If there are only three truths in life, they are these. Women will always try to change a man. Men will always say anything to get a girl in bed. Tyler Mason will always have a long line of girls trying to domesticate him, and none will succeed. If one of these ceases to be true, the world will cease to exist.
These are the rules as college student Cassie Faye knows them, so when she gives up on dating in favor of a man who can satisfy her without tempting her heart, her next-door neighbor Tyler tops the list. Tyler isn’t the type of boy Cassie would fall for, but he’s the perfect guy to teach her how to claim her sexual independence without losing her heart in the process. Too late, Cassie finds out that under his womanizing exterior is an attentive, considerate lover who brings out passions in her that she'd barely glimpsed before.
What if she’s wrong about the third truth? What if the world as she knows it is about to cease to exist?
Ashley lives in the midwest with her husband of twelve years. For eight years, she worked as an engineer in general aviation but quit her job to be a stay at home mom to three precious kiddos. She wrote her first two books in September of 2009 and has been penning her imagination ever since.
I picked up Summer’s Temptation out of pure curiosity. The blurb and the cover caught my attention and I just couldn’t say no to it. I love reading everything new adult; especially when it’s sexy, sweet and maybe a little bit fluffy read. I adore those stories and Summer’s Temptations was one of them! I had so much fun reading this steamy novel. I found it endearing, completely mesmerizing and oh! So sweet!!
This story focuses on Cassie. A twenty year college student at Vanderveer University; she just dumped her boyfriend after he cheated on her and broke her heart. Now after her grades dropped really low and her scholarship was almost out of the window, Cassie promised herself no more relationships, no more boy drama and getting her heart broken. It’s just not worth it. However, she misses sex and intimacy that came with having a boyfriend.
The lack of sex became Cassie’s nightmare. Even the vibrator she bought didn’t do the job. Yes, she could have some one night stands to quench the hunger, but she’s not slutty enough to go with it. Her best friend advices her to get a ‘fuck buddy’ but she can’t imagine herself not being emotionally involved with someone she sleeps with.
Tyler is Cassie’s neighbor; he’s sexy as sin man whore. He’s a guy, Cassie will never fall for. Why? Because he’s not her type at all. While he’s all dark and dangerous bad boy, she always was attracted to good guys with political aspirations. Tyler’s a free spirit, an artist and he want only sex.
“If you go into the relationship knowing it’s only about sex, you’ll be fine.”
Cassie’s sure he will be the right guy for bumping her uglies with without the fear of falling for him. But with every night that is passing and every wonderful kiss and orgasm, Cassie’s heart is more and more interested in Tyler.
This story is so cute! I was grinning from ear to ear all the time; the characters were so funny and heartwarming I wanted to hug them all.
I really liked almost everything in this book; from funny and witty storytelling, great sex scenes, amusing characters to enjoyable plot (of course some of you can be a little turn off with how predictable some things were).
My only issue was the ending. It was a little bit abrupt; I hoped this story is a standalone and the ‘series’ means that secondary characters will get their own book. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. On the first hand, I am really happy to know there will be more Tyler and Cassie. On the other, I am afraid the sequel will ruin my love for them. That’s why I hope and wish Autumn’s Fall will be as good as Summer’s Temptation and my love for Tyler and Cassie will be as strong then.
Overall, Summer’s Temptation is a story I will recommend to all of my sweet friends that like simple new adult stories full of sexy times, cute conversations and fluffy love.
There's a good book and a pretty great romance in this somewhere, but it's very hard to find because of the blatant sexism that runs throughout this entire book.
WOMEN ARE NOT TERRIBLE HUMAN BEINGS OR "WHORES" OR "UNVIRTUOUS" FOR WANTING (OR HAVING) CASUAL SEX, GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!
Okay, glad I got that out of my system. A female author really should know better.
Feels like forever since I last read a book. Also feels like that's my new line every time I'm able to add a book to my read list ^_^
So on to the review...
This book is really all kinds of blah. Aren't I eloquent? It's just there are really no words that better encompass this storyline more than "blah". And to be honest it's not even the storyline. I love the whole friends with benefits turn lovers but this one just didn't live up to what I wanted and sorely needed.
The characters, while not entirely annoying, didn't really stand out. They're the kinds of characters you read about today and forget tomorrow. The dialogue while not stilted in any way, left a lot to be desired. And honestly the story just all out took the path of least resistance. It resolved too quickly with all loose ends being tied into perfect little bows. So while it wasn't bad by any means it's just not a book worth mentioning because by the end of our conversation I'll probably forget what book I was recommending in the first place.

3 Tempting Stars
Reading a good New Adult book always puts a smile on my face. The freshness and naivety of young love, the butterflies in your stomach flitting because of a new and exciting relationship prospect, and the angst stemming from the feelings we get when we’re not ready to put our full trust in someone.
Summer’s Temptation, for me, is a story that’s been time and time again. Female lead is in college, gets dumped by love of her life and in an effort to get over this tragedy she thinks the bad boy on campus can give her the romp of her life without any real and lasting emotions being attached. We all how the story plays out since most girls attach a great deal of emotion to sex.
What I liked about this author’s take on this type of good girl/bad boy screw buddy relationship was the connection I felt between the two main characters. The realness of their relationship, even it wasn’t a relationship, felt honest to me. The banter and playfulness they so easily engaged in was fun to read while they implicitly trusted each other without even realizing. The first half of this book is quite angsty as the heroine is in her own head a lot going back and forth about the decision she’s contemplating. The story really picked up for me around 40-45 percent. It was a coming together of two people with an honest connection to each other. The hero is charming, charismatic, funny, and honest. He’s a boy I could find myself falling for if I saw him walking around campus; the aloof bad boy who only beds girls rather than dating them. It’s the bad boy appeal. The heroine is mostly open and when their tryst is in full swing her tigress comes alive making her as fierce as she in soft. More of those moments would have had me really in love with her. When a certain event pulls them even closer together truths/lies/secrets are revealed to satisfy the reader with good conflict leading to angsty, interesting resolution. The writing here flows easily and even though a few parts get drug out the prose is mostly engaging.
What I didn’t like about the story was that I couldn’t set it apart from others of its kind. While I enjoyed the connection between the two mains, as a reader I didn’t connect with either character. The book works as a solid standalone but at the end I come find out there is more to Tyler and Cassie’s college romance. Summer’s Temptation certainly intrigued me enough to want to read book number two to see where their story goes. However, I would have been happy how the author ended book one as a conclusion to their story. This is a story I enjoyed and am glad I read. I’m not sure I would read it again however. For anyone who enjoys college-aged friends with benefits arrangement will enjoy Summer’s Temptation.
I found this cleverly written little gem to be a delightfully fun-to-read sexy frolic in the New Adult genre. What stole my heart most about this new-to-me author's book was the mixed bag of secondary characters that add to the overall good vibes that the first installment in Willis’s new Vandeveer University Series offers. From a homeless philosopher, who offers words of wisdom for the price of a cup of coffee each morning to a “may-be-gay” best friend to a sexy handsome college professor and a band of good friends, there’s something to catch every reader’s attention.
One of my favorite scenarios raises its head in the form of Tyler, the off-the-chart sexy bad boy with a soft heart who fights to keep it undercover, along with the secret crush he carries for our heroine, Cassie, while all she thinks about is finding someone to help end the orgasm draught she’s suffered since her boyfriend cheated putting an end to their relationship.
This trope has been done over and over – but you’ll definitely find this one a bit spicier and pleasingly refreshing with its own unique twist. The author adds plenty of wit and humor, along with some hot and heavy theatrics in the bedroom.
The second book, Autumn Fall, is scheduled for release in Fall of 2015 – that is too long to wait!!!! After all, there were some pieces missing to the puzzle. So, yes, there’s one of those nasty little cliffhangers --not enough to panic over though.

I can't understand how everyone just forgives what he did. Cheating is cheating. She forgave him so easily and he did what the other guys did to her. I get that he has cared for her from afar but up close he constantly fucked other girls in front of her and threw it in her face. Then he says he has been drawing her for years and has worshiped her from afar? Seriously? She was broken up for months from the other guy so there isn't an excuse for flaunting the other girls in her face. What the hell, he was just so gross in the beginning. Then when I finally loves him and how he treated her he went and brought that other girl home. I don't care that he stopped it he said he kissed her in his room and touched the girl everywhere and her clothes were off. That is cheating, did he go down on her? Did she do it to him? I would want to know. Just because there wasn't penetration by his penis doesn't mean he didn't cheat. I know they had an arrangement but there were feelings and he didn't even wait a couple hours after their fight to bring another girl home like he told her he was doing. He planned it and did it. Period, he's a cheat and that was his first reaction. I would never be able to trust him, sorry. I know everyone loves this kid but in reality there really would be no going back if he did that. And he wasn't even going to tell her! Her friend saw the girl go in his room! He's too shady for me but the drawings at the end did helps opinion of him. My problem is not that he really loves her, maybe he does, but, does that make everything okay? Idk. And the shittiest thing is that the next one isn't out for over a year!!! Who the frig will remember this after a year? Shame, I would have read the sequel if it was out sooner. With that cliffy in the preview it makes you wonder what the hell is going to happen with Wyatt.

I really really loved this story - unless the last 20 pages. There was no bad cliffhanger or something like that, but the end did not feel right. Tyler was such a great character (for a man whore) but this end... ? Hmm. I don't know. It was too much and and not enough at the same time.
I hope one day the second book of Tyler and Cassie will be released. It was announced for the fall of 2015 and I'm a little bit afraid that the author had given up on writing :/
*4.5 stars* I really enjoyed this and it reminds of why I started obsessively reading NA. Been way too long since I've read anything in this genre that gave me the "goosies" like this book and the H, Tyler did.

Summer’s Temptation is a fun and flirty read. As a college student Cassie has sworn off ever having a boyfriend until she graduates. She was bruised emotionally by her boyfriend and is determined not to let anything or anyone interfere with her academics or her heart again. The author brilliantly shows the reader who Cassie is through her words, thoughts and actions. The reader really gets to know Cassie and her honesty is endearing. Tyler is her neighbour. He appears to be the bad boy. Is he really? His behaviour keeps the reader and Cassie guessing. The plot moves quickly. The primary and secondary characters have unique voices and are distinct in every way. The author has given the characters strength in her creative use of language. The reader will like Cassie as she is smart, responsible, respected by her peers, and focused. Summer’s Temptation is a well-written New Adult Romance. Cassie and Tyler journey is just beginning. Their chemistry cannot be ignored. Will Cassie be tempted? The reader will definitely want to read the next book in the series.
I really don't know what to rate this one. On one had, the writing flowed smoothly with a fast pace, but the content seemed to drive me mad. This whole "the love of my life cheated on me, then broke up with me, so now I'm super depressed" theme seems to be a popular one for New Adult books. I have no problem with the theme, but it gets a bit redundant. The main character Cassie ticked me off. She managed to mope about her ex THE WHOLE GOSH DARN BOOK. Like seriously?! Yes, cheating is horrible, and you have a right to be sad, but the WHOLE book? I kept rolling my eyes at her. It made her seem so childish, and it got to be really annoying. Plus, I never really saw a change with Cassie... typically with this theme the character either gets their confidence back, they reinvent themselves, they take control of their life, and yet Cassie simply coasted in her sad state.. I enjoyed this book, but I found myself scoffing at many situations; it lacked some basic reality. Definitely not what I thought it was going to be.

If you are a dozen roses, seen The Notebook multiple times kind of individual, then Summer's Temptation is for you. Cassie is currently suffering from a heartbreaking end to her relationship with Wyatt, the man she saw herself marring. She got so depressed she almost lost her scholarship and dropped out of school. Deciding that risking her heart is too dangerous, she decides she will not be in a relationship until she graduates in two years. This is all fine and dandy until she starts to miss the physical side of being with someone and starts to find herself liking one of her professors a little too much.
Enter Tyler, the next door neighbor. He lives with Cassie's friend boyfriend and is a womanizer. Cassie and Tyler meet a year ago when instead of drawing a caricature of her, like Cassie's boyfriend paid him to do; he drew her as if she just finished some rather passionate bed play. Cassie see's him as a player but also can't keep her eyes off of him whenever he is in the room. Cassie's friends decide they have the perfect solution and tell her to get herself a "hugbuddy", I'm sure you all can figure out what that is a polite term for. (Ok here is where I'm going to mention something that made me a tad uncomfortable, the slut shaming. It's discussed multiple times how no one wants to be seen as a slut and then instances of the women saying what they constitute as a slut but really what is the magical number that makes a woman a slut? Is it one more than how many people I've slept with; is it one more than how many people you've slept with? Can we please stop degrading each other ladies? Anyway, Cassie mentions how being in a sorority is all a façade and it was wishy washy but faintly there enough to make me uncomfortable sometimes) Tyler's name gets put on the list and Cassie thinking she could never fall in love with him, decides he'd make a great option.
Is any of this new? No. Is this fairly predictable? Yes. It is also really enjoyable and I would call this a quintessential New Adult book; it's the type that would make you fall in love with the genre in the first place. The beginning is more of a slow burn, as we get introduced to the characters but I also would get a tingling in my spine whenever Tyler and Cassie would be together. It takes until about 37% in before Cassie and Tyler's relationship really starts but the build up and tension they have before only adds to it. This is all from Cassie's point of view and I did find myself missing Tyler's voice but the author does a pretty good job of relaying his actions, words, and body language to give you ideas into what he is thinking and feeling. You'll feel it every time Tyler looks away as Cassie blindly makes a callous remark about how she could never develop real feelings for him or deals with the professor she thinks she could love. Cassie and Tyler's relationship is a pleasure to read about not only because of their fun banter but as they go through the stages of squishy new puppy dog love, naivety, and the uncertainty, it all feels so authentic for their age. The secondary characters all add a little something in their own ways too, especially Philosopher Dan who is a homeless man on campus Cassie buys breakfast for a couple days a week. His words of wisdom that he doles out, oddly, seemed to help keep the pace and story moving along.
This story is sweet, light, and I found it very refreshing that there was no one I wanted to prescribe anger management to. This has more than the average steamy scenes for New Adult, so don't worry about your toes not curling. The ending is a weak cliffy as it's obvious the story of their relationship is not done yet. Tyler will also make you ache for him but hot enough that as you give him a hug your hands will probably wander down to grip his butt and Cassie will probably make you remember or commiserate with of a time in your life where everything was new and confusing. This book needs to be more popular, read it if you at all like New Adult or just want an endearing story.
Genre: self-pub NA romance Series: #1 in an ongoing series with same couple Cliffy? Um, I guess - no? But it's not even what I would call a HFN.
I really enjoyed this. However, this reads like a perfect mix of Webber's Easy and The Hook Up and might come across derivative to some. The parallels are going to be obvious and numerous when you read it, so I won't be pointing them out here. I do think it's one of the better NAs I have read recently and deserves more attention than it has received since it dropped.
One of the ways it was similiar to The Hook Up besides the obvious fuck buddies trope is the way it was light-hearted in the first 2/3rd and a lot more angsty in the last third:
. . . . CASSIE’S FUCK BUDDY LIST.
“Wait,” Hannah says. “Can we come up with another name besides f—” She puckers her lips. “It’s too crude to even say. Maybe love buddy?”
“There’s no love happening in a fuck buddy relationship,” Liz says.
“Well, pick something else.”
“Lust buddy?” Emma provides.
“I don’t like it. Still too crude.”
“Copulation buddy?” Liz says, rolling her eyes.
Emma shakes her head. “They’re not making a baby.”
“Hug buddy!” Hannah says. “It’s cute.”
Liz’s eyebrows rise in dismay. “Who hugs during sex?”
“Everyone,” Hannah says. “It’s called missionary style.”
Note: altho the typos were not what I would call 'horrible', it could have done with one more round of proofreading.
Sensuality: PG-13 Warning: Hero is a horrible, horrible manslut. He lied about some things so things did look worse than it was but he did give a number - three a week?
Move over book boyfriends there's a new hottie in town TYLER MASON!!! hell yea :)
was really shocked by how much I enjoyed this, I couldn't lol it down I read it in one day :)
a girl with a broken heart goes to her fine ass playboy next door neighbour for some no strings attached sex, she want Tyler mason as her f**k buddy and I can understand why.
I really liked Cassie she's a good character that girls can connect with and I love how honest she is with herself and her feelings, she knows she's falling for tyler and she tries to tell him she don't hide it, plus from her memories of certain times we see how caring and loving she is, and giving Dan lunch and talking to him every weds shows how compassionate she is.
Tyler Tyler Tyler what a sweet heart really I loved his sketches and the speech at the end just makes a girl swoon, he maybe a sweetheart but I loved his cocky moments he's the perfect mixture of naughty and nice.
I loved the friends wish we had bit more group activities so we could see Tyler making Cassie flustered and trying to hide it, loved Liz and really would love to read her story. can't forget philosopher Dan and his wise words.
not too sure how I feel about the ending with Wyatt bit annoyed that he's turned up, I hope Tyler kicks his ass and Liz helps
think this book is one to watch and the author nailed it :)
I was surprised by how much I liked this book considering I found it recommended on a BookLikes list called Book to Fall in Love With. Most of them have been failures for me but occasionally I've found a hidden treasure like this one.
I was hooked from the first page and read it in one sitting (it's gone 1am) because I couldn't give up on them yet. It made me cry but it turned out so sweet in the end. I loved it.
When Cassie’s boyfriend dumps her for another girl, she’s devastated. It doesn’t help that she’s the recipient of everyone’s pity either. Or that she’ll never have sex again. Okay, maybe not never, but since she’s not a one-night-stand kind of girl, and she’s nowhere near ready to risk her heart in another relationship. So when her friend Liz suggests she enlist their hot neighbor Tyler into a benefits only, no strings kind of agreement — and once she gets over her shock — it seems like the only reasonable option.
Judging Covers: While the cover is certainly pretty, it actually almost kept me away from the book because it looked to me like it was going to be sci-fi or fantasy with all that crazy star action going on. In fact, if it weren’t for the contemporary filter on the site where I was trolling for new reads, I would never have given it a second glance. Once it showed up in my search, I noticed the title and checked the synopsis, still half convinced that it was going to mention an alien. But no, it’s just a contemporary new-adult romance, pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I wonder if it’s just me, or if other potential readers have drawn the same wrong conclusion.
The Verdict: I am sooooo pissed off right now. I think I just read THE perfect new adult, college romance novel, and the sequel isn’t coming out until fall of 2015. It didn’t end on a cliffhanger, but now that I know there’s more… 2015?!? That’s like over a hundred years from now. Um…I can’t math. How am I supposed to wait that long? What if humankind is struck by a plague that zaps all creativity and literacy? What if I get hit in the head by a meteor next week? What if North Korea nukes us between now and then, and I never get to find out what happens next? This is so beyond unfair. But I should probably put my freak-out on hold and tell you about the book, huh?
Reeling from the abrupt and painful end to her long-term relationship with Wyatt, Cassie has realized that her sex life is doomed. She can’t do a one-night-stand every time the need gets to be too much, and she can’t even contemplate another relationship when she’s heartbroken over her last one. Her battery operated bunny isn’t really doing the trick, so when her roommate suggests finding a “hug buddy” — yeah, that’s what they’re calling it — she gives it some serious thought, even though she’s a little mortified. But perhaps Tyler, the slice of hotness next door, could be the answer. Women practically line up for him, so he’s obviously good at what he’s doing, and anyone with a pulse can see that he’s looking for fun, not love. So Cassie swallows her pride, gives herself a battery of pep talks, and asks him to help her out. And so begins what I’m sure will long be one of my favorite books.
The basic story line has been done a million times, I’m sure, but this one is delectably different. Whereas most authors would have the characters trying to mask quickly developing, real feelings, this little arrangement goes (almost) exactly the way Cassie and Tyler have planned. Their friends in the know keep their mouths shut. Their oblivious friends remain none the wiser.
There’s no sleeping over, no romantic overtures, no thinly veiled moments of jealousy. In fact, Tyler’s a bit of a douche at times, and Cassie’s heart stays locked up tight. That she’s so scare of putting herself out there actually makes the way the story plays out so much more interesting and keeps it away from the the cliches you would expect in a book like this.
I can’t really explain what makes the story so perfect without quoting half of it, and I doubt even that would do it justice. Suffice it to say, the writing is great, the characters are perfectly developed, and even the secondary characters and details are wonderful, lending just enough background noise to keep things interesting while Cassie and Tyler navigate the mess they’ve gotten their hearts into. There were little moments of sweet friendship, humiliating and confusing moments where I was cringing and probably blushing right alongside Cassie, and then moments where everything came together and I felt like I was living the story myself. There are books I like and books I love, and then there are the books I can’t stop gushing about. Summer’s Temptation would most definitely be the latter, and I’m all in for the rest of the series. Which I need right now. Immediately. Yep, I’m just gonna sit here, angrily waiting for the next book.

Cassie is finishing up her sophomore year at Vandeveer University and is still mending a broken heart, having broken up with her boyfriend Wyatt a few months previous. Cassie and Wyatt had been the quintessential couple; Wyatt, involved in campus politics, was a mover and shaker and Cassie, heavily involved in the Greek system, seemed the perfect match. So when Wyatt cheats on Cassie and finally dumps her, she finds herself jaded by men. The book opens with Cassie at an adult toy store with her best friends, looking to purchase a BOB (battery operated boyfriend). But when she finds that BOB isn’t exactly what she is looking for, she is talked into finding a friend with benefits; someone to fill her physical needs without the emotional attachment.
Tyler is the quintessential manwhore; someone who doesn’t hook up with the same girl twice, yet he seems to have a steady supply of women lined up, hoping to have their chance with the hottie. He also happens to live next door to Cassie, which turns out to be very beneficial to Cassie. The two decide to pursue the friends with benefits relationship, but not without a list of rules the two must abide by, rules to keep Cassie from falling for Tyler, to keep it strictly about sex.
They soon begin to realize that there just might be more than just physical attraction between them, however they continue to keep their relationship on the down low. When Cassie finds herself in a crisis situation and Tyler keeps his distance, she wonders if this is the end of them, and what Tyler’s problem is. He is not there at a time when she most needs him, and when things happen that are not exactly not what they seem, Cassie decides to call off the deal and sever her ties to Tyler. She finds herself nearly as heartbroken as she was when dumped by Wyatt.
This is a story of friends turned lovers and the journey that they take along the way. Yes, it is an NA story, but don’t let that mislead you. There was plenty of angst and the chemistry between the two was palpable. The sex scenes between the two were hot, hot, hot and by the end of the book, I just couldn’t get enough of them. I really loved Cassie and Tyler as a couple and the relationships with their friends were also endearing. As they recall events from the past, you could feel the friendship and their devotion to each other. Maybe there really is more to Tyler than being a love em’ and leave em’ type of guy. What happened in his past that left him unwilling to try a relationship, even though he obviously wants more from Cassie than just sex?
I’ll be honest and say that I read this in one sitting. From the very first page I was hooked and I loved the evolving relationship between Cassie and Tyler. This was a solid five star read for me and I hope we don’t have to wait long for the second installment in the series.
*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
What is it about a bad boy that is so attractive?
Cassie’s had a rough time in the romance department and she isn’t even out of university. Both her boyfriends have cheated on her so it’s understandable that all she wants out of the love lottery. Enter Tyler, resident bad boy, womanizer and none other than her next door neighbour. Cassie is more than aware of this fact; it’s what makes her so attracted to him, he can give her exactly what she wants - a ‘relationship’ with no strings. It’s the perfect arrangement, until it isn’t.
This wasn’t a conventional love story; in fact I’m not sure if I would call it a love story more like an intense game of cat and mouse. Cassie is what I would call a strong minded independent woman, a good girl but she hasn’t had much luck with men. Unfortunately she has to deal with the one big problem it seems girls always struggle with; not losing her heart over sex. There is of course that evil little question, ‘what if?’ What if Tyler liked her too? He calls her Cupcake and has a soft side she never expected.
I was hooked into this book; it wasn’t silly and frustrating at all like some romances can be, the characters were all very intriguing. It was deep, mature and very realistic. Cassie has to fight her feelings for Tyler, the unobtainable bad boy and ignore her attraction for none other than her professor, her gorgeous, British professor. (Okay so I'm a bit lost on the British accent being sexy??? I'm British so I may not see it but will someone please explain the allure!?)
This book was a rollercoaster of highs and lows, complicated feelings and even life threatening situations. I absolutely loved it; it will keep you on your toes.
I feel really evil about that little half star I got rid of but I’m worried. The book was so perfect and then I got to the end of the book and read the epilogue (possibly an extract from the start of the next book) and for me it ruined the nice ending. Yes, it was a cliff-hanger. Yes, this is common in books. (And yes, it was evil; they always are). It is clear from it that the next book will again be told from Cassie’s POV and as is the way with books that are primarily romance something big must happen to make the story interesting; I fear that it is going to spoil the incredibleness of this first book and in a way degraded the series.
Man, I can't believe just a few weeks ago I was in a reading slump. I have been loving the books I have picked up since SO FREAKIN' MUCH! Summers Temptation kept me up until 2:30 am on a work night because I couldn't stop reading. I have found my new book boyfriend, fell in love with the characters and the romance was just what I was looking for, and I didn't even know before I started reading. This is a great new adult contemporary. A great one!
Cassie is still reeling from her last heartbreak, and she has sworn off guys. Oh honey, I have heard that one before. But I give her props, she really stuck to it better than I thought she would be able to. She was able to convince herself that what she was doing was really no strings attached. But as much as I loved Cassie, I loved Tyler more. He was such an interesting conundrum. On one hand, he really did seem like such cold player, but then you get these little glimpses of the cracks in his facade. I lived for those moments. When we got to see the real Tyler. And each time, I liked him a little more.
I don't want to give too much away because this book is so fantastic as a complete story. There are ups and downs. Moments when I was smiling so big and cheering them on, and moments when I was close to tears. Lots and lots of feels in this one. I loved the characters quirks and by the end of the book, I was left with this overwhelming feeling of wanting to go back and read it again. I wish I had this one in a physical book so I could flag a bunch of pages and passages to go back and revisit again. I think this book stands alone, but there are still some things that I want answers on. Like the sick girl from the pictures Tyler has. I want to know more about her. I am super excited that there is going to be another book and it looks like it is still going to be about Cassie and Tyler! I can't wait. I love Tyler so much, that I want 6 more books about him!
Summers Temptation is such a tempting romance. Readers of New Adult will love this one! It is a winner! One of my favorites of 2014.
Happy now, Stephanie? I read and I loved it. Though it may not be that original, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. But it's not perfect and I did have a few issues with it.
Normally I give a short summary, but I don't feel like doing that because it's practically the same as any other NA book. And that's also the first thing that is starting to bother me. And that's not just this book, it's every NA book these days. After a while I grow tired of this formula. Hot girl, who doesn't know how hot she is supposedly, doesn't want to fall in love but does with a very hot guy who's also sweet and caring and bla bla bla. Come on people, if I looked like the girls in these books, I wouldn't have so many problems with self-esteem. Seriously. From now on, every book that does this, loses a half star.
The other thing I didn't like was that the story of Tyler and Cassie didn't end. It goes on in the next book while it could have easily ended in this book. Just a few more chapters would've been enough and the book wouldn't have been too long. Because while my ebook version is 298 pages, the last thirty or so were a preview for the next book. The author could've just closed their storyline and started a new one in the next book. Because I'm afraid another book about the two of them will lead to some very unnecessary conflict. And I don't like that.
Don't get me wrong, this is still a good book. And I'm eternally grateful it converted my best friend to contemporary books. I did like the chemistry between Tyler and Cassie and I liked all the other characters. I would've loved to see more Freddy! (See, if you'd finished T&C story in this book, the next could've been about Freddy!) And the erotic scenes were very good, so I have nothing to complain about on that account.
Summer's Temptation is a good, enjoyable New Adult book. It's a great summer read and I recommend it to mainly newbies in the New Adult genre. Even if you're not a contemporary fan, you should read it. I already know one person who was converted with this book, maybe you will be too.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. *5 beautiful stars*
Cassie has had her heart broken not once, but twice. Her second breakup left her in pieces that she feared would never get put back together. Her life consists of college, parties, and her best friends. She has sworn off any relationships due to her past heartaches. So what happens when she starts crushing on her insanely hot professor? (That has an English accent...yum). The fact that her extremely hot neighbor is sexually interested in her doesn't help either. Cassie finds herself torn between what her heart wants and what her mind tells her is right. What will she choose? ;-)
I don't even know where to begin with this book. WOW. I am in love. I'll start off by saying that you know whether or not you're going to like the book within the first few pages. I WAS HOOKED. I normally don't read cliche love stories, and that is exactly what I was expecting. Let me assure you that THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! And it is not the boring love story that some of you may be expecting.
The storyline is extremely well written, and I promise, if you're anything like me you'll fall in love with the characters. I sat around all day until I finished this novel... It is now 2 AM.
Every single person written into this story captured my attention. I loved them and their personalities so much. The amazing imagery is an added bonus. I never once had to make things up in any situation the author threw at me. She explained every character and everything they did very thorough. I LOVED IT. These characters are sexy, dangerous, lovable, and charismatic. There's not enough words to describe them.
I can't think of anything negative about this book other than the fact that I have to wait for the second one to come out. ;-) This is a novel I will definitely purchase, along with the second. Happy reading Cupcakes! ;)
I'm pretty sure author's do not like to hear that readers do not like their covers. Honestly, judging a book by the cover, I wouldn't have picked it up. I don't know why but the cover is not for me. The good news is, I got a copy for an honest review and didn't see the cover. I am THRILLED that I didn't see the cover because this book was amazing.
The characters were very defined with their own personalities and multiple layers. They were not flat and when the book was over, I really felt like Cassie and Tyler had moved away. I loved the way the author made the characters interact and how the story moved at a great pace.
If you enjoy the college, university love setting, then I HIGHLY recommend this book! It is one of my new favorites and I am so thankful that I did not judge a book by it's cover!
Probably one of my favorite reads this year. Thanks for letting me read and review your book. I can't wait to read the second :)
I love Tyler. Who doesn't love a hot bad boy with a heart. By the end of the book my heart was melting for him.
The book had me laughing and melting throughout. I loved all the side characters as well. Liz and Hannah seem like great friends and Freddie what a sweetheart. I'm glad he is figuring everything out.
Now Cassie. I really loved her. I could relate with her heartbreak and not wanting to risk it again. I love how she started to get stronger throughout the story. Though she is definitely oblivious to her effects on the male species.
The first thing that drew me in was the cover ! After reading the blurb I was further intrigued. Who couldn't resist Tyler ?
He is the ultimate bad boy, but appearances can be deceiving.
Is there more depth to Tyler ? Is Tyler doing the same thing as Cassie, protecting his heart?
Overall there were times where I got fed up with Cassie and her attitude.
The story kept me interested from start to finish but now I have to wait for the next book. There is a teaser at the end of this one, but I hope the author doesn't involve Cassie's ex too much in the storyline.
Kudos to Ashley for writing an interesting story with great characters. In future it would be great to read books about the supporting characters.
This was a very good book. It was very detailed and descriptive. Ms. Willis really puts it into perspective the feelings of the charcters. The book shows us that we will all go through heartbreak and when we do we shouldn't take drastic measures like what Cassie does. You can tell that Ms. Willis put a great deal of thought into the book and that she may have been seeley heartbroken at one time or another. If you read this book you will understand what it means to have true friends and you will understand that hearts get broken all the time we just all act different ways to try and mend them. Ms. Willis is a very talented author and I encourage you to read it because you will not be disappointed.
**This ARC was received in exchange for an honest review**
I really liked this book -- I could not put it down!! Loved the characters, especially Tyler and Cassie. I swear, every time I turned a page, I would do a quick scan for Tyler's name. A new book boyfriend to add to the list, even though he is one heck of a man whore!
The chemistry between them was intense! The sex scenes were not written in complete detail, but steamy nonetheless.
I am SO happy they will have another book. However, the sneak peek we get for book 2 has me nervous.
I'm hoping the other characters will get a book. Liz and Hannah are awesome friends!
4.5 stars. Great book - very hard to put down. I'm looking forward to more from this author. Kind of reminded me of Beautiful Disaster, but not in the plot way, more of an angst way in a college setting.
The story started out cute and funny but as I got to know the characters more, it became meh. Can't help but think that Cassie isn't really exceptional enough to have 3 men going gaga over her. Tyler is ok, but a bit unredeemable in my opinion though the author tried. For better fb to lovers story, I recommend Love Show by Audrey Bell and The Deal by Elle Kennedy.
