Ginny was the kid who loved kissing scenes in movies and always rooted for Mulder and Scully to hook up. Her first piece of writing was a horrendous fanfic romance based on The Three Musketeers when she was thirteen that will never see the light of day.

Ginny started writing romance with purpose in 2021 to avoid doom-scrolling social media and has never stopped. To pay the bills, she is a middle school assistant principal and has been in education for fifteen years. Most of her writing is done on her phone or in the parking lot of her kids’ extracurricular activities.

When she is not writing, Ginny is a very slow long-distance runner or making a dent in her endless “to be read” list. She is the mother of three kids, two exceptionally stupid dogs, two codependent cats, and the grandmother to a hermit crab.

While she started writing during the pandemic, she has found it to be a new lifeline and form of self-care and has already planned her next five books in the series.

The Lady Who Left takes place in 1903, a time when Woman, still had to heavily rely on men and marriage to do a lot. In this story, Marigold has found herself in a situation where she feels that divorcing her husband is her only way out, and the one that will best serve her and her children's future.

As you can imagine, 1903 was not a time period where women could easily divorce their husbands, so it is extremely brave that Marigold sets out with such determination to do this. After being denied by many a barrister, she finally finds one that has not denied her request, so she shows up to his office. But, very unexpectedly, he happens to be none other than Archie Grant, the man she had recently had a rather spicy encounter with at her sisters party, after a rugby match that he had played in. Now, Marigold and Archie have to work together, in close proximity, while trying to get enough evidence to secure Marigold a divorce, and attempt not to continue their affair, lest their feelings interfere with the divorce trial.

I loved the characters in this book, especially Marigold. While she has a stutter, and is often treated and feels lesser because of it, she still has this bold determination to divorce her husband, and she won't let anything stop her. To even think of a divorce in the early 1900s, that is being petitioned by a woman, seems nearly impossible, but she does not back down. I love her passion for and knowledge of bees.

Archie is drawn to Marigold as soon as he sees her at the post rugby match party. He is also very determined to aid her in her divorce, not only to free her from her horrible husband, but also a little selfishly, to maybe get the chance to be with her himself.

This book has spice, some humor, and great characters!

Some fav quotes:
"But she wasn't delicate, was she? She only believed herself to be."

"She would become an obsession if he let her..."

"She radiated conviction, power, and he wanted to be drunk on it, on her, give her whatever she needed in this moment."

"His first taste of her was like sampling ambrosia, how she arched her back and cried out heavenly music to his ears."

Thank you to Happily Booked PR and the author for a copy of this book.

The lady who left

Basic plot:
Marigold is trapped in an unhappy marriage in which her husband humiliates her, has a mistress, and bullies her at every opportunity. When this behavior extends to her sons, Mari has had enough and tries the almost impossible: a divorce from the marquess.
Archie‘s career as a lawyer is mediocre at best. But Marigold‘s divorce proceedings could change that, and he could finally earn enough money to support his family. But because of Marigold and Archie‘s feelings, there‘s suddenly so much more at stake.

My thoughts:
I love Ginny B Moore‘s writing style and her characterizations are always so great and complex. There is always more to her books than just the obvious story.
Marigold‘s developement is wonderfully written. She‘s trying to find her way back to herself and discover who she really is. Not just a loving mother, and certainly not a submissive wife who lets her husband do whatever they want with her.
As a mother myself, I find it so understandable that Marigold endures so much, but as soon as the well-being of her children is at stake, that‘s enough and there‘s no way back and she starts to fight.
Archie is a wonderful man, and that‘s exactly what Marigold deserves. I love how Archie truly sees her and puts her needs above his own. His emotional support throughout the entire divorce process has been incredible. But what I find most impressive is how he treats Marigold‘s children, how seriously he treats them as people, and how important their needs are to Archie. (It is also not to be underestimated that Archie wears spectacles at times and is a successful rugby player 😉).
The longing and yearning in this book are great and makes me empathize with both of them. And although I was very sure how the process would end, I was super tense the whole time while reading.
Their HEA is so well deserved and the epilogue is absolutely fantastic and so fitting.
We learn more about Marigold‘s sister, Lilly, in this book. I don’t want to give too much away, but I HAVE to hear her story next!
Thank you to the author for an eARC of this book.

The Lady Who Left is a captivating read, but it is definitely tough to get through at some points. Marigold is the wife of a verbally abusive aristocrat who seeks out a barrister to help her get a divorce during a time where women could have been sent to asylums for doing so. She has a stutter—I recently read a contemporary romance where the MMC had a stutter and I love that authors are writing things like this now—but she is sharp, bold, intelligent, and the embodiment of persevering through fear so that she could do the best thing for her two sons. Archie is a sweetie pie puddin' pop of a MMC, who takes on Marigold's case as a very new barrister after they have a one night stand-esque encounter and he never thought he'd see her again. He also has ADHD and Eventually they fall in love and triumph through the hard times, but lack of communication and assumptions about what was best for the other often got in the way.

I loved Moore's writing style, it's beautiful and engaging, and I enjoyed the pacing overall, but I thought the ending was a bit fast. Either way this was an enjoyable read with lots of angst and pining, well-written spice, and makes you do some thinking after the ending.

Thank you to Happily Booked PR and Ginny B. Moore for providing me with an ARC!

Marigold has finally had enough, after years of being married to her neglectful and emotionally abusive husband, and wants a divorce. Turned down by every lawyer she’s approached, she’s nearly given up hope when she stumbles into handsome barrister and rugby player Archie’s office. Not expecting to meet the man she had a brief one-night fling with while visiting her sister, the two have a rough second meeting before Archie agrees to help this single mom of two leave her aristocratic husband.

Archie & Marigold
The yearning between these two is so good, and the forbidden stakes feel so high and present constantly. It keeps the intimate moments that much more precious, knowing how risky they are. So often “forbidden” can feel on the low-stakes end, but this did not feel that way and kept me wondering how these two were going to get their HEA. Archie and Marigold’s budding connection is so sweet to witness, and despite their apparent differences (her being a shy bestie of bees and him the ultimate golden retriever), they have similar histories of abuse and build this connection through their shared past trauma. He becomes the best kind of simp for his girl, and watching these two navigate the high stakes and emotional landmines had me feeling all of the things.

Ginny does such a stellar job at unexpectedly making me laugh while pages later providing such deliciously romantic, steamy scenes. I’m such a sucker for the way she blends these two in her stories and I like how there’s also that element of angst and forbidden love here. This was such a sweet story of resilience during a tough time and of a woman overcoming the naysayers (including her own conscious) to prove her bravery. I love the progression of Marigold coming into her own and realizing her strength. There were moments of hope and love intertwined with excellently built tension and high stakes. If you’re looking for an emotional read featuring a single mother realizing her power and being worshiped by a hot rugby man, this book’s for you.

I have had the incredible honour of receiving an ARC copy of Ginny Moore‘s The Lady Who Left, which will be releasing April 10, 2025! RUN don’t walk to get your hands on this gem!

First, the spice in this book, OUFFFFF! The sexual tension between Marigold & Archie is gut wrenching in the best way possible! Throughout the book, you just keep begging for more of this forbidden desire.

Second, everything Marigold stands for is the definition of a woman who has found her footing after being beaten down by a man who is so full of himself. Marigold inspires you to never let anyone bring you down, despite what consequences may lie ahead! Given that this book takes place in the 1900s, women are forced to be the perfect wife which includes staying married to such an arse. For Marigold to pursue a divorce, against her husband who is a person of high stature, is probably one of the most difficult battles a woman can conquer in these times - yet she goes for it full throttle!

Overall, I absolutely adored this read and everything it stands for! Who doesn’t love an empowering bad ass female heroine!

The most I've read about historical divorce in any other book! it's so well researched it makes me happy by the end of the story to see how much that struggle paid off.
love a barrister hero, and he delivers! I should be back to update this with more of the storyline but want to leave it here for now.

🩷A countess who seeks a divorce
🩷The only barrister who will take her case
🩷A one night stand
🩷Lots of honey bees
🩷Yearning
🩷Meddling secretary (i love it right after meddling butlers and housekeepers, lol)

A mother fighting so hard for her boys, she forgot herself, and the perfect protective golden retriever hero to help her remember. An enthralling forbidden romance!

Marigold & Archie
A mousy marchioness with a stutter and a passion for bees, lets her inner lioness roar when her verbally and emotionally abusive husband threatens to send their sensitive and bright eldest son to boarding school to toughen up. To keep him safe, she needs a divorce – a nearly impossible feat that could have disastrous consequences if she fails.
A farmer’s son, bruised and beaten by his father, grew up to become a hunk of a rugby playing barrister – complete with golden locks, slutty little glasses and thighs for days. A little hyperactive and easily bored, he quit the big firm, moved closer to home, opened his own office and now tries to take care of his mum and sisters one small case after another.
They meet at a rugby game after party. Talking turns to flirting and a one-night stand, but then she disappears. He’s nearly given up on finding her again, when she unknowingly steps into his office...

And that’s just the beginning!
I don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say this: it’s not a happy lighthearted read. Divorce in Victorian England is no joke, especially for a woman. However, the plot is very focused on the MCs, their growing feelings, the impossibility of a happily ever after – basically they both lose, no matter the outcome – and it would have been a heartbreaking, glum read if it wasn’t so beautifully laced with numerous small intermezzos; witty, endearing, heartwarming, sometimes delectably naughty little beacons of joy. I loved them! They balanced out the story so perfectly!
Instant yet slow burn, this was a moving and very engaging romance and Archie most definitely is one in a million!

Where to start with this book? I read it thinking I was in for another fun Regency Romance but alas, I was so wrong. This book was so much better and so much more.

We get acquainted with Marigold, our FMC, a marchioness with two boys and married to the most awful human being ever, we meet her as she's finally deciding that enough is enough for her and her boys.

As we get a small glimpse of what she's been through and what she's overcoming, she meets Archie, our handsome (and curly!) MMC who has gone through hardships himself and is a golden retriever hero needing to worship her.

And we see her unravel, we see her claiming herself again, we see her being seen and cherished and empowered even if and when she knows having Archie is nearly impossible.

This book, my dears, was a delicate but very accurate depiction of what happens to women when they are in an abusive relationship without an actual blow. The one where you feel small, and alone and scared because you've been made believe you are wanting, you are not worth loving and are nothing on your own. This is not a mere romance but a call to action to each woman who doesn't know what she'll do if she breaks free.

But I do know, and I'm sure the author also knows, my darling:

You'll live. You'll love. You'll be happy. You'll be free.

Needless to say, this book spoke to me, about things that make my skin crawl regardless of the time that has gone by (years!), it made me remember what a wonderful life I now have and it made me remember how grateful I am.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 and now, one of my personal favorites.

I need everyone to pick this up on April 10th! This’s easily my one of my favorite historical romances ever!

The Lady Who Left is a forbidden, historical romance between Marigold and Archie.

I loved how strong Marigold is. Divorcing her cruel and powerful husband to be a single mom to her two sons can seem daunting, regardless of the time period, but she remained determined to do anything for her sons’ happiness and her own. I loved how her confidence grew exponentially the more time she spent with Archie, no longer afraid to ask for or take what she wants. And I really loved how much her sons loved and supported her; you can tell they love each other, and want nothing more than to be free of their father/her husband’s control.

Archie and his interactions with Marigold are the cutest things I’ve ever read! I loved that he didn’t care about or judge Marigold for her stutter, in fact he found it endearing, and he always thought of her in the highest regard. And I absolutely loved the ADHD rep! There were so many mental tricks and similarities I found myself relating to him on, like needing a way to remember names so we don’t forget them, and in general being a little scattered with our surroundings, when in fact, what looks like chaos to others is organized to us. He’s such a kind and loving soul, and I think so many readers will fall in love with him and his romance with Marigold!

Thank you so much to @ginny_moore_writes and @happilybookedpr for my gorgeous arc! Be sure to grab this on KU on April 10th💗

I got this as an ARC but all opinions are my own!

The way I loved this book is so unreal. Marigold was such a compelling character and I adored her and the lengths she was willing to go to to protect her sons and herself. Archie was like a giant green flag and their first meeting was just magical. The chemistry between these two was off the freakin charts. I loved seeing Archie with his family and Marigold with his family was SO special. Marigold’s husband was entirely worthless and basically scum of the earth and I’ve never wanted someone to get what was coming to them as bad as I did with him. Marigold and Archie’s story and the way their relationship developed was so captivating and beautiful. Archie’s interactions with Reggie and Matthew were so freaking perfect and I loved him even more for it. This story made me cry sad tears and made me cry happy tears and I genuinely loved every second of this book. The spice in this was delicious but not over the top. It was just really passionate and like love-filled and absolutely perfect for the story. Definitely recommend adding this to your TBR!

I really liked it!

I'll be honest, before this book, I didn't know much about divorce in the early 20th century, so I was worried about what Marigold's terrible husband would do. But luckily, Marigold had Archie by her side, a champion for her who did everything to help her and get her and her children out of the horrible situation they were in.
And although it handles some difficult topics, this book was fun and brought me a smile at unexpected moments. Archie is a super sweet character, and I loved the way he supported, cared for, and always saw Marigold for who she really was.
Oh, Marigold works with bees, which scare me a lot, but I loved the passages in the book where she passionately talked about her bees.

This book is part of the Flower Sosters series but it can be read as a standalone without problem (I have only read 3 of the series and still enjoyed this one)

I read this book as an ARC and loved it!

I loved Marigold and Archie and their story had my heart from the second they met. While for the time period they were basically forbidden lovers committing adulatory they were doing everything in their power to be able to be together.

This book had my heart in a chokehold and I loved it! This was an emotional roller coaster that I didn’t want to get off of. I loved some characters, hated others, and had a love hate relationship with others. I get so many emotions reading this book that it is hard to keep track and put it into words.

I do wish they were completely honest with each other about a few things because one thing that happened towards the end could have been avoided.

Overall I loved the book and will definitely be looking into some of the other books this author has written.

This was an extremely intense, original, and well written forbidden love historical romance. A horrible husband who is a peer of the Ton, his delightful wife, a wonderful barrister, and their families made for a very emotional and engaging story. It had verbal abuse, drama, cuckholding, lies, betrayal, a lot of sadness amd heartache, a divorce proceeding, bee hives, and so many emotional issues, and interesting twists that kept me captivated. The characters were determined, brave, strong-willed, and likable. Their family, especially the children, tugged on my heart. I was happy to watch the wife's growth throughout. I really enjoyed how delicious passion was able to grow and become a beautiful love. The ending was lovely. I highly recommend reading!

I enjoyed this tale on divorce. It's usually a one sided story and only positives about the men. I liked how hard Archie fought for the divorce for Mari and her two sons. I liked that the boys didn't gang up against mum and side with a cheating father. I enjoyed seeing Mari get what she deserved after a long time coming. I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this and am giving an honest opinion.

This book was a complete breath of fresh air! 🌬️ Trigger warnings, though: gaslighting.

Ginny B. Moore takes historical romance to the next level! 🔥 I loved her writing style and how it just left me wanting to keep turning the pages and learning more about Marigold and Archie. The story centers on the FMC, who is in a loveless and heartless marriage, and wants a divorce, which was uncommon during that time (1903). Cue Archie, the MMC, who is a rugby player slash lawyer, who falls hard for Marigold but has to suppress his feelings due to her being married.

Having finished it, I'm eager to reread it immediately, and I now feel compelled to read all the books about the other sisters 😍

I read it back in April, and I cried. Lady Marigold deserved Archie from the start. (Eff Lord Torcross) Maybe it's cause I'm also a mom and would protect my two boys as fiercely as Lady M did that I enjoyed this book. Also, historical spice- heck yeah! Can't wait to read more!

Thank you Happily Booked PR and Ginny Moore for gifting me this eARC!

This story was everything! Marigold is so real, she is flawed but she doesn’t let it define her. This story is about her finding her voice and finally standing up for herself and her boys, and her vulnerability only makes her more relatable. Archie is sweet and caring and everything a woman would want (even if he can be a real man sometimes). The forbidden love aspect makes their times together even more steamy with the thought of being caught. It’s also clear that it’s not just lust bringing them together by the very real emotions and actions between the two. I truly adored this story and fans of historical romance will as well!

Lady Marigold Torcross was trapped in a marriage with a man who used words as weapons, belittling her at every turn. It was a life she was willing to endure for herself but when her husband threatened to send their son away to “toughen him up”, she knew that staying in her marriage was no longer an option.

The son of an abusive farmer, Archie Grant is now a struggling barrister determined to make a better life for his mother and sisters. On the brink of financial ruin, a high-profile divorce case is just what he needs to continue to support his mother and sisters and keep his business afloat.

The spark of hope in Marigold’s life came when she meets Archie after his rugby match. Their immediate connection and undeniable attraction led to a passionate night neither would forget. Marigold drew strength from Archie’s kindness and passion reminding her that she is worthy of a better life. Knowing that there was no future for them, Marigold disappears leaving Archie confused and determined to find her. After weeks of searching, he gave up any hope of ever finding her until she suddenly appears at his office seeking a divorce.

Through every challenge, Marigold and Archie became a testament to resilience and unconditional love. He believed in her when she could not believe in herself, and she saw in him a man deserving of great things. Archie’s unwavering support helped Marigold slowly reclaim her voice and dignity. She was quietly strong, fighting against the things that had once kept her down. Archie was there every step of the way, reminding her of her worth and showing her the love she deserved. His patient belief in her abilities made her feel cherished, giving her the courage to stand up for herself. They were two souls healing together, overcoming their struggles hand in hand.

Ginny beautifully captured their journey, balancing sadness with joy, making it easy for me to feel the intensity of their love. Their story was emotional and at times heartbreaking, showcasing the depth of their struggles. Yet, interwoven was a thread of hope and warmth. This slow burn romance and the seamless progression of their relationship allowed me to feel every ache and flutter of their hearts. The narrative crafted here is not just a love story; it's a reminder that healing is possible through connection and that the most beautiful love stories often blossom from the ashes of heartbreak. Highly recommended for those who appreciate depth in emotional storytelling, as it resonates with anyone who believes in the power of love to restore and heal.

The intimate encounters were explicit, caring, sensual and quite delicious! The first encounter happens quite early but slows down creating excellent tension that fits the story perfectly.

I was honored to receive an early copy from the author and Happily Booked PR (Thank you!) All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved reading this steamy love story of Lady Marigold (Mari) and Archibald (Archie) Grant. It is so well written and flows beautifully from the start to the finish. I didn’t want it to end. It also had a very interesting plot, something I hadn’t read about before in a historical romance book.

Mari’s husband is a Marquess. They have two boys that Mari is very protective of. She wants a divorce because her husband is verbally abusing her and is now starting on her sons. He has also been unfaithful to her. She lives in a state of anxiety and stutters as a result. Finding a solicitor who is willing to help her with her divorce has been impossible. She takes her sons and goes to visit her younger sister Lily. While she’s there Mari meets Archie. They have an instant connection and they have a secret steamy liaison. Archie doesn’t know who she is but he spends weeks trying to find her afterwards but can’t find her until she walks into his tiny office.

Archie is a lawyer who is starting out on his own. He is currently building up his clientele by taking any opportunity that walks into his office. He’s stunned to see Mari and why she is there. Mari is just as shocked to see him. He is her last hope for her divorce and she’s not sure if he will help her. He feels deceived by her and is conflicted about taking her on as a client.

Once he decides to take her case, they work together to gather evidence for her case but they are both still very attracted to each other. He knows he can never be with Mari because of their difference in status and his business can hardly support himself and his assistant Jasper, never mind keeping Mari and her boys living in the standard they are used to. If he can win her case and Mari gets her divorce and her freedom she plans to move to America to be with her two sisters who are already there; Archie will have lots opportunities to improve his own career but they both want to find true happiness and be together if they can find a way.

This is a steamy, sensual read. Mari is a true fighter and advocate for her sons. She also loves bees, they calm her soul and she keeps hives to help her emotionally. Mari has been badly treated by her husband and the emotional trauma has left scars but when she is with Archie, who is a kind soul but has his own emotional wounds, they find that they start to heal each other. They are true soul mates and the fight they have to overcome to be together is inspiring to read. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I received a special copy from the author. I’m voluntarily leaving this review.

The Lady Who Left is a steamy historical romance infused with courtroom drama, quick-witted banter, and forbidden passion. Ginny B Moore brings to light a side of history that is not often portrayed, reflecting the dynamics of divorce in the early 1900s, and the acceptance of abuse and infidelity of a husband. The Mama Bear in me eagerly flew through the pages of the book cheering for Marigold to stand up for herself, and her children, and to get her Happily Ever After.

It is 1903, in England, a time where favoritism is shown towards men, and women do not have the same rights, Lady Marigold Torcross is stuck in a loveless, abusive marriage, and desires a divorce to protect her children. She soon discovers that finding representation seems impossible, and any hope at happiness and a safe future for her boys is quickly slipping from her grasp. One evening Marigold meets Archie Grant, a handsome, charming rugby player who she soon discovers may also be the only person who can help her obtain the freedom she so desperately longs for.

Archie Grant not only plays rugby, but he is also a struggling lawyer, who is about to lose his law firm and everything he has worked so hard for. Like Marigold, his family is dependent on his success, and Marigold’s high profile divorce case may be exactly what he needs to get back on track and be successful. The only problem is that he cannot deny the forbidden feelings he has for Marigold. As Archie and Marigold work together to establish a case for her divorce, they must attempt to ignore the feelings that continue to grow between them. Will they give into temptation and sacrifice everything for love? Will Archie be able to break Marigold free from the bonds of her marriage?

The Lady Who Left is a standalone historical romance of The Flower Sisters series. Marigold is timid and anxious, with low self-worth, induced by years of ridicule and verbal abuse, she often avoids people and social environments. Archie is handsome, outgoing, and charming, the only son of an abusive farmer with emotional damage of his own. Complete opposites, yet together Marigold and Archie bring out the best in each other. Take the journey with Marigold as Archie helps her overcome her fears, discover her strengths, learn to love herself, and fall in love.

For those of you who are triggered by divorce or verbal abuse, proceed with caution but know this is a HEA Love Story between the woman seeking a divorce from her Marquee husband (so there is a lot of divorce prep and angst) and the Marchioness’ barrister.
Marigold, Marchioness of Croydon, mother of two boys, Reggie (the future marquee) and his brother Matthew, Bee Whisperer with a speech impediment and beautiful.
Archibold Grant, barrister, rugby player, a little scattered, trying to get his practice up and going but all-around good guy and smoking hot!
Archie, our intrepid barrister, has never participated in a divorce trial and it’s no wonder, they are hardly heard of among the peerage and in the very early 1900’s were still difficult for a woman to get a fair hearing let alone have a favorable outcome is hired by Mari to represent her against her husband.
Marigold (Mari) is the bold but timid, strong yet soft, who stutters (not trying to be mean but it plays a large part in the story) but she doesn’t let that define who she is or her capabilities. She hires (because no other barrister would take her case, especially again a man of the peerage) Archie and that’s where our stories begins.
Ginny Moore tells of Mari’s plight of trying to get freedom from her husband for herself and her two boys with such compassion that you feel Mari’s angst and powerlessness.
This is a dual POV so not only do we hear Mari’s side from Archie’s and his protectiveness and trying to give Mari wings and not put her in a cage at the same time to keep her safe from the world.
There is definite heat and steam but it doesn’t overwhelm the story but only to bring our characters together and allow them to feel knitted together. Although, there is one scene in Archie’s mother’s house with a door between them that is HOOOT!!
This story is a wonderful addition to the series and gives us a glimpse of characters (family) that will perchance be in an upcoming or past book.
Don’t miss this book and the HEA that is soooo satisfying!! Enjoy!

MAY IT PLEASE THE COURT. 👩🏻‍⚖️🌟

This book gave me all kinds of feels!!! And not just as a romance reader, but as a lawyer. Now I have not practiced family law but I have studied it and seen colleagues take on these cases and I have witnessed how the legal system present day still create so many obstacles, imbalance and harm with the good-faith guardians and parents, especially if they are women. So reading a romance about a woman petitioning for divorce with her children as the focus in a time where women had zero agency, support, or influence while also taking on unbelievable risk to not only her reputation but her safety….yeah this historical romance reader lawyer was emotionally nerding out 🤓

In addition to the legal imbalance, Marigold’s story was also about reclaiming her life from an emotionally abusive marriage along with the fear of losing her children, the judgment from society, and the lack of legal protection that felt so incredibly real that I found myself so invested for her fight…Not just for love, but for dignity and freedom. The legal tension in this book wasn’t dramatized for “Shonda Rhimes vibes. It was grounded, intimate, and accurate.

And then there’s Archie *sigh* (Id be in his law school study group and have a crush on him😍). A barrister with his own challenges, but with the emotional intelligence and respect to support her and counsel her and truly see her. Their chemistry was off the charts hot within the first meeting, but I still loved that the legal aspect and romance did not overpower the other. I mean the romance never overshadowed the reality of Marigold’s fight. Instead, it amplified it. Her strength grew alongside the love she allowed herself to feel for herself, for her children, and of course for Archie. This was more than a love story—it was a story about agency, healing, and finding joy even when the odds are against you. UGH I’m all emotional again. LOVED.

Your honor, I rest my case.

In Adele's voice, "Divorce, babe. Divorce".

4.5 stars rounded up. While I didn't quite feel the yearning and the delicious angst to the extent that I was expecting given the premise of an emotionally abused, beaten-down woman falling for the barrister handling her divorce, probably because of the instalust, overall, I loved The Lady Who Left. I thought the difficult subject matter was dealt with respectfully and believably, I enjoyed the characters, and I thought the resolution was fantastic. Archie, the scatter-minded barrister/rugby player/purveyor of chocolates to help manage period pains was just the most adorable, lovable, but still imperfect man, and it was wonderful to read about Marigold’s journey from a mousey, timid, emotionally battered wife to a lioness of a mother, beekeeper and a wonderful partner. I also hugely enjoyed Marigold’s unconventional, flirtatious housekeeper, Archie’s wise, elderly assistant, and his loud oldest sister. The part focusing on the divorce battle was obviously well researched, and, while I don’t usually respond to children in romance, I thought Marigold’s sons were lovely. While this can be read as a completely stand-alone book, I’m glad I read Fern’s book before reading this, because it made Reggie’s character even more impactful.

While I could've done without the ultimately pointless foray into London early in the book, some of the things that led me to round the rating up were definitely the image of Archie in a wig in court and every time he wore his slutty little glasses, the steamy scene at the farm, and the fantastic bonus chapter. This is really the kind of book that keeps me reading historical romance; a story that doesn't shy away from uglier parts of life, especially for women of the era, but that is also hopeful and sweet, without revisionist romanticizing of the past.

The Lady Who Left by Ginny B. Moore is a unique look into the life of a woman seeking divorce in the early 1900s. I can honestly say I’ve never read a book from this perspective before. Lady Marigold Torcross, or Mari, wants to leave her husband because he is verbally abusive to her and her children. He is also having extramarital affairs. Mari has difficulty finding a lawyer to represent her, but eventually hires Archie Grant to be her lawyer. There’s just one problem. She and Archie are attracted to each other. Archie has just left a big law firm to go out on his own, and taking Mari’s case could either make a name for him or ruin him professionally if he loses.

This is a standalone historical romance. It features some funny banter, courtroom drama, and some steamy scenes. I learned much about the laws involving women and divorce in this era. The pacing is medium to slow, and the ending feels rushed. Mari’s development is written well. She is a loving mother trying to do the best for her children. Mari’s confidence continued to grow throughout the book, and I liked to see that, although I wish it had been even more than it was. Understandably, her confidence suffered considering what she went through. I think Archie could have used some of her confidence at times. Archie is a good and kind man, sometimes to a fault. He cares so much for Mari and wants the best for her, even if he suffers. Overall, it was a good book and I liked it. I enjoyed the epilogue. I’m excited to hear more about Mari’s sister Lily. There is a HEA if you are the type who needs to have that in your books. I would recommend this book for adults only due to the spice level. Thank you to the author for providing me with the e-Arc copy. All views are my own.

If you click through my profile to see my other reviews, you'll quickly find that I'm a huge Ginny Moore fan. I have loved everything she's released so far and feel as though I've been waiting for so long for this one to come out! While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading all the books (in order) for maximum enjoyment. Her books are perfect for anyone who likes a more modern writing style with plenty of humor tossed in and lots of strong, forward-thinking heroines (think Sarah MacLean or Tessa Dare).

Last we left off in the series (without any spoilers), the three youngest Waverly sisters found their HEAs, making a grand total of 5 married children for our mama & papa Waverly. All is right in the world, right? Wrong. Turns out the eldest, and star of this newest release didn’t get the HEA she obviously deserves and fate will assist her on that journey while she (gasp!) seeks a divorce from a titled peer. Luckily for her, her barrister just happens to take the form of a rugby playing, golden retriever of a hunk.

If you can deal with the trigger warnings (mainly emotional abuse on the page, physical abuse referred to and the scars left behind), you'll be treated to a really wonderful story of strength and healing….not to mention some delightfully steamy scenes!

If you haven't read any of Ginny Moore's books yet, what on earth are you waiting for? If you have, then you likely didn't even need to read this review in the first place because you'd already be hitting buy/download! Happy reading!

Marigold is a shy lady with a stutter but don't let that fool you. When her horrible husband threatens with sending their son away, she decides she's had enough. Wanting a divorce, which was almost impossible due to the time this story is put in, she's not giving up. When one banister accepts her case, she didn’t expect it to be the person, she thought she’d never see again.

Archie is a former rugby player and as a banister, he wants to help the ones that desperately need it. His childhood was not easy and he’s trying everything he can to support his mother and sister. The two first met at Marigold’s sister’s party, where they felt an immediate connection and spent the night together. She vanished from his life, leaving him in search of the mysterious woman. Just as he was about to give up, Marigold reappears, seeking his legal assistance.

This story takes on so many issues. The plot was hard to read at times seeing how women were treated back in the day. It was a good reminder just how much we accomplished in 100 years, and we still have ways to go when women’s rights are at stake.

I loved how much he supported her. Their connection was there the whole time even when they were fighting it. I also loved the side characters and I’m looking forward to seeing how this series continues.

I was lucky enough to receive an eARC for The Lady Who Left.

Set in 1903, Ginny B. Moore has created a heroine ahead of her time while being stuck in the spot society has deemed hers. Marigold however, has decided enough! After over a decade of emotional abuse at the hands of her husband she's decided to divorce him and Archie Grant, Rugby player and ADHD man of my dreams, is here to help her! Who knew forbidden love would be my newest obsession?

Marigold is a woman of complicated emotions. She has been so beat down over the years that she is incredibly timid but her bravery comes to life when she needs to defend her sons. There were so many times where I just wanted to wrap Marigold in a little cocoon and keep her safe from the horrible things in the world. Her husband is a special kind of evil. Enter, Archie. Oh, Archie. The yearning between the two of them from the start is perfection. This golden retriever MMC and tamer of bees FMC had such a fantastic dynamic. And their shared traumatic history really helped them understand each other.

At times funny, other times tearful, Ginny did an amazing job bringing the story to life and creating characters to connect with. And that Door Scene! WHOO!

4.5/5 The author did a wonderful job balancing the forbidden romance, courtroom drama, and all the details of the MC.

I liked their meet cute and thought it helped to keep them on an even playing field. It’s light on the lead up to the courtroom which worked great for me. There are some case discussions but they’re brief and used in reference to how it could affect the ruling.

The stakes were super high and I felt the weight of them for Archie and Marigold. You know it’ll end well but you still question if they’ll get there and the how was up in the air.

I felt I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book, flying through it and surprised when I noticed that I was already at 60%.

Also, I just loved all the little details that endeared me to everyone. Marigold’s bees and how she shines and grows in her interactions with Archie. Archie’s rugby playing and using it to connect with Marigold’s kids, bringing her home to his farm, and his interactions with her giving him clarity on what path to take.

I just loved it, the tension, their passion - all of it.

The Lady Who Left is the fourth book in the Flower Sisters series.

This could be read as a standalone.

There are four encounters and I found them delightfully steamy with the dirty talk.
