Let’s party like there’s no tomorrow… New Year’s Eve, the biggest party night of the year. Sian is no party animal but this year she’s going all out. She needs to prove to her new housemates, Connor and Nayo, that she’s a fun person to be around and that they made absolutely the right choice in choosing her to move in with them. It was a great party, one of the best, and when Sian awakes on New Year’s Day, although there are big gaps in her memory, she knows she partied hard because doesn't she have the hangover from hell to prove it? She does, but it was so worth it. But then she discovers that something terrible happened that night, something shocking that incredibly, she has no memory of but will have to live with for the rest of her life. In the space of twenty-four hours, her life has been turned into a waking nightmare. And it’s so much worse than a hangover.
Joanne Ryan lives in the south of England and has always loved writing. Her novels concentrate on the darker, secret side of life of seemingly ordinary people. She also writes under the pen name of Marina Johnson https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
What a brilliant read this was. It twists and turns at every opportunity. There's so much manipulation going on that you never know quite who to trust. Poor Sian just doesn't know who to believe. Well drawn characters who leap off the page, though whether you like them or not is another matter. A well deserved five stars from me.
Another captivating and addictive book!! For me, Joanne's books always provide a great story coupled with a wise message. The lesson I took from The Party is that not everybody should be taken at face value, and sometimes even the seemingly kindest people could be harbouring a terrifying dark side. Highly recommend!
After a New Year’s Eve party in her new house share , Sian wakes to find the body of a man next to her in bed. With no memory of the night before she leans on her housemates for help.
Just love this author, she never lets me down. Drama? Thriller? Call it what you will i devoured it in two sittings. It all begins on New Year's Eve, Sian is doing her best to enjoy the party, she feels she has a lot to prove. The characters are so well written, some are pretty awful but all easy to visualize. I thought i understood what the ending would be but i got that totally wrong. Huge five stars from me.
Held me hostage from the 1st page. This story was riveting, three roommates wake on New Years Day to a dead man in one of their beds... Instead f calling the police they disclose of the body and then the constant worry, guilt and fear seem to set in. Or so it seems... I've found a new author to follow. Mystery, thriller, psych - suspense readers will love this book.
This is an absolute fantastic read. Very fast paced and i finished the book in two days. The plot is unconvincing but the drama and speed is there to keep you hooked in.
