, Brooks has been sent to track her and make sure she stays safe. A captivating read that brought such modern Romancing the Stone vibes and I am here for it. I had the opportunity to read early and my thoughts are honest and voluntary. 4.25 stars
First off i would like to thank Meagan for the opportunity to read & review this gifted E-Arc.
Stella & Brooks Stella my queen! I absolutely freaking love her, her ability to go after what she wants despite the consequence. The way she just carried herself and her witty attitude. Her ability to be so open and honest while still being caring and sensitive to others. Her willingness to make her dreams happen regardless of it being male dominated. Also the fact that she isn't afraid to stand up for herself and put someone in their place. Brooks my dude. I absolutely love him, the way he is obsessed with Stella the moment he saw her and the way he pushes her buttons to get her to fight back. His ability to read and know exactly what it is she needs before she does is great. The way he is willing to protect Stella at all cost and never hesitate to call her out when need. These two start off with dislike to the other but over time the build a friendship and it slowly morphs into more. They were made for each other in the best ways possible.
5/5 Recommend this book. This is the second book i read by Meagan and to watch her writing grow and change is so amazing to see. I absolutely adore the way she was so detailed with everything but not overwhelming with it. Her ability to keep you on the edge of your seat and just waiting for what's to come is so good. I was hooked from page one and couldn't stop reading. I can't wait for what else she writes.
-This one was so fun! Filled with action, angst, and spiiice 🥵 I really enjoyed the banter and taunting between the two main characters, that turned into great chemistry and connection. Adored the aspect of the FMC being a badass treasure hunter with a kind of mafioso dad. Overall enjoyed this one all the way through.
This book is written so well!! Meagan brought these characters to life with their sarcastic dialogue, the attention to detail, and the pacing. She built tension and attraction between characters so naturally. I loved reading Brooks and Shiloh’s story, I was very sad that I had to stop reading to go to work and sleep. I wanted to find the treasure with them but also these characters were just so fun that I could read about them hanging out around the house and be happy.
I loved this book! For all the girlies that drooled over Brenden Fraser in The Mummy, this one is for you!! I loved the twists and the adventure that happens and would 1000x recommend
Took a little bit for me to get into but once I was hooked I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Brooks and Stella is insane and instantaneous which made for a fun read. The adventure story was a little meh for me personally but I still enjoyed the story overall.
This was such a fun book and a delightful genre mashup. Adventure romance is a newer subgenre for me, and I really enjoyed it. It had a feeling of an Indiana Jones, with some wonderfully written spice sprinkled throughout the story. The chemistry between Stella and Brooks was great and really built as the book went on, and their banter was really entertaining as it moved from pure snark and dislike to fun teasing. This book was well written and thought out, with the way the plot progressed, its dips and plot twists kept me engaged from start to end. If you want a fun, spicy, adventure romance, definitely check out Twisted in Sin 💚🖤
This book was so flipping good! This book had some of my favorite tropes like bodyguard romance and age gap and this book delivered! Meagan did an amazing job of bringing Stella and Brooks to life in this story and did so well in the storyline of dislike to love. The banter and chemistry was just off the charts through this whole story.
I received an ARC copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
ARC Review I absolutely loved this book! Stella and Brooks are total sweethearts, and the age gap between them just adds to the charm. The witty banter, the thrill of chasing down the treasure, and the way the story kept me hooked it was all so well done. Stella’s sass really stood out to me. Her fearless spirit as she dives headfirst into an adventure, with Brooks always by her side, was such a joy to read. Chapter 19 had me giggling uncontrollably—it was the perfect mix of light-hearted fun and romance! And don’t even get me started on her dad playing cupid—ahhh, it was adorable!✨😆🥰
This is my second ARC from the Meagan Mae after reading her debut, and I’m officially a fan. Her writing style is captivating, and I can’t wait to read more of her work!
Extremley witty? ✅ Dual POV ? ✅ Action that keeps your utterly intruigued? ✅ Tension? ✅ Spice? ✅ (when you purchase your book, page 131 Xx) Here’s to a story that checks all the boxes, is written so well, I could not and did not want to put it down.
this was a great book for a debut! the story was captivating and interesting, but didn't get out of hand. the characters had instant chemistry but the book was about much more than them as a couple and also allowed for her to develop.
the plot is definitely more in the adventure romance category, like indiana jones but way hotter. it also has the bodyguard vibe and man does he take that seriously.
the characters were fun, they had good banter and they were both strong characters. there's some peril, but despite that she stays strong.
what's inside: -adventure romance -bodyguard -one bed -forced proximity -dislike to lovers -age gap
cw/tw: -peril -violence -descriptive sexual content
Arc Review Rating: 4.7 stars spice level: 3 What you will find: -Age gap - Bodyguard romance -Forced proximity -protective MMC -Treasure hunting -Kidnapping
When I tell you I cannot get enough of a bodyguard romance I literally mean it!! I love the dynamic of this story line and how passionate the angst was in this book. The protectiveness was something I could not get enough of! I love the banter and the entire plot of this story
Stella Delmont is a powerful and a woman who knows what she wants. She stands her ground within anything in her way. I loved being able to see her character play out, she's not some FMC who gets stepped on, but she also loves to be put in her place by the only man in her life who can. AKA all our mans ;) She has all the sassiness you could want to come from such a badass FMC!! Literally lovedddd her omg!
Brooks Mcknight is a man who dies protecting a woman who he loves! He stops at nothing to make sure she is protected and guarded. Let me just tell you, he is a man every book girl wants to have. He knows just how to make sure she's well taken care of and guarded. I loved the teasing towards stella and how knew exactly how to handle her. It was the sweetest seeing these too! I literally loved these two so much!
I want to give a HUGE Thank you to Ms. Meagan Mae. This is my first time reading from this author and absolutely loved the writing. The emotion and contrast were well thought out, this was seen throughout the book! I hope to read more from this author, I am still not over this couple and won't be for a HOT minute. I need some more time to process this good story!
Adventure, romance and high stakes - this book is a thrilling rollercoaster that will keep you hooked from the first page to the epilogue.
I love the character Stella because she is no damsel in distress, no "princess" needed to be saved. Gave me total Jasmine from Aladdin vibes (the live action movie). She is resourceful, determined, and more than capable of taking care of herself.
Brooks -- ohhhh my man Brooks. At first, I was not vibing with him simply because I am a girls girl and I'm screaming at the book -- "SHE DOESN'T NEED YOUR HELP!" but this man stole my heart just like he stole Stella's - his true treasure. Throughout the book you realize that Brooks isn't just a "stoic mercenary" but he truly care about Stella and what she stands for.
One of the standout features of this novel is the way the “spicy” scenes are written—refreshing, not overly gratuitous, but undeniably sizzling. The chemistry between Brooks and Stella is palpable, and their relationship adds depth to the story without overshadowing the plot.
Overall, this book is a wild, captivating ride filled with adventure, romance, and intrigue. If you’re a fan of strong female leads, action-packed adventure, and sizzling chemistry, this is definitely one you should pick up.
Stella is a strong independent woman who takes it upon herself to go in search of treasure, since her father will not allow her to carry on the family business in the field.
"I'm sure if I were a man, I'd already be running this game, and they'd all be applauding my ambition". Sing it Swifties!
As she finds herself in danger and running from those who are also seeking the treasure, we meet Brooks who was sent by Stella's father to secure and protect her.
"This isn't some movie where I'm a good guy sent to fall in love with you".
Isn't it? Brooks is pretty much instantly smitten with Stella, though she infuriatingly keeps trying to escape him until they agree to work together. The spice was great, the lead up and the execution were very steamy. Chapter 19 enough said 😉 iykyk.
I loved the adventure and the cryptic clues leading to the treasure, it reminds me of old school adventure romance movies. There is adventure, tension, betrayal and more! I definitely want to read more of this type of story in the future.
Thank you to Meagan Mae for the advanced copy, my opinion is my own.
“I will give you the matches to burn this whole fucking world down, Stella” 🫠🫠
Brooks was hired by Stella’s father to find her. Little did he know, he would find her after she’d been kidnapped, not once, but, twice. Stella just wanted to look for the King’s Cascade uninterrupted. Neither of them knew what they were in for.
I loved how strong and fearless the FMC was. Her witty banter internal monologue was always giving me a chuckle. Brooks seems like such a hunk and I loved his softer side.
