This very readable and easy-to-understand professional resource book is chock full of new ideas and information about technology in libraries. I've read most of the previous versions of this book, and this updated version does not disappoint. The ubiquitousness of technology in our lives, and specifically in our libraries, impacts the way we think about learning, teaching, communicating, and even thinking. We are all impacted by technology and what it can offer as well as how it can detract from other aspects of our learning and lives. This author discusses topics ranging from the historical and current uses of technology in libraries to where the future of technology is headed. Many lists of resources, websites, discussion lists, websites, and periodicals are provided to help librarians stay informed about trends and to help them make decisions about providing appropriate technologies for library staff and patrons. I would highly recommend this 7th edition of Library Technology Companion to any librarian who is interested in technology in the library.
