Not nearly as good as the others

This particular book in the series seemed to be written according to some formula. Another case, this time with a prostitute with a grudge against abusive men - pretty standard fare. Then there's the sub-plot with Crutchfield which had very little action and no character development. Then the ending is action-packed but predictable and pretty unimaginative.

I have enjoyed the Jessie Hunt series, and have particularly enjoyed the character development of Jessie. I only wish she'd get together properly with Ryan, as I feel that romantic tension is dragging from one book to the next. But this story is very interesting and even scarier with a subplot involving a serial killer from the previous stories in the series. I always find this author's books to be quite the page-turner with a depth to his characters. Highly recommended from the very beginning of the series.

Another great book by Blake Pierce - these Jessie Hunt books just get better and better! I loved the multiple different point of views from various characters, it really added a more interesting portrayal of the story! Can’t wait to read the next one!

I’ve enjoyed all Blake Pierce’s novels in the series, but this one fell a little flat for me. Usually there are good twists and turns and surprises. This one really wasn’t all that tricky and it’s all been done before. It was a good read but hardly put me on the edge of my seat. This is my least favorite book out of the series this far.

Given that I didn't enjoy my first book (one of his popular works) from this author, I did not expect much with this one. Yet surprisingly this book was actually really good and I'm glad that I gave it a try. It started so strong and immediately held my interest until the end. Aside from the main case, it also has some subplots which give it more substance and appeal to me as a reader. Tho it was part of a series, I think the plot was still effectively delivered even without knowing anything about the other books, so that's a plus.

I enjoyed this audio a lot and it kept me listening to find out what was going to happen. I can’t wait to listen to the next book when my Hoopla borrows reset.

My only complaint about this audio was I could hear breathing through the audio, it wasn’t eliminated and it should have been cut out. Other than that, no other complaints!

I'm now a huge fan of Blake Pierce. The Perfect Look (Jessie Hunt #6) was a great read. I'm a fan of Jessie Hunt and find myself rooting for her. Excited to find out more about Hannah and what will happen to her. I've already pre-ordered book 7.

Pierce have done it again however what fsmily secrets did Bolton share with Hannah that Jessie doesn't have access to that Hannah knows the death of both Xander and Bolton haven't stopped the attempts of both their lives.

Xander did mention killing the scum of the earth is a family business.

Enjoyable to a Point

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

This the 6th Jessie Hunt book I’ve read. The writing is good although there were quite a few typos in this one. I was afraid that the drama with Bolton, the serial killer fixated on Jessie and Jessie’s half sister would drag on for too long. I’m hoping this book is the last one with Bolton. He was only interesting when he was locked up.

But at least I got the feeling this book was written by someone who knows something about the U.S. criminal justice system. I have a theory (and I’m not the only one) that Blake Pierce is a pseudonym for several authors, each writing a different series. The books come out too frequently to be written by the same person. Even Joyce Carol Oates isn’t that prolific.

The character of Jessie Hunt is likeable, but I don’t think she’s a very good profiler. She’s been duped with the same trick (drug put in a drink) twice so far in the 6 books I’ve read. I know the main character has to have obstacles placed in her way to make the store interesting, but the same ones more than once? If she’s supposed to be so good at what she does, how is that possible?

Similarly, I have to say that Detective Ryan Hernandez, though he’s also a likeable character and I hope they get together at some point, but he’s a terrible detective. How he has risen to the prominent level he has to the point where he is asked to lecture to criminal justice students is beyond me. He’s been conked over the head when trying to question a suspect, stabbed, and then conked over the head again. He is hardly ever much help to Jessie and they aren’t a couple…yet, so I’m not sure why he is featured so prominently in the books, and then sometimes disappears for an entire book. The author seems to want to do a “will-they-or-won’t-they” Ross and Rachel thing that is getting on my nerves.

This will probably be the last book I’ll read in the series if Bolton isn’t dead, but it appears that he is.

All of the books, this one included, had scenes where you get that creepy crawly feeling where you’re on the edge of your seat. That’s why I never read them at night before bed. These are strictly lunchtime or breakfast time reading for sure!

While I love every book this author has written so far this one was no different. This series so so much better then the other 2 series I have been reading. I LOVE those other series but the Riley Paige and the Kate Wise series the author had a fall back trope she used in both books that started to annoy me. I'm only just on book 4 or 5 in the Riley Paige series so I hope she stops the fall back trope but in the Kate Wise she used it in all but one book and by the end of the series I was so annoyed by it.

Good read from beginning to end. This story gave me a break from my other authors who write great love stories, from second chance romances to billionaires and how they find their great love and onto delving into the lives of Security Agents that are rich and how they find love. But reading about psychological suspense stories is very exciting, and Jessie Hunt is good. Blake is good at writing mysteries and I am a fan.
This the third story of Jessie hunt was good from beginning to end. I have gotten use to Jessie and Ryan getting hurt in the commission of trying to solve the murders. This one Jessie had to profile a lady killer who was drugging her victims and then choking them, the thing about it she had the look, piercing blue eyes beautiful figure but she always showed up in a different disguise. Then their was Crutchfield who was holding Hannah and a secret he promised to tell her. Crutchfield killed a pedophile, supposedly as part of the training of Hannah, thinking he could indoctrinate her to become his protege. I loved this story because it was entertaining, fast reading and had powerful cast of characters. Can't wait to read the rest of the stories.

I am having the best time with this series! Lucky for me, number 7 in the series comes out in three days! In Book 6, it appears someone has it in for men who pick up women for sex. This someone is cool, calculated, and quite efficient in her techniques. Jessie Hunt just keeps getting better and better in both her skill as a profiler and in actually use her intuition to avoid serious injury to herself! Hooray! I was beginning to think she'd never figure this part out. As with all of the installments in this series, there are also at least two other side stories going on, and all three are heart pounding and make the book hard to put down. Even if you haven't read the previous five books, Blake Pierce does a pretty good job at bringing a new reader up to date. However, I would strongly recommend you start with Book 1. Lots of great details and history from the first books make Book 6 even better.

I’m really happy that the author finally changed up the storyline of the book. It was interesting to know who the killer was from the beginning and following them through their crimes in addition to getting Jessie’s side of the story. I’m still waiting for that male criminal to come to fruition but I’m interested to see what happens next since the two main serial killers are now both dead.

P.S. I know this is a late thought that actually has to do with a previous book in the series but it just occurred to me that the level of shock and lack of knowledge that both Jessie and Ryan have about BDSM is completely unrealistic. How can you be an adult in this world and not know ANYTHING about it? Sure it might be surprising that married couples are so open with their relationship but the things they were doing are not odd at all. It’s like Jessie and Ryan live under a rock.

When I first started reading this book, I got too comfortable and that shouldn't have happened in my book. I will be on my way to book #7 soon.

Every time I end up reading a new book of hers I end up wanting to sue her for reader's emotional distress or wanting to fight somebody in the book.

**Spoiler Alert**

Jessie Hunt has a little sister named Hannah Dorsey, and she was kidnapped by a known serial killer.

There's a prostitute in this story named Alexis Cutter (Lexi), she was molested by her stepfather and his friends. She eventually ran away from home and got a job as a prostitute. Instead of having sex with her johns, she was murdering them. Lexi left no fingerprint behind, and no other evidence. Her stepfather was ultimately arrested for molesting another girl, and there was a missing person alert out for her.

Have I mentioned I love Jessie Hunt books?! This one is another great addition. Jessie learns her half sister, Hannah has been ubducted by Bolton Crutchfield. She knows on her first day back, she will be kept as far away from that case as possible, so she asks for help. Meanwhile, her and Ryan start on this case of Johns being murdered in hotel rooms. This case keeps throwing them into dead ends until Jessie can pull an idea together. As she finds and wraps up that case, she finally recieves the tip she needs to find Bolton and Hannah. When they get there, of course they split up and wind up stuck in the basement. Needless to say, it ends with quite a crazy twist. And now I cant wait to see where Jessie and Ryan go next.

REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK; FEBRUARY 3, 2023
Narrator: Abigail Reno

I enjoyed this more than I expected to even if there wasn't any mystery to the killings. We know who the serial killer is as well as what is driving her. Nothing new here. There was a bit of regurgitation of what took place in the previous books but, thankfully, not as much as in the earlier book. I think the author just can't help herself and has to vomit up the back story.

Ryan is pretty useless in this book and, for now, not a worthy professional partner for Jessie who, to be honest, does fare very well for herself in this installment. I hope, if Ryan is going to be a fixture, he makes himself more useful.

I’ve liked this series, but this by far was the worst book. Granted I’ve only started book 7, but by book 5 it seemed to go downhill. The books have become cheesy and unbelievable. Maybe because I grew up with family in law enforcement so a lot of this book isn’t true to how law enforcement works. I’m hoping the series gets better. The first 3 books in this series is amazing.
In this book specifically it is more focused on the specific crime they (Jessie and Ryan) are investigating. There is also the relationship that has seem to come to a halt. Jessie and Ryan do not advance much in their personal relationship.

Blake has written another great thrilling page turner of a book. Keeps the reader on the edge of the seat with baited breath waiting on where the killer is going next for the next victim. Jessie on the hunt for the killer trying to keep her mind away from another case she’s not allowed to help with. The book edges on a cliffhanger of an ending just to keep the reader on edge to wait until the next update on what will happen next for Jessie and Hannah. Keep up the great writing. I have received the book free and the review are my own personal thoughts

I’ve really loved this series so far. In this installment, Jesse is determine to find her half sister and Bolton Krutchfield. And her Hannah got a message to her quickly and swiftly - through a LinkedIn message that she sent through a victims phone. She was able to discreetly give an idea of where she was.

Aside from that development, Jesse solved a case involving another serial killer that was a prostitute. And her victims were drugged and strangled to death. It was cool to see how her and Ryan solved that case - pretty smart. Overall, another exciting read! 4 stars!

While the I liked the book - it was a bit predictable. Jessie Hunt working on a case (which was nothing exciting or unexpected as far as cases go) and then having a confrontation with Bolton Crutchfield was not a new concept in the series - I mean it's been cat and mouse since the first book, right? But overall, it was fast moving and somewhat entertaining. Looking for more character/relationship development all around in the next book and wondering where it will go now that Bolton is not an issue anymore.

The Perfect Look is book number six in the Jessie Hunt series. If you have made it this far, I strongly recommend you keep going. In my opinion, each book gets better and better. Though I have found some grammatical errors (which can drive me crazy) I believe the story line more than makes up for it.

In this book a man turns up dead in a hotel room in downtown LA after a night with a prostitute. No one really thinks much of it until what seems like an isolated case turns into a pattern. It soon becomes very clear that the prostitute is actually a serial killer who Jessie is determine to stop.
