Krissy moves her hand in front of Skip's eyes. He doesn't even blink. That's how Krissy learns the awful truth. Skip -- her beloved dog -- is blind! "Animals on this ranch have to pay their way," Dad always says. "We can't afford to keep them if they don't." "Oh, Skip!" cries Krissy, "What's going to happen to you now -- now that you can't see?"

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this 1950s kid lit, imagining my mom and her brothers back in the day on the farm.

I picked this book up at a junk store when I was in 4th grade! It was so good and I recently reread it. I loved these Scholastic classics! Really my kind of book!
