From The Inside is a collection of short stories about trans women and lesbian intimacy. Each story is told in a varied style, around an assortment of topics. At the centre of each tale is both heart and thoughtfulness about the trans experience. This collection contains a wide variety of spicy themes including petplay, dollification, overcoming dysphoria, tentacles, demons, eldritch horrors, and more.
Sophia Turner is a trans woman based in Australia. She’s a programming language designer turned author with a love of all things trans and lesbian. Her first novel, Machines of Consent, was released in 2025.
What an amazing collection of stories. I had the honor of beta reading the collection and was blown away by how good each and every story was. Let's go down the list:
The Best Dog in the Universe - All the stars I like to call myself puppy, and the idea of being treated as one like this was extremely hot. My favorite of the 10 stories.
Ex Inferis - 5 stars What else could you want from some demon fucking besides a hot as fuck butch demon and and infernal pack to make them your fuck buddy.
The Professor - 4 stars A very real and sexy look at how it can feel, dating as a trans woman. Some wonderful spice with a moving story hidden within.
The Lady of the House - 4 stars A very, very interesting idea based on the kink of dollification. Enter the manor of the mysterious 'Lady' along with all the other dolls who serve therein.
Doing My Part for the Pack - So many stars OMG this one was so good. It's pure smut with an intriguing story surrounding it that honestly I'd love to know more about. And ovipositors. Need I say more?
From the Inside = 5 stars An almost tear-jerking story of how it feels to have bottom dysphoria for a trans woman. The story has some spice, like the rest of the stories, but this one is so heartfelt and caring and soft that while it stands out a tiny bit, it still has its place amongst these wonderful stories. I can't say enough good things about this story
Cat Got Her Tongue - 4 stars Just an evening in the life of a catgirl and her owner. A beautiful, soft, spicy read that provides a nice palette cleanse after the intensity of the previous stories.
Thorns in Her Side - 4 stars Truthfully my least favorite of the stories, but still phenomenal. The use of a fantasy world's philosophy to try and explain the feelings of being trans is masterful, and the spice at the end is hot and quick as the MC discovers a whole new life.
By Ancient Hands - 5 stars A soft yet sexy story that follows the MC meeting a domme and starting anal training, then getting her world amazingly rocked in every way possible.
To Heal the Mind - 5 stars Another story focusing on dollification, but with a very unique take on how the domme not only finds her willing victim but also how she controls her and takes care of her. It's quite the mindfuck, and you need to pay attention especially near the end.
All in all, very high marks for this collection. Everything a trans woman might want in a smut collection, with a wonderful variety of kinks and spice portrayed so well. It's beautifully written and definitely worth a read.
What are you still doing here? Go buy the damned book and let it rock your world like it did mine!
For a first collection, From The Inside is a wonderful thing. Sophia Turner dips her pen into a number of different genres, coloring all of her tales with imagination. What connects them all is the strength of the characters, but what makes them memorable is the themes she explores.
One of the first themes that struck me is that of sacrilege, which plays into my favorite stories in the collection – Ex Inferis, the supernatural tale of a transgender woman who casually summons a transgender demon with a very erotic, very blasphemous prayer. The Lady Of The House has something of sacrilege to it as well, with the reading of erotica very sermon-like, but I’ll have more to say about it with the next theme. Thorns In Her Side is the last story I’d place under this theme, a pastoral kind of fantasy about faith, religion, and the difference between soul and spirit.
The next theme that resonated with me is that of submission, which takes the form of pet play (The Best Dog In the Universe and Cat Got Her Tongue) and dollification (The Lady Of The House and To Heal The Mind). These are stories that explore the need to submit . . . to give up all control . . . to be cared for and commanded . . . and there’s a sincerity to them that tells me Turner understands the role very well. The Lady Of The House was a particular favorite of mine, and a story I would love more of.
The last theme I wanted to touch on, and this is probably the only one that legitimately warrants a content warning, is gender dysphoria, as confronted in the title tale, From The Inside. Wow, this was a powerful tale, and just so well-done. You don’t need to be transgender to appreciate it, but if you are . . . well, you’ll sympathize with the anxiety as much as you celebrate the healing.
There were a couple of stories that just didn’t grab my attention, but I expect that of any collection, and the ones that I enjoyed, I enjoyed immensely. If you’re up for some smart, sexy, meaningful erotica, From The Inside is well worth the read.
There are times when I wish I could truely impart the percussive energy of my hands clapping through the internet. I need you to visualize my hands clapping when I say this:
This. Book. Has. Everything.
Petplay? Check. Aliens? Check. Demons, Vampires, Werewolf-Alien hybrids? Sort of, yeah. Touching or Steamy, Hot or Sweet, Human or Whatever; From The Inside tells 10 amazing pieces of transfeminine lesbian erotica so unique from one another that you will struggle to believe they were all written by the same author. Sophia Turner manages to capture so many angles of transbian love and sex in these stories that it will make you reach for the tissues (for more than one reason!)
By far the highlight for me was The Professor, a delightful and cozy 3-part tale of self-discovery with a few of the hottest examples of trans erotica I had ever read. I can't reccomend enough that you read this book!
