This story has blown me away. It had a number of things I love in a good erotic story. Fabulous plot and character development, hot military men, post apocalyptic setting. Sexy menage scenes. Romantic suspense. Captivating story.

Doc and Tango were great, Celia was one lucky lady getting to be the filling in that sexy alpha sandwich. I would happily monkey around with these guys.

Jokes aside, lives are at risk, corruption is a foot, and these guys are putting their necks on the line every day. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

I have to add that this book is exceptionally well edited. I am a reader who seems to notice every typo and this is the first book I have read in many months, that I have not noticed a single error!!

I put my shameless hussy 'book whore' hat on and asked the author for a copy of this story, in exchange for an honest review.

I am a brutally honest reviewer and this review has not been rated highly simply because I received a free copy. I genuinely LOVED it and can't wait to continue with the series.

According to a number of surveys, possible “global catastrophic risks” include
-reasons that are based on human factors like climate change, global wars (either nuclear or just total wars), human created pandemics or
- reasons that are not based on human factors like hostile extraterrestrials, extraterrestrials objects that could hit Earth, even Biblical Apocalypse if you are a religious person.

In 2142, Kite virus is created by North Korean scientists causing a pandemic. The infections start spreading in the region and North Korea and China go into war as a result – even before the other countries realize the existence of this virus and how lethal it is. It has been a well hidden secret for some time between China and North Korea. Kite is lethal since it has a 99.9% fatality rate. It causes symptoms similar to influenza, mad cow and rabies.

Boarders have been closed, quarantine is all the countries, stick tests are the norm for Kite antibodies especially for airplanes’ passengers and everybody needs to wear surgical masks when they go out.

In order to discover the vaccine to this deadly virus the scientists, who created it and are now hiding scattered all over the world, need to be found and to be protected. Because whoever controls the vaccine, controls also the fate of Earth.

This is a job for a special military unit called “Drunk monkeys”. 20 highly qualified men are struggling to find the lost scientists and protect them.

There is also a mad, ruthless religious leader (Reverent Hannibal Silo) who is trying as well to find the scientists and control the vaccine and to be the leader of USA initially and the whole world afterwards. And he is a true sonofabitch. I cannot even repeat the things he has done and he keeps doing to his wife.

Yes this is also a romance series! LOL.

Celia who is a reporter from Chicago is trying to find and interview one of the scientists. “Drunk monkeys” discover her and convince her to be part of their team. Eventually, she will fall in love with Doc (team’s doctor) and Tango (team’s paramedic).

This is the first book in “Drunk Monkeys” series. The series is not Paranormal Romance and it is not Sci-Fi romance. It states simply one of the possibilities of our civilization’s grim future.

The only thing that made me a bit confused were the acronyms which are used. They are so many to remember: TMFU, SOTIF1, OTG, ASFOC, MARSOC, ETA, CDC etc.
And also there are 20 men name’s at least to remember.

Finally, I just need to add that my inner nerd did a happy dance, when I discovered this series…

This was just a so-so 2.5 stars

I liked the whole virus/pandemic concept and the mission to find the scientists that can possibly design a vaccine. The military group of 20 men was a little hard to keep straight though.

What I didn't like was the relationship between Celia, Doc and Tango. It felt so fake to me. I mean right from the beginning, there was no chemistry whatsoever then all of sudden Doc suggest that they get down and dirty. There was no build-up, no furtive looks...and the dirty talk was quite cheesy.

Then before you know, they all love each other and Celia has no qualms about being with 2 guys.
Didn't really work for me

The Romance Review
Biological warfare is never so scary as when it's combined with drugs to hook people on a fatal addiction. If you enjoyed War World Z, this book will be up your alley. This is the first of a promising ten book series. After reading this first one, I want to read them all. Tango and Doc are part of a twenty-man team. This duo is closer to each other than any of the others in the team. When they are assigned to watch over a troublemaking reporter, Celia Jorgens, a chore becomes something more.

This book is raw in its language. There are acronyms galore and salty language to a sailor's delight. For those who are used to military speak, this book definitely gets into character. This is what I really enjoyed about the book. The men are men. They are aggressive and always situational aware. Ms. Dalton does an excellent job of showing how men in the military can behave. Is this realistic that all twenty men are drop dead gorgeous? This is why the book is erotic fiction. The men in this book are fun. They are rowdy and say what they mean. There isn't any of the pussy footing sugar coating. They also try to teach a civilian "special snowflake" how to be at least a little bit more educated in defense.

This part I particularly liked because Ms. Dalton shows how Celia may not be up for the training, but she does her best. She doesn't whine about it. She doesn't bluff the men. She's tenacious, which I can admire. A secondary character of note is the leader of these Drunk Monkeys--Papa. Is it wrong that I see Papa played by a young Clint Eastwood?

The world building of this new series captures my attention. It's thought-provoking and set in a speculative fiction manner. Honestly, I can see the events play out as Ms. Dalton lays it out. I'm Chinese and I can pretty much guarantee the way the Chinese respond in the book is dead on. Whilst one may point out that I am safely living in the States, I can also counter with my family and friends currently residing in China. The conversations with them are enlightening. For those who don't think the Chinese will use lethal force to resolve a conflict, think again.

The conflict in this story is intriguing. As in, how this virus came into existence and what players are in the game to create a vaccine. Ms. Dalton does try to blur the lines so events and actions aren't so black and white. Still, the main characters do come across as more idealistic than realistic. Celia especially shows her age and lack of experience when she condemns a person she interviews. Her viewpoints are valid and yet quite First World western thinking. I say this because those of us in the States still enjoy the ability to have freedom for the most part. Celia's indignation, while justified, doesn't take into account how easily most of the Western world takes safety as a given right rather than a hard earned and protected luxury.

The main focus is supposed to be on the erotic ménage of Celia, Tango and Doc, but another character is more interesting. He's the despicable con man with delusions of grandeur. This character is a mix between Hugo Dax in Moonraker and Jonas Nightengale in Leap of Faith with an abusive kinky bent. Honestly, this villain is straight up James Bond villain archetype. He is fascinating for me because I hope he succeeds quite a bit and just when he thinks he is on top of the world, he's taken down with an incredibly hard fall. My hope is Ms. Dalton keeps him around for a while with an explosive show down in the final book. He does need to be written with just a little bit more cleverness. Right now, he still comes across as a thug playing smart guy.

From an erotic perspective, this book would be fine without any of the sex scenes. They are okay as is but they didn't really do it for me. The plot is strong enough to go without the threesome. At times it comes across forced and unnecessary. I could care less if these three get it on or get it off. How they relate to each other didn't make me want to turn to the next page.

If you are looking for a ménage theme with a bit of action, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a book with men high on testosterone and adrenaline because they never know if today is the day they will die, this is the book for you. Recommended for readers who enjoy action packed speculative fiction.

This was just OK for me. While I’m interested in where the story might go/end up, I’m not interested enough to continue the series. There was so much backstory before we got to any relationship, but even that relationship was just kinda BAM -- out of the blue. No real build up, no even side glances at each other. I didn’t feel the chemistry really, though sure, they were sweet to each other. I wish I’d liked it more, but I just didn’t.

Great first book to a series. Lots of world building. Deadly virus, corrupt religious figures, and covert government operations. We get a small glimpse at the 20 team members and start with the first menage. 4 stars. I'm looking foreward to the next in the series.

A bit disappointed in this book. It was just OK. I feel like this book was setting the stage for something bigger. There were a lot of characters. 20 drunk monkeys and several other auxiliary characters that had much of the book dedicated to them. I never felt like I was able to connect with the 3 in the relationship because there was so much going on. Hopefully this book just had lots of background and characters introduce. Because I do normally love books from this author I will probably continue the series.

While I love the series name, all the monkey jokes did get a bit old. It seemed like at any time a random monkey joke would be dropped in. Usually when I read books from this publisher there is a ton of sex with not much story, this book surprised me, there was a story and not a lot of sex. Overall the book reminded me a bit of the Newsflesh series.

I liked learning about how the world was in the book, how the Drunk Monkeys came about, and how they worked together. I thought that Cecelia's role was one that made sense and worked with the group. It was interesting how Cecelia fit with the guys and the mission they were on. I did think that it was sort of abrupt how Doc and Tango wanted Cecelia and her answer to them. There were no sneaking glances or things that might lead you to believe there was a crush. I did like that once the boys and Cecelia decided that they were all together the rest of the group didn't blink an eye, but did what they could to help protect her.

With how things ended it will be interesting how the group finds the rest of the doctor and if they can keep ahead of the Preacher, who really needs to be taken down.

This new series is going to be epic. I don't normally read sci-fi but because I love Tymber's books I read it. I was not disappointed. The story is not so far out there that you can't understand it. Set 150 years in the future it feels like that is what the world could be. I could hardly put it down. A little of a cliff hanger but that is what will make this series work.
I won't give away any of the story just give it a shot I promise you won't be disappointed.

This was an OK read for me. The virus/drug story was good but infect the menage relationship between Doc/Celia/Tango was way to quick and just not believable for me.

Tymber Dalton has outdone herself again with this military thriller/mystery/romance series! In the first of this 10-book series, we meet the Drunk Monkeys, a 20-man SOTIF (Special Operations and Tactical Infiltration Force) team for the first time. To find out why they're called the Drunk Monkeys, you'll just have to read the book! The team is paired into ten teams of two men each. This is Doc, Tango, and Celia's story.

It's the year 2142, and the world has truly gone insane. Long story short, North Korea lured, blackmailed, and imprisoned a group of scientists to create a lethal, contagious, virulent virus with no cure which is nearly 100% fatal. But that wasn't nearly enough for North Korea's Mighty Leader. A separate team creates a drug that addicts instantaneously with just one dose. Both the virus and the drug are dubbed "Kite." Mixing the two, giving the virus-laced drug to addicts in the prison camp where the labs are located, is insanity. But when inmates escape, fleeing over the border into China, that's when all hell breaks loose. To stop the spread of this lunacy, China nukes North Korea into oblivion. But that doesn't stop Kite (the drug or the virus). It just ends North Korea. Soon, all of Asia is infected with Kite and battling nuclear radiation. Enter the Drunk Monkeys, SOTIF Team 1. Their mission? Find out if any of the scientists who created Kite (the virus) are still alive, acquire them, and bring them back to the States to create a cure. They're the world's only hope!

Fast forward to March 2143. Celia Jorgens is young newspaper researcher from Chicago who desperately wants to be a reporter. The whole Kite situation is hardly a secret but, for now, it hasn't truly affected America. Her fellow researcher, Mike, is a genius with computers, hacking and accessing all kinds of information. With Mike's help, Celia learns that one of the scientists on the "List," Dr. Pho Quong, has escaped North Korea with his family, emigrating to Australia. Celia's never had a reporting job before, never even left the country. With Kite rampaging across the world, she's more than scared and uncertain. But she wants this story so badly. With Mike's help, she pushes her fears aside and heads down under to Oz.

The Drunk Monkeys are also on their way to Oz. They have the same intel as Celia, but they're better trained and equipped. As they make their way from Vietnam to Australia, they finalize their plans to find Dr. Quong and his family and take them to safety. Little do they know that their plans have put them on a collision course with not only Celia but others, unknown people and factors. As events go sideways, Celia, the Drunk Monkeys, Dr. Quong, and maybe the entire continent of Australia, are put at risk in a way from which they may never recover.

From here, the story takes off in a million different directions, seemingly all at once. Will Celia be successful in locating Dr. Quong or will the Drunk Monkeys get there before her? Can any of them avoid the ever growing Kite epidemic? Can they even find Dr. Quong? If so, will he be able to reverse engineer a cure? And what about all those unknowns? They're certainly not out there for kicks. The Drunk Monkeys have enemies, more than they know. There are so many questions, so many ways this could go wrong.

The Drunk Monkeys series is one of the best series I've ever read! Who knew when Tymber Dalton first wrote this series that it would be so timely and current in 2016/17? It again demonstrates just how fantastic Tymber Dalton is as an author. She crosses genres with such apparent ease and talent. This series was first published in 2014, long before today's world situations, but it so closely creates today's climate of political changes, rises in the power of evangelical/fundamentalist Christian movements, and the surge in megachurches and their influence over nearly every aspect of American life, it's eerily predictive. That it is also dead-on accurate about other current world events is even more scary than you can imagine. This series is amazingly brilliant in ways you can't envision.

As always, I have one final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains very explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy military action/adventure with erotic romance and explicit sexual scenes, PLEASE think carefully before buying a book you won't enjoy. There are always synopses and reviews available on Goodreads, Facebook review pages, and every booksellers' website. Please use these resources so you're certain the book you're buying is one you want to read. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE A BAD REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE AUTHOR! She works extremely hard to provide quality work. If you know you'll object to the subject matter before you buy a book, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

I highly recommend the entire Drunk Monkeys series. You'll definitely want to read each book in order so you won't miss a moment of the action or the chain of events in this truly fantastic series. I can't give any higher praise to a series than to say it's equally as relevant and important as 1984, Brave New World, or The Handmaid's Tale. I give this entire series my highest recommendation without reservation. You won't be sorry you read it!

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

I really liked this story. It's set in a post-apocalyptic future, where China and North Korea have unleashed a deadly virus on the world called KITE. A Special Force team has been sent in (Code Name: Drunk Monkeys) in order to track down the doctors who initially created the virus in order to find a cure. There's 20 members in this team, and they all go by code names, which seems to be based off the military alphabet (Alpha, Oscar, Tango, Doc...).

I normally don't care much for post-apocalyptic stuff (I also don't like monkeys drunk or sober, but thankfully, it's just a code name), but since it's Tymber Dalton, I thought I'd give it a go. I'm glad I did.

My only big criticism is that it was really too short. This is a BIG world that Dalton is building, and she focuses a lot of the book on setting everything up. Even the bad guy in this (who really does creep me out) has his own chapters set in his POV. Seriously, the guy is FUBAR. Very creepy.

The only other criticism is that due to the amount of information we're given, there's very little set up for the main characters: reporter Ceclia and the Special Ops guys of Tango and Doc. Don't get me wrong, when they do finally get together, they're hot, but compared to the author's other books, they don't have much time together. I'm hoping that since this is the first book in what is supposed to be a 10 book series, the next books will have more pages devoted to the main romance. My only other concern is that there are two members of the Drunk Monkeys with code names of Papa and Uncle and it'll be awkward reading their stories, lol.

This also seems to be a series where it will be imperative that you read them in order, so make sure you start with this one. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this and I just ordered the second book from Bookstrand.

Honestly I have to say it took me a minute to actual get into it, glad I fave it the time. Mrs. Dalton rocks another book. I’ve read plenty of hers in the past, and she never fails to deliver.
Drunk Monkeys had quiet a bit detail in it, but it was needed to get the feel of the book, and where it was going. Its a decent length, and not actually a cliff hanger of sorts.
The characters, you will love the military aspect of this story. A group of men are on the hunt for one of the Doctors responsible for the Kite,( Im thinking zombie), well they are planning on all of the doctors but you have to take one at a time. As the team works through the intel, a tenacious report gets in their line of sight. They cant kill her, but the woman had the luck of finding the Dr. That means she will be around the team whether she likes it or not.
Doc and Tango are assigned as her babysitters.
The other guys seemed pretty awesome, when You get a chance to read about the Reverend I’m so sure you will want to beat him badly yourself. For the tri-couple well.. it started off with Tango and Celia bumping heads, Celia thinks getting the story out there will help her family and of course the rest of the world. Tango dubs her Snowflake.. and not because its cold. (Smiles)
There are definite sparks flying, some inner voices of reason as well as just saying screw it and throwing caution to the wind. The fun little banter between the characters had me laughing, the story line was one that made you guess would the government actually do something like this and the sex... hot and change the sheet worthy. I cant wait to read the other books in this series. Awesome Tymber!! Woot woo girlie.

This was on my TBR for a while, and was chosen for a challenge. I have read other Tymber Dalton books, so I was happy to try this one.

This story is mostly a peri-apocalyptic military adventure, with some excellent menage sprinkled in. And no vampires or zombies - yay!

The heroine is smart in some ways, and innocent as a snowflake in others. She falls in with a special forces team as they look for the cure to an epidemic. Along the way she gets involved with two of the guys.

This is part of a series, and it ends with a "to be continued..." which is fine. I'm sure TD will give the other members of the team their turn in the coming stories.

I love military adventures, and I enjoy good smut. There were parts of this book that were very good, but for me it never really hung together. There were a few too many side-stories, and while I appreciate a good build-up, there was no reference to sex, or anything sexy at all, for the first half of the story. However, the sex scenes were excellent. TD never really found her rhythm or pacing - it was just "off".

In the first installment of Tymber Dalton’s Drunk Monkeys series, the special ops group and the reporter are all that is standing between the world and imminent destruction.

There’s plenty of military drama and intrigue, some of which can be confusing if you are a casual reader. The ménage element is written well, adding a substantial amount of heat to the storyline.

While this is not the type of story I typically enjoy, it shows promise with the portion of the storyline dealing with a religious zealot seeking to capitalize on the chaos. I would score it high in terms of heat factor and hunky men, but it is missing whatever it needs in order for me to fully embrace the storyline.

This series was suggested to me by a friend, and it's not my usual genre - but I dug this book, mostly because of it's well-envisioned world-building. The world has gone to hell thanks to an outbreak of a virus, and it's up to an elite squad and a plucky journalist to save it. (Of course, that's a general summary and this is the first in quite a long series, so that may all change.) Celia is a likable heroine - imperfect, a little insecure, but a go-getter, and her relationship with her two (YES TWO!) dudes makes for great escapism in these troubling political times. It's nice to pretend there are good guys working behind the scenes to save the world...especially if they're hot. ;)

Not bad.
However, I didn't really connect with the main female. She was also kind of dumb most of the time.

And also literally insta love. Like seriously insta love. Just finished having sex for the first time and they all pop the I love yous.

I liked the premise about the apocalypse.

Not much to the men, as there wasn't much time.

But all said and done, not bad and I will continue the series.

In the first half of Monkey Business readers learn about life in the near future and Kite; the virus and the drug that is slowly killing off everyone in the World. The virus is quickly spreading and many are looking for a cure but not all want the cure for the right reasons.
We are introduced to the special ops team of the Drunk Monkey who are under orders to find the scientist that helped create the virus so the scientist can come together to put an end to it.
We meet the first scientist on the list thanks to reporter Cilia Jorgens who was hot on his trail then intercepted by the Drunk Monkeys. Celia Jorgens is a reporter who loves her family is hoping to find the scientist to make world better place for her niece and nephew, not realizing how out of her league she is Celia is followed then taken by Tango and Doc of the Drunk Monkeys team and held for her own safety.
Opposite the Drunk Monkey team is this crazy Rev. Silo, he wants to take over the country, he’s blackmailing everyone that could possibly be of use to him, he’s holding his wife hostage and abusing her in many ways trying to gain more power than any man needs.
The relationship between Celia, Tango and Doc kind of takes a backseat to the telling of the rest of the story; the reader basically assumes they connected due to close proximity and having similar goals in wanting to end the virus.
There are 20 men in Drunk Monkey team leading to 10 books of MFM stories. A lot of back story leaves the reader exited for the next installment to find the next scientist to end this virus/drug. There’s so much intrigue you can’t help but want more.
