“It’s so encouraging to read an author working in the faith/arts/creativity space who writes with such clarity about the essentials of creativity. I was especially enthused/relieved to see that risk made it into this book—an absolute essential to making a song, a business, or a life. "Risk or rust," is what I once heard a friend say. Wise words. As is this entire book. A point of clarification, Read this book if you want to live a 24/7 imaginative and creative life. It’s not just for artists. This book points the way to being human in the truest sense.

This is the first book I have read that talks about creativity and the creative process, and can I just say that I’m glad I picked this one! First, Steve’s writing style is very engaging. I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud as I read it. In one spot he is quoting scripture and in another he is quoting Liam Neesom in the movie Taken saying that if you don’t let my daughter go, “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.” Haha!

The real reason this book is so good though is that it inspired me to just go out and try stuff in my business. Steve provides very practical methods for exercising and increasing one’s creativity. And while I did not find this book to be overly spiritual, at the beginning of the book he talks about how God has made us in His image—God is a creator, and therefore so are we. And one thing in particular that spoke to me is the fact that creative success doesn’t depend on whether I can monetize the thing that I created. It’s ok to just create something because it gives me (and no one else) pleasure. Overall this was a very easy read and provided me with several aha moments. Again, most of all, it has encouraged me to just go try things that I have been thinking about doing.
