He’s supposed to protect her and her daughter…not fall in love.

R.I.S.C. operator Liam Cutler has spent the last few years watching his Delta Team brothers find their happily ever afters. But growing up on the wrong side of the tracks taught him early on not to count on that sort of life for himself. That is, until he meets Allison. The mysterious blonde draws him in like no other woman has before, and when he looks into her big, blue eyes for the very first time and finds nothing but desperation and fear, Liam makes a promise he prays he’ll be able to keep.

She just wants her daughter to have a normal, happy life.

Allison Gallo is so tired. The constant running. Always looking over her shoulder. The fear. She’s sick to death of living every day wondering if her abusive—and well-connected—husband will finally get what he wants. With time running out, she turns to the men of R.I.S.C. for help. But if the sweet and sexy Liam Cutler and his teammates can’t stop her deadly ex before it’s too late, Allison knows her precious daughter won’t be the only thing she loses.

The danger is much closer than either of them realize.

Without hesitation, Liam springs into action doing what he does best…keeping his clients safe. Though he and Allison both try to fight it, the intense attraction between them soon grows into an unexpected explosion of passion and love. When the threats to Allison’s life escalate, it becomes clear that her ex has no intentions of giving up until she’s dead and buried. But Liam refuses to let that happen. Because Allison and her daughter are no longer Delta Team clients. They’ve become the family he never knew he needed. And for Liam, there isn’t anything he won’t do to keep them safe…or anyone he isn’t willing to kill.

Liam is Book 5 in the bestselling R.I.S.C. Delta Team Series, and contains all the action and suspense readers have come to expect from an Anna Blakely romance. And as with all of Anna's stories, this one is guaranteed to have a happily ever after.

Liam deserved better…

I love AB’s books in general, but over the last 7-10 books, they’ve completely lost the magic I expect, and used to be present, in her other series of books. The books have gotten shorter and shorter. Used to be 250-275 pages. Now we are lucky to get anywhere close to 200. The problem with the shorter romantic suspense in this case is that too much time is spent on unnecessary descriptions of movements, too much time establishing the FMC’s backstory and next to zero backstory on the MMC (other than a handful of random thoughts by the hero which are never explored or discussed). Not to mention way too much time setting up the suspense, while the romance languished. The book had the ONE and ONLY sex scene with only 50 pages left to go in the book. So much opportunity was missed to make this a great book like her previous classics. And only Jagger spent much time in this book and that wasn’t even for the setup of his book, which is next. The other Delta team members were barely mentioned and only got a tiny bit of time in the last 15 pages. The other books always showed the team working together, even if not always in the same place at once. This book was just so rushed and different from the ones I fell in love with.

Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved the story so much, had there been a complete story and not a half formed, incomplete one. Liam deserved a full story worthy of him. And we keep paying the same prices for these “books” even though they get shorter and shorter. I will read Jagger’s story next, but if it doesn’t improve, I’m done with this author. Which I hate to say because I loved ALL her earlier books.

Finally, I purchased a “corrected” (re-edited) version of this book which had a label on it that said an unedited copy had been released by mistake, but had since been corrected and re-released with no errors. I find that hard to believe, because I pinned 30 errors (grammar, repeated sentences, wrong words used, names spelled wrong, missing periods, and one sentence that just stopped midway through without completing the thought). This book was rushed in more ways than one and I hate that AB’s reputation as a great storyteller is taking a hit from all these problems. PLEASE slow down and write great stories again!

The author must have been in a hurry to get this book published. It was not edited. Frankly, the lack of editing was pathetic. There were missing words and added words. The wrong word was used in several places, such as chained instead of changed. In one place the book read "he took a few seconds to" What? The sentence ended at 'to' with no period. On the next page a new paragraph started. So there was something left out after the word 'to.' Also, the cities of Chicago and Seattle would get mixed up. A character would say they were in one city when they were actually in the other one. All of the mistakes made the book difficult and slow to read.

What's with "sweet?" You have "sweet face," "sweet voice," "sweet giggle," sweet, etc. etc. I would say the word was overused.

The plot for this story is not new. We have a woman and her daughter escaping from an abusive and dangerous husband. There is a leak from one of her so called friends about her whereabouts because that friend is in need of money. I have read many books with this same plot.

The whole book seemed as if the author was in a hurry. There is the editing problem. The book was many pages shorter than the previous books in the series. It was only 180 pages. The plot was a repeat of many other books.

Most of the books by this author I have enjoyed, but not this one.

Liam & Allison’s story pulled me in with danger, heart, and a whole lot of RISC Delta teamwork.

Allison is on the run from a violent husband, and turning to Liam and the RISC Delta team raises the stakes—especially with her adorable daughter in the mix. 👶💔 The constant tension of staying a step ahead kept me engaged, and Liam’s determination to protect them had me rooting for him the whole way.

Jagger was very present (as always!) and his humor and sarcasm were perfect. 😂 I also loved seeing the wives and couples from previous books pop in; it really made the story feel connected to the larger world.

The betrayal twist definitely surprised me—I suspected someone else entirely, though I did guess the access/location part correctly. 🔐🕵️‍♂️ The investigation across two cities and states added a nice layer of complexity, and we do get a sweet HEA for Liam and Allison. 💕

Why not 5 stars?
There’s an HEA but no epilogue, and we didn’t get any big emotional moments between Liam and Allison’s daughter, which I really wanted. The story also dragged a bit for me in places, making parts feel a little boring. 😔

Still, a solid read with heart, suspense, and found-family vibes. 💛📚

With Liam, Anna Blakely delves into the emotional and ugly world of controlling and abusive spouses. R.I.S.C Delta Team operator, Liam Cutler, knows a thing or two about abuse so when a highly nervous, mistrustful Allison Gallo arrives at R.I.S.C HQ he immediately sets about trying to ease her fears and getting her the help she not only needs but deserves. She's been living a nightmare and been on the run for a year. Even with the best help at flying under the radar, her ex still finds her. As with his teammates, Liam quickly develops feelings for not only Allison but her adorably precocious daughter, Maddie, all the while telling himself not to mix business with pleasure. I loved that despite her fear, Allison refused to be sidelined during the team's investigation and subsequent mission planning. There are a couple of twists that will surprise you. Maddie will delight you and you'll root for Liam and Allison all the way through this romance.

Book 5 in R.i.s.c Delta team

Hey everyone! Guess what? It's that exciting time again where one of our awesome Delta team members is about to find his HEA! Meet Liam—the tech wizard rocking our team! He's the guy who dives deep into people’s stories and gets to the heart of things. Now, he’s not quite sold on love being his thing, but everything might change when a super brave single mom on the run swings by for a little help. Could she and her little brave sidekick be the perfect match to steal our tech guy’s heart? And let’s not forget Anna—she’s out here working her magic, giving us yet another charming boyfriend AND a total heroine who’s strong enough to save herself… but hey, maybe she’ll let the hero lend a hand! It’s another swoon-worthy adventure you won’t want to miss!

"You matter too"

Alison is fighting hard to keep her and Maddie safe and provide them with a future, she approaches Delta Team for help but never expected to find Liam.....he in turn never expected to fall for their newest client.
I love that although Liam is angry about Alison and Maddie having to run, he doesn't take it out on them, he is understanding, kind and accepting. The "fun" bond he forms with Maddie is heartwarming and he quickly understands how to make unexpected changes or security concerns into games, so Maddie isn't scared more than she already has been.
We don't see as much of the team or their wives in this book, apart from Jagger - the final single team member and his book is next. I look forward to seeing him fall.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

It's a good book. Despite a lot of grammatical error, and since I'm no native English speaker I'm not the one who likes to complain about this unless it becomes really confusing.

Anyway, Allison run and run from her terrible ex. She jump from the women shelter to women shelter, willing to give a chance of normal life for her daughter. She decided to try ending this nightmare by coming to where Liam's work.

Liam, intrigued by Allison since the first meeting, willing to do anything to protect her and her daughter. Danger keep getting closer, so is their chemistry.

What I don't like is I felt the ending is too short. There's some unfinished business about that guy who sold Allison's whereabout because of money. I felt like it needs closure.

You are Important

Liam and Allison. Domestic violence has Allison on the run and looking to Liam and RISC Delta for help. Add in an adorable daughter and the stakes are very high as Allison keeps running but her husband keeps finding them. Liam and the team are determined to help them and in the doing so, Liam and Allison catch some feelings. Jagger is very present and as always I love his humor and sarcasm. All the wives from previous books were part of the story and present for part of the story as well. The betrayal was a surprise as I thought it was a different person, but I did have the access/location correct. A sweet HEA for the couple and case closed that involved the team plus detectives in two cities and states.

Sadly, Liam was the weakest of the Delta Team RISC books that I have read so far. The plot was thin. Allison Gallo comes to RISC looking for protection for herself and her daughter from her estranged husband. She has been on the run since she left him in Seattle but he keeps finding her. Now she's in Chicago and RISC is her final option for safety. Liam Cutler is the team's tech operator. He empathizes with Allison's situation but he's got questions. The premise for this story is a good one but the problem is that the story never delivers. Also there are a serious amount of errors in the book. Continuity, grammar, missing sentences and plot holes. Hopefully these will be fixed but at this time they are not. It stands alone in the series so it can easily be skipped.

Liam and Allison

I loved this story. Allison was on the run for her life with her 6 year old daughter. She lands in Chicago, seeking the help of Delta team. She is hoping and praying they can help her. Liam and Allison meet in the lobby of the Delta team office. Allison, after hearing that Liam is a member of Delta team, haltingly shares her story. Liam believes her, even though he has to run everything by his team before they can start protecting her. They are together constantly and soon feelings develop. Neither of them realizes that they both have feelings for one another. When danger comes calling, will Liam and his team get to Allison before it's too late? Will Allison and Liam get the HEA they deserve? Get this book and find out. Sorry, no spoilers.

3 1/2*

Liam and Allison fall into each other when she’s in his office building looking for help to escape her abusive ex husband. Liam jumps all in to protect her and her daughter Maddie. The coincidences and events sometimes feel contrived. But the falling in love and forever happen under terrible circumstances and way too quickly. And with Liam being the team tech guy he certainly did not use those skills very well when his own woman was in trouble.

Enjoyable book and series — good length for all of them. Looking forward to Jagger’s story and the conclusion of the series.

On the run with her young daughter Maddie, trying to escape her abusive husband, Alison goes to RISC to get help and Liam Cutler is assigned their protector.

Alison is a strong smart woman who put up with her abusive ex for the sake of her daughter. But she has had enough and can't seem to escape him. I loved Liam though. His protective personality was so alpha.

So well done. This story had suspense, danger, a bit of mystery and a whole load of romance. I enjoyed the writing and the chemistry of these two was so sweet. Fantastic book!!

Another amazing book by Anna Blakely.
The chemistry between Liam and Allison is instant. His protective instincts kick in immediately. Especially when he learns about Allison's daughter Maddie. The danger they're in because of Allison's husband.
He will need to use his computer skills, his connections, and his team to keep the woman he's developing feeling for safe and her daughter.
When that very danger comes crashing, quite literally through his front door, he and his team do what they do best. Work together to save one of their own.

okay

I really like Anna Blakely, but this one missed the mark in a couple of ways. Misspelling, grammatical errors, and missing words were too frequent to ignore. At one point, there is a sentence that just stops mid thought. Issues with editing aside, I felt the book was hurried. I wanted more character development and background for both. I also think the team’s involvement was an afterthought. I will still read Jagger because I need to finish the series, but I’m hoping for more with his book.

I gave this 3 1/2 ⭐️. It was short and a little slow compared to the previous books in this series. I do enjoy reading Anna’s books because of the military, crime, romance genre. I thought the romance was good. I think there could have been a little more mystery but all and all a great storyline of abusive relationship, of blaming one’s self and building confidence to overcome the situation. I loved the characters. I loved how Liam built up Allison and also how he accepted her daughter Madeline.

We are back with R.I.S.C. Delta Team focusing on Liam's story! Allison comes to the team for help to protect herself and her daughter Maddie from her abusive ex. Liam feels an instant connection with Allison and protecting her becomes his top priority, even beyond the job. The romance was electric, the tension was palpable, and I loved every moment of this latest addition to the series! Can't wait to dive into more! P.S. Please read the note from the author that the unedited version of the book was unintentionally released. The book has been edited and needs to be redownloaded.

Liam

Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Anna! This story is about Liam (of course) and Allison and her daughter Maddie. Allison meets Liam to ask for protection from her abusive husband. Their relationship takes off from there. It definitely gets suspenseful to the point where you sit on the edge of your seat. The ending was pretty intense to the point that you didn't know who survived. Glad this couple gets to work on their happy ending! FANTASTIC job Anna! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait for Jagger!

Its time again for another Delta team member to get his HEA. Liam is the man behind the tech. Meaning he spends hours digging deep into people. He is not so sure love is for him. However when a single mum on the run comes to team for help he may change his mind. Will this strong mom and her mini mom be the ones to catch our fac computer guys heart? Anna does it againg giving us a another boyfri3nd and a heroine that can save herself but may let the hero help.

Abuse, fear and a power hungry man who believes he is above the law. A woman fleeing for her and her daughter's lives and a man who works private security and will protect with his life if he has too. Heartbreaking betrayal, suspense and adorable cuteness, this is a mix of emotional turmoil and pain in a fast paced plot full of action and wonderful characters. I dived in and didn't surface till I finished it, brilliant read.

Anna takes us on a journey of a woman determined to get away from her abusive husband and give her daughter a chance at a better life. This is a heartbreaking story of abuse, betrayal, murder and a mothers love for her child. Liam is a member of the Delta team and is determined to keep Allison and Maddie safe. It was good to revisit the other team members and their wives and see how they all rally around Allison and Maddie. A definite winner.

Protecting a Mother and her Daughter!

Liam: He never thought when he was going back to the office that he would have a client that needed him. She was beautiful as well. Allison told Liam her whole story! He said let me get with my team and we will come up with s plan. Let me follow you back to the shelter. He said for a bit to keep an eye on her and her daughter. It was a wonderful story!

Liam takes her in to protect, and it doesn’t take long for him to develop feelings for Allison and her daughter. It will take the team to protect her. I love this team and their women. In really enjoyed reading this book. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for Jagger’s story.
