Only the devil can save me from hell. I just have to marry him first.
Michael Hart is sin in a suit: dark blond curls, icy blue eyes, and tattoos etched in secrets. By day, he’s a billionaire tech mogul. By night, a mafia king.
Our paths were never meant to cross—until I’m promised to one of his brutal underbosses. Obviously, I run. Guess who tracks me down?
The devil himself.
I expect punishment. Pain. A cage. Instead, I’m offered a way out: marry Michael and live under his protection. Safe. Untouchable.
It’s a lie, of course. Nothing about him is safe. One night is enough to see the truth. He doesn’t want to protect me. He wants to own me. Worship me. Break me.
And if I’m not careful… I might let him.
Devil’s Tulip is a standalone, dual pov dark mafia romance featuring a possessive, ‘touch her & I’ll unalive you’ type anti-hero and a feisty, smart heroine. No OW drama, no cliffhanger, and a hard-won HEA.
1. He literally switched out her birth control pills with placebos, because apparently why let her have a choice when he can just decide for her 😋 2. “Your role as my wife is to be by my side when we have company, warm my bed when we’re alone—” His gaze drops to my stomach, lingering. “—and carry my child.” …excuse you??? absolutely not. 3. Decides not to believe her about being kidnapped and assaulted, and instead takes his enemy’s word. Yesss husband of the year. 4. He has mini prisons in his house. Why, you may ask? oh just so he can imprison his own wife in them. Not kidding. That’s literally the only time in this book he used them. 5. Oh, and casually dumping her uncle’s mutilated body in her bedroom. And I quote: “I drop it and spill the gruesome contents across the floor before her. Aldo’s severed head rolls to a stop right at her feet.”! Then acting shocked when she, you know, recoils in horror and vomits. 6. The obscene amount of nicknames he has for her. Love, dove, amore, tigress, baby, babygirl… sir, please pick one and commit. 7. Way too much info-dumping about random people I don’t even care about. Apparently it can be read as a standalone, but it didn’t feel like it.
Honestly, I’m done with this 😭 and I’m genuinely surprised I didn’t dnf 🧍🏻 safe to say this did not help my reading slump even a little bit.
As a mood reader, this one just didn’t hit the way I hoped- but that’s a me thing, not a book thing. The story had all the right ingredients for a dark mafia romance, and if you loved Devil’s Lily, you’ll probably enjoy the continuation. There were a few minor grammar/spelling issues, but nothing that pulled me out completely. I think if I’d picked this up at a different time, it would’ve landed better. Still a solid entry in the series and I’ll likely circle back when the vibes align.
My Review: This book was amazing! It starts off as a bit of a slow burn, but when that burn hits… oh lord, buckle up! 😮💨🔥
I usually struggle when FMCs are written as "feisty" because they often cross into annoying territory—but not Gianna. She was written perfectly. The balance of sweet and fiery? Chef’s kiss. She's strong, but still vulnerable. 💕
Now Michael? That man is unhinged in the best way possible, and I loved every single thing he did. Possessive, intense, and absolutely obsessed—and I'm here for it. 👏
Their chemistry? Off. The. Charts. The plot was addictive, the tension delicious, and the spice? Definitely brought the heat—3🌶️ and everyone earned. 🔥
I’m fully obsessed with this series now, and I cannot wait for Rafael and Romero’s books.
2 stars – “I fell in love with this book… then it gaslit me.”
Okay. So. Devil’s Tulip had me in a chokehold for a solid 300 pages. I was THERE. Fully locked in. Reading like I was being timed by the FBI. The characters were complex, the vibes were intense, and I really thought I was about to find my new favorite author.
But then came the final 30 pages — and honestly, they read like a fever dream written by someone who just gave up on logic.
Let’s talk about Michael. Tech genius. Obsessed with Gianna. Kinda hot in an emotionally broken, “I can fix him” way. Until he went full villain arc by watching his own security cameras (creepy), locating Gianna’s birth control pills (yikes), flushing them, and replacing them with fakes. FAKES. As in, “let’s trap her into a pregnancy so she never leaves me” fakes.
Like sir, what kind of Mission: Manipulate Impossible is this? That is not love. That is a walking red flag parade with music.
And Gianna? My girl started off strong. Bold. Mysterious. Seductive. But after that pill swap incident, she spiraled into full-on melodrama. She left his mansion like she was in a K-drama, took up a random flower shop job, and started “healing” while Michael, the drama queen, spent two months ghosting the world and secretly funding her flower-powered self-discovery. Like what is this plot, please???
Also, can someone explain how these two people — who had chemistry, tension, history — suddenly started acting like total strangers in the last 30 pages? Like they were re-cast halfway through filming? Who are you people? Where did the real characters go?
I didn’t mind the darkness. I didn’t mind the obsession. I didn’t even mind the pill swap at first because I thought, okay, we’re going for that “dark romance” label real hard. But the reaction to it? Way too dramatic. Like girl, take a nap. He’s awful, yes, but your over-the-top emotional gymnastics are also exhausting.
This whole ending felt like someone took the script, shook it like a snow globe, and ran with whatever landed.
2 stars. One for the writing, one for the first 300 pages. Zero for the chaotic pill sabotage, fake healing arc, and the fact that I didn’t throw my kindle away
this book actually had so much potential.....i just didnt enjoy the last 100 pages of it and also, towards the middle of the book it got kinda weird yk? its not that i didnt enjoy the fmc and mmc, i just dont think the plot was well executed, bc i totally get what she was going for. 😞
"Saint Michael the Archangel, defends us in battle. He’s our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil."
I just love this quote about Michael because hearing his name triggers a memory of her mam who believes in God. Did she send Michael a Angel or a Devil to kill another Devil?
This is Gianna and Michael (he is my fav of the brothers) love story and it is one tense ride. I loved the banter with all the characters and I just love the world that Roselyn & Sasha created. I can not what for book 3
Dark mafia romance, stalker of a Angel or Devil and marriage of convenience FINALLY an attraction to hate to love 🔥🔥
☆MUST READ & FAV☆
P.s sorry my review is short. With my MS acting up I don't want to make mistakes especially when it's to do with the fantastic story I just read. I support the authors works and I don't want to make a mistake🧡
Gianna is being forced to marry a man much, much older. Her uncle is not giving her a choice. So she runs, two months she gets away until she is found.
Michael is tasked with finding her and being her back. Only once he sees her picture there is not giving her back.
The sexual chemistry and fierce connection between Michael and Gianna was epic. I loved everything about this story.
I love love love this book so freakin muchhh!!! This book was definitely a comfort-read and now definitely one of my favorite book series. it reminded me of The Made Series by Danielle Lori which I love because oh my gosh Michael!! He's the standard periodt. i love how obsessed he is with her and how he would burn the world down for her and i just loved everything about him. And Gianna was such a comfort person for be because i feel like i can relate to her personally, and I'm just so very proud that she finally could escape from her uncle's clutches. i give this book a 5⭐ because why not? it's perfect and definitely keeps you on the hook and the plot is just sooo great. i would definitely recommend this book to readers who love mafia romances, arranged marriage of convenience, SPICE, and a morally black character who's obsessed with the fmc❤️🔥
Dnf at 67% I had to sign up to goodreads for this The book started out exciting, Michael was intriguing and giana seemed to be a “new type of fmc” having her own problems that aren’t the usual “my father is a piece of shit misogynist and my mother is too indoctrinated to care” but then towards the middle and a bit it shifts from that to her marriage with michael which was not that bad either i thought maybe groveling and tension was coming, them falling in love and michael proving how perfect he is. WROOONNGGG, he switches her birth control pills for placebos 😟, and not even the “oh its a dark romance” excuse works here ive read dark romances and ESPECIALLY breeding kinks, this is the weirdest display of that, my red flags were rising just by the description of how “she wont go against his will” WHAT WILL TO HELL WITH YOUR WILL IF SHE DOESNT WANT TO GET PREGNANT NOW!!, at first i thought whew he wants her to work and doesn’t mind that etc etc this man is an ally but the immediately jumps to blame maximo’s wife for the potential birth pills…sorry if im too woke but yeah i wont finish it idc how he redeems himself…
Gianna and Michael were fun to read. Gianna's character was a little confusing because she was both scared/weak, but a spitfire at the same time. I loved how instantly obsessed Michael was with her. Lots of touch her and die vibes. Michael's brother, I cant recall his name at the moment, got on my last nerve, especially when he ambushed Michael with Gianna's asshole of an uncle. I wanted to Michael go at it with him after seeing how badly beaten Gianna was after being handed back to her abusers. I wanted more guilt and groveling from Michael. Decent story that flows well and is a smooth read.
Devil's Tulip by Sasha Leone / Roselyn Ash is book 2 in the Nightshades Series. This is the story of Gianna and Michael. Gianna goes on the run after her Uncle tries to marry her off to a awful man. Gianna can no longer take the family abuse nor does she want to end up dead in a bad marriage. Michael is unhinged person but he does end up helping Gianna. Enjoyed this dark read.
Words CANNOT describe how upset I am right now.I was IN LOVE with this book, and I was so excited because I thought I’ve found an excellent mafia book that would make it into my “favorites” shelf HOWEVER literally at 92% everything was absolutely ruined.3,5⭐️ is a courtesy at this point…
I was loving everything. The main characters had insane chemistry and I was enjoying everything overall but arghhhhhh-
𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: Gianna and Michael
𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚(𝟐𝟑): Even though she’s the main reason I hated the last chapters of the book and SHE SERIOUSLY pissed me off,I still like her. She’s strong, badass, brilliant. She managed to escape from the mafia and remained hidden for months. Her strength is admirable and her courage and determination are evident.
𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥(𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝐬-𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝟑𝟎𝐬): I loooooove him so so much. It’s been a while since I’ve read about an obsessed man and trust me Michael is something beyond obsessed. But he’s also so much more. He’s a literal genius who’s built a high tech billion dollar company ALL ALONE.He’s so brilliant and nerdy and hot. He’s also an excellent leader and a tattooed baddie.I adore him.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Gianna run away from her abusive uncle who’s in the mafia. He was also an associate of Michael’s mafia and anw Michael was tasked on locating Gianna, since he’s the best hacker ever and can find anyone within minutes. The second Michael saw Gianna’s picture the man WAS GONE.He became obsessed even then.He tracked her down, took her to one of his houses where they spent a week together, with sparks flying everywhere. Then Michael realized that he wants her to be his so they flew back to NY where he would declare her as his wife but her uncle ambushed them and took her.ANW Michael got her back after 2 days and they were living together being happy and all.Their chemistry was so intense. They’re both so similar and it was so satisfying watching them together. They definitely belong together.I mean Michael has a huge tulip tattoo, which he got 10 years before meeting Gianna, and her middle name is Tulipa (which means tulip).Even the entire universe wants them together!!What I loved most about their relationship would be Michaels obsession. Not only he was obsessed with Gianna he was so needy for her.He NEEDED her.And that was absolutely beautiful to witness.Their relationship was so nice and intense,I loved it.Until little Gianna ruined things…*
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: (𝟏)𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝.It is painfully obvious that the author favors Emily and she’s trying to make her appear as an interesting character to create suspense for her own story…I totally understand when an author tries to gives hints and teasers about side characters that will get their own story but in this case not only it was too much( Emily isn’t even a side character and I can’t count how many times she was brought up) but it also became extremely annoying. One thing I know for certain is that I already dislike Emily and I am positive that I will hate hers and Rafael’s story.
(𝟐)𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲.*So Michael was so crazy about Gianna that he switched out her birth control pills so she would get pregnant and they would stay together forever.I DO NOT support what Michael did and Gianna had every right to be mad at him. However running away for months wasn’t the solution in my opinion. And not only she left once, but after Michael located her and took her back home, she left again.Like cmon! She was already heavily pregnant and instead of sitting down with her husband and talking about it she run away…leaving unresolved issues behind. It just made me really mad.I would’ve been so happy is she was seriously pissed at him,not taking to him,TELLING him that she feels betrayed and then leaving him, anything but NOT running way for months without a single explanation…
(𝟑)𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮.They were together for months and even though they were both deeply in love, none of them dared to say it.
𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 I am purely disappointed.I was loving this book so much up until the last chapters.Honestly if the book was finishing at its 90% it would’ve been easily a 4+⭐️ read.Anw…Michael is absolutely amazing and I love him,Gianna is strong and independent and I admire her for it and their relationship is explosive and full of tension.

Twenty-three year old mafia princess Gianna Cabello once lived a happy and sheltered life with her mom Agnes and mafia Don Cesare Cabello. He ran the most powerful criminal organization in New York City. However, her life changed at thirteen years old when her parents were murdered with her in car while she was asleep in back. Her uncle Aldo and his wife Marie took her in after she became an orphan. She thought that being with her last remaining family would be good and help ease her pain but they hated and. For ten years of her life she was physical, emotional, mental and verbal abuse at the hands of her uncle, cousin and aunt Marie daily. They all were so horrible, vindictive and cruel towards daily. She didn't understand why they hated her so much and worked hard to do everything good and even managed to got a full scholarship for school. Gianna had done everything that's asked of her and have fantasize of running away everyday. But when uncle Aldo tells her that he have arranged a marriage agreement for her between an evil, vile and wick mob boss who was sixty years old that was it for her. Uncle Aldo Cabello was forcing Gianna to marry Carlo Armani, who is famous or infamous for his untimely marriages. It's hardly a secret that his poor wives accidental deaths were anything but. And yet her uncle expects for her to be next in line. She always knew that when she eventually gets married, that it would be to a man of her uncle's choosing and not her desire. She doesn't understand why he would choose Carlo of all people. That's not a marriage; it's an execution with extra steps. She finally got the lady balls and run away because she would rather die than marry Carlo. Her actions made Aldo looked bad because he had made an agreement in blood with Carlo. After looking for her on his own for two months and being unsuccessful he contacted Rafael of the Nightshades who's an ally his in getting the help of Michael Hart another member of the Nightshades in tracking her down because of his special skills. Michael Hart a.k.a. Mad Hatter is one fourth member of the Nightshades. Sin in an Armani suit, dark blonde curls, icy blue eyes with piercing and tattoos all over. He's a tech mogul, billionaire, CEO and owner of HartSphere a multi-billion dollar empire. And by night he's mafia kingpin. Rafael reach out to Michael to bring home Gianna because of his technology and talent in tracking down people who others can not find. As soon as he Michael laid eyes on Gianna it was love-at-first-sight, and when he saw that her middle name was Tulipa he believes that it was a sign that she was his. Gianna tilted his world off it's axis. He immediately became obsessed with wanting to know everything about her to the point where he abandoned prior engagement to go back to his house to do a deep dive into everything about. He was captivated by her beauty and gold amber eyes. Michael determined in that moment to claim her as his own and damn the reasons and consequences. Gianna had managed to evade Aldo's men because she never stayed in one place but two weeks and uses a different name each time. It was her last night on her bartending job in Seattle when Michael walked into the bar. She was immediately attracted to him. The two started flirting and she was thinking about breaking her rules that had kept her safe for the past two months and have a one night stand. It was that same night when she was walking to the Greyhound bus to catch a bus to Boston when one of Aldo men caught up with her but she would rather die than go back him. The two were fighting in the rain when Michael pull up. He was impressed with his girl and how she was handling herself, then he asked her if she need some help. He shot the man in the head then put the body in his trunk. He then took her to his home in Seattle where the two spends some time for a couple days. She would flirt and temp him into sleeping with her figuring by doing so he would not take her back to Aldo. She had developed a form of trust with him. Michael took her back to New York and was going to tell Rafael that she was his. But when they got there he had Aldo waiting for them which infuriate him. Gianna thought that Michael had betrayed her trust and turn her over to Aldo. Aldo started beating her as soon as the elevator door was closed and tell her that she was getting married to Carlo the next day. Her cousin Dario beats her badly. Rafael tells Michael that he could have any other woman in the city but not her. But she was his and he was going to get her. When Michael goes to Aldo house the next day for Gianna Aldo and Dario was scared of the Mad Hatter and when he saw her face he was livid. Michael took Aldo son back to his house torture and kill him for what he did to his woman. He then convinced her to marry him telling her that being married to him would protect her because Aldo and Carlo would not stop coming after her. They got married and it was smutty, erotic, steamy and raunchy. Michael fall hard for her and wanted to tie her him him and thought that a baby would do the trick, so he messed with her birth control and got her pregnant. But through it all Aldo and Carlo had not given up regardless of her being married to the most feared man in the city. They drugged and kidnapped and set her up to make it seems as if she was cheating and that she had double-cross Michael. Gianna is beautiful, strong, fiesty and fierce. Michael is unhinged, violent, dangerous and ruthless. A beautiful and swoon-worthy story and would definitely be on my TBR list.
I received an advanced copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was marginally better than the first. It has all to do with the power of love and desire this couple had, rather than the plot! This easily could've been an amazing 5 star read!!!! A perfect re-readable fucking hot and sexy couple!! but unfortunately It was lacking...
I think they are my favorite couple in this series and I doubt the remaining couples will change that. I love the possessiveness of Michael so much!! the way his possessiveness and obsession plays here was actually one of my fav's out of all the books I've read this year. However, there were inconsistencies or things that could've been better that sadly ruined the book for me.
1- The first time they cemented their feelings for each other after their marriage was very underwhelming and dissapointing as we dont get any reaction from Michael. He, more than Gianna wanted to get with her since he saw her picture. Yet, theres no talk of finally doing the deed the first time in his thoughts or during that scene. Isn't he supposed to feel over the moon since he kept holding himself back since they were in Seattle together???
Also she was brutally beat up by her cousin yet the reaction from Michael was actually quite tame. He loves her hair given that he mentions it a few times yet again, there was no mention of his anger or him even acknowledging that she had damage done there as well. Compared to Maximo's reaction, it was underwhelming and Michael is more unhinged towards her than Maximo is with Elira.
What happened to finding out the reason she ran away??? or after seeing her bruised up like that, ask her about how her life was with her uncle?? Plus he knows how desperate and scared she is not to go back to that family...even if Rafael says its how it is, there's no way he would let her go back!!! BUT HE DID!!! I mean its illogical!! How could he let her leave? especially with his obsession and plans he had for her!! I would think he would go after her that same day instead of waiting the next day??
2- Rafael is another downfall of this book and honestly I think this entire series. I dont like him. Maybe I was ok with him in the 1st book but definitely not after this one. I get that his father was the head and that kind of would fall on him even though they left and rebuilt everything. But Aren't they supposed to be friends?? I cant feel their friendship at all or their brotherhood bond! its complete bs to me as its only ever stated by characters and never really shown. And even if he is "their" leader, he is supposed to be their friend also as they went to school together, hung out together and they all naturally built that "connection" but I cant connect or believe this for 1 sec throughout this series.
Rafael should know better considering how he is when it comes to his stupid feelings for Emilia. Yet he pushes Maximo and Michael to stay away and not be with the woman they fall in love with! HOW DARE HE!!! if anything they all should gang up and tell him to fuck off considering how Emilia stabs them and him constantly in the back yet always is there for her!! Elira and Gianna are 100 times better as they would never do or have done anything like that. They are both innocent in how they were raised and what they went through growing up. Yet Rafael doesnt give a shot about Michael loving Gia and not caring that her going back to her uncle would mean more abuse!! HOW DISGUSTING!!
I was so elated when he grabbed Rafael by the collar but so utterly dissapointed and pissed off that he never went through with punching his "supposed" friend. I mean Him not telling Michael that Aldo would be there was complete betrayal and disrespect as Michael wanted to talk to him one on one first. Raffael 100% deserved t be punched by Michael for a myriad of things he never told Michael about Gianna. I wouldve been satisfied if I just got that a s a reader!! but no! it doesnt show me a s a reader that Maximo and Michael respect him at all!! Only that they fear him!! which is terrible as He would be nothing without them either!!
How Rafael didnt even apologize or at least look somewhat remorse or any kind of guilt for that whole scene at his house is not right! I mean His friend is crazy in love with her and he just doesnt give a doman even later on!! FUCKER Its not up to him who they date or fall in love with considering his fucking situation!! a HYPOCRITE!!
His book is next and I dont even what to read it or have anything to do with him! Im going to wait until Romero's book comes out first. I dont give a shit about Rafael or Emilia as they keep destroying and not giving a shit about Maximo, Michael, or Romero. so fuck them. I think the author favors Rafael alot compared to the rest and that disgraceful as she should've made him somewhat likable. or at least being a good friend or even respecting them! He needs to be taken down a peg or 2!
3-Michael never explained who he was or who his brothers were. she had to find out herself and ask the housekeeper. I mean at least the basic should've been talked about since he brought her back from her uncle when they said they needed to talk and he brought up marriage. I mean HELLO??? if shes going to be his wife his brothers are 'supposedly' so important to him soo...yea...
She was right in how he literally is a stranger to him while he knows everything and so its unfair to her and it doesnt help his case. I do wish she stayed mad at him longer as even if he didnt know about Aldo appearing at Raf's he knew she never wanted to go back and he still let her go out of respect to stupid leader over her! It takes away the angst and suffering the MC needed to go through because MAN! dod Gianna suffer alot growing up and I just dont like how throughout the book, the way the men reacted like it was nothing. Plus she should've been mad at Michael for locking her up and not believing her or listening to her first! even when Gracie came back and asked to see Gia after her Aunt came to see her. She just fully trusted him while he didnt trust her. yet she gets angry at the birth control pills as if she finally realizes how unhinged he is! How lame!! the other is more significant.
I would think this would be where the author kind of brings together and shows the brotherhood and how tight they are to solve what happened with Gianna and the leak from his computer. But lol seriously non e of that. They just leave Michael to handle it all. AGAIN, LAME!! how can i believe these men care and would die for each other when they just listen to Rafael as a god and not as equals or even as friendship. its a hierarchy.
4- Lastly, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO CARL?? he was never mentioned again and he almost faked her divorce to get her to marry him still!! Wouldn't Michael want to end him??!! not to mention Carl was still set to marry her so weird nothing come of it even after.
Honestly this book was going to be perfect but Rafael was a major turn off, not to mention Michael reaction to Rafael being lame and is underwhelming reaction to the love of his life being abused like she was for years. or his lacking of feelings on her whenever they have sex other than the minimum.
P.S. his flower is Tulip, her middle name is Tulip and the flowers of each man signifies its importance but he calls her Dove?? not Tulip but Dove ><
Boring at the beginning, really good in the middle then got ridiculous.
I did enjoy parts of it but parts were ridiculous. I haven’t read the first book and I assume it helps explain who the four men are and about their relationship. It was a bit confusing at times and I still don’t know if Rafael is the boss of them. Are they mafia, or Bratva? Or just plain old gangsters? I don’t know. At the beginning when Gianna first meets Michael she describes his blonde hair and Russian features, yet his name Is Michael Hart. Confused you will be.
Gianna has had a terrible life after the murder of her parents when she was young. She went to live with her uncle, auntie and cousin and for some bizarre reason that I don’t understand they all hated her. She’s treat terribly with physical abuse and mental, but it never explains why they all hated her. The auntie does get explained but the uncle and cousin aren’t. When she is 24 (I think.) her uncle arranges a marriage with an man who is in his 60’s and has killed his previous five wives. 😱 Brianna runs away and manages to stay hidden until her uncle asks Michael to track her down. Michael is a tech guru and is extremely into all of his technology, with his house being all computer run. As soon as Michael sees Gianna’s picture he’s instantly smitten with her. So why when he gets her is he so cold to her? He’s mentally arranging their marriage and how he’s keeping her for life, yet Gianna has no clue and thinks he’s taking her back to her uncle, as he barely sees her as he can’t handle his feelings for her. Erm… So why isn’t he trying to convince her of his feelings?
Eventually they work things out, (sort of.) neither of them tell each other how they feel though. I could have seriously screamed at these two at times. Their lack of communication is annoying and causes so many issues with them. They don’t talk about anything! After a load more misunderstandings they finally get their happy ever after but I wasn’t convinced. She still doesn’t really know who Michael is and what he does, and I know how she feels as I don’t. She tries getting him to open up to her and he won’t.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Michael and Giana’s story. Michael is a billionaire tech mogul by day, and a mafia king by knight, while Giana is feisty and smart, and has had a touch life. When Giana is promised to a cruel underboss, she runs, and Michael is tasked by another mafia to track her down. From the moment these two meet there is an instant attraction. This is a well written slow burn, emotional roller coaster story, which has family dynamics, friendships, danger, suspense, intrigue, physical and mental abuse, betrayal, staking, secrets, trust, touch her and die vibes, enemies / lovers, kidnapping, heartbreak, revelations, palpable chemistry, survival, and love, which leads to an entertaining, dark mafia romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I didn’t see it, but I just know that wedding dress was UGLY. (WARNING!!! A few spoilers ahead.)
Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I don’t know exactly how I felt about this book because I was genuinely loving it until I was. I’m not really a fan of insta love romances because to me it always feels like the MMC’s “feelings” for the FMC aren’t actual feelings but just simply lust or if not are stemed off from physical attraction or lust and honestly speaking Michael and Gianna’s romance was no different to me. To me there was no chemistry, there was no foundation on which their love was built, if you asked me to pin point the exact point at which I thought she had started falling for him or the exact point at which I thought “yeah, she’s definitely in love with him” I wouldn’t be able to because I simply had nothing to work with except her saying “I think I am in love with him” because except for the fucking, there was nothing in the way that she acted towards him that screamed “I’m in love with this man.” On top of that, I just felt like their romance in the first third of the book was just so rushed. They had only known each other for a WEEK and he was already calling her baby. Like omg, atleast give the stockholm syndrome time to kick in. “Baby”???? After ONE week? No relationship, no chemistry, a few shared meals….. “baby”???????? And boy am I glad the name “Dove” was randomly dropped in the middle of the book and not picked up again, I have absolutely ZERO complaints on that one. Now for the sake of my mental peace and happiness, I am going pretend this book ended on chapter 26 because from the next chapter on wards Michael’s barely there character development was undone and he procedeed to undergo character undevelopment -if that is even a thing. This man literally switched her birth control pills and tried to manipulate her into thinking that it was out of love and it was what was ‘best for her and them’ like he hadn’t literally baby trapped her… actually I might just throw my phone if I keep going. Further more (yes there is a further more because as it turns out, I really hated a lot about this book.) I just hated the way Gianna made it seem like he had forced her to have sex with him without a condom, like she literally concented to it, she wasn’t drunk, she wasn’t high, and she wasn’t drugged either. She was right there in the moment with him and she was doing everything but owning her decision. Actually, now that I think about it, Gianna’s character was so inconsistent, one moment she was a bold strong -such a spitfire and the next she was being so melodramatic and straight up IRRITATING
However, I gotta give credit where credit is due. I can say I didn’t hate everything about this book. Let me rephrase, I didn’t hate everything about this book BEFORE chapter 27. I had actually genuinely liked Michael. He killed for her, he’d open the door for her, he’d guide her by the small of her back, he literally wasn’t shy about his desire for her and he had that whole aura thing going on. “I keep things out, Jake. I’m not kept out.” Literally lost my panties….. The dominance…. “Eyes. On. Me.” Uhmmm okay, whatever you say daddy! And the man was actually funny. Quote “You just woke up, maybe some parts of your eardrums are still asleep, making you mishear.” I literally hollered.😭😭😭😭 I also actually genuinely liked the writing style. Literally the first thing that earned my praise.
The truth is this could have easily been four stars for me.😔 But chapter 27 forward was really NOT it. 2 stars.
Gianna has to leave. She has learned over the years since the death of her parents that saying 'no' to Uncle Aldo wasn't an option. But she was more scared of the monster that he had just told her she would marry in a few days.
The man he has sold her to is infamous for his wife's having untimely accidental deaths. Gianna doesn't plan to be next in line. Her telling her Uncle that she wouldn't do it didn't go over well, but she refused to bow down this time. She looked at her closet. If she was leaving with just the clothes on her back she needed to plan those layers well.
Michael, a tech genius, known by everyone in the underworld as the 'Mad Hatter'. Everyone knew that of the members of the Nightshades he was the lose cannon that took joy in his punishments.
Rafael has sent him an email to find the niece of one of their top capos. She has been missing for two months without a trace and Rafael was doing him a favor. When Michael opens the email, his breath catches at the beautiful vision gazing back at him. How had she managed to avoid detection for two months?
Then he sees her name. Gianna Tulipa Cabello. Tulip. Fate has led him to the woman named after the tattoos that grace all of the Nightshades. His flower is the tulip.
He finds her immediately on the cameras as she leaves the complex and watches as she deliberately rams a Jaguar into a tree. Climbs out of the wreckage with a smile on her face as she douses it with gasoline and sets it on fire.
It only took him a few days and he didn't plan giving her back.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. These books have their own HEA, but are not intended to be read as a standalone. This series revolves around the Nightshades. Rafael, Maximo, Michael and Romero. You will definitely want to know the full story of how these four men are bound together tighter than brothers of blood.
Michael would die for his brothers, but no-one, even the Nightshades will keep him from Gianna.
This book is action-packed and full of danger. Michael is a tech genius and Gianna wasn't the only thing he found. He also found out the real reason her parents were killed and the lies that covered it up.
If you like dark mafia romance with morally gray men who will do everything to protect their woman, you will love this series. There are several twists and Gianna doesn't let anyone walk over her and take away her choices as she was forced to in the household of the uncle and aunt. Highly recommend!
This is the second book of the nightshade series and I do recommend that you read them in order. Well, the individual couples story is a standalone, the series features a group of men who consider themselves brotherhood, and there is historical information to be gained through reading the stories in order that help you understand the additional arcs that continue through the series as it unfolds. There is one couple story which has not yet completely unfolded, which begins in the first book. You’ll be doing yourself a disservice by the time their story rolls around if you haven’t read the other books. The author is rolling out quite a tale in the series. And the individual stories do not disappoint. In the story, she was promised by her mafia uncle in marriage to a man old enough to be her grandfather. She goes on the run to avoid this fate. He is a security and tracking specialist and is asked to find her. From the time he sees her, he knows that he is not going to let her go. They have instant chemistry, but there is definitely a lot working against them, but he is not above using a little manipulation to get what he wants whether it is manipulating her into marrying him or the length he will go to to bind her to him. He is definitely a little unhinged, but he is also completely obsessed with her. She is smart and sassy and determined not to just let men run her life. She is falling for her hot and slightly crazy husband, their spice is off the hook. They have some push and pull but it is clear early on these two have a hard time keeping their hands off each other and are definitely building a marriage. There is mafia drama surrounding them, and they have some to navigate on their way to their happily ever after. This does not end on a cliffhanger for the two of them, but definitely leaves an opening into the next book. The author does a great job with character development here, and your immediately feel very invested in these two.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ohhh child. I don't think I am ever going to get over this story. These two authors have been hitting them out of the park with each book in this series.
Michael, he is obsessive, unhinged and a total control freak. But what works is that even being a walking red flag to a bull, he subconsciously does everything to protect her and to her liking.
I am also adding reciliance as one of Gianna's middle names. That girl will do everything needed to survive. My heart broke with the way she was treated by family, where she should have felt protected and cherished. But she was used and abused both physically and mentally, so it is natural that she ran away and developed tricks to survive in a cut-throat world.
These two were perfection on paper. I laughed, I cringed (in a good way), I rooted, I teared up and had to turn off my Kindle when I got overheated (winks). The story flowed flawlessly, and I loved the patterns and links between names and pasts.
I am genuinely looking forward to the next in the series and would highly recommend this to all mafia romance lovers.
I’m being very generous with the two star rating right now because what was that honestly, I have no words because the first half of this book was great. It was intriguing. It was interesting. Michael was interesting and mysterious
Gianna was interesting. she was seductive. She was mysterious and she was smart and quick on her feet.
I love that the book was giving in the beginning but halfway through when we find out he’s switching around birth control pills and then he quick to blame Elira thinking she’s influencing her to take the pills like huh??? maybe my girl just didn’t wanna be pregnant and she wasn’t ready to have kids which was true. She did not want to have kids and also he on the other hand is shocked when she’s like wait so you baby trap me are you insane?
AND DOESNT TELL HER TILL SHE’S 6 MONTHS PREGNANT?!?!
He was like but you know I’m in love with you. I wanted to keep you and she’s like so “You switched out my birth control this whole time. I thought it was just a fluke in my birth control and you just switched it out and purposely got me pregnant.” This threw me for a loop guys and I’ve read other dark romances where they handled breeding kink way better.
I’m sorry just what the fuck but the first book was great. This one lost the sauce but two was generous one star for Gianna second star for the first 50% of this book, the rest gets dust from me. Thank you. That is all.
Dark. Suspenseful. Steamy. If you love your Mafia romance with a touch of danger that gets you hot under the collar, then Devil’s Tulip by Sasha Leon is an absolute must-read. This second installment in the Nightshades series delivers all the intensity, grit, and passion you could want — with a Mafia anti-hero who will haunt your dreams and a heroine you’ll fiercely root for.
Michael Roselyn Ash is dark Mafia perfection — from his tattoos and piercings to his sharp suits and even sharper instincts. He’s the kind of man who hides deadly secrets beneath a perfect exterior, and when he’s tasked with retrieving runaway Gianna for another Mafia family, everything changes. One look at her, and he knows she’s his. The chemistry between them? Off the charts. Electric. Unrelenting. Deliciously dangerous.
Gianna is a survivor. What she’s endured at the hands of the aunt, uncle, and cousin who should have protected her is heartbreaking. But she’s strong, and you’ll fall in love with her resilience — just don’t let Michael find out, or you might end up locked in his cellar. The push and pull between them is addictive, and the slow build of trust, heat, and power dynamics will have you flipping pages late into the night.
There’s a layered suspense thread that started in book one and continues to twist its way through this installment — and with the promise of more to come, the stakes are only getting higher. Sasha Leon delivers a spot-on HEA with all the intensity, emotion, and edge-of-your-seat drama you could ask for in a dark Mafia romance.
If you’re craving a read that’s equal parts danger, heat, and emotion — Devil’s Tulip will not disappoint.
The Devil’s Tulip had all the ingredients to be an exciting read, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
One of my biggest struggles with this book was the pacing — the story felt dragged out and overly long, which made it hard to stay fully engaged. I found myself wishing it would get to the point faster. I’m also much more invested in Emilia and Rafael’s storyline, and this installment felt like it veered too far away from the emotional pull and tension. At times, it felt like filler rather than meaningful development.
The characters also didn’t feel as sharp or compelling here; some of the dialogue and actions seemed repetitive, which dulled the impact of the bigger moments. I kept waiting for that spark I felt earlier in the series, and it just didn’t quite come.
That said, the author’s writing style is still immersive — she has a real talent for creating atmosphere and tension when it hits right. There were a few moments that pulled me back in, especially with the small glimpses of emotional depth between characters that reminded me why I picked up the series in the first place.
Overall, The Devil’s Tulip wasn’t my favorite. It felt like a detour rather than a strong continuation. I’m still curious to see how Emilia and Rafael’s story ultimately unfolds, but this one left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.
From the very beginning this book grabs your attention and has your heart racing with panic for Gianna and sympathy for all she has endured. Gianna’s family are truly horrific people who have mistreated for years, but now they have pushed her too far and her only way out is to run. With her on the run and her family ties to the mafia, she knows she has to be very diligent and always on the move, but when Michael is sent after her she doesn’t really stand a chance. Michael becomes obsessed with Gianna from the moment he lays eyes on her photo, and he isn’t willing to let her go for anything, but there are so many layers to this story that you can’t be sure which direction things will go. Gianna doesn’t trust easy and that is very understanding so when Michael does things that continuously have her questioning if he truly cares, she wants to take off again and she does. I understood her pain and mistrust, but the way she ran towards the end made her seem immature. Take your time to be upset and room for space but to cut the guy out completely or to think you have in your situation just didn’t seem right to me. Over than that one hiccup I had, I devoured this intense story, and I truly loved it! Now I want to go back and read the previous book while I not so patiently wait of Rafael’s story because that is going to be a very intriguing read as well.
It took me a while to finally finish this one but not bc of the book itself, I just wasn't in a reading mood I have been stuck on Audiobooks instead 😅 which I recently found out this series is slowly releasing some! So I will definitely be doing a re-read once they're all out! Anyways on to the review.. I absolutely LOVED this book. 🖤🫠🥵 Michael is *swoon*. He's so domineering & a total nut case 😆 but in the craziest, funniest & best ways. Gia was a bit irritating at times but mostly I liked her, she was very strong willed & adamant about who she was & her goals in life. The larger plot is slow but steady & I like the little peaks into the past we got with the last book & now this one, having the different perspectives has been nice. As for the overall plot for Michael & Gia's story it's pretty evenly paced & definitely full of twists & surprises! Also full of hot sexy scenes galore 🥵🥵😆 I swear there were scenes every few pages for several chapters! 😆 But I'm not complaining 👀 bc whhhheeww... yea.. Both MCs definitely seemed really hotheaded at times & both were quick to jump when a little breather & communication could've easily helped but overall I genuinely loved them together & the fact he truly was obsessed with her & softened almost instantly for her. 🖤
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the story of Michael and Gianna. I have to say that Gianna part of this story that involve her aunt, uncle and cousin is just heartbreaking. They treated her horribly and abused her both physically and mentally. She thought she would be safe with them after they took her in when her parents were brutally murdered. However the last straw comes when her uncle signs an oath for her to be married to a man who is sixty years old and all his wives keep dying. She runs hoping to never be found again. But her uncle isn't about to just let her run off like that and hires Michael to find her. He is an expert at what he does. But, when he sees her picture he knows that he has to have her for himself. I loved reading this book. It kept me engrossed and on the edge of my seat at times. There are twist and turns. Lies and betrayal. Stalking and obsession. Moments that will melt the Kindle right out of your very hands. I loved the story these two had to tell and can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.
Roselyn Ash and Sasha Leone OMG what a truly incredible duo these two make !!!’ Devils Tulip 🌷 is the second book in the nightshades series and what an emotional rollercoaster it was and is !!’ Dark , suspenseful and steamy , intriguing and suspenseful, love , passion , pain , tragedy, obstacles, secrets , revenge , revelations, family and friendships, morally gray obsessive and potective anti hero’s , a heroine who has endured so much trauma yet is still so strong and resilient, who you’ll find yourself rooting for from start to ending. No words can possibly describe how hard I fell for Gianna and Micheal , the way their love story just pulled on all my heartstrings and the emotions I was reeling with that I never saw coming. This is definitely a story you need to experience for yourself because in my honest opinion that really is the only way you can experience how genuinely phenomenal it is .
Devil’s Tulip is another addictive hit in the Nightshade series! Sasha Leone and Roselyn Ash are truly delivering with every book, and this one is no exception.
Michael is obsessive, unhinged, and controlling—basically a walking red flag—but somehow, his fierce protectiveness makes it all work. I mean, after all, he is known as the Mad Hatter of the group. Gianna is the perfect match: resilient, fiery, and full of heart. Her backstory is heartbreaking, especially the betrayal she suffered from those meant to love her most. Yet she survives, adapts, and thrives.
💜 “Did you know that my middle name is Tulipa? You probably do. What a coincidence, right?” “It’s no coincidence, it’s because you were born to be mine.” 💜
The chemistry between Michael and Gianna is intense —raw, volatile, and unexpectedly tender. Their dynamic is a perfect storm of chaos and care. A duo that you don’t forget. Unstable, unforgettable, unstoppable.
I genuinely can’t wait for the next in the Nightshade series and highly recommend this series to every dark mafia romance lover out there.
Devil’s Tulip picks up the Nightshades series with a new heroine and another dangerous antihero, raising the stakes in both romance and mafia drama. This time we follow Gianna Tulipa Cabello, Aldo’s abused niece, who is being forced into marriage with Carlo Santiago—a man notorious for his dead wives. Instead of accepting her fate, Gia runs. Her escape is bold and reckless (she even steals her cousin Dario’s prized car and sets it on fire), setting the tone for the kind of heroine she is: desperate, resourceful, and not afraid to burn her bridges—literally.
Enter Michael Hart, the infamous “Mad Hatter” of the mafia world. He’s a brilliant hacker, ruthless businessman, and cold-blooded killer. When Rafael asks him to track down Gia for Aldo, Michael is reluctant—until he sees her photo. He becomes instantly obsessed, convinced her middle name, Tulipa, is a “sign” tied to his own tulip tattoos and past trauma. From that moment, Gia stops being just another job. She becomes his.
