Ariel’s

Living on the frontiers of Salinor, an aging guard captain named Reheuel finds himself torn between protecting his family and protecting a city of innocent fairies. Lifting his sword in violence for the first time in decades, he sets off on a quest to retrieve a magical gem stolen from the fairies by marauding goblins. Meanwhile, his wife Tressa struggles to hold their family intact as they journey across the now-dangerous frontier and his sons Geuel and Hefthon learn the costs of manhood.

Part 1

Decades and leagues removed from his origins on the frontier, Geuel serves as an officer in the roving military order known as the Guards. Accompanied by his constant fallen fairy companion Randiriel, he heads into the backwaters of Serendin hunting a dangerous sand dragon. There, he meets and befriends a strange demigod named Belisari. Together with a band of fellow immortals and Guards, they set off on a journey intended to spit in the eyes of gods.

Part 2

Well past the turn of his first century, Hefthon rules his city of Gath Moran in dull and weary peace, yearning for risk or adventure. When an uprising boils up in Elisidor, Hefthon rides forth to the fray, joined by the once-familiar Belisari. But times change, and men change with them. How much can Hefthon trust his brother’s former friend?

In this exciting conclusion to the First Immortals trilogy, familiar characters are reunited and threads of story meet again as Veil, Aeschulin, Randiriel, Hefthon, and Belisari all come together to close out their varied stories.

First Immortals: The Omnibus is a sweeping, richly imagined fantasy saga that blends epic adventure with deeply human questions about power, legacy, and responsibility. Justin Rose crafts an ambitious generational tale where immortality is less a gift than a burden, and every era challenges the House of Euel in new, compelling ways. From frontier struggles and fairy realms to gods, dragons, and civil wars, the world-building is immersive and expansive without losing its emotional core. The characters grow, change, and fracture under the weight of centuries, making their triumphs and failures feel earned and resonant. Thoughtful, action-packed, and emotionally grounded, this omnibus is a rewarding read for fans of epic fantasy who love family sagas as much as world-shaking stakes.

This Omnibus features stories mostly centered around a family that is granted immortality. As such, it runs past centuries of experiences, challenges, and tragedies. One of the lead characters is also in a position of, not-quite-human, but also not-quite-a-god.

And the gods do make appearances, in which they might challenge, barter, punish, or tempt. A lot of fate rides on the immortals, but they can be killed in battle, or poisoned by ambitions rivals. The hubris of one might even tempt him to challenge a god directly.

One of the greatest assets I must give to the author is the poetry of his prose. I love the descriptions and how they are gifted in drawing emotions from the reader. Even the sorrow of a fairy can carry weight. I look forward to more of his writing.
