Her Savage to Keep

Rate this book
I’m the illegitimate son of a mafia boss, and a natural born killer.

As my father’s enforcer, my assignments are dark and demented.

I’m willing to cross any line for my family. Until her.

She’s everything I shouldn’t want—innocent and timid with a smile that makes me forget to breathe.

She’s a walking angel in designer heels and the daughter of my family’s sworn enemy.

On command, I took her like a thief in the night.

Now she’s mine—even if she doesn’t want to accept her new reality.

I see the fear in her hazel eyes whenever I get too close, but I see the passion dancing there too.

I know better than to fantasize about touching someone as delicate as her.

She’s off limits, but that only makes me want her more.

Because whenever she’s in my arms, I feel at peace.

And I can’t help but surrender my heart.

When trouble lands at her feet, I vow to stop at nothing to protect her.

Even if that means giving up everything, even my last breath.

Turns out I have a weakness.

And her name is Capri Rossi.

All I can say is I don’t know what I read… From the moment Enzo kidnapped Capri he was thinking about her in an inappropriate way. She’s 20 if I’m remembering right he’s either in his late 20’s or 30’s. After he put her in the cage he did bring her food but for the most part he was just thinking about the fact she was a virgin, she was wearing white, and what he could do to her.

At the end he should’ve told her brother no. How is he making demands when what happened to her was literally his fault if he didn’t fake his death Enzo would’ve been there with Capri instead of having to chase after him to bring him back. Enzo should’ve told him no and kept in contact with his father. He actually wasn’t a good dad to Enzo and it felt like the author made the dad be different to fast. It went from him being mean towards Enzo and telling him not to call him father to being nice and telling him how proud of him he is.

The cousins literally hired someone to whip Capri and went through with it as a form of “ punishment” and the brother turns around and let them be apart of giving Enzo his punishment. They should’ve been punished for what they did to YOUR sister but you let them off. That’s crazy

2.25⭐️🌶️ While it could have been better, it was quite confusing. There was a lot of unnecessary information that didn’t contribute to the storyline, and some of it even made me more confused. It was a typical mafia romance with a forced proximity/forbidden romance plot, but it didn’t feel cohesive

What TF did I just read? Im all confused and I feel bamboozled.

This story was weird and disturbing , with a little bit of madness, with a pinch of confusion, but oddly entertaining to say the least. This book has so much potential to be better that it hurts my soul. How do you go from being the kidnapper and the one who killed her brother one day to falling in love with the person you kidnapped like 3 days ago? This book had me like WTH the whole book. I wanted to DNF, but it was so weird and oddly satisfying to read that I kept on reading.

3.9 stars ⭐️! I could get used to dark urban romances like this! This was my first time reading a book by this author and she didn’t disappoint. I was throughly invested in this book! Everyday I read several pages of this book until I was finished. One downside of this story however was it was too fast-paced. There were several holes in the story that didn’t add up and I would’ve loved more background/information regarding certain characters and situations.

Two rival families.. enemies to lovers, instant attraction, forbidden romance… YES PLEASE. To be able to find a love that makes you give up everything just to be with each other ughhh I love that trope. Both our main characters didn’t care about anyone’s else opinion about their relationship, their family drama that constantly tried to tear them apart, or ruling their family’s empire. They literally just wanted to be together. And in the end they accomplished just that! They built their own empire.

P.S.. I wouldn’t mind Carmelo having his own book.. just saying Ms. Author. Carmelo got my curiosity and my attention.

I live for an unhinged and Stockholm Syndrome love lol I really enjoyed Enzo crazy ass though and reading them being in love was sweet! I hate that Enzo finally got the father he’s always wanted but can’t have it because of Capri’s bitch ass brother…definitely cried when Enzo’s dad came to the hospital

Absolutely Horrible

Good premise, horrible execution. It was loosely thrown together. Capri was weak and clueless to the entire time. It didn’t make sense for her father to leave her so defenseless knowing the threat against their family. Then Enzo was not the brightest. Then the last half of the book with the cousins didn’t make sense. Just an overall waste of time.

DNF at 35% — Her Savage to Keep by Ariya Brooks 📚

What the fuck is going on here?

And I mean that in the most genuinely confused way possible, because I truly have no idea what the hell was happening in this book.

I get that it’s fiction. I get that authors can take things in wild directions. Cool. But at some point, I need to believe that you understand what you’re writing, and I genuinely don’t know if that was the case here.

So let me get this straight.

This girl’s brother gets murdered by this man, and she’s all, “If I ever see him, I’m going to kill him myself.” Okay… calm down, Rambo. Easy yourself, John Wick.

Then the same man kidnaps her off her father’s property, drags her to a basement, strips her down, chains her up, and somehow the second he sees her, he’s already sexualizing her. Fine, whatever, dark romance, attraction, all of that — I know what genre I picked up.

But what completely lost me is her.

You’re kidnapped. You’re chained up. You’re practically naked in a basement. This is already an insane, out-of-pocket situation, and somehow she’s more focused on getting fucked than getting free???

Like, sister girl… are you okay?

She genuinely could not decide whether she wanted freedom or dick, and I’m sorry, but the way she was moving? It felt like she put more effort into trying to get this man to sleep with her than she did into trying to escape him.

And that’s what irritated me so badly.

Even in enemies-to-lovers or captive romance books, there’s usually at least a believable stretch where the FMC is trying to get out, trying to fight back, trying to survive. Here? Even her attempts to get free felt so half-assed that I couldn’t take any of it seriously.

I’m honestly surprised I even made it to 35%, because by the time I hit around 14%, I was already over it. I kept telling myself, okay, maybe it’ll come together. Maybe the confusion will settle. Maybe the plot holes will start making sense.

It did not.

It got worse.

The plot went from Swiss cheese to colander — just hole after hole after hole, and by the time I put it down, I still had no clue what the fuck was supposed to be happening.

And on top of that, I didn’t like anybody.

Not the FMC. Not the MMC. Not the dynamic. Not the setup. It was just one long, continuous ick from beginning to DNF. Just one “girl, what?” moment after another.

This was not for me at all.

Kidnapping honey

Virgin and enforcer were children of mafia kings. One father wanted to punish his former friend for getting the woman they both desired. In his revengeful efforts through the years so much is lost and sacrificed dooming so many. The costs were immeasurable; yet love grew.

However, I can't follow Carmello's logic. What were the consequences for Leo and Stefano for the way that they treated Capri, staking a claim on Capone's home that Capri lived in, getting signatures to have her cast out of her family disregarding your father's wishes, arranging for her punishment that almost killed her instead of attending funereal to bury your dad? Stood by as your sister was beaten within an inch of life in their presence talking about we couldn't stop him. No one in the mafia had a gun to stop Rocco. You and bad fighting Enzo but Rocco could not be bum-rushed? Why would the twins have to hire anyone especially your enemy's servant? Why were they not punished hiring the enemy?

Correct me if I am wrong. What is Carmello's punishment for abandoning his family which promoted Capri to the forefront of the revenge plot? Ohh, it was in a no win situation... so was Enzo and Capri. So Carmello knew about Christian but so how his father to whom he was close, knew nothing about Christian? If Enzo saved your life don't you owe him a pass since he was protecting your family: dying father and sheltered sister while you did nothing?

There is no way Rocco hid that much crazy

Interesting with the violence the men are exposed to regularly yet the only female is Capri.

If Capri forgives her kidnapper then so can I.

I didn't like this book for several reasons. I wanted to DNF so bad but curiosity won.

First - if I were Capri, I would never forgive my brother or deal with him ever again in this life. He was the catalyst to everything happening. He was a coward and instead of trying to take out Enzo's sorry daddy, he pointed them in the direction of his little brother. And the whole reason for faking his death was not a reason that he couldn't tell Capri the whole truth. He claims to love her and they call her Princess but they all treated her like a throw away. He didn't even punish the cousins for their role in her lashing.

Speaking of, the cousins should've either gotten whipped or killed. For one, they were too cowardly to whip her themselves and then hired a madman to do it but had no control over the situation as he went too far and they were just there crying. And a room full of people and nobody could stop him but this a mafia family?

Enzo was weird and too naive to be a mafia beast also. Why if only 3 people knew where you lived were they not the first ones you questioned. Who else had a vendetta against Capri? No one. And then to accept the punishment from the brother but not retaliate on the brother and cousins for wronging your girl! And how was he wrong, the brother was out faking his death while the dad's made peace, so there was no betrayal.

There was just too many what the hells or come again moments. I would give it less than 3 stars but I feel it had potential.

First off Enzo irritated me to my core. He had no backbone whatsoever. Like you’re a trained assassin but sticking around to be your dad‘s do boy because you’re his only legitimate son just for y’all to make up in the end??? Tf???

I feel bad for poor Capri because she was just an innocent bystander in an old love triangle. Poor girl went through hell for basically no reason. I loved her character though I just feel like she deserves so much better than Enzo.

I was talking about this in a book group I’m in but I hate when the FMC’s point of view is how much she loves the MMC, but when you get to the MMC’s POV it’s just how much he likes her body. Like every time Enzo started speaking I wanted to turn the audio off lmfao.

The ending was somewhat happy but not really. Enzo & his dad made up but he wasn’t able to continue to rebuild the relationship because of the promise he made so that he could marry Capri, but on the other hand they got her brother out of the orphanage. This is an interesting read. Again definitely read those triggers before you dive into this.

The Savage and the Princess

After learning her last living brother has been killed, Capri is kidnapped from her father's compound and in a twisted fate, falls for her captor, Enzo. Family secrets are revealed, betrayal at home and just as Capri feels safe, she's taken again. Enzo vows to find her and kill everyone involved. This story was intriguing with a good dose of twists and turns, but I didn't like all the things Capri endured. That would have never happened to a man. Her innocence and lack of knowledge of the family business left her vulnerable and easy prey. I get it, but didn't necessarily like shit happening to her time and time again. I still recommend this book, though. Great job for her second project!

DNF @ 40%

I don't often DNF books but I was having to try too hard for this book. These are MY opinions.

Insta love/lust is fine, I have a few favorites that are insta love and when done right it can be fun but the execution was severely lacking.

The language. Um I guess I'm just confused about why a biracial man would be calling his Italian colleagues the N word? Unless I'm missing something.

The usage of AAVE was awkward at best, almost as if it was just thrown in for funsies. But it didn't come off authentic or organic to me.

The overall story and characters just didn't pull me in.

I DNF this one, I actually didn’t get far at all. But the beginning was already not making sense. First off if her father had 6 children then what happened to the rest of the kids? His wife was pregnant with their 5th children when the MFC was born and why would he want her to marry someone his age? His reasoning was pretty dumb. Then the scene in the car when she screamed for no reason at all. Why would u scream and NOT lock the doors? I’m sure the car was bullet proof.
Anywho I could see where this book was going in the first 5% and I refused to waste anymore of my time.

dark romance - Kidnapping

The plot gave beauty and the beast at first and I wasn’t really feeling it to much but I love we get to see how these character’s relationship progress what they were willing to do and sacrifice to be together. I hated how everybody did these two , a break was something they couldn’t catch . The fmc has nothing but a hard time , I definitely felt for them . Hated their family members . The one thing I felt Like the relationship did a 160 to fast I would’ve love to see the turning point .

thoroughly enjoyed

For the record, this is my first book that I have read by this author. Her descriptions when it came to even a simple kiss or a look was sooo good. Reading this book you was able to envision every scene. This dark romance got a little bit of everything from kidnapping to family secrets and some drama. Not going to lie I got a thing for a little kidnapping trope. Just check this book out you won’t be disappointed.

Her Savage to Keep

This was my first time reading a book by this author and it was pretty good. Most Mafia stories have an arranged marriage, however this one did not. Enzo kidnapped Capri on his father's orders. He instantly fell in love with her. And because they were sworn enemies, loving her didn't come easy. They both were punished and barely escaped death. In the end though, love always wins.

This story had a lot going on, but I enjoyed it with all the graphic content. Capri wanted no parts of her mafia family, she wanted love and to live her life, but she was definitely going through a lot. Enzo was on standing business when it came to Capri even thought their families were enemies. I was really happy Enzo got his happy ending because he had been through so much in his life. Read Trigger Warnings before reading!

DNF @ 46%

I wanted to keep reading, but it just seemed like certain scenes were dragged out. Moments that were amping up the angst started to leave much to be desired. The FMC simply got on my nerves. 🤷🏾‍♀️ A weakling. Innocence is one thing, but this was something else. Enzo, the MMC was so incredibly dingy. Couldn’t sense a set up if it was tattooed on him, BUT he was a hitman…? Nah…

I’m sure others will love the book. It just wasn’t for me. 😬

This was like a really good Wattpad story iykyk. It had a cute adolescent vibe to it. I enjoyed the story, I just wish there was MORE. More detail more dialogue, more backstory of the characters. This felt very rushed and too fast paced. The author IS young so the vibe and pace of the book made a lot of sense and which is why I bumped it from 2 to 3 stars… there’s a lot of potential. I am looking forward to reading more of her work and seeing how she grows in her writing style.

Even In The Darkest Times There Can Still Be Hope 💕

Oh My Goodness, Enzo only wanted to be loved and appreciated by his father. Anything his father wanted his to do he did, even kidnapping the daughter of his father's rival. This story touches on attempted murder, mental health, kidnapping, jealousy and murder. There also a bit of mystery and suspense. Enzo did get his HEA with Capri. Kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾

Enzo and Capri

Man, I didn't know what I was getting into when I started reading this book. But I'm glad that I got into it. Both the MMC, Enzo, and the FMC Capri are products of infidelity, but one grew up being loved and protected while the other one grew up hated and tormented. Enzo and Capri got together and found a love together that they never experienced. Their story wasn't pretty, but it was worth it in the end.

Ok read

It just didn't flow with me. Enzo just got way too soft at the end like your father a Mafia boss. She still didn't mess with her family so what was the point. I feel like he didn't stand up to his name. What is the punishment for the brother. Like this book didn't make sense to me. Jmo

Ok

First time reading this author. I have never read a mafia story like this. Story wasn't bad but it was left with alot of holes. Like where were the other brothers? Did he have a relationship with them? How can one mafia kills off an whole mafia family without any retaliation? Again story was most definitely interesting & different.

This was great

The hate that Enzo had to give up his family just for love and the brother needs to be dealt with for running off and causing all of this mess. The twins need to be put down for trying to take over in the first place. And what happens to the twins they get a

past?

I finished it because I don’t DNF books too often. But this was just not my cup of tea. It felt all over the place. The AAVE was weirdly placed and should’ve been kept out considering I genuinely forgot they were black until her skin color was mentioned. I felt like in the beginning things were out together much better but it got a little out of control throughout.

How Much More

My goodness, how much more did the poor girl have to suffer thru. I like mafia storylines but this book was all over the place and lacked a real flow. This was my first book by this author. I’m unsure if I would read more by her. Her writing style isn’t my cup of tea.

I enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator did a great job and telling the story. At first, I was a little confused with the mafia situation the kidnapping and everything in between. Then later on into the story, it turned out to be a really nice love story and I understood the whole mafia situation with the two families

Brave

Her brother was a coward for what he did. His friend was a coward for what he did. One thing about him is he is going to go hard for his woman. Her brother needs to be dethroned. What type of leader is he.
