I’m S.L. Gray, a dark romance author based in the PNW. I write about love that sometimes hurts, characters who destroy and redeem, and the beauty found in all the wreckage.
I went into this one a little blind. I found it on a stuff your kindle day and definitely “judged a book by its cover”.
Definitely feel like the potential was there to have a really cute small town romance read but no matter how hard I tried, I really did struggle to finish it. I found it to be a little repetitive, rushed in places and just didn’t suck me in. Nothing really happened?
Dual POV, Grumpy/Sunshine, Short Story (178 pages), Chte Cover.
In parts it was a little repetitive or rushed but it was a great pallette cleanser read and a nice short book that has enough of a hook to keep you reading in one sitting if that’s your tea ☕️
Loved the characters and the banter between all of them - we love a flour throwing scene 👀👀
Excited to read the next one and find out more about Sadie, Wyatt and Hunter
3 stars because I’m really not sure if I enjoyed it or not. The writing style was nice, the ranch itself had a lot of character, unfortunately more than the characters themselves.
I didn’t really vibe with the flow of the story, nothing really happens. One page they’re having dinner, the next they’re fixing a fence and then they’re just staring at each other. Then repeat. It was like we’re being shown tiny snapshots of their lives but not getting the broader picture.
There’s a constant threat from the rival ranch and I was expecting that to be the main focus later in the book but nothing came of it.
I liked that the three main characters had to work out how to make their relationship work as a three without much jealousy between the guys in the end. Also the guys were cute!
A few formatting issues, like the fmc is called a different name in one chapter.
Zero spice, closed door.

I really enjoyed reading this, I felt like sitting down with a close friend who isn’t afraid to bare their soul. The story pulled me in immediately with its raw emotions and relatable struggles. What I loved most was how the characters felt so real—flawed yet endearing, making me root for them with every page. If you’re looking for a book that feels both intimate and profound, Burning Daylight is definitely worth your time.
It does read kinda disjointed, like we're getting little snapshots of their life but left me confused on what was going on and how much time was passing. But still looking forward to seeing what happens in the next one!
This is a really cute cowboy story. I enjoyed reading it. Some of the time jumps jarred me momentarily, mostly because it wasn’t expected, and there are some open plot points.
I enjoyed every bit of this book! I found myself laughing at all the banter. I felt like I was there living on the ranch while reading this story. This was such a quick read for me that a part of me wished it lasted longer so I could continue to live on the ranch with all the characters.
