At eighteen, Hunter’s life shattered. His father killed his mother and was arrested, leaving him as the sole caretaker of his younger brother. The tragedy was the talk of the town, but Hunter did what he always does—he survived. He found his footing, met a good girl, and was ready to build a future… until she cheated on him with his best friend. The two disappeared, leaving Hunter to pick up the pieces again.
Now, two years later, she’s back. Broken, running from an abusive relationship, and carrying a she’s pregnant with his ex-best friend’s baby. When her parents turn her away, Hunter does the only thing his heart will let him—he takes her in.
She’s terrified to let herself fall for him again, convinced her past has ruined any chance at happiness. But Hunter? He’s already falling, harder and faster than he ever expected.
When her secret comes to light, will it destroy the fragile trust they’ve rebuilt? Or will Hunter prove that love, no matter how messy or complicated, is worth fighting for?
This had such good potential and I really enjoyed the scenes set in the present. There were a lot of flashbacks and they did help explain the relationship a bit more but I think that could've all been done more smoothly in the present or in a longer book. Still, Austen and Hunter's relationship was so beautiful and I'm so glad they got their second chance 🤍
I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
tread lightly if ⚠️domestic violence and assault⚠️ are sensitive topics.
okay, i really liked this book—borderline loved it! HOWEVER, i feel that it had even more potential to be better.
this is the third book in the wolf valley series, and while i read it as a standalone, i plan to read the first two books.
austen and hunter are college sweethearts until one day, their love story takes a shocking turn and she leaves town to start a new life… with his BEST FRIEND, wallace!!! reading that, i wanted to despise austen—i mean who wouldn’t??? but as the story unfolds, you understand and become sympathetic towards austen.
austen was manipulated by hunter’s so-called best friend by believing they were true loves, yet austen discovered how wrong she was. she returned back to wolf valley, shattered, pregnant, and bruised. hunter finds her sleeping in her car, and despite the heartbreak she caused him, he steps up to the plate to take care of her. hunter’s forgiveness, resilience, and protective nature shine through as he supports her and refuses to fail her—partly because he sees his mom in her. will they rekindle their love? is the second chance worth the risk? will he still accept her despite the secret she’s hiding?🤍
this book is a quick, short, and engaging read. you will absolutely, positively fall head over heels in love with hunter🥰his protective personality is EVERYTHING!! and don’t get me started on his accent 😝
that’s said, i have a few critiques. the book could have benefitted if there were scenes with wallace and hunter (i mean they were best friends, so this would have contributed significantly to the plot). their friendship was a central part of the backstory, so seeing their dynamic before and after wallace’s betrayal would have made the plot more engaging and impactful. i also wanted more development on austen and wallace’s relationship, and understand how they came to be. my curiosity was piqued by what wallace said to convince austen to leave hunter and start a new life with him, but unfortunately, it was never revealed. i was sooooo intrigued, and that feeling is still lingering!!
overall, i truly enjoyed this book, and finished it in 3 hours!
Thank you, Love Notes PR and Taylor Jade for an advanced copy and the opportunity to read 🩷

Before reading this book, definitely check the TW. A lot of DV & assault mentioned throughout the book. Overall I liked this book. I feel like it needed to be longer and was really rushed. Thank you LoveNotes PR for the ARC!
I would like people to first read the trigger warnings before trying to read the book.
The book is quite short , at least for me. Easy to finish within 2 to 3 hours if you are not busy. It is also quite fast-paced. The book has second chance and pregnancy tropes.
It is a nice book, but I felt it was too rushed. The author talked a lot about the past. So I would say 60% of the book was about the past and the other 40% was about the present. The one thing I didn't like was the author kept on switching between the past and the present, but overall, it was okay.
For me, I have seen very little character development. The characters were okay, I guess. I had expected better. I wanted to see a little bonding shown between the characters, but it is described for like half a page or 1 page maybe, and that's it.
Tropes: ▪︎ Dual POV ▪︎ Second-Chance Romance ▪︎ Lack of Communication ▪︎ Secret Baby (Another Man's Baby) ▪︎ First Love ▪︎ Small Town Romance
Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶/5
The book was okay. A classic second-chance romance with a Happily Ever After.
I would have enjoyed the book more if I actually read about Austen and Hunter reconnecting. There were a lot of time skips that glossed over the new relationship Austen and Hunter were developing. Hunter still had feelings for Austen, despite the fact that she left him for his best friend, so although I felt he was moving too fast and not thinking clearly about wanting to get back together with Austen, I understood it. Austen, however, did not appear genuine in her feelings for Hunter. To me, it felt like she needed someone on her side and because Hunter was her first love and there were good memories between them, she got back together with him.
I tried, I REALLY tried, but I DID NOT like Austen. I've read a lot of similar second-chance romance books, however, I found Austen annoying. She gave off major woe-is-me vibes. Yes, she put in the effort to “fix” herself by getting a job and helping out around the house to not be indebted to Hunter, BUT there were multiple times throughout the story where she felt she deserved certain things without putting in the effort to actually have them. For example, when she leaves Wallace all bruised and pregnant and arrives at her parent’s house seeking help and her mother turns her away, she yells at them that she thought they were a safe space, essentially stating she knows she fucked up but as their daughter, she deserves to be helped. She didn't. I, personally, if I was in her parents' situation would have asked my daughter if she was done with Wallace for good and if the answer was yes, then I would have helped her get back on her feet. However, I understand why her parents turned her away. Being a parent doesn't mean you aren't an individual. Parents have feelings and Austen's parents felt that she only came back to them after cutting them out of her life because there was no way they would turn her away, which is exactly what she did. Another example was when she got back into a routine of living with Hunter, she kept wondering what her life would have been like if she was still with Hunter and the child she was having was his—which I know a lot of people think of what-ifs, it's only natural—but Austen left Hunter instead of communicating and trying to fix their strained relationship. When Hunter would try and ask what was wrong, she would push him away and then think to herself how he could ever be with her after what she did to him. She was a character I couldn't like because she avoided her problems by not taking accountability and not communicating with those involved. Honestly, I was rolling my eyes whenever I read her chapters because GURL how are you pushing away the only person willing to get to know the “new” you and help you, while simultaneously crying over how alone you are? Make it make sense! Aajjaja
Hunter, man this male lead was too good for Austen, no scratch that, Austen wasn’t good enough for him. He became a protector from a young age, and so when Austen came back to town, aside from his prevailing feelings for her, he was never gonna turn his back on someone who needed help. He was planning on asking her to marry him before she left him for his best friend—all because she didn’t sit down and talk to him about how she wished they spent more time together and find out if there was a way they could set aside time to do so. He loved deeply and honestly carried this whole story.
I really like the references to the title. I liked Hunter’s brother, Foster, he was funny. I also liked that Austen and her parents mended their relationship. This story had a lot of potential. I read it as a standalone, but I plan on reading the other two books in the series because although their part in this story was small, I liked Chase and Max from Fight for Me and Stay for Me.
If you're in the mood for a quick second-chance romance with mild drama, give this story a read.
Thank you Taylor Jade and Love Notes PR for the eARC. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
“I didn’t care what mistakes they made; my home would always be a safe place for them. Because that’s what mothers were for.” You know you enjoyed a book when your only complaint is the fact it was too short! I wanted more of Hunter and Austen! Right from the dedication of this book Taylor Jade had me sucked in. Never in my life have I highlighted a book dedication, but Taylor Jade spoke to us hopeless romantic girls with this one. A book for lovers and dreamers.
‘Breathe for Me’ is a second chance, forced proximity love story between Hunter, our MMC, and Austen, our FMC. If I have come to expect anything from a book by Taylor Jade, its that the story is never going to be just sweetness and light, always anticipate sunshine and showers. “Breathe for Me” was absolutely no different.
Hunter comes from a turbulent background. A victim of parental abuse, he has had to fight to survive, for not only himself but for his younger brother. From the outset we learn he had his heart broken by his ex-girlfriend, Austen, when she left him for his best friend. Two years later, Austen reappears very suddenly and unexpectedly into Hunters life, but like I said, nothing is straightforward in a Taylor Jade romance.
I will be honest, I wanted to hate Austen, she broke Hunters heart, why should she get a second chance? But I simply could not. When I read the synopsis of the book, I thought ‘who does she think she is?’ but the answer is quite simple, she’s his, she’s Hunters. Truth be told, Austen is a badass! A trait I have come to expect in FMC’s written by Taylor Jade. She has this fierce maternal instinct that is not to be challenged. Something that is an echo from the insights we get into Hunters mother. The parallels between the two characters are so clever and add a certain depth to the story that draws the reader in even more.
Hunter, Hunter, Hunter, where do I begin? A man with a heart of gold. The lengths Hunter will go to, to protect the ones he loves are unmatched. Protective is an understatement! In life, Hunter was dealt a tough hand, but he has never let that define him or hold him back from achieving the life he knows that he deserves. For those around him, Hunter is safe, he is home. When he loves, he loves hard and without question.
As previously mentioned, by only complaint about this book is the fact I wanted more! However, the plot was so even paced the book felt complete. It was a bit of a slow burn, but not too slow. A very easy to follow story, even though there were many serious topics throughout. I adored both the dual timeline and the dual POV. There is nothing better in a romance novel than being a part of both sides of the relationship. I thoroughly loved “Breathe for Me”, and I can’t wait for Taylor Jades next masterpiece.
Breathe For Me is the third installment in the Wolf Valley series by Taylor Jade, is a heartwrenching and redemptive story that explores love, forgiveness, and healing after betrayal. While part of a series, this novel can be enjoyed as a standalone, offering a deep emotional journey that will captivate fans of second-chance romance. Taylor Jade excels at creating well-developed characters, and the emotional weight of this story is palpable. The love between Hunter and Austen is incredibly touching, especially as Hunter steps up not only to protect her but to embrace the child she’s carrying as his own. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their struggles to rebuild trust and understand each other make for a compelling narrative. The book’s pacing is fast, which keeps the story engaging, but at times it feels rushed, leaving some readers wishing for more in-depth character development. The switch between past and present perspectives can also be a bit jarring, though it does add layers to the story as it unravels. The inclusion of difficult topics like abuse adds depth to the narrative, but be sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the book is a standout in the series, and perhaps the most emotional of the lot. The connection between Hunter and Austen is heartwarming, and the way they navigate their past mistakes, along with the looming threat of Austen's dangerous ex, Wallace, adds suspense and tension. The themes of second chances, redemption, and unconditional love make this a satisfying and rewarding read.
Overall, it’s an unforgettable, emotional rollercoaster with a satisfying conclusion. If you enjoy small-town romances with emotional depth, healing from past trauma, and a couple that fights to be together, this is a book you won’t want to miss.
Rating: 4.5/5 Recommended for fans of second-chance romance, emotional depth, and small-town settings.
This was a really poorly written book. So many errors. It really needed an editor. It's a shame because there was a foundation for a good book here but it was just a mess. Flashbacks at odd times and that really didn't add to the story. It you're gonna jump around in the timeline guve us something that is gonna serve the story. Wallace and Hunter ate best friends but they don't have any scenes together in the book. How about showing us how Wallace stole Austen away from Hunter. So many juicy plot points are just left out of the story. As a guy, I just couldn't respect Hunter. The way he let Austen walk all over him without ever holding her accountable for cheating on him was brutal to read. I kept wanting him to have even an ounce of self respect but it never happened. He just let her waltz right back into his life without so much as an apology. He's got to live the rest of his life knowing he was the back up. Austen settled for him. She was in love with Wallace before she met Hunter, while she was with Hunter and eventually left Hunter for Wallace without a second thought. Even when Hunter tried to get her back she broke it down exactly how much she didn't care about him anymore. Even after the abuse started she tells us bow she falls more in love with Wallace. Wallace is probably where the author fails the most. His character makes no sense. His family supposedly makes good money and his promises of a better life ate what leads Austen to him but he's just a car salesman. Somehow he can't even afford bail. That makes no sense. Oh yeah, that's probably the worst part. When he comes back for Austen it's not even Hunter who saves her. It's some other guy. The author doesn't even show us the altercation we just get the aftermath. That was the whole culmination of the book and we read about it from Hunter's perspective. Why would the author not let us live that showdown from Austen's pov? Just a terrible choice in a terribly written book.
When Hunter finds Austen battered, bruised and sleeping in her car he knows he needs to offer her a helping hand, even if it pains him to let her back into his life after what she did. She's pregnant, alone, and needs support and a safe place to lay her head, which he can provide her, but he also knows he needs to tread lightly with her, as they have a past filled with hurt and unresolved feelings. It's a second chance that has the power to save them or break them all over again...
Breathe For Me is a story of forgiveness, love, second chances, healing, and happiness. Hunter and Austen have a past that carries a lot of hurt and their both uncertain if their reunion is a good thing or bad thing. There are a lot of unresolved feelings hanging between them and being in close quarters with one another is destined to bring it all out, question is are they ready to face it?
I really enjoyed this one, it was a first time venture for me, and it turned out to be quite a memorable one for me. It's words were captivating, characters perfectly crafted, and I felt all the feels! My only complaint was that I wasn't ready for it to end when the last page found me, I just wanted to stay with them a little longer. Highly recommend this one, it's destined to leave your heart all kinds of happy.
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Disliked CAustin, it loved everyone else and story.
I’m not gonna lie. This book was amazing. It was great. You felt the emotions you fell in love with them or I guess stayed in love however, I did not like Austin her reasoning for cheating on Hunter made absolutely no sense to me and I kept hoping for more of an explanation, or a flashback to kind of give me a state of mind or a state of relationship to where she felt like she was gonna leave, but just because somebody came up to her and promised her that things would get better she left a man that was given her everything and she was playing house with. I don’t know. I really did not like that if if maybe you know she was bamboozled or you know Hunter was doing wrong. I could somewhat understand it, but I did not like her because of it. I loved Hunter & Foster as well. The flashbacks to their history was great and gave you a little snippet of the life and understanding into the man that they became. I do wish that we would’ve gotten a little bit more of an explosive scene with Wallace maybe even a follow up on what happened because those types of DV situations don’t get a lot of time nor do they go to trial perfectly. Just that he didn’t make fail didn’t feel enough for me (again because DV cases are so hard to try). Makes me think if Wallace family tried to help him? Come for the child. Ask to be in her life. Etc..
Tropes: Second Chance, Secret Baby, First Love, Small Town.
This is the third book in the Wolf Valley Series but can be read as a standalone.
Hunter, our resilient MMC, has endured a difficult and tragic past. He once found the love of his life, only to have his world come crashing down when she suddenly ran away with his best friend. For the past two years, Hunter and his brother, Foster, have been trying to mend the pieces of the hole she left in their lives.
Austen thought she had found true love with Wallace—Hunter’s best friend—only to realize how terribly wrong she was. Now, abused, pregnant, and alone, she has nowhere to turn but home. However, she quickly learns that was a mistake, leaving her to fend for herself.
When Hunter discovers Austen living out of her car, covered in bruises, he knows he can’t just walk away. As they face heartbreak, pain, and the struggles of forgiveness together, they begin to realize this may be the second chance they both desperately need—the love that was always meant to be.
Once again, Taylor Jade delivers an incredible story. It’s a fast-paced, engaging read that took unexpected turns. This book carries more emotional weight than the others in the series, touching on heavy topics, so be sure to check the trigger warnings. It takes you on an emotional journey, and my heart ached for these two tortured souls. The love Hunter has for Austen is the sweetest thing you could want in a romance. The spice also picked up a bit more than in previous books, though it didn’t kick in until later in the story.
Overall, this story exceeded my expectations and is probably my favorite in the Wolf Valley series. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a heartfelt, small town, second-chance romance.
Thank you to Love Notes PR and Taylor Jade for this ARC.

I am going to start off the review by saying a TW for domestic violence and assault because there was quite a bit of it in this story.
I feel like Breathe for Me has so much potential, but it felt so rushed and for only being 180ish pages, it was really rushed. I felt like I couldn't really connect to the MC's as much as I would have liked to. I found Austen really hard to like, I don't really understand why she left Hunter all those years ago to be with Wallace. I would have loved a confrontation moment between Hunter and Wallace to be honest. Also, I find it very interesting that MMC and his brother frequent the bar, and get drunk, given their history of their Dad being an alcoholic and killed their mother but this is probably something that could have been explored a bit more if the story was longer. Hunter was a nice man, if I saw Austen there after she left me for my best friend with a letter - I would have left her to sleep in her car.
Overall, I think it definitely needed to be longer so the author had more room to delve deeper into the more important scenes.
Thank you to Taylor Jade and LoveNotes PR for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it.

Wow this book was perfect and sweet. Austen and Huston were in love a few years ago, until Austen took off and left Hunter for his best friend Wallace. Years later Austen is back and on the run after enduring years of abuse from Wallace. She turns to her parents to help her and instead, they turn her away. Hunter finds her sleeping in her car and covered in bruises. He decides to take her in and help her. I do not expect this story to go the way it went, but it didn’t disappoint me. It was so sweet seeing Hunter forgive Austen and take her in even though she left him and hurt him. I enjoyed being able to see how these two grew together and healed the wounds of one another. It was so heartwarming to see Hunter take care of Austen. I also loved seeing them fall back in love with each other. Last few chapter were a perfect conclusion to the story. It shows that everyone deserves a second chance after making mistakes.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
You ever made a huge mistake and wished you could take it back? That you could go back to before you made it and never do it. Austen does. Hunter was her first love and she left him chasing greener pastures.
Turns out those greener pastures weren’t the things of sunshine and rainbows. Not for Austen as she is dragged into a life Hunter is all too familiar with. So she runs back to Wolf Valley hoping to start over, for herself and her baby.
Hunter thought Austen was gone forever and had given up hope he would ever get his girl back until he finds her sleeping in her car. Even worse though is he can see the bruises darkening her skin.
This does have some dark elements with the FMC and MMC having trauma from DA. If that doesn’t bother you though I urge you to read this! If only to get that warm fuzzy feeling from a MMC that will protect his girl the way we all want to be. A MMC that will make you swoon from how incredibly sweet, kind and caring he is. I loved this and read it in about 3-4 hours, so it’s a nice quick read.
Ohh sweet Hunter... so much kept happening to you and you didn't deserve an ounce of it.
I loved Hunter. His fierce protective nature. His resilience. His love. He was such a beautifully written male character. I loved how he could love Austen after all she put him through.
I have to admit, Austen was a hard character to like. I struggled with who she was in the beginning. She was very unlikeable and quite shallow to "love" one man and then quickly move on to another. Her story was very hard to get behind since there really wasn't a good reason to leave Hunter in the first place. She grew on me toward the end, but ot took a lot to like her.
I really liked the story. I wish it was longer so Hunter and Austen would have the proper time to heal from what they went through and to fall in love again. I do hope that Foster gets his own story and is able to overcome his own trauma and find real love for himself.
This is one of those books you can read in one sitting! It's a second chance romance with a heavy dose of trauma for both of these characters. This is a rather heavy story with both of our main characters going through a lot of trauma (part of it does happen on page but not between main characters) & it did feel like there were a lot of flashbacks where we witnessed it happening. I wish we could've seen more growth in both of the main characters & explored a bit more of their stories but with the book being only about 180 pages there wasn't a ton of space for that!
I do like a second chance romance & I thought the main characters had a sweet relationship & connection!
Hunter is an amazing man. Not only did he stand up to protect his brother from their abusive father growing up but he let Austen back Into his life.
When Austen’s biggest mistake of running off with her boyfriend’s best friend takes a turn for the worst. Pregnant and scared for both of their lives she runs back home not to be met with judgement from her family. Enter her ex Hunter who is too good to be true.
Hunter never stopped loving Austen, he never moved on. So when she came back into his life he knew he had to let her back in.
When Hunter learns of her pregnancy he’s not mad but ready to be a father to the baby, to protect both of them.
This story has its twist and turns and the love story between Austen and Hunter is so worth it.
I need Foster’s story next!
🌸 Small town ♥️ Second Chance 🌸 cute nicknames ♥️ Secret Baby 🌸 First love ♥️ Protective MMC
This is the third book in the Wolf Valley series which can also be read as a standalone, but I can't help myself, I read all of them and of course, I have to compare them. This one was definitely the best of those three.
I didn't have a problem to like the characters this time. They have their own traumas but eventually, they manage to get their life into order, fall in love and find their happily ever after.
I am starting to like this small town more somehow and I think that if there is another book with Foster (that's only what I think) I will read it, just to know what else happened to those poor people and how the life of the people from the previous book is going.
If you need something quick to read with a little bit of romantic, found family, sweet moments and characters with traumatic backgrounds you should try this one.
There is a lot of emotion & tragedy in this book. But in the end, it's a HEA that's wrapped up nicely.
Hunter is one tough cookie. A super hard childhood ends with him witnessing a horrible tragedy and forced to become an adult very quickly. But the way he steps up for his brother, through his whole life really, is very commendable. I was not fond of how quickly he takes Austen back. I guess in the end, you can't control who you love but I felt so bad for him and wished he made her work for it a little more.
Austen definitely made a mistake but the author does a good job of still creating sympathy for her. Her mother is sure a piece of work and obviously that shaped who Austen is.
Overall, the storyline is good but it felt a bit rushed in getting to the HEA. I just didn't feel the depth of their love as I'd hoped.
This was my first official novel by this author. and I thought it was enjoyable.
Breathe for Me is the 3rd novel in the Wolf Valley series. I originally gravitated towards this one because it has one of my current favorite tropes, Second Chance.
I have so many thoughts on how I feel about Hunter, and while reading I jumped from emotion to emotion. I like when authors are able to keep me engaged that way and make the character more dynamic.
Austen, I had a hard time connecting with her. Some of her choices were hard for me to move past, but I also felt for her and her past and her move to make a better life.
Overall, I thought that this could have been longer and provided more depth of character.
Thank You LoveNotes PR and Taylor Jade, for the ARC in return for an honest review.
Hunter and Austen first loves who split up when Austen left him for his best friend. But when she returns a few years later after leaving her abusive relationship. Hunter finds her sleeping in her car and gets protective of Austen when he sees the bruises and helps her through her panic attack. Offering to rent her his spare bedroom and ther begins the second chance for them.
Overall this is one of my favorite second chance romance I've read so far, the way they rekindle the relationship and get through the hardships of the past and now Austens ex Wallace who's coming for her and the baby. Hunter was there to protect her and took on her baby as his own.

If you’re looking for a romance filled with second chances, emotional twists, and deep character growth, Breathe For Me will pull you in. This third installment in Taylor Jade’s Wolf Valley series dives into the life of Hunter, a man scarred by tragedy, who faces a complicated reunion with his ex-girlfriend as she escapes an abusive relationship.
🌾 What I Loved: • The vivid ranch setting that feels like another character in the story. • Emotional depth that brings out the struggles of healing, forgiveness, and finding love again. • Supporting characters that add richness to the world of Wolf Valley. If you love stories about love overcoming all odds, give it a try!
This book wasn’t it for me. I thought it had the potential to be a great story but just wasn’t. The writing seemed rushed and lacked depth in the story. It seemed like there was a lot that could have been written more in depth to develop a better story overall. Hunter and Austen’s situation was too serious for them to just mosey back into routine and everything be ok. There wasn’t any real character or relationship redemption for what happened and what they went through. Also, I needed more on what happened to his dad after release, what happened in the long run with Wallace, what about the legal rights with Cassie and what that could mean. There were too many open ended parts that left it feeling very unfinished.
This was a super quick read filled with heartbreak and trauma. Austen and Hayden were young and in love. Hayden thought they’d be together forever until Austen ran off with Hayden’s best friend. Two years later and Austen returns with lots of guilt and secrets.
I really enjoyed the storyline, but wished we would have gotten more. There was so much focus on the build up to Wallace returning, but we didn’t get any of it actually happening. I enjoyed having a lot of the past to set the foundation of Hayden and Austin’s relationship, but would have loved to have more of the present.
Overall, I really enjoyed the characters and the way they healed together over their past!
I read this book as a stand alone. I plan on reading the other two in the near future. As a stand alone book 9/10! This book gets you hooked right out of the gate. Hunter is the small town boy with a troubled/traumatic childhood and a heart of gold. Austen has just enough rebellion in her to keep me guessing on her next move. Their love story is such a bittersweet throughout the book but the ending had my heart melting. I loved the story as a whole. I wish the last 1/3 of it had as much depth at the first 2/3 of the book. Overall I highly recommend it if you're looking for an easy read with some spice.
Breathe for me is book 3 in the Wolf Valley series by Taylor Jade, whilst part of a series it can be read as a standalone. We briefly meet our mmc Hunter in the previous book as the foreman of Max. Please note there is triggers including DV. A quick and easy read, I found it a little bit to rushed, but i thoroughly enjoyed reading about hunter and Austen. If you like small town romance, second chance then this quick read is for you. I was fortunate enough to recieve complimentary copies of fight for me and stay for me prior to receiving this ARC and I had a great time reading them!!
This book needed to be longer. It had so much potential and just lacked in execution. Why did we get no scenes with Hunter and Wallace? Why did we never even find out how Wallace manipulated Austen? I felt for her because of what she went through but I still never liked her because I wasn’t able to get the full understanding of why she did what she did. Her acting shocked when Wallace accused her of cheating was annoying considering she literally was dating his best friend when she ran away with him.
Hunter was amazing and an absolute gem, but this book needed more.
Thank you to Love Notes PR & Taylor Jade for the ARC.
Despite a few minor drawbacks, this book stands out in the series and is arguably the most emotional of them all. Hunter and Austen’s connection is deeply moving, and their journey of confronting past mistakes while dealing with the looming threat of Austen’s dangerous ex, Wallace, keeps the tension high. The themes of second chances, redemption, and unconditional love make for a compelling and rewarding read.
Overall, it’s an emotional rollercoaster with a fulfilling conclusion. If you love small-town romances with depth, healing from past wounds, and a couple that fights for their love, this is one you won’t want to miss.
I wanted to love this book, and I did like it. This reader feels with a little polish and added details it can get there. The story is good, has second chances, has plenty of emotion, and is a wonderful small town.
Hunter and Austen have a definite connection, and when he finds her sleeping in her car, he needs to help her. Is the pain of the past too strong, though? Together, they need to find forgiveness, face the danger of her past, and heal.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
So when I read the tropes this was right up my alley, however it’s only 180 pages. Half the book is flashbacks from years ago, this had so much potential to be bigger and better.
She returns to town pregnant with his ex-friends baby but doesn’t tell the mmc for like 80% of the book.
I get it was a short but the actual love story / pregnancy felt very rushed for me. I did enjoy the book though.
Also the mmc’s brothet calling our fmc baby Icked me right out
