At what point do you stop wanting someone you know you can never have?
Ava Crawley only had one dream in life; grow up and marry the boy next door, Jeremy Henley. When she was twenty, her dream was crushed by her nasty, vindictive, deceitful sister Kennedy. Unable to handle the hurt, Ava fled.
Jeremy Henley is a Sky Cowboy in Australia’s Northern Territory. Along with his twin brother, Jackson, he is Pine Creek’s finest catch. Jeremy doesn’t give a damn about that, he only cares about the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen; Ava Crawley. After years of waiting for Ava to show an interest in him, an opportunity presents itself and Jeremy takes it. Then, Ava up and leaves for France. No explanation. No goodbye. Nothing. She doesn’t come back for three years, and when she does, Jeremy has a baby son.
Will Ava and Jeremy be able to overcome the pain of the past and give their love a chance? Or, will Ava lose her life just as she’s starting to live her dream?

The same lame excuse to have sex with several women while supposedly has always been in love with the heroine. And the scene where she is Babysitting his son while he goes off to have sex with another woman was horrible. I didn't like him very much.
“Every girl,” he grates out, “Every girl I have ever been with, you are who I see, Ava. You are who I’ve always seen."

I kind of had a love/hate relationship with this story. I loved the beginning. Ava was a total sweetheart and her sister was such a horrible person. She did everything in her power to hurt Ava growing up. Destroying Ava’s self esteem, ruining Ava’s friendships with other people and sleeping with the guys that Ava was interested in. Oh, and trying to drive wedges into Ava’s relationship with their parents. She’s was an evil, vindictive, hateful, slut and I loved her. Kennedy’s evil character added a lot to the story.
Jeremy was a good man, and he and Ava were a great couple once they finally got together, but that took freaking forever because of Kennedy’s lies. Everything could have been resolved quickly if Ava had just TALKED to Jeremy instead of believing her sister and running away from life like she did.
This is my own weird peeve, but all the people dropping F Bombs in this story around little autistic Oscar, I fully expected him to shout “FUCK! F-U-C-K!!! Oscar likes the word FUCK!” like he did with every other word he said in this story. Just seems like they’d have tried harder not to say that around him with is propensity to pick up words, shout them out, then spell them in his loud ass voice.
I’ll probably give the next story a try, but the way this one seemed to go downhill, I don’t really hold up much hope for what’s to come in the next one.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I loved this story from the first page to the last page and every single page in between. This story was a fantastic follow on from Cowboy Town and exceeded any expectations that I had for it.
Kasey's writing style is one that pulls you in, keeps you turning the pages and you have finished the book before you realise it. The characters are real and their experiences are real, allowing the story line to develop and flow effortlessly. As a reader I felt a connection to them and desperately wanted things to work out the way that they should.
Getting the history behind Ava and Jeremy added so much depth and understanding to the events surrounding Ava leaving town and Jeremy's life during the time Ava was away.
Ava has had feelings for Jeremy since she was a young girl but always doubted herself because of her sister and her bullying. Her sister has to be the nastiest piece of work ever and I was dumbfounded by her vindictiveness and evil ways. What she does to keep them apart is just cruel and callous.
Jeremy is a hot as hell cowboy, who has always secretly had a thing for Ava. Things have always worked against them to keep them apart but now that Ava is back after 3 years in Paris, and both their feelings are still alive and kicking, we are taken on a journey that leads them into each others arms.
It was great that we still got to experience Eden and Jackson's lives and the new events that take place with them, as well as having Jules come back into the picture. All the secondary characters are just as loveable and important to the story as the main ones are.
There's drama, sadness, happiness, heart stopping moments and grand gestures through out the story that all roll together to make it a perfect and addictive read that I finished in one sitting.
I will eagerly await the next addition in the Down Under Cowboy Series and congratulate Kasey on making the sequel just as brilliant as the first book.
I highly recommend you take the time to read The Down Under Cowboys series by the amazing Kasey Millstead.
Oh Jeremy it's so easy to love you, "why don't we talk about how that kiss was the best I've ever had and I thought that maybe, finally, you were going to give me a effing chance. Then, the next thing I know, you've flown to bloody Paris without a second effing thought." He really does have a thing for Ava but the girl is really to blind, I blame that on her sister who's a total wench but Jeremy the boy is sending her all these signals, "don't ever apologies for being in my kitchen first thing in the morning, cooking, and wearin' my shirt. I like it." They have the most interesting conversations that are so fascinating and well fascinating: "Well, I do like the dimples about your bum, and I love the way your pubes are always perfectly trimmed," I ponder. "How do you do that, by the way?" I ask as an afterthought. "What shave my di** hair?" "Yeah, it's always the same length - never bald but never long. How do you do it?" "I use and electric trimmer," he laughs his reply. Yep fascinating stuff always know how your man grooms his junk, just in case he may or may not need help.
I love Kasey's writing style and I loved reading Cowboy Town and I love these two brothers.. They are just amazing.. Wish I could find a few cornbread cowboys like them around here :D
But on the real, Sky Cowboy was an amazing look at Ava & Jeremy. Jeremy is just this hottie and Ava is the awkward girl next door... They make an amazing pair.. Love to look into Jackson and Edie :) Glad they are happy!!
After reading cowboy town I was very eager to read sky cowboy. I was totally not disappointed. I literally inhaled this book. I sat & read it in a few hours. What a fantastic book. This author has a knack of writing a story that sounds so normal. Nothing far-fetched about this story. Just wonderful. This author rocks. I hope she is busy reading the third part of this series as it's fantastic.
Drama and unnecessary angst...especially contrived mind games.
Kennedy (Ava’s sister) was convincing as the villain. Ava’s father about Oscar, Jeremy’s son: “Ava, I spent most of my life dreaming that one of my girls would marry one of those boys and give me a grandbaby. I can’t help wishing he was my grandkid. “You’ve spent most of your life dreaming that Kennedy would marry one of the Henley boys”. “Where did you get that idea from”? “Dad, in case you haven’t noticed, I’ve sat at that table and watched you and mum practically force Kennedy down their throats”. Ava’s Mum is oblivious to her manipulative daughter.
Oscar was first diagnosed with Autism at four. It was difficult, but with speech and occupational therapy, life improved.
Jeremy or his mum usually accompanied him to a special Autism and Asperger workshop once a month, which helped.
Kennedy, Ava’s sister is the devil incarnate, ‘unhinged’ comes to mind, unconscionable, malicious. She is impervious, unscrupulous and has no boundaries, friends, family or foe. She lacks a moral compass.
Jeremy, has needs:
His expression mirrors my own, except he looks guilty, I think, and did I mention worse-for-wear?
He stops on the other side of the counter and I take him in. His hair is disheveled. As are his clothes. His wrangler shirt is wrinkled and the buttons are done up haphazardly. I think some of them are actually missing. My brows knit together as my eyes travel up his chest to his neck, where a ginormous, dark, purple hickey sits proudly. Something catches my eye and I move them slightly to the left. To the lipstick stains on his collar.
Does she have any sense of self-preservation? You spend the night babysitting his son for him to get ‘laid’❓
(Ava is guileless, I couldn’t credit her with an ounce of pride. My heroines need to be astute, strong and empowered).
If Jeremy invested more time being a father and less time with mattress acrobatics perhaps HIS son would not be confused. Ava to Jeremy: I actually wanted to talk to you about something. That’s not the first time that Oscar has talked about me being his mum.
Jeremy’s eyes narrow and the entire room is suddenly filled with a furious energy. I mean, he hasn’t said it a lot, just one other time. I say my words quickly in the hope it will calm him down. He’s angry with me for not telling him but I don’t think he should be this angry.
Did you ever think that maybe you should tell me? Did you ever think that I would want to know that my son was asking our f@#king neighbor to be his mother? Now she’s the neighbour not the woman he’s imagined being with when with his other conquests.
Did it ever cross your mind that I would want to know that’s what my son is thinking about? Or, was this all part of your plan? Get into my pants and get yourself a readymade family. He’s shouting at me.
(His words are insensitive and cruel. Don’t forget to forgive him since he believes you orchestrated his son being bewildered since he’s such a catch).
(This ugly outburst appeases his manifesting guilty conscience).
(Ava...was it your responsibility that Oscar got mixed signals because you are a visible presence in his life)?
(Did he notice you never got home, after he threw you out, did he care)❓
I. DID. NOT. LIKE. JEREMY.
(Ava, why do you consider yourself lucky? Please explain. Yes, I am engaging with a fictional character).
Idiot hero - simpering heroine. The End.

I totally enjoyed reading Sky Cowboy. It was just as good as the first book in the series. I was intrigued throughout the story with all of the drama and excitement happening.
Ava Crawley lives in Pine Creek Northern Territory, Australia. She is kind of shy and quiet due to being picked on all of her life by her older sister, Kennedy. It was so hurtful that I wanted to slap the ever living sense into Kennedy. Ava loves riding her horse and dreams of marrying the boy who has lived next door her whole life.
Jeremy Henley, is tall, funny, gorgeous and has always had his eyes on Ava. He runs a cattle & cropping station with his twin brother, Jackson. Jeremy hoped that one day Ava would become a part of his everyday life, but he wasn't sure how she felt. One night, things get a little heated between them and it sends Ava running, thanks to her vindictive sister. She didn't just run home, she ran to Paris, France for 3 years without a word to Jeremy. When she returned, she found out Jeremy had a son. She was heart broken thinking she lost her chance.
Will Jeremy and Ava get their carp together and finally live happily ever after or will the secrets that have kept Ava away continue to stand in the way?
Sky Cowboy was full of angst, hurt, romance & love. It was heart warming, dramatic, intense, heart wrenching and funny at times. A few times I had to back away from the book as my blood pressure was rising due to how intense some of the scenes were.
Kasey, once again you've kept me intrigued and wanting more. I cannot wait to read what you come up with for Jules.
(ARC supplied by author in exchange for an honest review)
Kasey has pulled it out of the bag again with Sky Cowboy.
I loved the history between Jeremy and Ava it made their relationship all the more bittersweet. The comedy factor was their again, I love a book that can make me laugh and cry. This is an emotional roller coaster of fun, happiness and heartbreak.
I am one of these people who loves a good 'baddie' in a book and Kasey hit the nail on the head in this aspect. Oooo you're in for a treat. I sat and read this book in one sitting and for the life of me I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It drags you in and keeps you hostage until the very last word.
Jeremy was an easy character to love but he'll never take Jackson's place in my heart I'm afraid, it's Jackson all the way for me. I love Ava and her strength. She was also weak in places but found her back bone when she needed it.
Oscar, well Oscar I fell in love with. How could you not. Such a sweet little boy. I love the way that Kasey has not shied away from the topic and brought it to the fore front of her readers minds.
There was a particular part in the book that I feel wasn't explored fully and for me it was a big part that needed to be addressed and for this reason I can only give Sky Cowboy 4 out of 5*.
Kasey Millstead Pi**es Excellence...No One can hang with her stuff! The thing I love about my girls books, is that she takes time to develop her characters and back story before they go after one another. Her men are sexy as sin, very sexual, and very much Alpha Male! In this story Ava knew Jeremy was the one since she was old enough to notice boys. She has a sister so evil (&I mean evil in every possible way), vindictive, conniving, & destructive that strips her down and leaves her bleeding everyday. Her sister will enrage you because she is the worst kind of Bully (a wolf in sheeps clothing) who has everyone, including their parents, believing she is so sweet. You want to punch that bitch in the ovaries! Ava feels like she is inferior and that Jeremy could never want her. After a chance encounter Ava flees. Jeremy thinks thank God Ava finally gets him! Only to find that she has left the country. Take the emotional ride with two characters who steal your heart and make you feel like they are living/breathing people.
WELL WRITTEN MY AWESOME AUSSIE MATE!!! LOVE YOUR GUTS!!!
* I received an ARC from the author, in return for an honest review*
I loved the first book int his series Cowboy Town, when I found out we were getting more I was super excited. When I received an ARC or Sky Cowboy I was ecstatic. I enjoyed this book, Ava was a simple girl next door type of girl. Her connection to Jeremy was cute. Jeremy was a hottie and Oscar was just adorable. I love reading books based in Australia. I only had a little problem, I personally would have enjoyed the story more if we got to see the times we skipped over. During the story we jumped a month here and a couple of weeks there, I wanted to see those times. I felt they would help me feel the love between Jeremy and Ava all the more. Even seeing more of the time she spent away from Jeremy would help me understand Ava and her actions more.
This is the second book in Kasey's Cowboy series it's a story that is all too common in real life that makes it very true to life, when you listen to someone else and believe them instead of actually asking the person concerned, however there would not have been a book if Ava had just done that, not that Jeremy is innocent he finally finds his balls in this book (so to speak). Kennedy is the sister from hell any greener and you could mistake her for the Hulk, mean, spiteful and very vindictive. This story is about 2 people who are in love with one another, but are just too scared they have got it wrong so stay back. It’s a case of being so scared that it’s only you that feels that way to take that first step This is also a beautiful story of how you can unconditionally love a child even if you're not their biological parent, and like any good book there is a bit of a spanner in the works. I really enjoyed this book; I'd have love another chapter as I did not want it to end.
This book was okay for a one time read. It have HEA and all, but H&H was most of the time annoying as shit.
They care/love each other, but don't do anything about it for years. Ava believes her sister of a bitch lies, even knowing that she always did and said to hurt her. So, why the f*ck take for granted every word. Ava just should have gone to Jeremy and asked and talked out about it.
And Jeremy...He loves her. Wants her. Then why the f*ck he scr*w around, then feels guilty, but then goes and scr*w some more. Why just don't go after the woman he wants and make her have that 'talk' they need? What he wants some years to go wilde before settle down? Just...Annoying. Both of them.
Not to mention on one moment Jeremy acts as complete asshole. Hurts Ava. A lot. But then hes says 'sorry, babe' and she like an idiot thaws fast. Lady, I needed some groveling here!
Oh, well, like I said it was ok. But I wouldn't go through this read again, because there no man groveling after he f*cks up. Lol.
Sky Cowboy shows us what happened between Ava, and Jeremy before the first book, and after as well. At the beginning we get to see these two sort of circle around each other before finally getting together. It happened really fast when it finally happened but then they had to deal with a whole lot of trouble coming their way...
I have to say this one wasn't as good as the first.. It was really only okay. I hated the fact that it felt like Jeremy and Ava's relationship was rushed in the book. I mean we didn't really get to see any of the getting to know you part at all. So that was kind of a bummer. And I felt like what happened towards the end sort of came out of left field. I really thought the sister was going to be more of a pain in the butt than what she actually was. So I did like this one, but I was slightly disappointed with it. I just wish I had got more feeling from it. Other wise I am still enjoying the series, and do look forward to the next one.
I was given this book by author for honest review. A nice quiet quick read. Book 2 in the Down Under Cowboy series. Sky Cowboy is the story of Ava and Jeremy. Ava and Jeremy have lived next to each other for most of their lives in Pine Creek. Jeremy, Jackson's twin from book1, stays home while Ava travels abroad to Paris. When Ava comes home Jeremy is a father of a newborn baby boy. Kennedy, Ava sister and nemesis, loves causing trouble and does everything she can to break them apart. A dream and a love spanning years in the making is realized.
Ava and Jeremy's story was nothing short of amazing. It's amazing how one person's lies can alter someone else's path. Ava has been in love with Jeremy all of her life. One night, one kiss and her sister's lies change everything. Leaving town for three years and coming home to find Jeremy now has a young son. But Jeremy has loved Ava for just as long and he is ready to get things straight. Twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put this book down!! Five stars!!!
I loved Sky Cowboy, after reading Cowboy Town I was anxiously awaiting its release. I was not disapointed.
I really enjoyed getting to know Ava's backstory, it made me feel closer to her. I felt connected to Jeremy and Ava. I can go on and on, but I dont want to give anything away. I dont think you have to read Cowboy Town first but I definitly reccomend it! Sky Cowboy was a great read and I cannot wait for the third book in the series!
I thought this book was just as good as the first in the series! I loved both of the books and I really felt for the characters. I can’t choose between my favourite couple, they are all amazing. The writing is good and you are hooked from the beginning. I am definitely looking forward to the rest in the series!
This is an excerpt from my post as part of the blog tour for this book at Bec's Book Blog.
Really enjoyed this book. I didn't know this was book two, I didn't read book one and I don't think I missed anything. I liked the characters, well except Kennedy and Oscar's mother. I Loved Oscar the story was so touching and the relationship between Oscar and Ava was heart warming. Jeremy was a great book boyfriend. Loved the ending.
I was super lucky to receive an ARC for this book:)) Oh my god! Thank you Kasey! What a wonderful journey 'Sky Cowboy' took me on! I loved every bit of Ava & Jeremy:) What a Rollercoaster of emotions I laughed, cried, gripped my seat and yearned for more:) 'At what point do you stop wanting someone you know you can never have?' Can't wait for the next book!!
I won Kasey's first book to this series and I've been hooked ever since. She is am amazing writer! This book had me from the beginning to the end! I couldn't put it down! Ava and Jeremy have had an amazing relationship since the beginning but throw Oscar in the mix and bam it's an amazing and supportive family that loves unconditionally. Amazing can't wait for the next book!!
After reading Edie and Jackson's story, I was amazed to read a part of the next part. I was thrilled about it. After reading this book, I must say that I loved it! I wanted to smack Kennedy more than once. I love that Oscar was so taken with ava and vice versa. I really enjoyed this book! Cannot wait to read the next one!! Amazing job!
Enjoyed the story, but as I was reading it in the bundle pack I brought there are a lot of small typos and spelling mistakes:( Other then that the story was great !!
This is suppose to be the 2nd book in the Down Under Cowboy series. I was more than kind of upset to discover that I read these books out of order. So the real book number 2 is actually Cowboy Dreams!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I hate when I read books out of order.
I did however enjoy this book. I am skipping the review because I am super ticked off at the moment. Happy reading :/ in order hopefully.
This book reminded me of some situations between my brother & myself. My father nicknamed us some unique nicknames lovingly but as a girl & being on the heavy side the nickname he gave me was horrible. So my brother not only was he horrible on a good day but shared that said nickname with my bully & it just went downhill from there. I loved Oscar the most!!!!!!!!! Especially since he adopted Ava first!! Jeremy you’re still kinda cool too.
Ava Crawley and Jeremy Henley have known each other for most of their lives. Both of their parents’ stations are right next to each other with a fence dividing the properties. Ava has always had a huge crush on Jeremy and has wanted nothing more than to grow up & marry him. She doesn’t know why Jeremy & not Jackson, since they are identical twins, but she has just always felt drawn to Jeremy, he’s always been the one.
But Ava has also had to contend with her lying, conniving, hateful, horrible person of a sister, Kennedy. Ava has been verbally and mentally abused by Kennedy and Kennedy’s friends all of her life. Kennedy let Ava know, that any man she got from Pine Creek would sloppy seconds and the only reason they would be with her is because they couldn’t keep Kennedy forever and she would only ever be second best.
One night Jeremy & Ava have a moment, which Kennedy does her damndest to ruin. Ava hops a plane to France & becomes a nanny, meeting a nice Frenchman, Gaston. But later, returns back to her beloved Australia. Where she learns of Jeremy’s son Oscar, and offers her help, but not her heart or any other closeness.
Several years pass, we get to meet Eden (from the first book, Cowboy Town) from Ava’s point of view. We also see some other attempts from Jeremy’s side of things before someone finally let’s Ava in on the truth. Finally Jeremy & Ava get together, and both sets of parents are excited, Jackson & Edie are excited and Edie’s friend Jules is too.
But sisters and exes have a way of finding themselves wanting into the middle of things and that has a way of causing problems, not because Jeremy & Ava want anything from their exes, but it’s just how the dice roll.
Oscar, Jeremy’s son is still just as cute and as adorable as ever and brings a lot to this book. He’s a little kid that you just want to hug and hold and laugh and play with.
Excited for more from this series, the Christmas novel and then Jules & Clay’s story.
