Blood and Absinthe #5

Caught by the Wolf

Rate this book
Book 5 in the Blood and Absinthe series

There’s no harm in looking, which is all Anne West really wants to do. She knows that Gareth, the sexy groundskeeper she’s been obsessing over, doesn’t fit into her world – even if she’s not sure how she fits in, either. The daughter of a famous Fae healer, Anne has never shown any of the power her mother was known for. If that wasn’t confusing enough, she’s just met her real father for the first time, and learned a secret about her origin that shouldn’t even be possible. Crushing on Gareth from a distance is easier than adding another complication to her life.

When the portals to the Dark Fae realm were sealed last year, the werewolves were hit hard. When Gareth breaks into a Fae mansion looking for a way to heal his pack, he’s caught by the last person he expected: the shy art history student he can’t stop thinking about.

The attraction between them is electric, but their people have been enemies for hundreds of years. Can Anne and Gareth learn to trust each other in time to stop a war between races?

I do believe we are all a little like human and non human peoples. This series is like we should be.

I code this book because it took me to my perfect world. I do hope other beings will love this story too!

I’ve decided to start my older TBR to get my list down. I enjoyed this series however, dismayed that book 6 was never done. At least I can’t find it anywhere. Boo-hoo 😒

Ann & Gareth's story is a welcome addition to the Blood & Absinthe series. The storyline is ongoing from the previous books, but this one had a slightly different feel to it, i think because Ann & Gareth are younger than the previous couples, so it had a more innocent & gentle quality about it. Ann is naive about a lot of things in the beginning, but she gradually comes into her own, and the more she learns the stronger she becomes. She is instantly attracted to Gareth, but he pushes her away because of the secret he is hiding. When the secret is revealed he is surprised that Ann wants to be his ally. Ann is on a journey of self discovery, she has to learn to accept who she truly is & she only does that with the support of Gareth. Gareth in turn learns that he is willing to sacrifice everything for Ann, even his mission. Neither of them expect the connection that they feel & because of Ann's innocence & the drama's around them it's a slow burn, but no less potent of a love story. I loved all of the new characters, especially the introduction of the wolves to the series, it took the series in another direction but also stayed true to the original concept of the Fae & vampires. There was lots going on in this book, Ann's heritage & hidden parentage, Gareth's secret mission, friends that turn out to be enemies, kidnappings, murder & a love that transcends species. Although Ann & Gareth get their HEA, there is no closure, it is the start of a new adventure & i can't wait to see where it takes us.

I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series so far and I thought this was another good addition. The book was well written and I really liked Anne and Gareth’s characters, I liked the addition of shifters to this world. Shakes things up a bit. I didn’t expect it but I liked how the events of this book is setting things up for a larger arc in future books. I enjoyed how things ended for Anne and Gareth but I feel like there are still a lot of loose ends for them in addition to the things going on in the bigger picture. I’ll be curious to see how large a part they play in the next book because there are still a few things that I’d like to see happen for them! But all in all I enjoyed the book, it was a quick, easy read and it makes me look forward to seeing what’s going to happen next!

Caught by the Wolf is the fifth book in Chloe Hart's Blood and Absinthe series, and things go from a level of awesome/freaky to just plain crazy. In this page-turner the awesomeness continues where some of the very, very impossible just became possible and real in this story filled a lot of surprises, secrets, danger, adventure, fighting, magic, life and death, old feuds, heart-pounding romances, temptation, self-growth, mystery and inner-battles between fear, control and desire. I heard that there is a sixth book going to be made and I hope to read the Blood and Absinthe sixth in the series soon.

*Sigh* I was really looking forward to this book but wtf happened it was NOTHING like the other 4 books she had written in this series. I hated the ending, I hated Gareth, i disliked Anne. There was no "real" love that I felt from the book, there was no jealousy like in the other four books. I was really really disappointed with the book

I've started reading this book but I really cannot carry on! Was it really the same Chloe Hart that wrote this book?! Caught by the Wolf has nothing like the previous books. Huge disappointment.
